I love everyone at this store! Employees remember me and my dog (and my past foster dogs!). Their grooming department is fantastic. My rescue dog has always battled long nails after spending most of his life without proper care. Thanks to the groomers here, we are working on shortening the quick through regular mail trims. They always have the best advice and recommendations and I trust them implicitly with my baby's care! Everyone is knowledgeable and truly cares about their furry (and human) customers. read more

I now understand the low customer service ratings of this company. My husband and I frequent this Pet Supplies Plus because we have never had problem before and the service has been friendly and reliable. Unfortunately, today we were proven wrong. We purchased a couple bags of FROMM food. On one of the bags there was a buy one get one free pate can. When we were checking out, the cashier didn't notice it. So we pointed it after the transaction went through. She said that we WERE discounted the complimentary pate can, but once she looked closer at the receipt realized that she had to manually type in the discount before the transaction completed. She then called over her manager/assistant manager to override the problem. I don't know the name of this "manager", but she should never work in customer service. She scoffed at the fact that we interrupted her shift, was not even listening to the problem at hand and just started ringing up the wrong products, THEN got agitated when we tried to explain the problem in different words. She rudely explained that we needed to show the coupon to the cashier before the item was rung up. We explained that it was on the bag and the coupon directions did NOT state that we had to show the coupon first before purchasing. Again, she rudely remarked that he needed to show the coupon first and that we didn't do that so she wouldn't validate the free pate can. The manager was extremely argumentative with no patience, did not listen to us, treated us with disrespect, and did not give us any kind of solution to our problem. Decent selection of products, attentive employees and free delivery during COVID. I made my order last night and it was at my door by 4:30pm today. They even called this morning to let me know two cans of cat food I purchased were out of stock and that they could replace them with another flavor or refund me. Went there today and filled up my cart as usual with about $100 in cat food and supplies. They did not have any litter boxes that were hooded in stock which was an unpleasant surprise. In any case, the cashier rings up all the items and I give her my phone number for my PSP membership. Then I tried to give her a promo code to apply to my order and they now refuse to take it without a physical coupon which was confirmed by other team members as well. What a joke! Never had this problem before. I told them, you don't need a coupon to do this online as I could have just placed the order that way. They still accept promo codes on online orders! They didn't care. Makes no sense. So I just left all the items at the register and left the store after wasting 30+ minutes. Won't be shopping there anymore, there's other stores. read more

Absolutely phenomenal service! I placed my order online after getting an email coupon. I ordered my dog 4 shirts and some fish tank items. It wasn't a huge order, but a truly great experience. Right after I placed my order, I got a call from a young lady at the store who said that two of the 4 shirts were not available. I told her to pick another two that she thought were cute and make the change to my order. When my order was delivered, I saw the two shirts that were a mystery, and they are super cute! I'm bringing home a new puppy soon and was about to order the boutique food currently being fed by the breeder online when I decided to check locally. Pet Supplies Plus was the only place around that seemed to have it, and they also just happened to be having a 25% off sale! I got the food significantly cheaper than I would have on Chewy/Amazon. When I went to pick it up it included a nice handwritten note saying they hoped my furry friend enjoyed it, which made my day. This is the closest location to my south side home, and as luck would have it in addition to quality food and treats for my dog, the have a self service dog wash. For people that have dogs that are huge, very furry or both, this is a godsend. No longer will a call to rotor-router be necessary after a wash, nor a floor to ceiling cleaning of the bathroom for when the fur flies. What a great concept. My dog would give this place one star, because after all he's not allowed to roam off leash so he can grab pig ears from off the display at will. He is also forced to get a bath in, his first in this type of setup. They have two tub areas on is off the floor higher up for smaller dogs, or for people that get their beast to climb a little set of stairs. My dog doesn't even like to get on a scale at the vet, so when the very helpful staff member pointed out the stairs, I just said I was in no hurry and waited for the other wash tub to become available. Once again my dog being stubborn refused to hop in, so I had to get his front paws in, then he hunker down on the ground with his rear. Well, 2-4-6 Omaha, O-MA-HA, hut, hut, lift and push you're going in, time to lift the back end of 105lbs! He was not happy, thankfully they have neck straps to hold them in. Everything is supplied, shampoo, conditioner, towels and even a drier hose. My dog appreciated the treats they gave him through the traumatic experience, and I appreciated them checking in on me to see if I needed any assistance. Yes, this is a big chain, however every time I've come here, I've been satisfied with the experience. If you sign up for their emails, you get discounts and notified when their dog wash discount card is available, you get 5 washes for 25$. 5$ a pop is a steal, my Grande Latte at SB costs me that. My beast is now laying at my feet fast asleep, tough day for him. read more

