I came here for my birthday last year and had a great experience. Every dish was truly amazing and although it was super pricey I really enjoyed it here. The service was decent, a little slow but worth the wait. I loved the ambiance and it's a beautiful restaurant.

    Risotto with shiitake mushrooms

Let's start with the ambiance...very romantic or intimate for larger groups. Went to the restaurant on a Thursday and sat inside. Most folks were seating outside. This restaurant is in the middle of a hotel that looks like apartments. It took a while for a first timer who's not familiar with the area to find. There's plenty of street parking around the property. I did also see signs for valet parking but unclear about pricing. The food was shared within our group. I don't take picture of everything but this Risotto with mushrooms pictured...whew I inhaled that food. So creamy, tasty, and the mushroom had a bit of a crunch. I also tasted the salmon pate appetizer with chips. So, so good! We had one server that greeted us and took our order. But we interacted with two others or what maybe the managers. The service is spectacular and you are well taken care of. I will be bringing my spouse here next time we're in the area. Thank you for a wonderful visit!

The food here is exquisite. If you're in the area I highly recommend making a reservation here. The service is elite and the ambiance makes you feel like you're in a French bistro. Very classy atmosphere. If you're a hotel guest, you'll get priority seating options, I also have direct contacts here if you're ever wanting a reservation!

My wife and I were really looking forward to celebrating our anniversary at Perseid since we have had several wonderful experiences at Bludorn. The location is very interesting, the Hotel St Augustine. This hotel is like no other in Houston. Absolutely loved the ambiance of the restaurant. The service was not good. Our server was very nice, but she was slow, forgot our orders at two different incidents, and had to continually ask her to refill our water. The food was a conundrum. One minute they are hitting a grand slam and other times they grounded out. The bread, squash blossoms, and the hanger/flank steak (come tender remember which one), and wild boar bolognese were so good. The tuna tartine and bib lettuce salad were okay. Regret not getting the Caesar salad. My wife was so excited to get the beignets. Wow they absolutely sucked. They were room temp on the outside and slightly cold on the inside. They had a rubbery consistency. So bad! If I'm spending $200 on a meal I expect more. Definitely will not be back, but may do a staycation at the Hotel St. Augustine.

    Wild boar bolognese (full portion)

Found this restaurant via HRW, but ended up not ordering off of the HRW menu as it didn't have notable entrees from the main menu AND the HRW menu was different than the website. Honestly, it's a pet peeve of mine when restaurants don't put their best foot forward on a HRW menu and even worse when you show up and the menu is different. FYI we were going to order the trout and it had been replaced by salmon. After some deliberation since we could not go with Plan A, our off menu picks were the salmon dip, wild boar bolognese, and the snapper. The salmon dip was very good (5/5), and I could taste the smokiness. The chips were crisp, but some were oversalted and overwhelmed the bite in some cases. Now, let me just tell you, this was a dainty portion and not meant to be shared. I was informed the HRW portion was even smaller, so I'm glad we ordered off the main menu, or else we would have each only gotten one bite a piece. The wild boar bolognese was indeed top notch (5/5) as the pasta was cooked perfectly and the ratio of pasta to bolognese was just right. Now, it did get to be too much for me by the end, but that's likely because I usually prefer a cream/white sauce. We did order the full order, and it's definitely a sharing plate. We ended up taking some home - maybe 2-3 bites worth. The snapper was done well (4/5), but I'd still take the bolognese over the snapper. We finished by splitting the chocolate entremet (5+/5), which comes with coffee ice cream, and I'd return just for this dish. I don't drink coffee, but I love coffee flavored desserts, and the ice cream is very coffee forward. Add the moist, rich, chocolate cake, and it was the perfect bite. There was something crispy in on the plate, and it added some nice texture. I am not a fan of caramel in general, but the salted caramel here was just enough to enhance the bite. As far as service (4.5/5), it was excellent as expected of a high-end restaurant, but I knocked it half a point because of a bizarre exchange with the waiter at the beginning of our meal. After noticing that the trout on the HRW had been replaced by a salmon, I asked "So how's the salmon?" I expected either a thumbs up or down, or some description of how it was prepared, but I got neither. Instead, I received a mansplaining of how salmon was a fish and just like trout. First of all, I think salmon is a very distinct fish and not like any other. The fact that he tried to tell me that trout was the same thing as salmon was concerning. And that he felt like he had to tell me that salmon was a fish was also a bit insulting. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he didn't understand my question. As others have said, street parking is abundant - I did not see any street signs prohibiting parking during certain hours. Also, this "hotel" is not like a typical Marriott or Hyatt - it's multiple buildings sprawled over a large area (no high rise) with a resort type feel. Walk in through any of the open gates and follow the signs to the restaurant. They don't have a dress code, but I did notice all the men wore pants and all the women wore dresses (mostly below the knee). Nothing too formal, but I was glad I chose to wear a summer dress (although above the knee).

