Definite pride of ownership by the proprietor. I ordered the dark quarter chicken with two sides. Fall off the bone flavorful chicken. A generous side of pinto beans that could easily be shared. Plus chicken fried rice. The sides were equal to the chicken in flavor. My only compliant is the parking. It is literally right next to the Tidewater Trail, so use caution. Prices are high (higher than the other Peruvian chicken place we frequent), chicken is over-salted without much flavor other than salt, and the sizes of the sides are TINY. We got 5 yucca fries...5. That was supposed to be one side. The other Peruvian chicken restaurant in the area that we love is Super Rico, their prices are lower, chicken has much better flavor and their sides are generous. Plaintans sweet, and here is the awesome thing...I am not a fan of rice, at all, but they have a rice called Chafura(I hope I got that right) that's is so tasty, I practically ate the entire side. I just tried these guys forbthe first time and I had a good experience. My lunch was just over 10 bucks. The plate was 8$ and I got a 2$ soda. The chicken was very good. I liked their green sauce. What I really liked was the option for fresh vegetables as sides. So nice to get away from fries (which they do have). They had soccer playing on the tv. Hands down the best Peruvian Pollo place south of DC. I do not say this lightly. First of all the chicken is from an authentic "pollo a la brasa" recipe and chef from Peru. Second, the fried yuca is awesome, not too tough or greasy, it's perfect. And, the sides are great, I prefer the fried rice with beans, but they have fresh green beans and mixed vegetables, too. I placed an order for delivery on yelp that was serviced by Grubhub. It took about an hour to receive. My chicken was delicious--hot, tender, very tasty. The black beans were also very good. My salad was ruined because of the way Perfect Pollo packed my order. They put my hot chicken and cold, dressed salad in the same styrofoam box which was then put in a hot bag for delivery. The dressing was on my chicken which didn't really bother me. My salad was basically cooked by the time it arrived. I was very much looking forward to the salad and it was inedible. I purchased a meal with two sides and it makes for an expensive dinner when you have to throw one of them away. I will definitely go to the restaurant because I loved the chicken, but am hesitant to order delivery again. First off the hospitality of this place is AMAZING . The owner and or manager really blew us away with not only the food but his customer service , really knowledgeable . My hubby was able to try the mashed potatoes before choosing them as his side and they were AMAZING he loved them . They have plenty of sides to chose from from the yellow rice and black beans to pasta salad and Mac and cheese . The sauces taste fresh and had great flavor you could really taste the difference in this place not to mention we both got 2 meals with drinks and My side of black beans were big enough for us both to enjoy for under $16 . As we were checking out we we're offered homemade horchata to sample and I've been craving it ever since ! Today was our second time at Perfect Pollo. Hubby had to wait a few before they opened (only because we were 30 minutes early... NO fault of the restaurant), but it was well worth the wait. 1 Whole Chicken 2 Large Black Beans and 1 Rice. EXCELLENT! The kindness of the staff for offering a free soda since we had waited for the opening. The staff is wonderfully friendly, and will offer a sample of the flavors if you are new to Peruvian cuisine.
