As I was entering the store I saw 5 people holding their dogs in 100 degree heat 2;00pm. I use to show dogs and expressed my concern for dogs and humans but they said they were told to wait outside. I expressed my concern to both the Manager and the Shot clinic who blamed each other and still no one went to help those dogs and humans. We come here 1x a month to give our pups a bath & once every 2 months to buy food. 1000% take advantage of Pet Food Expresses Buy 3 get the 4th free. We have 2 big floofs, and each will use up 2 wash tokens (one for wash one for dry). At $18 a token, if you buy 3 tokens you get the 4th one free, coming out to $27 per dog per wash. Such great deal for the convenience. The Buy3 get the 4th free also applies to bags of kibble! We go through 2x 22lb bags a month, so at $80 a bag before tax, we save quite a bit. I appreciate having a Petfood Express store near my neighborhood, but they're giving me no choice but to buy from Amazon, Chewy, and other big box stores. The staff is friendly, but inventory management is awful. The store heavily promotes "Buy 3 Get 1 Free" but never has enough inventory for me to take advantage of the offer. Previously when that happened, they'd honor the offer by applying a 25% discount even if they didn't have 4 of the items I needed in stock. Now, however, they refuse to honor the discount unless there are 4 items, so the last 3 visits have been wasted trips. The employees keep telling me to check back, but they still haven't restocked the items that I need to purchase for my pets. Maybe Petfood Express is experiencing financial difficulty and can't pay their vendors. Or maybe it's part of their sales strategy to stock only 3 or less of each item, so they don't have to honor their "Buy 3 Get 1 Free" offer. Regardless, it's frustrating. Time to save myself another trip and just buy online from Amazon, Chewy, Petco, or any of the other stores that offer great deals and fast, free delivery. read more

This review is for the dog washing station :). My bff has 3 corgis and I came to help wash them here. This 10000000% beats trying to wash some wiggly furry potatoes in a small house/home bath tub. I think they have a deal if you buy 3 coins you get one free. That totally adds up as my friend has 3 doggos. I went to just check it out. It's close to my work. I was looking around and I noticed they had a self service pet wash. I felt like I was bothering the employees to ask for help to start the self wash. They were kinda just rude from the beginning. I don't think I'll go to this location again. Or if I do I'll just talk to other employees than the ones I saw. One of them was nice but the others were a bit rude. The self wash was okay. I've seen better but I must say I did like the shampoo and rinse options. I was hoping the drying hose was a little stronger because my dog has thicker hair. They also only provide 2 towels which is not enough for my dog. $18 for a 25 minute cycle. Paid less and have had better quality at other places. read more

It has the certain kitty litter we were looking for and the foods the veterinary doctors are suggesting. The young lady named Ash took care of me and was very informative and helpful. She saw me buying a couple of bags of kitty litter and informed me about the buy 3 get 1 free deal going on right now and I found it appropriate to buy another bag because with 4 kitties and a 5th cat in the house you don't want to run out. So my visit was well done and all under COVID-19 procedures. They even have dog training classes for those of you looking. Our dog was getting tired of eating dry dog food all the time. My brother referred me to try DIY nutrient blend. The ingredients included were: 1. Meat: Chicken gizzards, chicken liver, and chicken thighs (skin or skinless) 2. Long grain rice 3. In the past I would buy my pet's food at suppliers like Target, Safeway, or Walmart. It wasn't until I accompanied my boyfriend to a PFE that I learned quickly how the environment is much better, and different from the rest! I've recently come here to bring our two cats to get their vaccines up to date, claw trims, and to do full physical exams. I've used VIP pet care before but one their a la carte clinics that pop up around the Bay Area. When I found out Pet Food express has an in-house VIP Pet center, it saved me the stress of finding another vet and redoing the entire process. What was great about my experience at VIP Pet was that the wait time is not long at all - even less if you make an appointment (WHICH IS ENCOURAGED SO YOU ARE GUARANTEED TIME!) I came in as a walk in on Monday with one of my two cats, and the staff helped me get a spot and ensure my pet had as much undivided attention as he needed. I learned from this, and came in around 12pm (come early to reserve a spot!) and got an appointment for my second cat - which was necessary since it was much busier this day! From my appointments, I learned about my cat's need to shed a few pounds, and was assisted in finding the best food! An in store associates gave me positive feedback on popularity of foods, benefits, and we even got an approval for the vet too. This process was so well tailored and helped me feel like I was doing the most for my pets' well being and safety. The amount of food, products, and solutions for any pet problem is insane! Getting trusted advice from pet lovers and having multiple options makes Pet Food Express the place to go. Not to mention, customer service is always above and beyond and the atmosphere is always so joyful! At both locations I go to (Campbell and blossom hill) I've been pleasantly surprised at how consistent they are with friendliness, great value options, and knowledge. Thanks for all of your help! I don't know what happened to this Pet Express, whether it's new management or corporate greed but the customer service and store policy is ridiculous . I had a merchandise store credit for $10 that i wanted to use today. They informed me it was expired because in small print on the back of the card it said I had 365 days to use it. I didn't read the fine print and the person who issued the card never verbally informed me of their policy as well. I've had store credit from all different retail stores and I've never had store credit expiration before. Thus, I didn't bother reading the fine print which is on me. But still, to have such a store policy is poor customer service. Luckily it was only $10 but what if it was $50'or $100 ? I asked the sales clerk that and she rudely told me then it expired and there's nothing they can do about it. It's store policy. That's fine because my policy is to never give business to greedy, unscrupulous and predatory stores like this. They've lost a customer for life. My husband would buy cat food here every couple of months so it's not like we were not regular customers. We have 2 cats too and have always bought all their food and litter here. I happened to forget I had that $10 store credit yet they had the nerve to tell me I should have read the fine print in the back of the card and that it's on me. Yes it is and it'll be on me to never buy anything from them ever again. I hope everyone reading this will be warned to make sure and spend your store credit before they expire! read more

