We have a beautiful, funny, cuddly 8mos domestic short hair, black kitty named Binx! Yes, like Hocus Pocus but, Binx is a girl, Thackerella Binx...like Thackeray Binx, get It?...no?....just me? We always talked about how we wanted Binx to have the best of the best, especially when it comes to food. Contrary to popular belief, we are her humans and she is our fur child. When we took her to her dr, they pushed science diet on us. Being silly, gullible (when it comes to being first time fur parents), we went with it. We fed Binx science diet BS. It was when we took her to her groomer, we were told that her coat isn't as shiny or vibrant as black cats could be. We went over Binx' diet and in that moment I felt like the worst person in the world. How could I sit there and read labels for myself and my husband and not for Binx. After I did some crying (so shame), we went to a local high end store where we live and we stocked Binx up on the good food! Before we flew into town, I looked up which pet stores carried her food. To my surprise, this location carries all three brands that Binx eats! -Fromm -Tiki Cat -Weruva/B.F.F SCOOOOOOORE! Dawn is the best! She helped us out the two times we stepped in to drop dough on this bubbly, fun loving, hilarious, baby kitty. She's super friendly and was able to answer all of our questions. I'm a teacher and my class is studying insects. I was in need of some crickets. In the past the pet store would just give me a plastic bag of crickets. At Pet Food Express you get so much more. We visit a few times a month to get toenails trimmed through the VIP vet program that is there on Saturdays and then to stop by the baths. If you might do it often, get the multipack of bath tokens. It is so easy to just walk in, ask for colors and walk to the back where the baths are. I can easily wash two medium size dogs on one token (both fluffy and need to be air dried for about 5 minutes each.) The puppies then know that we pick up packs of treats for the upcoming week and there is an amazing section for them to choose from. read more

I love this place! I bring my dog in frequently for his bath and I'm impressed with how efficient (and non stressful) the whole process is. A 30 minute bath costs $15 and includes shampoo, towels & a blow dry. When you're done, you just get to leave all of the hair in the tub - no clean up required (which is super worth it; even for my tiny short haired dog). The employees here are super nice and I like that they stock higher end natural pet products. read more

We got our puppy a couple of years ago ( I guess he's not a puppy anymore) and he has a sensitive stomach so the dog food and treats we buy him are usually not readily available , that is not something they keep in stock so we always special order what we need when we get low and they order it for us at no additional cost. After dealing with Petsmart and their BS and not being able to find what I need for our pitbull mix, we decided to stop in here to look for a Muzzle . A young lady names Luz greeted us with a smile and immediately began helping us find what we needed. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable, but well spoken and eager to help us with our problem pup. We were able to buy a better muzzle , CBD oil and CBd treats as well as info on behavior trainers in the area to help us with the stress of a fear aggressive dog. Went in today for some advice on kitty litter and help on managing my kitty peeing outside of her litter box and was assisted by Stephanie. She was knowledgeable, sympathetic and very helpful in coming up with possible solutions. The manager (which I didn't get his name) was also very helpful with his suggestions. I was also told that if I didn't like a product, I could bring it back and exchange it for another brand. Plus I received a few free sample products to try out. I have been in this store 4 times since they opened. Everytime I have left with more help and info than I had expected when I walked in. Always a different employee, but always I came out thinking that it was a better experience than buying on the internet, because I wouldn't have had the knowledge it took to purchase the right items for my 3 pets. I love this pet store! Really clean and well organized shop. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I would give store 5 stars, but the only drawback is that I have to go elsewhere for my cat's prescription food, but they seemed to have good reasons not to stock it. My favorite part of store by far are the washing stations in the back. Makes it so much easier to wash my dog! It's $15 for 25 minutes at the station, but you can buy 3 and get one FREE! Way cheaper than paying someone else to do it, even for a small dog. The machines are easy to use, and so much gentler on your back than using your own bathtub. You just put in your token, push the button for rinse and out comes the water. The nozzle has lots of settings so you can adjust the strength of the water stream for your dog's comfort. They have 2 types of shampoo and conditioner included (almond/vanilla is my fav) and you just push the button and it comes right out with the water. So easy! I have a small dog, so have time to shampoo and condition twice, using my own de-fur brush in between. Push button for warm air, and you can dry your pet quickly with the giant tube on the side of wash basin. They provide: towels shampoo/conditioner thick apron so you stay dry CLEAN UP! hallelujah! I have had older cat (12 + years). I needed to try & find some different wet cat food since he has renal disease stage 2 & getting him to eat can be a challenge from time to time. I went into this local store & was quite overwhelmed at the enormous amount of options for pet food. I asked for help & Ellie was directed to me a being the cat expert. I explained my situation & she quickly suggested a couple of both brands and flavors specifically for me to try. I picked up 6 cans (note: buy 3 get 1 free so I got 2 as a bonus). I just moved to Half Moon Bay and needed a place to wash my 3 dogs. I called and talked to a really nice guy named Winston. He told me all about the dog wash. I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was. Then he told me about the buy 3 get the 4th FREE! I also asked if he had a prepared food called Spot. He said no he did not and he told me about other prepared foods like Honest Kitchen and Grandma Lucy's. I came in a few hours later to buy food and take a look at the pet wash and met Winston. I was so impressed by how he mentioned such positive things about the company and the products they sell that when I was job hunting I found an advert with the company looking to hire. Have two dogs--one is a puppy, the other is 2 years old. We've been ordering their food from Amazon. We were having a hard time getting the pup's food so I went to Pet Food Express to hopefully pick up a bag between orders. Well, they don't carry our dog's food because the company was just bought by another, larger company, and Pet Food Express was concerned that quality may become an issue. This kid with bad facial hair (I think his name is Dan) proceeded to tell me a dizzying amount of information and made a recommendation for new food that I should try. I could not believe this 18-year old young man knew and cared so much about dog food. It completely changed my perspective of this place. I ended up going with the kid's recommendation, and about the next day, I returned to get food for my other dog. I'll be going to this shop from now on to get my dog food. I had the worst retail experiences of my life there yesterday. I went in to purchase some food for my dog, who is recovering from cancer. I wandered around and was finally approached by a young woman who asked to help. I asked for a specific food, which had been recommended by a veterinarian friend (who happens to be nationally known and on national and state veterinary boards). She said "that doesn't meet our standards." I then stated that the recommendation was made by a nationally known vet and he'd recommended the brand. She said she didn't care. She was condescending and arrogant. I told her I'd been in human medicine and veterinary medicine, too, and said that the my vet friend was associated with the top vet schools in the country and named them for her. She said, "that's nice but I'm not sure why I would need to know that and I don't care." I went to the manager but he just gave me a big blank stare. It was her demeanor, attitude, and just pure arrogance that was the turnoff. I finally said, "Look, I'll just go some place else -- and, I walked out." read more

There is literally no place like this around! The staff is incredibly helpful and welcoming and I'm amazed that they remember every dog's name when they come through the door. The selection of healthy foods is awesome. I wish we had a PFE in San Diego County!! But we visit this store every time we're in town and it is second to none!! We got to visit again during the World Dog Surfing Championships and they had a booth and offered us baths for all our sandy critters!! They made the entire event a blast with pre-party included where we all got to just hang loose, have fun and relax!! We went to the store every day while we were in town and somehow found something new and exciting to buy with the help of the amazing management and staff! They are incredibly knowledgeable about all of the products and they are the only place where we can find the boys' favorite Kiwi Kitchens treats!!! read more
