Asked for a puppy cut and got an uneven mess that I have to fix! Won't go back here again!

Dog owners BEWARE!! This place has a self dog wash, and charge 20.00 to use it BUT THEY DON'T WANT US USING IT SO WE GET THE WORST SERVICE!! My first and last time there! They were so happy to take my money but said, it's all self service.. well, where is the shampoo and conditioner? Where are the decent towels? Why is it so gross and dirty over there?? Do you clean up after each dog? I can tell you they don't! Would never go back!!! read more

Please don't take this as a slight... however, I have to go in a little. I'm a transplant from Chicago but have been going to Petco for a few years. This is my first cut from Austin's community and I'm not happy with the result. Let me backtrack because the employees are unbelievably nice. Our groomer was very professional but upon delivery of service, I wasn't happy. My groomer gave me the receipt before I could access to pay for actual live service. Had I known better, I would have asked to see my baby first. When I got him, his face was still a little wet and my groomer said it was bc my dog didn't like the dryer. He doesn't like anything loud, however, wipe his face with a towel or tell me before I take him. I didn't like the way my groomer cut the back of his head and never had that look before. It was very choppy. Otherwise the rest was smooth. I realize that different groomers have different styles being in the cosmetology profession but I should not have been this green. Horrible! do not leave your dogs in the care of Angel. He mutilated my senior sheltie. He shaved her mane down to her skin with no authorization to do so and cut and gauged her. Then he had the nerve to be rude to me when I picked her up. The managers were not much better. I have made a complaint to corporate. We had a good experience with another groomer at the same location, but Angel was unprofessional and butchered My sweet shelties coat. I will never enter another Petco as long as I live. Don't leave your pet in their care. I would leave no stars if that was an option. read more

We showed up at this Petco at 2pm today after our golden retriever, Kimber, had rolled in thousands of stickers/burs and topped it off by cooling off in a mud puddle. I intended on using their self wash to clean her off. After the mud was washed away, I realized the true extent of the stickers and asked the Petco staff for scissors to start cutting them off. They obliged. It only took about 5 mins with the scissors for me to realize I was in over my head. Luckily, Bridgette and John at the Grooming Salon agreed to work her in. John immediately went to work deep conditioning Kimber's coat to loosen the remaining stickers/burs then spent 2 hours brushing out the remaining ones. Afterwards, he and Bridgette evened our her coat to cover up my hack job. I was very impressed with the customer service and proactive helpfulness from every staff member at this Petco. In addition, John and Bridgette did an exceptional job grooming Kimber. She looks fantastic despite being a muddy matted mess 3 hours ago. Lastly, Kimber is an expressive dog. She lets me know if she's had a bad day, and she was nothing but pup smiles when I picked her up despite coming from hours of straight grooming. I would highly recommend the Grooming Salon at this Petco and intend to call them first the next time Kimber has too much fun! read more

Horrible service from the groomers. I have been taking my Weimaraner there since he was a puppy to get bathed, ears cleaned, nail trimmed, and teeth brushed. These dogs are known to be high energy. Nothing new. They know Jupiter and his demeanor. Today I dropped him off for his bi-monthly appointment, within 5 minutes they made me come pick him up. I didn't even get an apology or any empathy. If you can't handle a dog, maybe you shouldn't work for a store specifically for dogs. I will no longer be purchasing anything from Petco. In fact I will go out of my way or pay more to avoid this establishment. read more

I LOVE this Petco, and so does my puppy. The staff are so friendly and nice. They show genuine interest in my puppy and always give him treats. We even had one staff member who recently worked on some basic training skills we him as we shopped for treats. She gave us some pointers on how we were training and offered us a coupon for grooming services. They have the special raw food we like to feed our puppy and they always talk to us about their services in a way that doesn't come off pushy, but just informative. I really appreciate the staff here and it will always be the place I go for all the many things my puppy needs! read more

My Aussie got a really bad hair cut from here. He was shaven down to the skin (completely removing his double coat) without my knowledge at the will of my boyfriend and groomers at Petco despite it not being in good interest for a dog breed with a double coat with summer approaching in Texas. He was unable to show any kind of proof of the dog's shots and he was still able to get an appointment here same day he called. read more