    Short Rib
    Casey B.

Skip the short rib. While tender, the flavor profile was nonexistent. (I will say that they removed this from our bill, which I appreciate.) Go for the shrimp and grits--it is flavorful and the grits are, perhaps, the creamiest grits I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Add some bacon on the side and sit back. Enjoy the modern aesthetic of this artsy place. Service wasn't extraordinary...a little on the slow side. The beignets are peachy, but could have been warmer.

They're tucked away inside this quite unique hotel San Augustine in Montrose, this is a pretty spot to visit if you can navigate to it. It's the onsite dining option for the hotel but certainly open to the public. Upscale bistro appearance on the inside and you get plenty of added visuals from the hotel courtyard. The service is professional and polite, ready to help you all along your meal. I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the appetizers, all of the hit the mark for me in interesting and different ways. The Duck terrine (loaf), was just something I was trying on a whim and somehow the bite that was put together with the jam, mustard, pickles, and greens was probably one of my favorite things I've tried in a while. Tuna tartine was executed at a high level, and just hits the notes you want for fresh fish. My Mahi Mahi was cooked and seasoned well but I think the sandwich just looks sad and the toppings don't add enough to make this necessary as a handheld item. The rest of the entrees looked great, if not familiar but still having something unexpected included. Aaron Bludorn continues his batting average hit streak for Houston restaurants at Perseid.

    Chicken Persillade

We came during Houston Restaurant Weeks and we are glad we made the trip. The restaurant has great decor and it's in the middle of a new hotel. Very cool vibes. The service was good and the waiter was attentive and friendly. We liked the ambiance of this place. A nice place to eat. The food was really good. I loved the salmon dip and the beignets were probably some of the best I've ever had. The chicken was nicely cooked and the dish was delicious, but maybe not what I would get on a non-HRW visit. The trout was awesome and perfectly cooked, but maybe a little small. But given that we're talking about the $25 HRW Brunch, I guess I understand. The gazpacho was good too. My wife thought it was a little acidic. Overall, I do recommend this place and think it's worth the visit. I may have had critiques, but by no means does that mean it was a great meal. Check it out if you have a chance.

Fairly interesting spot inside the revamped apartments which make up the new "hotel" in the St. Thomas area. Street parking is what's available for this area. The restaurant was quite hard to find as it's located inside the hotel complex. The interior is modern and full service. We ordered most of the limited appetizer menu; tuna tartine (4/5), duck terrine (4/5), smoked salmon dip (3.5/5), squash blossoms (3/5). The Caesar salad was solid (4.5/5) and done well. On the whole, the apps were good. The squash blossoms really didn't have much flavor and wasn't very recognizable. I got the red snapper for main, and it was solid (4/5). The sauce was delicious and the fish was cooked well as the skin had some texture and the filet was tender. Overall, a solid take. Hard to find!

