I ate here on a Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. It was fairly busy but I was seated quickly. I ordered the French Toast and hash browns. Both were tasty and arrived quickly. The waitresses were super friendly and attentive. The place itself was clean and had kitschy decor. Overall it was a good experience. It's not gourmet, but I don't think anyone expects that at this type of establishment. read more

Good food, good portions, good service and clean. Yay! We went for breakfast. I had the Farmer's Scramble. It was really good. I especially loved the potatoes in the mix, and the addition of fresh tomatoes and green onions added a brightness that was perfect. My breakfast partner ordered the fajita omelet and really delicious looking blueberry muffin. I was pleasantly surprised when I had lunch here. I was craving a Patty Melt. The Patty Melt was so delicious and I ordered Garlic Fries. My server, CANDICE, was so friendly and attentive. Popped in for breakfast and ordered the Denver omelet with hash browns and toast. Eggs were raw, sparse cheese was not melted, ham was paper thin and pepper and onions were non-existent. Hash browns were overdone as was the toast. In addition, prices were sky high. The ceiling above our table was completely water stained, and the restrooms were filthy. Enough said! read more

My husband and I went to perkos today. I had never had the hamburger there so I ordered the bbq bacon cheeseburger. Oh man, this was the best burger I have ever eaten. Came here to try this restaurant chain out. Clean looking when I walked in and sat down. I ordered the ultimate steak omelette made with egg whites and no cheese on it, with a side of pancakes and country potatoes. The only good i can say is the place does give you a big portion for what you pay for. But the omelette and potatoes were under seasoned. The steak in the omelette looked nothing like the steak used in the picture in the menu. The steak used was thin. Almost like skirt steak. The potatoes were under cooked. I would feel sorry for any old person with dentures or even without teeth having to gnaw on the potatoes. The griddle they used to cook my pancakes was clearly the same griddle used to Sautee vegetables on because I had bits of charred onion and bell pepper showing in my pancakes. And the highlight of all is as soon as I left I had to make a pit stop home because I had instant diarrhea. I will never patronize this place again. One and done. read more

It took me a long time get to the review of this place. The reason being is that I wanted to take multiple experiences of that location specifically since I live a few blocks from it and wanted to give a fair yet overall evaluation of the restaurant. Over the years of us going there I have finally decided to write a review for this place. I hope this doesn't jinx me lol. This place has become the place we go to when we want comfort food. I have over the years experimented with multiple dishes yet I pretty much get the same thing now every time as I have grown to love the food there. Actually my whole family and I agree that the food there is great. Honestly when one goes to a place like Perko's we don't necessarily go there for the best food that we have ever had. I think not only does the company and employees know that, but the people that come there do as well and if they don't, then they must not get out too much. The food is not the best I have ever had, however, it is very very good, taste's great, and is a very great price. It has become our family's moment of comfort when we want to go out somewhere yet want something that is comfortable and enjoyable. That in many ways overrides it not being the best food ever. I mean seriously, what if the food was the best yet the service sucked? Would you still provide a place with 5 stars? A proper review should be about all aspects of the experience and one cannot in my eyes have 5 stars if other areas are seriously lacking. So, if you want that down home experience with your dining environment with great food ta boot then Perko's is your place. We feel welcome and comfortable with this place. Also the Buffalo Chicken strips are literally now my favorite thing to eat when I go to eat out. The chef, at least at this location has literally mastered the Buffalo chicken strips and I personally will continue to go back again and again for that same experience. For the last year Thomas has primarily been our server and let me tell you this guy is TOP NOTCH! Actually now that I think about it I have never had a bad Waiter/Waitress at this location. Thomas doesn't hover, and always seems to arrive at the table roughly at the right time. Nothing is more odd when you have a mouthful of food and they ask you if you need anything else. That always at other places seems to happen with me. He seems to know the right time to arrive without that feeling like you are being watched. And I personally really appreciate that. He has always been accommodating, even during COVID restrictions when they were seating outside he was very polite and professional. You feel like Norm @ Cheers with Thomas. He remembers what you like and want and knows how to talk to people to adjust to their level of conversation. I really enjoy that type of experience. Simple yet to the point. No fussing around. I recommend everyone checking out at least this Perko's if you are on this side of town off Oakdale and Sylvan as it is a very comforting experience. To be fair I cannot say all Perko's are the same. However, if you don't want to cook that day and you want something as if it was made in your own kitchen (and you cook well that is), then this is your place as it will just put you in a good place mentally when you leave like you made the right choice by coming here. That is how my experience is with this restaurant. I wish they were all that way. read more

