I'm on a mission. My mission is to find the best tacos in Albuquerque. These tacos are a good start: no premade taco shells here they make their own! They have a variety of tacos i chose chicken and ground beef. The chicken taco was very good, great flavor, nice crunch to the taco. Good taco. The beef taco unfortunately wasn't so tasty the meat fell short being very bland. I'm not looking for the taco bell version of the ground beef taco just a good ol'taco like mom made. The beans were delicious, flavorful; sopapilla was thicker than most but it was very tasty. The salsa was also passable. Great prices, very small shop if you go when it's busy you get freshly made taco shells we went at a slow time and our tacos came out too quickly and the tacos were not hot enough to be fresh but they were still good I'm sure much better when fresh. I'll be back lots of food I'd like to try. Seems like everyone has their own preference when it comes to tacos. If you want my honest opinion go for the chicken. Checked out the reviews first before deciding to indulge. Seems like everyone enjoyed the tacos. I love tacos, good tacos that is. The Taco Bell crapola doesn't cut it, so I committed to a 6-Pack of tacos at Perico's. The tortilla and meat are deep-fried at the same time and then the garnish and cheese are added when the taco is sizzling hot. Deep-fried anything is great and these little folded gems were right up there with greatness of their own. They don't skimp on the meat, lots of it tucked away in there. It could use more cheese. More cheese on anything is better. I was pleasantly surprised. The salsa that came with was mild, but you can always remedy that. Price is right too. It was buy 5 tacos and get the 6th free. Really can't beat any of it with a stick. I will return. read more

I was a bit skeptical trying out Perico's for the first time due to the fact that I never see anyone there when I pass by. But after eating dinner there I have to say I will be back. There taco plates are pretty amazing along with there burritos and the best thing is there not stingy with there portions. There pricing is a bit higher than I expected but the food overall was great. read more

It's simple: get the six pack of ground beef and potato tacos for you and a pal (or just you if you're really hungry)--they deep fry the corn tortillas along with the meat and potatoes for a fantastico treat (I hear they use toothpicks to keep the tacos from opening up while cooking). Topped with cheese, lettuce, and tomato and one of the tastiest, not too hot, hot sauces in town...yum...I must get more before I leave for home...BEST tacos in town (this has been confirmed by an ABQ native with high foodie standards). read more

No idea how this place doesn't have a solid 5/5 stars. It is AMAZING, tastes like truly authentic New Mexican cuisine. Delicious burritos and incredible stuffed sopapillas. The burritos are big, the stuffed sopapillas are huge and they are all only $4-5 bucks. What a value! Also some of the best red and green chile you'll eat. The tacos are fabulous and the portions are generous. My kid loved the bean burrito and ate two sides of rice! The service was friendly and the atmosphere is great. I usually try to visit a place a couple times before I give a review, just because I feel it's fair in case I happened to catch them on a great or terrible day on my first visit. However, I can not get myself to go back to this restaurant. The place was clean, menu was easy to read, plenty of seating, food came out fresh and hot. The taste of the food was definitely not for my particular palate. Bland, to sum it in one word. Chile had no heat or taste, I tried the red and green and their salsa. Staff was ok, seemed a little sarcastic when I was asking to order their must popular items. Tried tacos and burritos. Tacos were good, not great, very greasy and bland. I couldn't bear to eat more than a bite out of each item. I'm only being courteous with the two stars because I think they do try hard to make a good product read more

The papas con carne aka the beef & potato tacos are killer & the salsa to accompany the taco is spot on delicious with just the chile kick to give it a nice heat & spice! This particular Perico's has been a go to for our family for many many years. The food is always delicious and the service is always stellar. Today we came and met a line out the door. The cashier moved the line thru very quickly. When we got to the register she greeted us with a smile. When we ordered the Panchas we were told they were out of jalapeños, but were quickly offered fresh grilled jalapeños as a replacement. I have been to Pericos many times. It's not bad, but its nothing special, and certainly doesn't live up to the high standards set by similar joints in this town. The quality of the ingredients seems to be pretty low, they will charge you for salsa (even your first one) unless you complain, and the water available always has a strong chlorine taste. If you're hungry go ahead and go, but, if you can wait, there's much better food to be found elsewhere. read more

This location is always great,clean fast and friendly.Call in on a busy night.Be prepared to be told that the inside dining is closed towards the end of the night as they have repeatedly cleaned and closed down the larger dining room before close.I once came in stood in line and waited my turn the customers ahead of me asked if the dining room was open seeing as it was still business hours,these customers where told "No".I was in disbelief,one table would not have been to hard to clean,to accommodate these paying customers. For quick authentic Mexican fast food this place is OK. I always get the chicken tacos and they're pretty good, the shell is fried to crispy perfection, the cheese, lettuce and tomato make make a perfect topping. My only complaint is the chicken, even though it's soft and juicy it's pretty bland, so a healthy heap of their mild salsa is needed to liven things up but would be better the salsa had some kick to it. We visit every so often. Food is always good, but it never fails. They get the order wrong every single time. Order a six pack of tacos, they don't give you salsa. You order a burrito with Chile on the side, they put it in the burrito. You have to check your order every single time. There has to be a more efficient way of them getting things right. Maybe a system that prints up a receipt so kitchen staff can read the order right, verses them writing it down on a tablet. Who knows...... read more
