We were visiting and chose to stop in for breakfast because we didn't want anything too heavy at a sit down place. We chose the special egg bake and cortado. The food and coffee was delicious! Just add salt and pepper to the egg bake and enjoy. I took off one star because the cashier started off very helpful but snapped at us when we informed him we actually wanted our food to go. I guess it was an inconvenience to replate the food but he never asked us he just assumes it was for here. When Im in Sarasota, I'm at Perq almost every day. Get the same thing , straight black drip coffee. It is always the best coffee I get anywhere. It is pricey but when it's that good it's worth it. They charge $11-15 dollars for ONE SLICE of avocado toast and their coffee is STARTING at $6.50 per cup. They BLAST their hipster music and do not have friendly service. On top of it, if you leave a negative review the owner will harass you in private messages, say that you have Covid, and cuss at you until you take it down. I don't appreciate being bullied for an honest review. Had to block receiving private messages on Yelp. I'm a coffee-loving visitor on a quest to find the best coffee in Sarasota. Thus far, Perq is at the top of my list. If you are looking for a true, authentic, coffee-snob inspired experience, this is your place. Do not come here if you want super-sugar loaded/frappuccino-inspired drinks (there's Starbucks for that). This place hit all of the marks for me. I ordered a long black (similar to an americano) and my boyfriend ordered an espresso. Both of our drinks were made with the Ethiopia blend beans from Kuma coffee. I love Ethiopian roasts, which tend to be pretty fruit-forward and mellow, so I was pretty excited to see they offered it. The long black was perfect. It came in a small, 10oz mug. This is ideal for anyone seeking a strong americano with a layer of crema. I feel like it is really rare to get a long black of this quality in the US, as most are too big and hence more watered-down. Kudos to Perq for taking the art of coffee seriously! The atmosphere was modern and open. They have adequate seating and the area was very clean and well-lit. There are a few parking spots in the front, but also various spots on the road/around the median. From the looks of it, this is a good place to do work. Well done, Perq! Stopped in due to the raving reviews. I personally didn't find it worthy of 4 stars at all. While the service was Ok, coffee was definitely just ok. My husband ordered a caramel latte. They don't have caramel.... or any flavors for that matter.. only mocha & sugar (??) He ordered a mocha and wasn't satisfied. I ordered a coffee and asked for room for cream. I was told they don't have cream... only milk & almond milk. Wow. Finally after some almond milk I went to put raw sugar in my coffee only to find out they don't have raw sugar or any sugar for that matter... only simple syrup. This coffee shop is in a very touristy area.. Beaches and hospitals within 10 min. They seem to not cater to anyone except vegans who also don't like sugar. Been coming here for a couple weeks now to study and have a cup of coffee. Haven't eaten anything but the food looks delightful, every time the coffee is outstanding and the vibe is just right. Can be busy at the normal busy hours for a coffee shop like 8:30-10:30 but I like to get there before to beat the rush & find a spot. Really cool operation with a little wine shop & some craft beer as well- I would recommend to the owner maybe moving the wine bottles from the window because it's so hot in FL and that could make the wine turn nasty pretty quickly. Came here to get some work done on a Sunday morning/afternoon. I'm used to busy coffee shops and was expecting little to no tables and for the tables to be small. To my surprise, I was pleased by how quiet and spacious the place was. The music and ambience was conducive to my productivity. I got a mocha cold brew with almond milk and I really enjoyed because it gave me enough of a kick to get my work done. I also really appreciated that they had simple syrup at the end of the bar for customers to add their drinks for their liking. A long time coming, Perq is a glittering addition to the Sarasota coffee scene. Unfortunately, that's less of a compliment than it should be, given the mediocre coffee culture hereabouts. The good news is that we now have a truly first-class place that showcases quality coffee. Hitting you like a stack of Architectural Digests is the gorgeous fit-out. Keith and Erin have clearly thought long and hard about how the perfect coffee shop should look and feel. Not insignificant is that we're in the sub-tropics, so the climate is a consideration. With that in mind, the high-ceilinged wood-themed open-furnished fit-out is ideal for both seasons - Snowbird and Local. They've taken the warehouse look and made it comfortable. Now for the coffee. Frankly, it's peerless. As the owners' blurb explains, the coffee is the star here, with beans from specialist growers and roasters. But beans can only be as good as the treatment they're given, and that too is first-rate. The Slayer espresso machine is the heart of the operation for my taste, but you will find other techniques employed: Think cutting edge meets simplicity. For those of us who take our coffee as seriously as a heart attack, this place is like the paddles of life. In a way, it's almost too good for this town that thrives on thrifty seniors and horrid chains. But I'm hoping Perq is a giant success. I woke up before sunrise as usual, but instead of hanging at the office, my friend decided to show me best coffee nook in Sarasota. Of course, I am skeptical... I mean, I hang out in soooo many coffee houses in NYC and Paris that it becoming bad/good habit, cannot be that coffee in Sarasota would be that impressive, right? I was wrong... I am so happy I was wrong, too! This is holy grail of all coffee houses. Order flat white, and you will understand. I had it with almond milk and Elida roast. It was smooth as butter. So smooth, you want to close your eyes and dream of that first sip forever. The only coffee that I remember being this good was at little hole-in-a-wall near Louvre... It been years, but I still remember it... I must add, design of this shop is awesome as well. The attention to little details, and quality of finishes is outstanding. The precise fit of paneling on the bar, the tables, chairs, cold brew jars lined up under spotlights, just genius. And Lollypop queen desserts are cute - bites, macarons and bars, just perfect little snacks with coffee. Parking up front, easy to get in and out... So, it is time to get back to the office, and my friend asked me what I liked the most about Perq.