I really wanted to love this place, but the experience just wasn't it. Parking was confusing, so I called the restaurant for directions, but even then the instructions weren't clear and ended up having to valet. Thank goodness valet people had umbrella because it was pouring that day and the walk to the restaurant was quite long. Because of that, I ended up arriving about 5 minutes past the 15-minute grace period. Despite having called ahead, they didn't hold the table and told me it would now be an hour wait. I ended up sitting at the bar instead, which was frustrating. The food itself was good, but the poor handling of service and lack of flexibility really took away from the experience. With so many other great spots in Houston, it's hard to justify coming back when the basics like parking and reservations aren't handled well.

Where do I even begin. I was brought here to celebrate a belated bday. From the moment we walked in we felt warmly welcomed. The ambiance was warm and cozy yet high end luxe. I loved every single detail in the decor. Service was attentive and friendly. The staff knows the menu thoroughly which made for great suggestions. The food was extraordinarily delectable. I would go back just for the appetizers at any point. My pork shoulder atop a heartwarming yet citrus lentil bed just played on my taste buds so well. The wine selection was fabulous and the cocktails just as great. The apple pie and cream stuffed beignets were the happy ending to a great meal. 10/10 would recommend!

My friend and I came with my daughter to celebrate our friendship anniversary. I thought the overall service was attentive but casual and relaxed. They even brought out extra plates for my daughter - muy cute. The most exciting part of the menu is the appetizers. The ratatouille and escargot are not to be missed. My friend was terrified of ordering it but we did anyway and loved every bite. Honestly, all you could taste was butter and mushrooms. The ratatouille was so cozy. It reminded me of a stew in terms of taste but was full of vegetables and a crusty Parmesan number on top. Of the two desserts we ordered - the chocolate was the full star. I would come back just to have another slice. We actually didn't order any mains as I've seen them on many restaurant menus although I'm sure they would be done well here. The appetizers were actually a great size, bigger than tapas but not as big as a main.

Dined in on a Saturday at 7:45 pm for a party of 5. I was the first to arrive and had to wait at the bar. I was seated when my second guest arrived. Our server, Andrew, was kind but a tad timid and unfamiliar with some of the dishes we asked about. The light was on, but there was no one upstairs. We ordered: Smoked salmon dip: very tasty, not too smoky Duck terrine: good ole duck meatloaf, it comes with homemade biscuit, but we ate the chips from the smoked salmon with it, needs a crunch Caesar salad: very good flavors, one of the best Caesar salad, croutons were giant and fresh Burrata salad (was given on accident): we didn't order this, and probably never will, it was least liked dish Squash blossom: batter was too thick, can't see the blossom, the stuffing was just ok, looked and tasted like the jalapeño poppers from Jack in the crack Escargot en Vol au Vent: bland, the snails are micro size Saint Augustine burger: flavors are odd, the buns were soaked up in the meat juice and was super soggy, fries were good Wild boar bolognese: second favorite dish Red snapper: favorite main dish, fresh snapper Pommes puree: creamy goodness Beignets: decent fried goodness Crème brulee: the cream was not creamy enough but good flavors

They had specialty cocktails and I settled with their "Baby Breeze" gin based that was refreshing and went down so easily dangerous. Once my party arrived, we were seated at our table for 10 people. Service again was very attentive, but it seemed we were being rushed after finishing our items. While we appreciated the cleanliness, it did feel overbearing and my friend had silverware dropped on him. Their Spring 2026 menu is currently being served and for my meal, I kept it simple and went with medium rare 12oz Prime NY Strip that came with a twice baked potato and choice of sauce, I chose bordelaise. For the price range, I would've thought it be savory and warm, it arrived but was underwhelming. Had minimal flavor and felt the baked potato was better. And the Bludorn rolls were much welcomed and enjoyable with their fluffy and slightly sweet taste. My friend ordered the Baked Alaska, and while the experience (lighting it on fire) was enjoyable, biting into the the dessert caused for leaving the cake unfinished, it tasted burned because the fire wasn't put out in timely manner. Friend shared that their brunch experience was much better than our dinner experience and I am willing to give it another chance for that reason, but if this is a Michelin recommended place, I'd think it would be consistent in it's dishes being enjoyable every time.

