JERSEY CITY: Pet Shop JC is a vegetarian restaurant and bar right in Pedestrian Plaza and they have outdoor seating that is dog friendly! This is a bustling part of town and it was fun to people watch while eating delicious food. The Cubano sandwich was great and made even better with a perfectly made cocktail. There are vegan items available and some options can be made vegan upon request.

Relaxed bar with nice interiors, kind staff, vegan/vegetarian bar food, great cocktails, live music on weekends and chill atmosphere. We went on a Monday Eve and sat the bar. It was not crowded, just few locals chilling at bar and some tables, no table service though- you order at the bar. We ordered cheese curds and had couple of beers. Overall, a nice place to hangout with friends , will definitely come again on weekends to check the vibe.

Chill vibes on nights when there's no live music. Bar service only with plenty of seating in the back. There a pinball machine and a water cooler with cups. Vegetarian food is awesome. We had the best fries we've ever had here :)

Aye oh let's go! Todd-O-Phonic suggested the Pet Shop for our pre part for the screening of "Rock N Roll High School" up the way. What a perfect spot for a group outing. We arrived at 5pm and already we were all stealing stools from other tables. I had a huge crew coming in. I am what is known to people as the "Organizer" of events. I had the ball rolling on who was interested and Todd sent a list of options. Pet Shop is rock n roll, huge and is a vegan spot. (all the options for me) I am pescatarian but love eating some comfort vegan food. Everything on the menu is vegan. The Cubano was tempting and so were the vegan nuggs. But I ended up with the chicken sandwich which comes in three flavors. I decided on the stickiest, BBQ. It came with fries which I feel is more rare these days in NY. They always make you pay extra for fries in NY. My boyfriend got the Cubano. And he ordered for us at the bar. I love Allagash and he went for Labatt. It was nice that everyone could open their own tab at the bar. No Table Service. And therefore we didn't have any issues with splitting a bill. People who already ate could also come by and could get drinks. The music was a variety of rock n roll from punk to metal and everything in between. The crowd was pretty mixed but all seemed friendly. I would highly recommend checking this place out. If we were staying the night in Jersey City we would have made another stop for sure. Also some really fun merch available. The staff really was on it too. So friendly and took care of us. Definitely be returning when we are back in the area for shows!

Loved the atmosphere. And drinks were excellent. The French fries are delicious buts that all I got. They have a photo booth!!!!!! It's cool you don't see a lot of those anymore. The staff was brilliant. And the place was very well kept. Def go here for a bite or a drink you will enjoy and don't forget to snap a photo booth memory.

This place has been on my radar for a while and I finally got a chance to give it a try. This area is usually bad with parking but I was lucky to find parking right away. When I walked in I was greeted and told I could sit anywhere I wanted. When my friend arrived we ordered our drinks. Ariana was our server and she was so nice and attentive. I ordered the Femme Fatale to start and it was pretty decent. My second drink was a grapefruit tequila drink and it was really good. My friend liked his desert rose drink. This spot is vegan so all things are veganized on the menu. For entrées I ordered the bacon jalapeño chicken sandwich and my friend ordered the pulled jackfruit sandwich. The sandwich looked like real chicken and also tasted similar to it with a little spice. My friend really enjoyed his sandwich as well. The bill came to about $80 total which wasn't too bad. All in all I had a good experience.

Great service! The bar was packed all night, but we managed to get our food and drinks fast. The menu is all vegetarian with vegan options. We opted for "shareables" and the sweet & sour cauliflower is awesome. It has just a little bit of heat to it. They had plenty of live music on Thursday night with a great band playing upstairs as well as downstairs. If you're looking to go for the music, id just warn you theres limited seating downstairs so definitely get there early. It will get packed! Overall very fun bar!

Great chill vibe with great food. Order from the bar for food and get it taken to your table. Totally vegetarian menu that could be made vegan upon request. The French fries are absolutely amazing. We had the bbq chicken sandwich and the bacon jalapeño chicken sandwich. Not cheap, but very tasty. There seemed to be board games you can take and play over some beers. I'd go back to try that kind of thing and get more food.

