The RETAIL cost of this pump is $340 and is readily available. I was given a cost of over $1400. Absurd. It's the cost of the pump (wholesale) plus 1.5 hours labor TOPS. Of course while he was there, he tried selling me on all these silver, gold, and platinum maintenance plans. I was still charged $129.00 just to be given a ridiculous price with no work performed. But that's the idea isn't it? The customer doesn't want to just flush away $129.00 for nothing so you're bullied into having them do it no matter how obscene the price is. By the way, just two years ago they were charging $69. Apparently that wasn't enough pressure for people.

Dan and Sam have been stand-out with the depth of their answers to my questions. I appreciate that immensely as a demonstration of how much they care about the subject matter, and how much they care about ensuring I'm properly informed on what is happening. Sam and his crew were out all day yesterday dismantling the old boiler and installing the new one. They were friendly and engaged the whole time letting me observe the process. Sam called me over throughout to show me up close what had corroded in my old boiler, and to explain to me how it happened. He did the same during install of the new boiler to demonstrate all the critical aspects for maintenance--including letting me unscrew and rescrew a piece to practice for future cleaning. The new boiler is running smoothly right now. I feel like I understand its pieces. Sam even took an interest in diagnosing why my bathroom heating panel (which has never worked) wasn't heating. He cleaned out its vent and it has heat now. My cat is very happy to be warm right now. From the way Sam and his crew talked through all the aspects of the work they were doing, it was clear they take pride in the quality of the work. This wasn't just a job to get over and done with. And what's more, they did it for $2k cheaper than my competing quote. Max Heating and Cooling will be the first people I call for any plumbing projects I have going forward.

Called them last year to perform yearly maintenance on an old oil tank and furnace in a crawlspace and they did great work and gave great advice! This is a business you can trust! This year when our furnace stopped working mid December: Called up Genove right away and they had someone out the same day to try and help us! We knew the furnace was on the last of its nine lives so Richie came and took a look and let us know our options! He's super knowledgeable and let us know about the Mass Rebate program to save us money! We chose to go with a new electric heat pump over just replacing the furnace because our air conditioning unit was older too and we wanted to get it all under control! This made communicating with them extremely difficult the entire time. The morning they were supposed to arrive at 9 am so I took the day off from work. They didn't show up until several hours later with no communication regarding that. The man who serviced our heater had never seen our type of system before. He tinkered with it for a couple hours and finally "fixed" it. A few days later we were without heat. We called them several times, leaving them a message, but they did not get back to us. We were about to hire someone else to come, but the next morning they finally said they would come take a look, free of charge. The man came back and ended up replacing a part. We got an invoice in the mail for that part despite the free of charge promise. Shortly after that our heater broke again so we ended up calling a different company. After their last visit and the previous invoice for the part, we received ANOTHER invoice in the mail for a much larger charge than the previous. We reached out to Chambers several times trying to figure out what that invoice was for, as their last visit was free of charge. To this day we have not heard back from them even after writing them a letter to remind them of what happened. They continue to send us delinquent payment invoices and will not respond to us when we reach out to them.

I recently decided to try replacing my very old sink disposal that was making a loud grinding noise. It was at least 30 years old so I wasn't surprised. The repair was surprisingly easy as I used the same brand to replace and the flange is the same after decades so I didn't need to do the hard work of interacting with the sink itself. When I pulled out the old unit, sure enough there was Ken's sticker on it from when he installed it for the prior owners of my home decades earlier! It was so old it didn't have an area code needed. Ken's team also told me about some repairs that could be safely deferred and done with the help of the local town when they did other repairs they are responsible for, which saved me about $1000. This past week, I asked them to do what was supposedly a quick and easy faucet replacement in a bathroom sink but it turned out to be more complicated than expected.
