Worst experience ever! A family dog was taken there today for a first time bath and nail cutting service. The dog is 8months old and new to that so the owner explained to the workers his situation and asked to be gentle since it was his first time. But the results were horrible! His nails weren't cut, instead two nails were damaged so bad that had blood in them! His ears had cotton pads in them (that I noticed when I was in the car) And they only showers him and not good at all! But not that being enough they charged extra because "he was barking and crying" of course he was afraid after how the hurt him! Worst place! I've been taking my beagle here for years but the new management is horrible. Took him for a regular bath and a trim, but they insisted on giving him a summer trim to avoid shedding. I said I just wanted a trim but they said if he's shedding he should get the summer cut. I came to pick him up they literally shaved off most his hair and nicked him in a couple spots. Then they charged me for a large dog because he was moving too much! WTF! What dogs don't move while being groomed! Definitely the VERY LAST TIME I'm taking my dog here. TL;DR -- I've never had to hold down my dog on the register counter while the groomer cuts her nails. This is highly unprofessional and I don't recommend going here. Longer Post -- We're new to town and were looking for a new place for our dog to get her nails trimmed. We called the place and the person on the phone, I'm assuming owner, said we can come in and she can do it. We arrive and decent looking place and I can see in the back the dogs they are currently grooming. The lady we spoke to on the phone comes up to us and says she can take our dog right now and literally asks us to put her on the register counter. I'm not sure but I've never had to literally hold my dog while her nails were being trimmed. My dog has had bad experiences from her nails being cut too short and does not like her nails trimmed so of course she was crying and what not. It was a bit nerve wrecking to have to hold my dog while she was trembling and crying like that. She was doing great UP until the lady snagged her nail too much and began to bled. The lady said she didn't bleed but the cry from my dog drastically changed when she did snipped too much. Then I found a couple of blood markings on my shirt since it was white and I carried my dog out of their. Highly unprofessional and do not recommend. read more

Also, the owner is super nice and our corgi always comes back looking and smelling so clean. They also don't overdo the fur trim or the nail trim, so our corgi doesn't look weird. We've lived in the neighborhood for close to 20 years. I've taken my dog there to be groomed at least half a dozen times. Granted it's changed ownership a couple times so it's not the same people. I called to inquire about dropping my dog off for a grooming. The lady said they were completely booked until next Friday but I could bring him by today at 2:00 pm. So I said okay.. we will wash him and bring him in damp so he didn't have to sit in the cage for a long time.. ( I totally expected to pay full rate on the grooming because he really needed it) so we show up at 2:00 and she says.. oh .. I don't want to do it because his hair is too long. You let him go too long. Like it's all because of me. Then another lady who works there comes in and touches his fur and backs the gal up .. saying.. " yeah his hairs to long." Ah.. yeah we've been locked down in a pandemic . That's why I'm here. It's the first opening week. Mind you it's a straight shave down all over. No contouring etc. He's got tight curls and his hair is not long. They usually just sheer him down and give him puppy ears. But she turned us away and told us she didn't want to do it. At any rate.. what do you say to that?! She's got all the business she needs she didn't want to do the job. Wasted my time and was rude. So.. I strongly suggest you take your dog elsewhere. I am very disappointed with the groomer in this location. I told them to be sensitive with my dog Cash since he is 13 years old, yet i received him with cuts on his arm pits, belly and one of his ears now has an infection. I did not notice his cuts until we arrived home. His behavior was different. He did not want to move at all. He would stay in one place sitting up for 30 minutes at times until he would nod off and start falling asleep. I would call him but he would not come to me. I proceeded to inspect him and noticed his cuts under his arms. He was in pain and discomfort he did not want to move as a result. It took him a week to finally heal and be his normal JOYful self again. It is unacceptable that your pet should go trough something like this, especially since they can't tell you what has been done to them. Now i know why he is scared of the place when i take him, which now is never going to happen again. I just want to say that everyone at Pet Joy are good people. I've been going there for years and reading some of the bad reviews is sad. I think some of the people there are misunderstood. Spoke with both the groomer and manager over the phone AND in-person when I dropped her off regarding the price for a bath and haircut for my 50 lb Husky. I was told she was a Large dog ($85). An hour later I received a call from another employee that my Husky is considered an X Large dog ($110). My Husky is not an X Large dog. She is much smaller than most Huskies, too. Went here today looking for a good groomer around the area without having to drive so far from my house. I brought my portuguese water dog who was in need of a hair cut already. I called and came in the same day . They called 2 hours later or so to tell me he is ready and usually other places take longer so i was skeptical. When I came to pick him up he looked great! They did everything I asked them too when cutting his hair and gave him a cool bandana up. I was surprised in the results and the timelessness of this place. We had a very difficult job for them grooming our sheepdog who because of covid has not been to a groomer in over 6 months. They did an impeccable job and we are so grateful. I could tell that she was a real compassionate dog lover so I wholeheartedly recommend Pet Joy. I have taken my pomeranian, Whiskey, to several groomers since visiting Pet Joy since we moved away from the mid-Wilshire area but none have been able to give him the same immaculate cut/trim as here. Ishmael is a magician with scissors. He trimmed off the excessive length of Whiskey's coat without compromising it. He shaped the ends neatly and evenly. The lines of my pom's coat were crisp and precise, something that no other groomer has been able to replicate. He took off length but ensured the integrity of the coat. Every time I take Whiskey elsewhere, I dream of the beautiful trim that he received here. In fact, I use the photos from this grooming session as reference for how I want Whiskey to be ideally cut. I hope to be back here again one day after Whiskey grows out the terrible short shave he received at another groomer. I miss their scissor wizardry. read more

I was there a few months ago. Never went back after my puppy had marks all over her. They had the audacity to tell me those fresh cuts and red spots were already there. For a few days my puppy was not herself after I picked her up. Please don't take puppies there, they are so rough on these babies and it's not ok.