We were honestly surprised by how filling everything was -- so many generous, flavorful courses. The pizza ended up being our favorite dish of the night -- absolutely delicious and such a standout. I had been looking forward to trying Avant Garden for a long time and chose it for a birthday…read moredinner, so this was especially disappointing. We had a 9:30 reservation on May 9. The reservation email said they would hold the table for 15 minutes, and we arrived at about 9:43 after getting stuck in traffic. We were still within that window, but as soon as we checked in, the host immediately told us the kitchen was closing in one minute and that the bar would close in about 20 minutes, so we needed to place our food order right away. It made the meal feel rushed from the moment we arrived. The restaurant was virtually empty, but we were seated directly next to the bathroom. There were clearly plenty of other seating options available, which made that choice even more frustrating. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable bathroom odor from our table, which was really unpleasant and not what I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. Servers were also constantly going back and forth between the dining room and what seemed to be either a storage or cleaning area near the bathroom, so in addition to the odor, there was steady foot traffic throughout the meal. There were also papers or sugar packets underneath the table next to us, which added to the feeling that the dining room was not being carefully maintained. We ordered the paella, fig toast, and Calabrian flatbread. The food itself was fine in terms of flavor, but the rest of the experience made it feel understated and much less enjoyable than it should have been. The paella and toast came out quickly, and then we waited about 45 minutes for the flatbread. During that time, no one checked in, explained the delay, or asked how anything was. We honestly thought the flatbread had been forgotten. Then, after that long wait, the flatbread and dessert were brought out almost at the same time. The server explained that the kitchen was telling them to bring everything out at once. We had also ordered a bottle of Lambrusco, but it was not available, so we were given a different wine instead. Overall, the pacing and service felt very disorganized. We were rushed to order immediately, then largely ignored for the rest of the meal. No one asked how the food was, no one checked on the delay, and the timing of the final dishes made the meal feel chaotic rather than enjoyable. Even though the food was fine, the experience around it really took away from the meal. I also think there is a practical issue with the reservation timing. If the kitchen closes 15 minutes after the last available reservation, it does not make sense to offer a 15-minute grace period. Either the final seating should be earlier, or the kitchen should remain open long enough to properly serve guests who arrive within the stated reservation window. For a restaurant with Avant Garden's reputation and price point, I expected a much more thoughtful and polished experience. I wanted this to be a special birthday dinner, but we left feeling disappointed. I don't feel eager to return, and based on this visit, I would have a hard time recommending it to vegan friends.

Sentir is 100% vegan, and I would confidently bring even my carnivore friends here without hesitation. If nobody told you it was vegan, you'd simply think you were eating some of the most creative, flavorful Mexican food you've ever had. It's that good. From the moment you walk through the doors, you can tell this isn't just another restaurant. The atmosphere is warm, stylish, and inviting without feeling pretentious. Every member of the staff was incredibly kind (thanks Camila who served us both days!), knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to talk about the menu and the other restaurants in the group. Their passion for what they do shines through in every interaction. The food completely exceeded every expectation we had. Every dish was beautifully presented, packed with bold flavors, and unlike anything we've had before. We found ourselves talking about every bite and immediately discussing what we'd come back to try... which ended up being less than 24 hours later. We were so excited by the food on our first visit that we completely forgot to take pictures! (It became a complete afterthought because we had already scarfed everything down. ) Thankfully, we redeemed ourselves on day two! The cocktails also deserve their own standing ovation. They're creative, beautifully crafted, and every bit as memorable as the food. If you're looking for a restaurant where every detail has clearly been thoughtfully considered from the atmosphere and service to the food and drinks, Sentir absolutely delivers. We travel to NYC often and almost never eat at the same restaurant twice because there are so many amazing places to try. The fact that we chose to come back the very next day says everything you need to know. Sentir has officially earned a permanent spot on our "must visit" list every time we're in that part of the city. What We Ate (and absolutely LOVED): Sentir Guac - Easily one of the freshest and most flavorful guacamoles we've ever had. It was served with chips and a deep fried tofu that was reminiscent of a "chicken skin" or something along those lines. I've never tried anything like it and it was good and unique! Carne Asada Tacos - Perfectly seasoned with amazing texture and incredible flavor. Al Pastor Chicken Tacos - Sweet, savory, smoky, and absolutely delicious. Cream of Corn - I wasn't expecting a bowl of corn to stand out the way it did. It was warm, comforting and cheesy. I just wish it came with something to dip with. Unfortunately too much was dripping through the fork and I wanted to savor it all! Chile Rellenos - Beautifully prepared with layers of flavor in every bite. It was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth! Tamal de Carne - Tender, comforting, and packed with incredible flavor. What We Drank: Sentir Michelada - One of the best my husband ever had. The chose Modelo as the beer Little Pitcher - This was a bunch drink. It had grapefruit & orange juice (among other things) but it was shockingly unique and dangerously easy to drink. Café con Ron - The perfect twist or play on an espresso martini but a million times better! Nutty Olivia - I believe this was on "special" and it was a mooth, creative, and another cocktail I'd order again in a heartbeat. It contains gin, which my husband doesn't like but he must have stolen at least 3 sips before I told him to worry about his own drink! Final thought: If a restaurant is good enough to make us skip trying somewhere new in New York City and instead return the very next day, that's about the highest compliment we can give. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or a lifelong meat eater, do yourself a favor go!!! I have a feeling you'll be planning your second visit before you even finish your first.

She also mentioned that she didn't feel heavy after eating the burger, which was nice. Despite us telling the restaurant that we had to go to a musical, service was on the slower side. My friend also had to try several times to get to the bathroom, since someone was always inside. However, the staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. I would only recommend P.S. Kitchen if you have a dietary restriction and want a restaurant that has a relaxed ambiance before your Broadway show.
