If you have a German car, Thane, the current shop manager, knows what he's doing and will work with you to get the parts you need and schedule your service. Of course, if you have a German high maintenance car (and all of the higher-end ones certainly are) you need to be on top of maintenance and be specific with what you want and your expectations. I recently came in to get my thermostat changed on my Mercedes, had first gone to the dealership for the diagnostic but they were trying to charge me an arm and a leg for the repair. I came across this place on yelp. They have really good reviews and I can see why, their customer service is top-tier. Took my Audi in for oil leaks, spark plugs and gaskets, they did right and got all my issues resolved; I paid a good amount of money to get my Audi back in shape but its worth it when you go with Akbar. Update: They installed a new intake manifold which l didn't bring it in for and l ended up spending over 1,000; brought it in for leaks and check engine light and when i got it back the light was still showing up and the leaks were uglier than before. The intake takes 6 bolts and i found out they only put 2. read more

Damaged my vehIcle and never paid to have repaired. This place is bad news, the chick that runs it is shady as they come. My sprinter van was lifted by the pinch welds on the body causing the body to buckle. The owner offered to have her friends body shop do the repairs at a cost of $3k and two weeks down time. She then balked wHen asked to spilt the rental cost of a replacement van while repairs were being done. The reality is there is a $10k repair bill from the dealership coming her way. I wouldn't trust this place to wash my car. It was a legit shop when her ex husband ran it, now it's a joke. Beware, and stay far away. read more

Wow these guys are AMAZING!! I had picked up a S class a few month back and it's been serviced by MB since day 1. I planned on continuing that trend. Car only has about 25,000 miles on it and I love it. Well one day the auxiliary battery warning light came on and I call MB. Well the cost was around $600 to $700 to replace it and would be a week before they could look at it. I was referred here and I was so glad I took that advise. 2 days later and almost $300 less. I bought my 2015 VW Passat two years ago and for the last year and a half the AC has been intermittent, before failing completely 2 months ago. Also, four months ago the several lights on the instrument cluster were suddenly on with no apparent reason. Over the years I had taken my car to the dealership several times to investigate the AC issue, but of course with intermittent problems, it wouldn't fail in their possession, and they wouldn't take the time to investigate it. So after the instrument cluster issue, we took it to another German auto repair shop and we were told it was a bad instrument cluster and it would be $4000(!!) to replace, and the part was back-ordered. They also refilled the freon but didn't do any kind of testing on it - they just noted the freon was low. While in a gas line at Costco one evening soon after, vapors came out of the vents and then the AC completely died. To say I was very discouraged was an understatement. I still owed on the car, can't sell it the way it was, and I was stuck. Then last week after work the car wouldn't start, ugh. It clicked but then nothing. I literally stood on the brake and finally the car started (push button start) The next day, at my wits end I called another reputable mechanic, and after patiently listening to my sad story he kindly told me he would like to help but he does not work on VW's. But...he knows who does. Akbar Auto Service! I called them last Friday and spoke to Robert. Told him my long sad story and he said to bring it on Monday. Monday late afternoon I got an update: the battery was bad, a wheel speed sensor was bad, and they would need time to investigate the AC. Yes! They were going to take the time to actually investigate my car's issues! Turns out, with VW an AGM battery is the best way to go, after doing thorough testing the AC compressor was deemed done, and the wheel sensor needed to be replaced. I picked it up tonight and I am THRILLED! The dash lights are off! And the AC is COLD! All for far less than what the other German mechanic quoted me, for something that wouldn't have solve the problems. I can't thank Robert and his technician's enough for saving my VW Passat. read more

Ok, so I took my car back to Akbar. Only because I heard that John was no longer working there. The new owner was so helpful and kind. She was very understanding with my compliant. She also apologized for John's treatment of me. There is a new guy working there by the name of Jim. I believe he is the manager. He knows what he is doing and was very honest. They looked at my car right away and corrected everything that was wrong. I was so thankful and very appreciative. I just had to write this review. Mike was very easy to talk to, and answered all my questions. He didn't just take care of the service for this visit, but gave an introduction to his shop and explained that he wants to keep customers long-term by taking care of them properly and giving good service at a fair and honest price. He told me what things need to be done on my c-class in the near future, and gave an honest timeline on when those items will be necessary. Don't bring your car here. I was looking for a Euro specialist to fix my check engine light. I knew what the problem was and it should have been a simple fix. Instead, they ended up telling me I needed a bunch of other things. Since this place came highly recommended, I went against my better judgment and let them do everything they "found" during the initial inspection. They worked on my car for three hours and charged me over $1,000. That's just for labor- not including the parts! That's over $330 an hour- insane! THEN, when I went to pick my car up, they told me the battery was dead. I thought that was weird since I had literally zero problems related to the battery pre Akbar. The manager tried telling me it had something to do with my cars computer and chances were that I'd have to replace that too. I picked up a battery at AutoZone on my way to get the car (they said that would be ok). I watched them install the battery in literally 10 minutes. They tried to charge me another $110!!! I told them absolutely not and they removed it from the bill. Now the best part. On my way home, the check engine light comes back on! They never even fixed the original problem that I went there for! But wait, there's more... My car has automatic headlights which I always leave on. When I got home and turned the car off, the "lights on dinging" was going off. I thought to myself, "that's strange, I never leave my lights on". And that's when I realized they killed my battery!!! I spoke to Perry, the owner, about all of this. She said she would look into it and get back to me. Never heard back. Dishonest, poor quality repair facility. Not sure how they have 4 stars but suspect that won't last long. read more
