There's a lot I love about Pet Food Express. At the top of my list is the fact that the staff is so friendly and helpful. Always kind to me and my sweet dog. Next on my list is their buy 3 get 1 free promo on many (all?) items in their store. Third is how easy it is to use their self-washing stations to bathe my dog. I do wish (well, my dog wishes) that the air from the blow dryer was a lot warmer. But otherwise, I love the convenience of these stations and fact that I don't have to break my back leaning over my bathtub. read more

They have only "gourmet" / healthy options for your pets, which is great. You won't find Kal Kan or Purina here. I'm not a fan with its cray-cray high prices. Service was excellent. We just stopped in (while walking by) to buy a can of dog food, which we occasionally give for a change to our pooch instead of fresh chicken, rice, and veg. We were looking for Merrick's, which they do not carry. Instead, he directed to the cans that were priced $3.50-$7 per can. We got one, and ran for the hills. Small stuffed animals for $16? Quite possibly the best customer service I've ever had, ever!!! A huge thank you to Karen, Danielle, and James - Who so kindly open their doors after they were already locked up, after we had discovered that our three cats had acquired fleas - pretty bad too. My girls were very upset to see this happen to their cats and needed a solution right away. We drove as fast as we could to the pet store and we were about five minutes after closing hours, but the employees saw us at the door were extremely gracious to unlock their doors and let us in. It's testimony to the store's friendliness! Fabulous customer service and they are thoughtful about age of animal, needs and even an owner's budget. Expect to find products that are most likely all natural or of cleaner ingredients like Wellness or Earthbath. Toys like Kong selections for every type of pet. And pound for pound there's not a huge price gap in food from the stuff you find in grocery stores. Don't be bashful about not finding any grocery store brands and ask for food recommendations. - grooming products - foods - crates, kennels, habitats, beds - no live animals on premise unless an adoption day, otherwise only crickets for reptile foods - snack bins galore (from bulk biscuits to cow hide) - training items - potty things from training pads & diapers, to earth-friendly doody bags and natural pet stain treatments - on-site, self-service dog bathing No, they do not sell pets, but host animal adoption days and mobile vet clinics. I love the Pet Food Express in Lafayette. It is always busy when I go and it's not hard to figure out why. If not helping others, staff always greets customers when they walk in the door. They walk with you to the product you ask for and carry your purchases to the check out desk. Sadly my dog was diagnosed with lymphoma and optimistically given 8 weeks to live. After receiving the diagnosis I needed to buy soft pate canned food for him because he lost interest in eating. The one who has helped me the most often is Chris. From day 1 when I told her the sad diagnosis she talked to me about her experiences with her seriously ill dogs and made several recommendations of what to feed him. She was right, most of her recommendations my dog ate right away. Shortly after he passed I called Pet Food Express and asked to speak to Chris to tell her that he had passed away and I had several cans of dog food not eaten and a new recently opened large bag of kibbles. She told me to bring them down and I could get a credit for the unused canned dog food and that the open bag of kibbles would be donated to a shelter. I asked when she'd be working and she gave me her schedule. When I arrived she saw me and helped me right away. I was relieved that I picked a week day and time when I figured the store wouldn't be too busy. I thanked her for assisting me right away and not having to wait around the store looking at all the fun dog products and feeling the tears overflow once again. read more

I rescued an adorable 8 month old pit bull a couple weeks ago. His name is Doobster, and although he is a huge sweetheart, most people are very scared of him. Not only is he my first dog, but my first pet ever, so to say I had no idea how to best care for him would be an understatement. From the second I brought Doobster into petfood express however, everyone there made us feel very comfortable, and they all showed Doobster so much love. Mia helped me with everything I needed for Doobster, and she did it all while teaching me how to train him some as well. All of the suggestions she made were ones that were best for my dog and our situation, and I could really feel and appreciated her genuine love of animals. I had to pop back in a few times over the next few days to get things I missed and even return some toys that Doobster had already torn apart. The help I received from Glenna, Amanda, Terry and everyone I dealt with at this store was just great, and they were all knowledgeable and very caring about animals. Their prices are fair also. The staff here is EXCELLENT & by excellent I mean completely amazing! I love how they're always willing to help and help is not hard to find when you're here. Whenever I go to Petsmart or Petco, I always have trouble finding an employee, let alone an employee that has knowledge on the products theyre selling. I even bought a crate and a playpen for my puppy and they made sure I bought them big enough so I can still use them when my puppy grows at his full size (he's going to be big and he's already grown so much since I got these things). A young man also helped me put them in my car which was super nice, I wish I had cash on me to give him a tip. I also wanted to thank the employee that recommended the food and treats from "just food for dogs," my dog loves them & I love how its super healthy for him! If you are hesitating to come here, don't. This is literally the best pet store along with the best employees and products. read more

