Service: My friend made reservations for a Saturday at 6:30pm for a party of 4 with a preference for inside seating, but when we got there, they planned to seat us outside even though it had rained earlier that day and it was wet outside. Fortunately, they were able to make adjustments inside, but the seating was a bit awkward due to us having to sit in a U-shape at a rectangular table, so it was bit difficult to communicate. The service was also pretty slow when we tried paying for the bill. It took quite a while to get someone's attention even though it was a small restaurant. They did provide a free dessert for my friend since it was her birthday, though! Food: Food was alright. My friends really liked what they got, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I didn't want anything too heavy, so I ordered the ahi tostada. The sauce was good, I just wish the rest of the avocado and ahi tuna were more flavored. It was pretty bland. We also ordered appetizers, including guacamole which was $15. Definitely think that was way overpriced for how little guacamole we got. read more

We had dinner at Perla. The place is nicely decorated with a small patio in front. We split the guacamole with chips, the portion is okay for the cost. I had the carne asada salad, a nice portion of flank steak with greens, red onions, feta, and strawberries, with an agave vinaigrette. The hubby had three fish tacos, he liked his food and enjoyed the tacos wrapped in flour tortillas. The service was prompt and friendly. It's a bit pricey for the portions. read more

We happened to be attending the Dia De Los Muertos event so it was understandably busy but we got lucky and our party of 4 got sat within 5 minutes. We ordered their chips & guacamole which was small but delicious, especially those home fried chips! Our party had the veggie fajitas, shrimp ceviche, shrimp enchiladas and a chile relleno and we were super happy with their unique flavors and freshness. We had to add sides since those are ordered separately. I had 2 of the Horchata Martins (delicious!) and we ended with their flan and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The service wasn't as attentive but we totally understood because of the event so we were very patient. Our waitress always had a smile on her face. We sat on their patio which was very family friendly. I would have given it 5 stars except for all the sides you have to order separately & they're very small portions. The food was emaculate. One of the best restaurants I've been to in 2023. The earlier pictures don't do this place justice. The ambiance was so nice, they have heaters in the patio, they had a singer/guitarist & violin player performing, and they even played happy birthday for my friend. Also, the serice by Vanesss and Josue was just incredible. Thanks so much! We had the the shrimp ceviche, esquite (similar to elote w/out the cobb), white fish which was most amazing flavor, and the lobster tacos which was on pointtt. Another must try is the grilled pulpo (octopus), this was seriously grilled to perfection and the flavor was so delicious. 10/10 read more

We decided to have a graduation party here. The day I called to inquire I was invited to come check out the space. The manager Daniel was very helpful. He gave me two options- patio or private upstairs room. We chose the upstairs room. Booking process was easy. We chose buffet- echiladas suizas and short rib tacos with rice and beans. Plus guac and chips and shredded beef flautas as apps and churros as dessert. The food was really good! All our guests enjoyed it. Everything was set up nicely. The room is a good space. We were able to decorate easily and it came together great. Daniel was helpful the whole time. We also had a bartender. He made good drinks and was friendly. We did spend a little more money than we were originally looking to BUT your first kid only graduates high school once! So.... worth it! read more

Went there to celebrate bdays and had the tabilta and was told it served 3 people. It's not the case maybe 1.5 to say the least. Now food was was decent but not $95 for that tray. I was charged for a side of rice never brought. Finally, the cup of water was dirty smeared with sauce of some kind. They have created the menu hoping to transport customers to magical corners of Mexico, while mantaining a homemade charm to every dish. I can understand how business owners, managers, servers, and customers are all caught within the vicious fluctuations of markets and so on. However, what I was recently served at Kaizen Shabu last week was, to my mind, an egregious example of a restaurant offering well below the bare minimum of what should be expected for the prices listed (and my photos will show this, I believe). At the outset, I want to say I have no grievances with the servers. Our server was kind, attentive, and was elegantly multitasking. Bravo. Now, the food: we ordered the salmon "sashimi" plate, and what we were handed was a platter of the thinnest, grainiest, obviously-thawed and poorly sliced salmon I've ever eaten in my life. I was a bit shocked. At Cal Shabu Shabu (and other shabu places I tend to frequent more often), sashimi is... sashimi. It *looks* like sashimi because it IS sashimi: a piece of salmon purchased by the restaurant and knife-cut into appropriate portions depending on what portion size the customer has ordered. It is sashimi that gleans in the light, where the striations of fat and tissue are visible to the naked eye on the fish itself. As you can see from my photos, we were served paper-thin salmon that I could barely peel off of the plate with my chopsticks without ripping the fish into smaller, grainier pieces. It was all but inedible, in my opinion. This is not sashimi, and to serve such a thing for the price listed is beyond atrocious: it is an outright deception. Now, onto the side of veggies and noodles that come with every order of meat or fish. Perhaps the cooks could not be bothered, but what I received was broken tendrils of 2-inch udon haphazardly thrown into a bowl. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the chefs, with a dwindling supply of food nearer the end of the night, or if this restaurant truly does not care about the quality of what they are serving customers. Again, I think my pictures speak for themselves. I used to love coming here as the atmosphere was chic, and the servers are so kind. After my last dining experience, however, I cannot justify the price of my bill in the face of the quality of the food I am being served. I won't be returning, sadly. I hope the manager has an opportunity to look at these photos and perhaps reassess what can be done to improve what they are serving their customers.

Came here on a Saturday for lunch and great experience. First of all, all the staff is compliant with Covid guidelines. Food and drinks were top notch and reasonably priced for the quality you get.
