Perkins a chain restaurant known best for breakfast meals. The food is average and nothing to write home about. For the most part meals are uninspired and IMO bland and taste like microwaverable dishes. Breakfast on the other hand is much better. Establishment is old. Mostly booths and a few tables. Staff is professional but not very engaging. A real plus for this establishment is their pastries, pies and muffins they are outstanding. The hollandaise sauce was broken and had very little flavor. I removed the English muffin and that was part of the weird flavor. Pancake egg meal was ok. Don't think I'll be back. We had to wait around 40 minutes to be seated because they were low on staff. There were multiple tables open, but just not enough people to wait which was unfortunate to see. It seemed to be like someone was late, or somebody came in on their off day because when we were seated, there were more people working. Regardless, it was not ideal to wait for so long, but we toughed it out due to some circumstances in my party. This was a standard chain establishment with a lot more unique entrées than I would have thought. I had a honey mustard chicken crunch salad ($15.39). It came with crispy chicken strips, sweet red onions, red peppers, tomatoes, American cheese, Applewood smoked bacon and honey mustard dressing on fresh garden greens. This was not too bad. The chicken was definitely crispy while all of the other ingredients appeared to be fresh. The key was the honey mustard dressing as it brought everything together. They have specials but you have to ask. My friends knew about this and got eggs, bacon and pancake special for around $8 with an egg surcharge. Perkins restaurant and bakery 6:001 S. Salford BLVD. North Port, Florida This review pertains specifically to the way employees are treated at this particular Perkins. I know of a good employee who was abruptly "laid off" after having trained their replacement. They were without work for almost a month. When a number of other workers quit suddenly, they were asked to return. After not being there for almost a month, it was obvious that the kitchen had not been kept clean. The female night manager came in and started cursing them out and talking to them in such a disrespectful way that they had enough self-respect to quit on the spot. She blamed them for the mess when they had not been there. After they left the premises, there was a grease fire in the kitchen. I thought it was illegal to denigrate and speak in foul language to someone who is not of the same power dynamic at a place of employment. Workplace violence is a real thing. I suffered with a bully of a boss for years before I had enough self-respect to leave. So the one star is because I must leave a star, but it's not for the staff. It's for that female bully of a night manager. I hope Perkins and this manager's superiors take care of that situation so I can update this very negative review. read more

A good lunch I stopped in expecting to order breakfast, even though it was noon. After a couple of minutes, I was shown to a table and my server came by to take my drink order. The first piece of menu I looked at was for burgers, burgers with fries and a slice of pie. A slice of pie too? That sounded good, and it was. I ended up ordering something called a So So Gouda Burger, a burger with of course a slice of Gouda, but also with bacon, onion tangles (aka onion strings), Perkin's signature sauce, and the usual LTO, all on a Brioche bun. It stacked quite high on the plate. The burger came with a generous side of fries, and that slice of pie. I went with cherry. The burger was a winner, I liked the fries, and I definitely enjoyed the pie at the end of my meal. While the pie looked a bit flat, it was delicious, including the crust. Sure, I can go anyplace and order a burger and also order something for dessert, but this just seemed better, and it was priced like the pie was free. Good marketing. Service was fine. It started off a bit abrupt but after I was eating it was softer and more helpful. So why just 4 stars? One reason, it took 25 minutes from the time I placed my order until I had the burger. read more

Perkins breakfast is always excellent. Great variety, and never an issue. The staff is friendly and very service oriented. Miles is the best! One negative is the overall musky "elephant" smell in the building. It's likely the carpet. If so, it needs replacing or at least a very deep cleaning. Such should be cared for immediately. In a restaurant, one should smell the aroma of food or nothing at all. read more

I really can't believe I have to rewrite my review ... again. The final trip to Perkins went something like this. We walk in, get a nasty look from the uber-depressed fake goth girl waitress and wait for someone to seat us. After several minutes in a deserted restaurant, we finally get seated by our server, Terry. We give our drink orders and she walks away. About five minutes later, the drinks are slammed down onto our table and Terry walks away. Now, this was NOT the only issue. Not only were the drinks just dropped without seeing if we were ready to order, they were screwed up so bad we walked out right after getting them. There were only two of us, me and the hubby. He ordered a sprite, with no ice. I ordered a sweet tea. We got three glasses, 2 Sprites with EXTRA ice, and one unsweetened iced tea. Seriously?!? Needless to say, we looked at each other, got up and walked out. No one, including the manager behind the register, said a peep or cared. Oh, and fake goth girl who has no personality, I dare you give me a dirty look again. I ordered the turkey and dressing with green beans and corn. The corn was unsalted, but I can add salt. The green beans were tough and had strings and stems. The waiter finally came to check on me and he brought me broccoli instead, since I couldn't eat the green beans. The broccoli stems were all black. I obviously didn't eat them. Food is always good. But weekend personnel need to be trai ed in proper etiquette when dealing with phone orders. I was made to feel unimportant because I was not standing in front of them. I had been on hold for several minutes, the young man Martin pick up the phone took my name then immediately put me back on hold. I drove to the restaurant and voiced my displeasure to which Manager apologize and told me that they had several people cashing out and some to go orders. So I asked him does that mean because I'm on the telephone trying to place an order that I'm less important?