I came in 10 minutes before closing and was helped by Benji (not his real name because I can't pronounce it) who spent extra time with me, helped me find food that would help our dog and even gave us some pumpkin supplement for free to help in the transition from one food to the other. Great pet supply store. I get my dog's dry food, treats, and toys here. Reasonably priced. They also have a great wash center outfitted with about 4 or 5 baths designed specially for cleaning your dogs (or cats maybe, hah!). They're elevated at human height so you don't have to hunch over like you would at home. They have stairs built in that make it easy for your pet to walk right up and into the recessed bath. The wash has a few different shampoos. Attached shower-head hose for washing and rinsing. Comes with towels for you to dry your pet and water resistant aprons to keep your clothes dry! The employees there are also very knowledgable. We discussed and learned about different brands of food, what to look for, what's best, what's healthy etc. Good store. Fun Fact: I adopted my dog from an organization that used to come here on Saturdays with all their dogs that needed homes. He's been with me since and the rest is history! :-) read more

Whenever you walk into a business and the customer service you receive is far beyond what you ever expected; time must be made to reach out with a big fat shout out to this company. We had never been here before and we tend to just randomly run into pet supply businesses for whatever it is we need. From now on this is our go to pet getters! If I could give more than 5 stars, 5 kudos, and 5 hip hip hoorays; I would! We specifically went in for just one thing. This is a great pet food store, but it's more than just that--it seems to be a great forum for supporting family pets. We get great advise from the staff, who are always upbeat. I'm a dog person, but these folks are REALLY dog people! Staff is friendly and knowledgable. The selection of food, treats, toys, accessories is more than sufficient. They seem to have struck the right balance in offering just enough choices without overwhelming. My husky puppy, Joey, loves it there. It's her favorite place in town. That may have something to do with the fact that everyone there always greets her warmly and plies her with treats. This store is located across from Diablo Foods. This review is based on 12 visits in the last 4 months. The staff is young and friendly. They're always willing to assist. This store/chain is truly pet based. They have low cost shot clinics (I think once every month). They also have training classes (~$150 for six 1 hour sessions). There is also a self wash center which is AWESOME. It's about $13 and they provide all the soap, water, blow dryer (cold air only for your dogs safety) and 2 towels. Large dog owners should get the extra towels (add $.50 or $1). The staff even cleans up for you. read more

I went in to the Lafayette Pet Food Express today to find out what I needed for our new kitten. (we are picking her up tomorrow) What a friendly staff! As I browsed the store, I was greeted by 4 super friendly employees: Justin, Tim, Paul and Alyssa. They were fantastic and took the time to educate me about so many kitten issues including types of kitty litter, moist food vs. kibble, nail care, and how to acclimatize her to our home. Today I came by to purchase birthday goodies for my dog who is turning two years old tomorrow. I was browsing around until one of the workers, Austin, sparked up a conversation about my dog and helped me out throughout my entire shopping experience. He was so helpful and whenever he spoke about animals you can tell he has a strong passion for them. He made good recommendations, guided me throughout the store, and answered all of my questions without any hesitation. I have been going to the large chains for my cat needs for years, and am so glad that I finally came upon this little gem. The two experiences I have had in Pet Food Express have been amazing. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable with animal food, litter, accessories, etc. It is obvious that the people working there have a genuine interest in animals and have been trained exceptionally well. The selection is different than I am use to, but my cat and I have no complaints to the new products we have tried thus far. I am glad this place is right around the corner. I was walking around trying to find if there was another place for the dog biscuits and not only did no one ask if I needed help. I couldn't even find anyone on the floor to ask! -Little selection. Such a cool pet store. They have washing stations for your pup, the best sales on toys that usually NEVER go on sale (like CHUCKIT), and a great selection of healthy dog chews. The staff is super friendly and helpful I do miss being able to walk there with my dog, look around (even if we didn't get anything) and chat. It's rare to find a chain pet store that carries raw food, however, I do wish the raw options were better. read more

Good and Bad.. If you're looking for Dog or Cat Food (as the name implies) Pet Food Express is the place to go. Read through all the reviews and can see that they are fairly right on.. The people (guy) did seem nice and helpful.. I was actually looking for some supplies for FISH, there are NO FISH SUPPLIES (ok maybe an endcap with some food / chemicals and a pump. ) I will say you need to use your smartphone and price check.. The items I looked at were water test strips, normally $10 at other stores, there it was $15.. A pump that you can get for $10-$12 in other places was $19 (pretty much double). Maybe others can check and review the Dog / Cat food prices, but the items I checked were all 25%+ more here.. Just check the prices and compare to other local stores.. Store is nice and clean though. read more
