Perro Salado is a eccentric Mexican-ish restaurant that happens to serve a rib dish as one of their signature dishes. There are also enchiladas and tacos. It is located in a historic building which adds to the unique vibe. Service was fast and the server was pleasant. I enjoyed the uniqueness of the experience. The food was decent. I had the enchiladas and tasted the ribs. The margaritas helped it all go down well.

Decided to make last minute reservations for Monday night nachos with our adult kids and one grand. Happy we did! The nachos (one order of the pork and one of the chicken) were both so delicious! Plentiful ingredients! Lots of flavor!

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and we had the chips, guac, queso, tacos and sticky ribs, generally food was hit or miss (more below). Service was attentive and friendly and the space was cozy inside of an old house. The guac came as a comically large portion, I kid you not there was at least 5-6 heaping icecream scoops worth of guac. It was pretty good and we didn't want to waste it since it doesn't keep well as a leftover, and this unfortunately impacted our appetite for the other food. For the queso, I asked for the bacon on the side because my friend is a vegetarian. It came on the side but they also -still- put bacon in the queso, which we discovered about halfway through because it was on the bottom. The queso was delicious but I docked a star for the bacon mixup. Sticky ribs were a huge portion and the meat fell off the bones, but had some charred bits that were a bit too hard for me. They were tasty but very sweet. We also tried some drinks, I tried a carrot ginger tequila drink and my friend had a tequila mocktail. They weren't bad, but they weren't good either. It's always a dice roll trying to find decent Mexican in New England, and while we enjoyed some of the dishes, I don't think we'd return.

The waitress was just a sweetheart! The ambiance was amazing.. I felt like I was at a grandmother's house in Mexico enjoying a delicious home cooked meal. I felt so relaxed. A wonderful date experience i recommend!

We went here last night for a wedding party and had a wonderful time! The food was all very tasty and the highlights were definitely the fried avocado bites and short ribs. The drinks were delicious and the servers were all attentive and friendly! We would go back when we are in the area again!

Taqueria Tacos with Al Pastor. Not bad, 6.5/10.

Came here on August 22nd with my boyfriend. He made reservations ahead of time as Summertime is quite busy here. Walking in, the space is cozy and warm. It felt like walking into someone's small home. The staff was so nice and we were seated immediately. Our server was so sweet. She was super attentive and just great with conversation and giving us tips on what to order, which is always great. I love when the staff are passionate and informative about the food. We wanted guac, but she recommended a half serving since we were just two people, and offered to add salsa and keep the tostones with it too. Things we ordered: - Guacamole and salsa served with tortilla chips, tostones. Soooo good. I've never had tostones before, and I swear I could've eaten like 20 by myself. Delishhhh. 10/10. - Fish Tacos, pretty good. 7.5/10. Really yummy batter, tasted pretty fresh, and decent portion size. - Taqueria Tacos with Al Pastor. Not bad, I did actually enjoy it, and for Newport, it was pretty good! Out of all the tacos I've had in Newport, I'd rate these like a 7/10, but I'm also from California so I've had so many of these that were better and cheaper. 6.5/10. - Lalo Paloma, pretty good but not the most amazing one I've had. 7.5/10. - Mint Mojito. My boyfriend ordered this and it was pretty good! Overall, super yummy spot. Also, the bill wasn't too bad for Newport! I'd definitely come again, and again, and again.

Great food great drinks! There is a time limit on the tables, however so beware. We had Carne Asada, chips and guacamole, a rice bowl, chicken enchiladas, and various kinds of margaritas. Drinks were excellent. Service was OK. We were given the check without being asked if we wanted desserts so we assumed they wanted us to leave. Meanwhile there were empty tables outside. Hmmm

Margaritas. Sticky ribs. Avocado fries. That's all I need to say on repeat. Everything else is amazing too but those are must orders. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Reservations preferred but I usually show up for open time and haven't been denied a table or waited too long ever. In a cute house, style is very rustic. A must eat!

Perro is great. It's a very cool place. It's a little funky inside. The food is awesome. The sticky ribs and vegetables enchilada are very good. I love this place.

I very much enjoyed my meal here. Highly suggest starting off with a Margarita, blood orange or watermelon. Then the sticky ribs appetizer, very nice flavors. The steak quesadilla was awesome, but the lobster tacos were perfection! Be ready to have a myriad of flavors burst in your mouth. The building is very quaint and the service was excellentl! Nice ambiance. Enjoy!

