The food is that most meals are good quality food but sometimes- one of the meals is not up to par. The balsamic vinegar is too sweet and the meat sauce has almost no meat (but still tastes good). They were pretty busy when we were there and food took over an hour from order to table. That's too long. read more

So have been here before but it's been awhile. I had noted they would be worth another try. So today is the day. They weren't overly full, but getting food was slow, a little better than an hour from sitting down till we got our food. That would have been okay perhaps, but the food wasn't that great for 2 of the 3 of us. In fact, mine would rank in the lower 10% of all Italian restaurants I've ever been in Regarding ambiance, it just about room with concrete floors and hard wooden walls. Rather noisy I will say, although they don't seem to do regular Italian well, the pizzas we saw go past the table looked really. So maybe that is there strong suit. Got a takeout order for pizza and wings. Busy but friendly staff. Did not see much of the inside past the pickup register, but seemed warm and welcoming. The pizza was good. The wings tasted good, but were not crispy due to being over sauced. Would be an easy 5 if the wings were crispy. Would return again. read more

NOW THE PIZZA WAS GOOD BUT YOU CANNOT PICK OFF BASIL which was requested to be left off along with the fresh tomatoes. This one came regular style which was almost a pan/thick hand tossed with a big crusty edge. 2-the lasagna was WAY TOO FULL OF MEAT & was SPICY (which was addressed when ordering & we were reassured it was NOT SPICY!) 3-the spaghetti bolognese was a pile of goo & the spaghetti & meatballs was bland. Pastas come with a house salad (spring greens), Caesar made with romaine, or a cup of soup - today it was clam chowder. And they come with their homemade focaccia bread - they do refills on this!!! It's a chewy crusty sourdough consistency and was dipped in the vinegar, oil, & Parmesan cheese that's on the table. All that said, order the PIZZA! I had the LARGE pepperoni with extra sauce and asked them to spread out the dough thinner. BINGO! Basically NY STYLE WHERE YOU CAN FOLD A BIG OLE SLICE!! AWESOME IT WAS. We look forward to coming here when we visit Holden Beach. The pasta seems to be getting better! We all had the shrimp scampi dinner and it was excellent with nicely cooked shrimp. The floorboard was weird and scratched up. It took about 30-40 minutes to receive our food. It was a pretty small portion, and we were left hungry. Tasted like sauce out of a jar. Parking is tiny compared to the seating. We were sat quickly and order was taken in a timely fashion. After that it was a LONG wait til our food came out. Thankfully we weren't in any sort of rush but otherwise it would have been an issue. When the food DID arrive it was delicious, that's the saving grace. Excellent gem of a restaurant on Holden Beach. We ate there tonight and it was a 10 out of 10. Hostess was welcoming and our server Hayley was top notch and so friendly. Food was outstanding. Baked ziti, spaghetti bolognese, and lasagna were huge portions with enough for another meal. Salads were fresh, and desserts were the star. Tiramisu and peach cheesecake were exceptional. I have gotten food to go and have eaten in the restaurant. Eating inside the restaurant was a loud experience, but not in a bad way. Everybody was enjoying conversation and good food. There to go option is nice and easy. You can order online and pay and walk out with good food. The only complaint I have about online is you cannot know what the soup of the day is. Not a big deal. We come to Holden Beach every Fall. This was our first time visiting Sorella to eat. We picked up a to go order and everything was delicious. Pepperoni rolls were awesome! We also had their margarita pizza and it was delicious. Also ordered the shrimp scampi and shrimp fra diavolo. Both pasta/shrimp dishes were very good. Overall great food. We will DEFINITELY be back to Sorella's on our next visit to Holden and I see it becoming a regular stop for us every year. Highly recommended! read more

We came in a few weeks ago with a large party of nearly 10 people. We were seated quickly. The server was super quick and friendly. Most of the table ordered pizzas but my wife and I ordered calzones. We also ordered some garlic knots which came out quickly. All the food was really good. My wife and I live in the Holden beach area and this restaurant was on our list of places to try. We both totally surprised. The baked ziti was so large we took some home I had the Stromboli which totally delicious and had everything in it that any meat lover would want, We will be going back and this time we will leave room for dessert. read more

Our HUGE family paid our first ever visit here about 3 weeks ago. First things I wanted to make known was how well staffed the restaurant was and how professional the staff was. 2nd is that the food was very good. We do make seafood a priority when in Holden, and I'd say when we have to get some other style food when we're visiting it is passable at best. This was very good Italian food. We live in a city with no shortage of Italian restaurants (and I don't just mean Italian American style). This was all very good regardless. We arrived late afternoon. We were greeted and seated immediately. The decor was typical for an Italian place. One wall was covered with bottle-filled wine racks; another with pizza paddles. The menu had a wide variety of Italian dishes. We started with garlic knots. They were okay as my wife wanted them and I only ate them in self defense. Not a fan of them in general. I chose the Sorella Stromboli; my wife the Tortellini Michelangelo. Both were very enjoyable. The Stromboli was not as heavy as most. Wonderful flavor. Our waitress was very attentive.