Came to this Pet Supplies Plus location for the first time to use the self service dog wash. I'm no stranger to Pet Supplies Plus as I use a location in the North West Suburbs too. First, I must say the place was clean for the most part. Staff friendliness was okay. Secondly, I will NOT be returning to this location again nor will I refer anyone that's looking to use the self service wash. The dryers at this location are God awful slow. The only plus about the dryers is the fact that it blows warm air. For those of you who have long haired dogs know that they don't dry as quickly as short haired dogs. I asked one of the staff members if they could please increase the speed on their dryers. The employee said "no, there was no way for them to do so and most customers use towels." ***Seriously! I completely disagree! Obviously they can control the unit from the inside. I think some Pet Supplies Plus locations have designed it that way because they don't want customers tampering with it or potentially breaking it. I don't know...that's just my assumption! Lastly, I think if you're going to offer a self-service dog wash station to your customers. Make sure it's properly equipped and of good quality. **The dryers would be a start! Install dryers that have good speed and warm air. That can potentially cut down on half the time it takes a customer to dry their dog. read more

In addition, they have everything you could possibly need for small animals, including the animal. This store is very large and spotless. There are plenty of people to wait on you, all of them seemed very knowledgeable and really enjoyed the different animals that come into the store. The manager is very helpful and will order different products if they are not available in the store at the present time. For the most part in comparing the prices they are lower then in many of the other pet stores. Parking is free with a lot connected to the store. The store is organized, the staff is friendly, and they have a wide selection of supplies for my lil guy. They have a bath station which is convenient. One bad experience can really tarnish a persons view of a place. My husband made a quick run to the Wicker Park location making it by the skin of his teeth to pick up a bag of food for our dog. We normally buy from this location but tonight a young man stoped my husband at the door and said they were closed and when my husband explained he just need a bag of food he was told the registers were closed. My husband with his own two eyes observed other customers in the store and ones checking out at the register. He pointed this out and was told his manager instructed him to not allow anyone in, when my husband asked to speak with the manager he said she wasn't there and he was the acting manager... my husband then looked at the time and it just turned 6pm... meaning it was not yet 6pm when he turned him away. So do you close before 6pm or at 6pm? Real question. Granted it's not ideal to make such a close call but 5:55, 5:56, 5:57, 5:58, even 5:59 is not 6:00. Him being allowed to grab his one item wasn't going to make much of difference for anyone's life. Customer service is what sustains a business. Being literally waved off as if you are insignificant and a bother is never the way. read more

I normally go to the other National Pet Store that's slightly closer to me (and very much closer to Target), but I had a coupon and my cats needed wet food. I was greeted when I came in. I was asked if I needed assistance by possibly every staff member in the store, maybe because I came in an hour before closing, or because they like helping people (and pets). I actually had needed assistance from two of them. Their bulk packages of wet food is lacking in the flavor/brand that my cats prefer, but one of the workers gave me an additional coupon for the single packs! I was pretty happy with that. I also saw their 'self-serve doggie wash' and thought it was the cutest thing ever and wish they had something similar for cats. Overall the store is pretty well organized, and parking is easy to find in the lot that they share with Jewel-Osco. read more

This place is ran by immature, disrespectful and extremely incompetent women. I am speaking of the manager and assistant manager. I am a local and have been going here since they opened because of the convenience of the proximity of my home. But what I witnessed the other day, was employees, not just employees but management kick out, talk down to and belittle a group of four teenagers trying to buy stuff for their new pup. I was in the store the entire time that the children were and because the one child laughed the manager had to try to insult and Demean a child! Went there today to help my friend wash her 2 standard poodles. As a retired groomer, I was really disappointed with the self washing area. Water drains into a hole under the tub. Water goes every where. Could not use the nice big tub to wash the dogs but had to use the tub that was ground level. Very hard on the back. Drying with their so called blow dryer was a joke. Very bad air flow and set on a timer. Barely can get dogs dry. There is no table in the room to be able to dry dogs on because dryer in set in the wall. No brushes, nail trimmers, ear cleaner, this is not what I have seen in other self wash centers. No wonder they charge only$10 dollars. Would give them minus stars if I could. read more
