On Friday I went to eat at this place with someone. We ordered some Michoacán-style enchiladas and I asked about the price of the lobster enchiladas. The waiter told me that the price only varied, but he didn't tell me how much they cost. Even so, I mentioned that in Rosarito I ate some lobsters, but they were so small it was a shame to have eaten them, and yet I ordered them thinking they would be a good meal. It was a disappointment; the lobster was raw. I ate one.Something different, and I asked the waiter a question because the lobster was raw, and he said he didn't know because he wasn't the chef. I told him, "This is a joke, paying $84 for 3 enchiladas with lobster." Aside from the raw lobster, there was a small amount that was embarrassing to look at. I would have minded paying for them, but not for them being raw and such a small quantity. Besides, my coffee cup was dirty as if someone else had already used it. The waiter was very kind and apologized, but that's not how I have to accept this lack of service. I will never return. read more

I love the food here and service is good. My main issues are with who appears to be the manager. I decided to celebrate my birthday here back in October, the manager approached our table and said "Can I get you ladies a round of shots!" The way he phrased it made it seem like it would be on the house, so we asked to clarify and he was incredibly vague and not clear. Sure enough, when we got the bill they were not on the house and it ended up being around $550 for 5 of us... pretty steep especially considering they wouldn't let me pay. Second time I encountered this person was just this past Thursday. It was a big soccer match so of course it was incredibly packed. I put my name down and he told me 45 minutes. I said okay, and went to wait. 45 minutes come and go and I go check with him, because open table was saying that the restaurant was now closed. He said "wait around until half time. I might have a side table for you." So like an idiot, I waited around through half time and nothing. Just wasted my time. This guy needs to be more direct at delivering bad news. If you can't comp the shots, just say that and we wouldn't have ordered them. If you can't seat me, that's fine, just let me know so we're not waiting around and wasting time!!! read more

They have a $12 lunch special from 10am-3pm on Tuesdays-Fridays. I ordered the chilaquiles. It was a decent size. I was expecting it to be a smaller portion since it was a part of the lunch special and it even came with rice and beans. Overall, it was pretty good. I like my chilaquiles to be extra saucey so I did have to ask for extra crème and salsa on the side. Only thing is that it was missing a fried egg on top. I had seen pictures where they usually serve it with an egg. The verde salsa had a nice punch to it, I was actually surprised. Our server was friendly and attentive to our needs. Came here on Friday evening and were seated promptly. The food came out quickly which we appreciated, but we were not wowed by the price we paid for it. In my opinion we should be warned if there are any charges that are out of the norm - we were charged $9 for bottled water which was added on very nonchalantly by the waitress as she walked away from our table saying "bottled ok?" Then there was a $3 credit card fee. The ceviche trio was good, but I would recommend serving with spoons instead of small forks which wouldn't pick up much of the ceviche at all. The queso fundido was very oily from the chorizo ($3 upcharge) and coagulated too quickly - was very gummy. I also felt it would have tasted better served with some toasted bread rather than small tortillas. Best plate was esquite. Appreciated the roll the dice game to make dinner entertaining. Visited this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday mariachi brunch day (which also happened to be my birthday). Made a reservation for one but decided to sit at the bar and am so happy that I did. The bartender - Nyah - was by far one of the sweetest and genuine person I've ever encountered. She went out of her way to make my birthday special and I ended up spending way too long at this restaurant. The drinks are also phenomenal. The food was okay (sorry!!!). I'd definitely come back for Nyah and the drinks though & I heard the dinner menu is better. Also, thank you to the manager and the owners. You all made the experience so great. read more

Honestly the best fish Tacos I've ever had! My friend said it's the best in town they are right. Shockingly fluffy with a crispy crunch. Strawberry margarita was also very good. I truly can't recommend this place enough. Also not sure if this is normal but after we asked for the check they brought out a set of dice and said that they're doing a new thing where if we roll snake eyes the food is comped and we only pay for the drinks. Hubby and I wanted to try something new and go somewhere we haven't been in a while so we ended up at Perla's in Santa Ana. We arrived early around 4:30pm so we can get some Happy Hour drinks and appetizers. Mind you if you are here for Happy Hour you have to sit at the bar and in the patio outside. We sat at the bar after they had mentioned that for the happy hour that's where you have to sit. It wasn't busy when we arrived there was only one other table with people. We started off with some drinks from the happy hour menu and I ordered a margarita and my husband ordered whiskey and Coke. Then we ordered an appetizer which was the halibut ceviche, which was good but o felt it needed a bit more salt and bit more spice. It did have a nice citrus taste , they add real orange juice which makes it a bit different than regular ceviche. Then for our entree we ended up ordering the fajitas mixtas which come with beef, chicken and shrimp and served with a side of white rice and beans and three corn tortillas. The fajitas came out piping hot and smelled delicious. They had a good amount of each of the meats and bell peppers and onion. I did ask for some salsa and did not realize that we were going to get charged extra for the salsa. I don't think that they should charge for salsa but who knows their protocol. Our bartender was very attentive and kept checking on how we're doing. Overall experience was good. The food was also good. read more

We decided to have a graduation party here. The day I called to inquire I was invited to come check out the space. The manager Daniel was very helpful. He gave me two options- patio or private upstairs room. We chose the upstairs room. Booking process was easy. We chose buffet- echiladas suizas and short rib tacos with rice and beans. Plus guac and chips and shredded beef flautas as apps and churros as dessert. The food was really good! All our guests enjoyed it. Everything was set up nicely. The room is a good space. We were able to decorate easily and it came together great. Daniel was helpful the whole time. We also had a bartender. He made good drinks and was friendly. We did spend a little more money than we were originally looking to BUT your first kid only graduates high school once! So.... worth it! read more
