First thing is I ordered this on DoorDash. The driver got lost which I don't fault him for, he was bringing to our camper. The food was good. Eggs were basic eggs, the bacon and pancakes were very good. They also put a lot of syrup and butter in the bag which is always a plus. I've never been thrilled by Perkins, but it was near me and I was impressed by their specials menu - they had a special menu, "bakery inspired breakfast" so I wanted to try it. I ordered the blueberry muffin French toast - muffin sliced and dipped in French toast batter, grilled and topped with warm blueberry topping, whipped topping and powdered sugar. It was dessert for breakfast! The muffin was very crispy so not like French toast but it had good blueberry flavor, especially with the topping. It also came with bacon and eggs for some protein and it was all a reasonable price. The coffee was decent. The rest of the menu looked pretty standard, but the specials menu was pretty interesting, and I would try more options. First time at this location and a long time visiting Perkins. We dropped in on a Saturday morning with 6 people and our server Victoria was absolutely awesome. She was friendly and attentive. Stopped here with the kids en route from VA to Knoebels in PA. I went to college in PA so Perkins is a sentimental stop for me! I was disappointed by the menu this time around, as many non-breakfast items were removed from the rotation. Maybe this was a post-pandemic measure to reduce costs by reducing menu options? So the kids had pancakes for breakfast instead. Our youngest devoured his blueberry pancakes in sheer minutes, and a second order took forever to come out to the table. We were all done with our meal, with my husband taking the other kids to the car already while we waited for our second batch to come out. Arrived at Perkins at the start of a weekend away. We left early so this was our early lunch stop to get the coffee and wake up before really starting the trip. There were a fair number of people for a weekday afternoon and service was very consistent with frequent check ins. The menu is large and the calorie counts go with it. Not unexpected but you do have to work to get a filling meal not totally sugar and fat covered. I actually wanted to try a chicken finger sandwich, but it was super dry. While I had asked for sauce on the side, I had to ask for it twice and they forgot the ranch on the sandwich, which wasn't terribly crispy. Points off for that. Parking is plenty and it's near hotels and a dunkin right across from the rail tracks. But maneuvering into the lot is a bit weird so take it easy. But coffee was solid, and their dessert case was completely crazy full with huge pies and cookies and cakes. I'll come back, just be sure to keep it simple. read more

corporate literally forcing me to quit because I wasn't wearing the right shoes and I been there for 5 months and been wearing those shoes and never had a problem. I was literally wearing food service shoes that were all black except for white Outer rim. A manager literally tried to get me to color in the white rim with a sharpie. So unprofessional. Went here for breakfast. Pretty standard fare like a Denny's or iHop. We wanted something more substantial than the hotel breakfast and this was close. The kid got pancakes, bacon and a fruit cup. He loved the pancakes. They were light and fluffy (you know I had to try them). There were only two small slices of overdone bacon, but he's not picky. The fruit cup consisted of cantaloupe, honeydew and grapes. Nothing spectacular. Hubby went with the brioche French toast. The 2 thick slices were very good - pleasantly sweet. His sunny side eggs were a bit overdone though. I had the "build your own" breakfast. 2 eggs (I always go scrambled with cheddar cheese if they have it), bacon, fruit cup and I subbed an English muffin. My bacon and fruit cup were the same as the kid's - just meh. The weird thing were the eggs. They weren't really scrambled - they came out more solid like an omelet or one of those solid patty things you get on a sandwich at the Golden Arches. There were 2 slices of cheddar on top. Again, weird. Not the way I scramble eggs with cheese at all. We'd eat there again when looking for something a slight cut above hotel breakfasts and fast food. Just nothing spectacular. read more

Walked into the restaurant excited to try it but we were punched in the face with a nasty bathroom or sewer type smell. Huge turn off but we powered through. The food we ordered was not good. My wife is from central New York and loves Perkins since she was a child. When we discovered that there was one in Gettysburg, she was readily agreeable to go there for breakfast. The reason this location gets 3-stars is due to the horribly understaffed nature of the restaurant. We were told that it would be a 20 minute wait, which isn't unreasonable. However, the waiting area was filled with people and one poor person had to handle the hostess and checkout by herself. There seemed to be plenty of open tables, but not even close to enough servers to meet the demand. My wife ordered her favorite French toast, which was as she remembered. I ordered eggs with bacon and the large muffin that comes with it. The pumpkin muffin with cream cheese frosting was delicious and went well with my coffee! We would definitely return to this location, but they do need to hire more staff. read more

Visited Perkins for breakfast before visiting Gettysburg National Military Park. The food was pretty delicious, and exceeded my expectations. I ordered the french toast with scrambled eggs, and substituted the meat for home fries. While everything was delicious, I was especially impressed with the home fries, which were flavorful, soft and tender on the inside, and perfectly crispy on the outside. I can scratch off some of the substance, but it would take some time to get it all off. Whatever is on their silverware, it shouldn't be there. A fairly inexpensive restaurant that serves breakfast all day. Actually, based on what I saw, that is all you should get. At one side of my table was a wilted salad, a tuna "melt" with two slices of cheese (specifically asked to not be American, and one was) and a run of the mill side of rice. On the other was a superb Mediterranean omelet topped with hollandaise sauce with sides of fluffy pancakes real maple syrup and crispy hashbrowns. breakfast certainly won in that round. Our wait staff consisted of a friendly teen age waitress who struggled, though successfully, to keep her patience with the elderly couple across from us who proceeded to ask questions clearly answered in the menu. Pay at the cashier on the way out when you get your bill. You won't have daydreams about your meal here, but it is that comfortable diner feel and as long as you stick with breakfast items, you should be pretty happy. read more

I eat at this location often, and usually I'm more impressed with the quality of the food. It's unfortunate that the day I decide to write a review for it, I had a mildly lackluster experience. I enjoy coming to Perkins because they have such a variety of food, and I'm always able to find something to suit my mood. Every time I come in, they seem to have a menu of "New" items that differs from my last visit-- impressive how quickly they rotate through their menu choices, for the most part. I saw this new dish-- The Ragin Cajun Pasta-- that was right up my alley. The menu described it as "Cajun-seasoned medley of smoked sausage, shrimp and chicken, grilled together with green peppers and onions. Tossed with a spicy creole sauce and served over thin spaghetti." Jackpot! This was my culinary choice for the day... I was excited! That is until I got the meal. I understand that there is a certain expectation for food to differ from it's advertised picture slightly... but what I got looked absolutely NOTHING like what was advertised. The picture in the menu was a glamour shot of mounds of chicken, sausage, shrimp and succulent pasta sauce, spread in abundance over a bed of pasta. What I got was more like a dried heap of left-over spaghetti, barely enough for a serving, sprinkled with a few pieces of protein, covered in a small splash of sauce. I was so disappointed-- not only was the portion smaller than to be expected, the presentation was garbage. Presentation goes a long way for me. You can make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich look good if you put a LITTLE effort into it. It was readily apparent that the "chef" probably threw this on the plate from 50 yards away. Oh well... I still give this place three stars for this particular visit. Why? Because all in all... the Ragin Cajun Pasta WAS absolutely delicious, despite it's incredibly flawed appearance when first brought out to me. I guess it's as they say... don't judge a book by it's cover. It was flavorful, the meat surprisingly juicy, and at the end of the night, I WAS full after eating it. So the situation was salvaged. I WILL be coming back here, because the staff is absolutely excellent, and I have had far too many great experiences here in the past to let the little bit of dismay from tonight ward me off. However this was my first time doing take out, I noticed that they didn't even let the food rest for 10 minutes before throwing it into the styrofoam container and it melted the plastic to the bottom of my food.