This store location is bigger then the one on Capital Expressway in San Jose. It's also very clean. My dog was lucky to have a treat from one of the workers. I can not say enough amazing this about this place. Pardon my horrible memory with names, but I need to give some shoutouts. I got my puppy Feb. 11, and I brought him in with me. Michael and another young bruntette woman helped me. They showered my baby with love, and gave me so much knowledge. I had them running around the store for about an hour and a half, and they were more than happy to. I came in again the next week and met Aidan and Makani and they provided even more expansive knowledge on training, treats, and best practices. Not to mention the professionalism and genuine hospitality. I thought I'd met everyone at the store, and then I met Aimee tonight. Her knowledge on bulldogs and infection/health prone puppies was expansive. She was kind, patient, and welcomed Beans and I in with attentiveness and care. I wish I remembered everyone's names, but I've never been into an establishment that doesn't have a single bad apple. I leave Pet Food Express in Almaden smiling every single time. I really like the dogs bathing area. Everything you need is at your fingertips in order to bath your dog. Never crowded and that helps because my dog always wanted to know what's happening to the dog in the next stall. I minuses one star for what I believe to be a negative. The water is luke warm which I like but the air blower blows cold air. So my dogs ends up freezing and having their teeth chatter. I now have to walk them outside till they dry just so I don't have to see them shake from the cold. I've been to one place, although to far to drive to all the time, but it has warm air and my dogs love it. Please consider bumping up the warmth on the blow dryers. read more

I always come to Pet Food Express to give my dog a bath. If you don't want to make a mess with washing your dog in your apartment, come to Pet Food Express. They have a self-service wash (shampoo, water, dryer, and towels). When you visit, stop by the cashier and let them know you want to wash your dog - $15. The cashier will then give you a token to put in the machine. They also provide a plastic collar to borrow in case your dog doesn't wear a collar, just make sure you return it before leaving. Easy and convenient for apartment dogs to get a bath! Pet Food Express also offers pet supplies (dog food, treats, items) as well. read more

I will never go to another pet store again. I came to pet food express solely because I had a giftcard and I was in awe at how attentive and knowledgeable the staff are. Within my 20 minute there, 4 different staff members asked if they could help me (before you ask no, the store wasn't slow, there was still plenty of other customers). Each staff member also asked me what kind of dog I have and what his name was. They really showed true interest in the customers. I asked one guy which treats are best friends teething and he immediately gave me several options and let me know why. I asked another girl where the nail clippers were and she led me straight to them. The people who work at this store know their product and truly care about their customers. This is a start difference to the experiences I had at both pet smart and petco. Being a first time puppy owner, I needed serious help, and at both stores they did not have any basic knowledge of animals. I will never go to another pet supply store again. This is the only Pet Food Express location that I've been to that does not provide use of additional shampoo dispensers in the dog washing station area. When charging $18 per token to wash your dog... please be sure to provide enough shampoo. When using the hose set to the soap setting barely any soap came out, it was basically all water coming out. So I went to look for the shampoo dispensers that PFE provides in the wash area and there were none. I've Never experienced this an any other PFE location. When I pointed this out to a staff member and asked for additional soap I was provided with 2 tablespoons of shampoo in a plastic cup. Gee thanks.... I then asked the staff member to direct me to where in the store I can buy a bottle of shampoo as the amount provided would not suffice. I bought a $17 bottle of shampoo and continued the Wash. this staff member knew I was dissatisfied with shampoo amount being provided and let me buy my own instead of offering more. Catch a clue lady. Pretty sure the store manager was also aware as he was present when requested the additional shampoo. Not sure if this location was undertrained on customer service or are mandated by corporate to be cheapasses with managing the amount of shampoo they provide in the dog wash stations. I have adopted two cats from this location via TownCats and I just wanted to say that everyone at this location is so nice and so helpful. Back in September, while waiting for the Town Cats volunteer to arrive, the employees (I don't remember their specific names) were so incredibly helpful. They recommended all the cat necessities since it was my first cat. Today I adopted my second cat, and while waiting, AJ specifically was amazing and showed fantastic customer service!!! I like this location because it has a clinic. I have brought my dogs here for nail clipping, gland expression and vaccinations. They are much cheaper than my normal vet. The lines can be long but not much longer than you would have waiting in a vet office. They always have several people assisting with your pet and since you can stand right there, you feel more comfortable. You can also ask lots of questions as they do the procedure. The only negative is that they don't do medical stuff on the weekends so you need to plan for a weekday or evening visit. Evenings can be busy, naturally, but I still think it is worth the wait, given the price and convenience and quality of care. read more

This is my favorite pet store to come to. I don't know what it is, but the atmosphere is here makes shopping for your pets' needs relaxing. There are always workers greeting me whenever I walk in, and the workers also come around to ask you if you need assistance too. I usually come here to get my fur baby his wipes, treats, toys, dental bones, and frozen food (justfordogs brand). I've also come here for my baby's shots as well.
