Yes yes yesssss! I literally just had one of the best iced lattes and breakfast sammies I've ever had. Service was fabulous, food came out fast and hot (they text you when the food is ready). It used to be my go to coffee place and I used to love everything about it. The ambience, coffee, service. I've been away for a few months and came back today. While coffee was still fine (although with so many new hand crafted coffee places popping up with exceptional quality coffee, I can no longer say it's hands down the best) the service was horrible. Barista who took my order was snappy, impatient, and very unfriendly. Mine you, I always know what I want and I am from busy city so I am usually the one who gets annoyed by lengthy chatters, and the ones who does not know what to order and ponder standing with lines of people behind. I don't know if the place is getting ready to move and don't care but it lost its cool ambience. I won't be coming back for a long time. It definitely lost its appeal and charm. read more

Perq has become my office, it's a beautiful, creative space populated by interesting and engaging people, with barista's who actually care about the product they're selling. They want you to be able to taste the subtle flavors that the growers and roasters have worked so hard to create and I am learning to appreciate that more and more through the different brewing methods and 4 different beans that they have on rotation. I had pretty much stopped drinking coffee the preceding 5 years and now I'm drinking it 3 or 4 times a week. Someone suggested to come regularly you need to be rich and drive a Benz. I have a 10 year old VW with over 100k miles on it and am a freelancer, I wouldn't even say I'm comfortable let alone rich, but coming here - yes I'm here right now enjoying a shaker and some snacks made by the amazing bakers of the Lollicake Queen - has been rewarding in so many ways, I've made great connections, some sales of work, and have been able to help other like minded people with their businesses. One person complained there aren't enough bean choices. There are 4, 7 different methods to brew them, and I'm not even sure how many different ways to serve them, so maybe 100+ different drink styles to enjoy. How many choices is enough? Forget about what you're used to from those other places, come with an open mind, and ask the barista to make you their favorite, you might be pleasantly surprised. read more

If you are a purveyor of specialty coffee, and you happen to be in or near Sarasota, go to Perq. I ordered a Gibraltar. It was delicious. Actually, maybe my first single-origin gibraltar, since (it seems) most baristas use blends for espresso. This one was bright, fruity, and wonderful. I think it was closer to a 1:2 espresso to milk ratio (I prefer 1:1) but why split hairs--the taste was on point and the pour was artful. I also shared a pour-over of their specialty grade geisha with my wife. It was poured well and tasted great. They serve their coffee in insulated glass mugs (my preference) so you can enjoy your coffee with all the senses. This was a treat. The friendly barista allowed us to sample the iced coffees. We will enjoy one of those when we return. They were both good, but the nitro was my favorite. Their baked goods are...well, good. They have a good selection and they are well above your chain donut shop. The atmosphere is a 10/10. The baristas are skilled and inviting. The coffee is tasty. Need I continue? I love my morning coffee, and I found this place on Yelp the last day of our vacation. I was excited, since this is #1 coffee shop in town. Though it was not on the way back home, my lovely husband drove us there. I had high hopes, but was disappointed when I walked out. The menu was skinny. I got the cold brew. It was strong but a little bit too bitter to my taste. My husband had a chai latte, but it was not very "chai" or sweet. We got a chocolate macaroon and a donut. Both are very tasty. We liked the atmosphere, but we were expecting much more based on the price and Yelp rating. I preferred the lelu coffee lounge and the local bean (both on siesta key island) more. I would also recommend Morton gourmet market across street if you are in the neighborhood and want a quick and reasonably priced coffee. read more