I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Nonno's Pasta - this dish was my least favorite. I found the flavors to be too cheese forward with not enough acid; Jamon With Your Bad Self - while not much to look at, this dish was outstanding. The pork's texture was simply magical, and the flavors well-balanced. On the side, we had the Fingerlingin Good potatoes, and they lived up to their name: pleasantly crispy and bursting with savory goodness. Desserts: the Olive Oil Cake was a dream: incredibly moist and tender with vanilla richness and a kiss of lemon. The Black Bottom Pie was not my favorite. I would the salt to be too much and couldn't eat more than 2 bites because of it. Service: warm, gracious, attentive, and efficient. As for ambiance, this is where the restaurant misses the mark for me. It's in an old house, and when we walked in, that's exactly what I smelled: old house. Still, if you're looking for a unique, creative menu that delivers on flavors, add nobie's to your bingo card.

After entering, you are immediately greeted like family in a relaxing environment but with top notch food. It was my friend's bday so we celebrated with complimentary bubbles which was a nice touch. We enjoyed a large portion of their limited/rotating menu that did not disappoint. The tuna was my favorite. 10/10. A very extensive, higher end wine list complemented the meal nicely. Definitely need reservations -- book as early as possible. Seating is very limited especially for larger parties. Parking --- street parking around the block. Wasn't too difficult. Definitely a must try!

We made reservations several days in advance and still were only able to get patio seats. The vibe of the place is so Houston. It's a really nice restaurant - inside is small and cozy, decorated beautifully. The patio only has 2 tables but it's elegant. And it looks out at the highway, billboards, downtown, and abandoned homeless encampments. During dinner, we had a bachelorette party bus park beside us and a couple shirtless guys come up from the bayou with fishing poles. But it works - that's Houston! Food itself was good, but not great. I'll give it 5/5 stars for originality - each dish was unlike anything I've had elsewhere. - ratatouille- 4/5 - it was interesting, and mostly loved that it was soaking in some delicious olive oil. - broth- 4/5 - a nice little spicy kick, but otherwise was just okay - Tuna sashimi - 5/5 - fish was fresh and tasty! Appreciated the crunch between the layers of tuna. - French cheese pancake - 4/5 - generally can't go wrong with bread and cheese. It's interesting, and I liked the green onions topping it. - Fried shrimp and shiso- 4/5 - didn't love the sauce this came with, but otherwise this almost tasted like a jalapeno popper with shrimp. - snapper - 3/5 - poached, and pretty bland. Came with a very fishy seaweed reduction on the side. - potatoes side - 2/5 - don't get these unless you're looking for just boiled potatoes. They're pretty flavorless. Overall, interesting food for a one time visit, but unlikely a place we'll return to.

The team behind the popular restaurant Nobie's opened up this tiki inspired restaurant. Tiki bars happen to be one of my favorite varieties of bars so I was more than excited to finally check it off my list. I had recently seen them on the Food Network as well. They share a lot with another popular dining spot so parking can be a little difficult in their lot. You can find street parking or park across the street in an overflow lot. Customer service was great from start to finish. We had just ate next door and our intentions were to come in here just for cocktails, but I couldn't leave without trying some of the popular items. I wanted the most tropical drink I could find on the menu so I started off with the Blue Hawaiian. I saw fire on the description so my extra self needed to have it. I'm a big rum guy so this drink was right up my alley and very boozy with two types of rum. It was very coconut forward with pineapple being the secondary flavor. One was enough for me to feel just right. Since we had just ate, we decided to share the World Famous Cheeseburger. This was a great burger. I don't know if they were going for the smash effect, but it had smash burger characteristics. It had all my favorite things that are musts on a burger like American cheese and red onions. It also had a very nice chili aioli that added great flavor to the burger. I came on another stop for a drink visit shortly after and tried the pork dumplings and popcorn chicken. These were also very good. If I lived in the area, this place would easily be a place I would frequent often. I will most definitely be back!
