    Build-a-Breakfast

First thing is I ordered this on DoorDash. The driver got lost which I don't fault him for, he was bringing to our camper. The food was good. Eggs were basic eggs, the bacon and pancakes were very good. They also put a lot of syrup and butter in the bag which is always a plus. This was the first time I had Perkins since I was in high school but it was good.

I've never been thrilled by Perkins, but it was near me and I was impressed by their specials menu - they had a special menu, "bakery inspired breakfast" so I wanted to try it. I ordered the blueberry muffin French toast - muffin sliced and dipped in French toast batter, grilled and topped with warm blueberry topping, whipped topping and powdered sugar. It was dessert for breakfast! The muffin was very crispy so not like French toast but it had good blueberry flavor, especially with the topping. It also came with bacon and eggs for some protein and it was all a reasonable price. The coffee was decent. The rest of the menu looked pretty standard, but the specials menu was pretty interesting, and I would try more options. Even though I've long thought of Perkins as very boring and basic, I appreciate they are trying new dishes and it was an enjoyable breakfast.

First time at this location and a long time visiting Perkins. We dropped in on a Saturday morning with 6 people and our server Victoria was absolutely awesome. She was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Country Fried Steak and Eggs that came with hash browns. The portion was large, and the gravey is better that Bob Evans, yep, I said it. I ordered my eggs over easy with hash browns well with onions which was cooked perfect.

Less worker, less service so sad. They are in far location from the hot spot and they also have less people who work there. Perkin is only fews place around by walking distance from the Inn. Long line in the morning then unwelcome host so it is okay I can go somewhere else. Thank you!

Build your own breakfast with eggs "scrambled with cheese"

Went here for breakfast. Pretty standard fare like a Denny's or iHop. We wanted something more substantial than the hotel breakfast and this was close. The kid got pancakes, bacon and a fruit cup. He loved the pancakes. They were light and fluffy (you know I had to try them). There were only two small slices of overdone bacon, but he's not picky. The fruit cup consisted of cantaloupe, honeydew and grapes. Nothing spectacular. Hubby went with the brioche French toast. The 2 thick slices were very good - pleasantly sweet. His sunny side eggs were a bit overdone though. I had the "build your own" breakfast. 2 eggs (I always go scrambled with cheddar cheese if they have it), bacon, fruit cup and I subbed an English muffin. My bacon and fruit cup were the same as the kid's - just meh. The weird thing were the eggs. They weren't really scrambled - they came out more solid like an omelet or one of those solid patty things you get on a sandwich at the Golden Arches. There were 2 slices of cheddar on top. Again, weird. Not the way I scramble eggs with cheese at all. We'd eat there again when looking for something a slight cut above hotel breakfasts and fast food. Just nothing spectacular.

French toast, scrambled eggs, and home fries. All delicious, especially the potatoes.

Visited Perkins for breakfast before visiting Gettysburg National Military Park. The food was pretty delicious, and exceeded my expectations. I ordered the french toast with scrambled eggs, and substituted the meat for home fries. While everything was delicious, I was especially impressed with the home fries, which were flavorful, soft and tender on the inside, and perfectly crispy on the outside. I would definitely go back to dine again at this restaurant, and recommend it to others. Aside from the food, the service was also decent.

First off, service was dialed in: attentive without hovering, genuinely warm, and paced just right for a relaxed evening. Cocktails ("bespoke") can sometimes feel like an afterthought at places like this, but not here. The La Dulce Vida was excellent--balanced, not overly sweet, and actually worth ordering again (rare). We split the baby beet salad and honestly could've eaten two. Bright, fresh, and one of those dishes that makes you rethink how good something simple can be. Mains: duck à l'orange and steak frites. Both delivered. The duck had that perfect mix of richness and citrus, and the steak was cooked spot-on--though fair warning, it's a serious portion. The frites skip the usual cone presentation, but they're crispy and plentiful, so no real complaints. All in around $200 with tip for two, which felt fair given the quality across the board. This is the kind of place that doesn't try too hard--and gets almost everything right. Would come back.

I can't tell you how many times that medium is what I usually get when requesting medium-rare at restaurants. There's a big difference between the two in terms of internal temperature, center color, and texture. This place knows how to properly cook a medium-rare burger, and for me, that's a sign of quality and sets it apart. The sidewinder fries are fab as are the homemade potato chips and either comes with burgers. The dressing on the coleslaw needs some seasoning, but the slaw itself is fresh and crunchy. The Maryland crab soup is pretty slammin', too. I favor the back dining room, not the bar (in front). These 2 areas have different vibes. The back room feels like the way a burger joint should be. The bar is, well, more bar-ish. One of the servers, Brody, provides exceptional service--a shout out to him. This establishment's name is playful and clearly informs the customer as to what their specialty is: hamburgers. I bought one of their T-shirts, perhaps that says it all.

It was nice because we didn't wait long to be served and we had I nice view of the entire restaurant. A very rustic place that looked as I would imagine it did in 1863. My friend ordered a Caesar salad, fillet, and a baked potato. The salad came with a freshly baked yeast dinner roll. Fillet was cooked to perfection. I ordered the King's Soup which was French onion soup except with large chunks of tender beef in it. My entree was the Spring House Salad which was mixed greens, apples, walnuts, chipped smoked turkey, with herb dressing and it was divine. The sleeper of the meal was the datenut bread with cream cheese that came with my salad. A dark brown molasses bread with dried fruit and nuts. It was so chocked full of nuts and fruit while the dough was the most moist bread I've ever had. I couldn't eat both pieces after the meal so took it in a to go container. I ate it on the drive home and it was still moist and delicious.