How wonderful to visit a coffee shop that emphasizes quality. We are traveling and I love to go to local businesses. Ambience and quality are important to me as well--and coffee tastes better when served in real glasses/cups. Haven't been able to do that for about a year til we came to Perq's! I enjoyed the Piccolo: smooth, rich flavor, no sugar needed. My husband got his usual hot chocolate with almond milk. The only time when we've opened the lid and the chocolate aroma oozed out of the cup! The chocolate chip banana bread was perfectly baked. I also picked up some whole beans to enjoy at home. The barista pointed out notes he thought I'd enjoy. Overall, the cost is more than I've paid at other shops but I would still return when I'm around or if I lived here. Bad service right out the gate. Now i'm not sure if Mother Theresa grew these coffee beans but even if she had no latte should be 10 dollars. That just makes me want to move deep into the forest and get away from a society where that is normal. I have been wanting to visit Perf coffee Bar for quite a while after my parents moved to Sarasota last year. I live in Charlotte so its tough to squeeze in a coffee shop trip while visiting them for a weekend but finally made it over and so glad I did. This is a true coffee shop with a great vibe and products ( a rare thing for Florida in general). I came in pretty early and was able to try the pumpkin spice latte and the vanilla cream donut. The pumpkin spice latte was on point, not too sweet and the pumpkin didn't overpower the espresso which is always a great sign for a quality coffee shop. They also use CounterCulture (based out of Durham, NC) beans which all the best shops use and I buy regularly since it is everywhere in NC. The donut was delicious and glad I got it. Also had a chance to try the Mocha Latte and again was impressed by the quality but would have liked a little stronger chocolate flavor but given there style here, it is understandable they are trying to emphasize the coffee and not the milk here in there latte beverages. We stopped here while on the way to Tampa from Naples and boy are we glad that we did. The Kyoto cold brew was amazing and so too were the pecan pie cookie and the berry lemon scone. The atmosphere inside is fantastic with cool seating and a dope layout. The barista staff is incredibly kind and cool. Both the coffee and atmosphere at this place are amazing. I've come here a few times to study, and both times I've felt so comfortable in the relaxed atmosphere with cool decor and helpful baristas. The only down side is that the chairs are backless. As far as coffee goes, it is soo flavorful and rich. I had the flat white with almond milk, which was awesome. Another time I had the aeropress, which I'm not entirely sure what it is, but it's a method of pressing their coffee. The cappuccino and espresso were pretty good. I'd definitely go there again for the coffee. This isn't a place I would like to sit around and chat or go there for the atmosphere. While it's clean and the staff was friendly, the exclusive stool seating is awful. They want you in and out, unless you happen to snatch one of four couch seats. Which, if there's one person on each couch, it's very unlikely a stranger will come over and plop down right next to you. I certainly wouldn't. Rudest service I've have ever received in Sarasota; the staff makes a tweener barista from Starbucks seem more approachable. Stood in a line of 1 for over 5 minutes, asked for a cappuccino and was told I could only have a "flat white". Asked why I couldn't have a cappuccino, gentleman responded that he "doesn't do Italian coffee" (something you don't want to say to an Italian). Gentlemen proceeds to make me a lukewarm espresso and says it's "Ethiopian". This was the weakest (and coldest) Ethiopian coffee I've ever had. I would give a zero out of five but I don't have the option. If snobbery and rudeness is your game, you'll love this place. Otherwise, there are so many better options, especially with Morton's right across the street. read more

I'm not one to drink coffee because I can be highly critical of the selection, roast, preparation, etc. However, their coffee is a work of art. You will not find bitter tasteless coffee here; instead, the coffee is smooth and sweet. Don't think they're a one-hit-wonder though. I tried their matcha latte and it was delicious. I'm a stickler for following the rules carefully when it comes to tea and I find that most coffee shops either burn the matcha or don't dissolve it properly so it clumps to the bottom. These baristas however, know what they're doing because the matcha was sweet and blended with the delicious almond milk. The atmosphere is great. Lots of tables, plenty of outlets, great wifi, beautiful furnishings, and even hooks on the tables for bags. I appreciate their attention to detail with the decorations being high quality and consistent throughout the shop. On top of being an all around great coffee shop, they show their uniqueness with a beautiful light fixture on top of a bright green espresso machine. Could not be happier with this establishment. Visiting Sarasota from the East Coast and was excited to find out I can still wake up to a good cup of coffee within the area! The little things make me happy and at 8am during vacation, I made my husband share a cup at Perq with me. The coffee was delicious but the service is cold! Based on other yelpers, they said the staff was knowledgeable... we didn't get any info on the coffee they offered, except for what we clearly could read ourselves on the posters showcasing the coffee. The guy with the comb over just seemed annoyed the whole time. There was also a lady who handed me my pastry and helped me over at the lollicakes... she wasn't the nice & bubbly gal I read from other reviews. Do they not know how to say Good Morning or Hello? Maybe Perq was having a bad day, maybe they didn't have their cup or two yet... whatever it was, I hope it is not the attitude of the store in general. I get it, you are not starbucks and I wasn't looking for a starbuck, but sheesh learn some people skills. Overall, if you don't mind the cold service, their coffee is good. Tom F. Was right. I wish I was as accomplished at writing as he so I could communicate how disappointed I am. To begin with no cream and no half and half so no breve. Second while they do offer various types of espresso, the Kenyan one I tried was "thin" and not at all full bodied. Perhaps I should have tried one of their cold brews. The place is pleasant looking enough and the service was meh'. I know I say this a lot, but I think a coffee shop should focus more on coffee then decor. However the thing that wasn't good about it was the price, I had the Nel which was a concentrated cup of coffee but man way too small.