My favorite of all the Perkos. With the senior discount, which starts at 60, it's a great value. Lately, what I enjoy getting on Fridays is the club sandwich along with a cup of clam chowder. I just love March at this place. Corned beef galore! Today I opted for the Ruben (sans sauerkraut) and it was moist, fatty (in the best possible way) soft and tender smothered in Swiss cheese that melted into the buttery crunchy rye bread. OMG. Well its my Birthday and my grandkids wanted to treat me to breakfest. We were seated fast. But that was the last we saw of our waitress for quite some time. When she finally made it to our table we ordered our drinks and she disappeared again. Then we ordered our food and that actually came out fast and exactly what we ordered. But i was promised a second cup of coffee and we were almoust done eating before i got it. Well our waitress disappeared again. We never saw her again. I actually had a very nice tip for her. But after the no shows. I just left the normal tip amount. What is hard. I love this place. I use to come here a lot. But with the service being so slow and basically being forgotten. Well waiting for so long in hopes of the food being better and no such luck. We went today to celebrate my Mother-in-law's birthday, so it wasn't my choice. I had the French Toast combo and like Rachael P. had mentioned about their oil I could taste everything else they put in their oil and it was gross. I couldn't finish my french toast. The bacon wasn't crispy and their eggs were the only thing that was edible. My girls had the happy face pancake and loved it. SO that was for one star and customer service is great, someone was always asking if we wanted refills of drinks so added another star. There are so many AMAZING options in Modesto for breakfast.. Quick service. Food is decent and typical Diner food. Pricing is reasonable. Did notice our Hot sauce and ketchup bottles on the table were VERY VERY DIRTY. A big group of us went to Waffle House (for some, to cure that nagging July 4 hangover). The locals (Raf and Chris) were raving about the biscuits and gravy and the chicken fried steak. I don't normally eat either, but I was curious to nibble a bite of each. How sucky was it that when we finally put down our Rock Bank instruments to make it out to brunch, the Waffle House was closed because their AC was broken! Trust me, it was super crappy. So we ended up at Perko's. It's like a Lyons or a Denny's. I had some sort of strawberry crepe. Good, but not great. Everyone was disappointed about missing out on Waffle House. Lori is a great server! I had breakfast with my sister and 3 year old. Food was great, service was fast and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. Lori interacted wonderfully with my 3 year old son. When we left my sister and I were chatting in the parking lot when we see Lori walking towards us to give us the diaper bag that I had left behind! Their attention to detail and winning ways more than compensates for food that is fine but not over-the-top spectacular. A person dining at Perko's will get good quality American food. How can you bring a plate of macaroni and cheese to an excited three year old and tell her you can't eat or touch it because it will burn her? Friendly staff and the wait time wasn't long at all. Food is good and not pricey! The manager was also very attentive with us.

This was our favorite date spot during my pregnancy. The mozzarella sticks are yummy and their scrambles are great too.

Bomb.com ! This is my new spot , my go to for a great breakfast . This is the second time I've been here . The first time was so good I wished I wrote a review. And this time it was even better then I remember . So definitely need to write a review. So I remember last time I ordered the mother load added jalapeños & linguica with biscuits and gravy. I loved it but ended up taking half home. So this time ordered it again and split it with my man . It was out of this world good. Had country potatoes with it . Ordered fresh fruit my daughter's had egg kids meal with bacon and sourdough toast. The bacon was perfect not fatty at all and crisp not burnt. She loved her egg . Biscuits and gravy we all loved , one of the best we have ever had. Omelet was to die for. Absolutely loved it. Full of meat n pure yumminess ! Coffee was great I love that they give you to options . The staff is friendly and welcoming. It was apparent as we sat down that this place was a local favorite filled with regulars. The staff seemed to know everyone's names. My husband and I stopped in for breakfast. Portions were more than ample and tasty. I had the Mother-load omelet and didn't come near finishing it. My husband and I could have split it. My family and I went here on a Sunday morning for brunch. We were pleasantly surprised with an inviting atmosphere and staff. It was a very homey and country style setting. The place was clean and they were extremely efficient with only having to wait a few minutes for a booth while they were very busy. It was a quick turnaround for our breakfast and the eggs were all cooked to our specified order....yes they did great with my over medium eggs. We had leftovers because they have large portions. Nice it's my neighbor. Food choices and taste are good but service and coffee could improve: had a decaf coffee but barely drink it cause it was so watery. They have Splenda sugar but not available unless you ask for it. I had to reach out for my utensils myself from the next table when she could have done it for me. I'll come back for the proximity, food, and price. Maybe I'll get a better waiter/waitress next time and coffee could have improved. read more