The restaurant was packed, and since we didn't have a reservation, we ended up sitting in the bar area. Honestly, that wasn't a bad thing--the views of the sunset and the wharf were beautiful. The drinks came out quickly, although my cocktail had way too much citrus. The oysters arrived next, and they were fresh and delicious, so we were all feeling pretty good about the meal and looking forward to our entrées. Unfortunately, that's where things went downhill. We waited an entire hour for our entrées to arrive, and the waitstaff wasn't very forthcoming with updates. We had to track someone down anytime we had a question or needed something, which became very frustrating. Once the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. Several of the dishes were extremely salty. I ordered the swordfish, which was slightly overcooked, and the vegetables were overwhelmingly acidic, as if an entire bottle of vinegar had been poured over them. They were also topped with a generous amount of capers, making the dish even saltier. Overall, it just wasn't enjoyable. I mentioned my concerns to our waitress, but unfortunately, she didn't seem particularly concerned. Hopefully, she passed the feedback along to the chef so some adjustments can be made. The beautiful waterfront setting and fresh oysters were definitely highlights which gained a star here but unfortunately, the long wait, lack of communication, and disappointing entrées overshadowed the experience.

We sat in the Conservatory and I loved being surrounded by lush foliage and clean black and white stripe decor. On to the food--- This is not a drill. Do not skip the raw oysters. The mignonette - excellent! They were the best of the weekend (and we have had quite a bit) Our server Tiffany was attentive and made excellent suggestions. We ordered crab toast as well and it was very very good. Then followed with a Caesar salad and clam chowder to share. I couldn't decide between little neck clams and the rabbit tagliatelle and she brought the clams as a surprise. They were HANDS DOWN the best I've ever had. She really made my night. The pasta was also incredible. My selections were favorites of the table. A dinner companion ordered a steak but it was a little over cooked but the manager Rory went above and beyond taking care of us. I'm not sure what they do to make the most perfect French fries but hands down I've never had one like this. Figure out a way to order them. The Can't Elope cocktail was the best I had in Newport. It was balanced, refreshing and all around perfection. We also loved the Paper Tiger! Finished with a sticky toffee pudding that was a star of the meal. I wish I wasn't so full or I would have finished it I cannot recommend this restaurant enough 5 stars.

Nestled in the Wharf, it was a cute little place with both an up and downstairs. We reserved a spot for around 5:30 (in April) and it was pretty open. There weren't too customers yet, and it was nice and quiet. If you're looking for a ton of space for the seating area, I will say that there isn't too much room/it's pretty nice and cozy! At Wharf Southern Kitchen and Whiskey Bar, they've got a line of booths along the wall, a bar area right in the center and at the actual bar, a high top, another bar at one of the entrances, and a table that seats six. Now let's chat about the service. Our waitress was wonderful, patient, and was extremely helpful when asked questions and also gave SUCH wonderful suggestions. There were MANY fantastic choices on their menu and I was having a pretty difficult time narrowing down which one I really wanted, but with our waitress's help, I was able to choose pretty quickly (and they were AMAZING choices!) Now the food! The wait for the food honestly wasn't that long, and when we got it, we ABSOLUTELY CHOWED... -The Crispy Chicken Bites were AMAZING! I ended up upgrading to the Buffalo Style, and it DID NOT disappoint at all! The Bleu Cheese crumbles were just the perfect amount, and the Buffalo sauce was JUST enough to still enjoy the crispiness of the chicken. I DID ask for ranch on the side, and that just was *chef's kiss*! -I've never had fried pickles before, but I certainly have never seen a restaurant do it with whole pickles. Though it was my first time trying fried pickles, it tasted great! I wouldn't say it's anything special, but it's a great, and lighter on the fried side, appetizer! -I was having a hard time choosing what entree to enjoy, but I'M SOOOO glad that I went with the Smoked Brisket Chopped Cheese! I'm not a big brisket girl, but I will say that this was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! At first when it came out on the bun, I was a little skeptical of how it would taste, but it definitely didn't disappoint! The brisket was cooked SO well with the perfect amount of seasoning, and it all just melted so perfectly together as I was eating it. And the tater tots were SO AMAZING (though on the saltier side) and SO perfectly crispy. I've only got great things to say about Wharf Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar & I WILL be back here/will suggest it to my friends visiting Newport one day!

I didn't see any particular difference between their "jumbo poached shrimp" and regular shrimp I've seen in a typical meal where you upcharge for shrimp. The salad was good otherwise and the service was fast and polite.