I don't easily give 5 stars, but this store and especially Paige are absolutely 5 star. Every time we go, we are greeted with "Hi Cheerio and Family". That immediately sets the tone that we are welcome AND despite being a "corporate" store, you feel like you have a relationship with the store. The care and advice they give are top notch, and the training classes (we did private x 6) were really educational and got us off to a great start with our puppy. They stand behind the products they sell and know the products well. The sale prices on toys keep us coming back for a new toy every time we stop in - and a couple dollars for a new chew toy is WAY cheaper than our puppy eating things she shouldn't. In closing - top notch people, top notch company, and we are regulars. There's a similar store with "Smart" in the name - if you are smart, just go to Petco at the Y in Oak Hill. read more

I brought my 2 cats to this location for their 'Vetco Vaccination Clinic' and they were amazing. It was super easy to make the appointment online (they're open Tuesday's and Saturday's) and the staff is super patient and helpful. They talked through what my cats needed vaccine wise and made me feel a lot more comfortable. It took no time at all and I felt like my babies were taken care of, I'll definitely be back here for their boosters. The store employees were also super helpful and nice with checkout. Highly recommend, it's a low cost and safe way to take care of your pets vaccines :) read more

I went in the yesterday April 11th and this lady who was working had a really bad attitude. It was around 5:30 and she was in the fish area. We walked in and said "Oh my goodness we were wondering which Petco would sell Ferrets, I've bee looking all over" she rudely looked over and said "Well, we are only selling essentials so just grab what you need and leave". And I looked over at my friend and said maybe we should leave. He said he wanted to get a leash. So we walked over and she said, "Yeah, like I said, just grab the essentials we're not selling ferrets today". To say the least, our trip was meant to be no more than 5-10 mins. I love this store, pet trainers, store attendees but the grooming!!! First time taking my puppy there and the groomer was late, didn't apologize, said it was because I wasn't standing outside the door (which I was for 20 minutes but it was too cold for my pet and I to just stand outside). I asked for a short shave and my pet comes out looking like a street dog with various patches of long hair all for $100. Do NOT take ur dog to this location for grooming, unprofessional, does respect your time, and they don't know whAt their doing. read more

First and foremost, I would like to thank Paige, the store manager, for making my experience worthy of a five star review. My dog has severe allergies in addition to being highly allergic to fleas. We tried Frontline first and it didn't work so we went to Petco to get the Soresto collar. My dog had it on for almost two weeks and began losing his fur all over his stomach and tail. I took the collar off and he was completely bald and his skin was inflamed where it rested on his neck. I went back to Petco to get something new for him and Paige remembered me from when we bought three collars. I wasn't trying to exchange anything but she asked if I had my receipt from the collars and I didn't but she said if I brought the collar back that she would give me store credit. How awesome is that?? Who even does that anymore? Paige does, that's who, and I am beyond appreciative since the collars are not cheap. Also, let me add that they matched prices from Amazon on every single item that was less expensive. Now seriously, who does that??? Petco does and I will never shop anywhere else. I've had my dog groomed here three times and each time has been perfect. When I pick her up from her appointment, she's always in a very good frame of mind and calm so I know that they have handled her well. She's always clean as a whistle and everything is just perfectly done. The prices are competitive and you can customize the grooming needed for your fur baby. I can see they have trained their staff on excellent customer service, not only the groomers, but everybody that works in the store. I don't like to patron corporate places, but I popped in here one day because it was close by and have every reason to keep coming back. read more

Always nice to take my dog into Petco for a quick sniff and to pick up some dog snacks, food or toys. I like there snack buffet that you can use to give your dog a treat while walking in the store. Friendly and helpful staff and on an extra hot day when the ground outside is too hot for their paws it's always nice to just take a drive to Petco and give my dog a walk around the store to get out of the house and get a walk in. read more

I went into this location as I have been going all over the place visiting every location in and out of Austin looking for some odd aquarium and this team blew my mind particularly one individual. I'm the worst at remembering names but we spoke for probably an hour on aquariums and fish. This girl knew her stuff. She took pride in her store. This place was immaculate. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable beyond my expectations and I'm a seasoned aquarist. If I had the money that day those girls could have sold me the entire store. I've never experienced this kind of customer service. I took all her advice I believed she knew what she was talking about. She cared and she was just a pleasant person. Give that team a raise and have them train your future. This was at the oak hill location. I live next to the arboretum location. 30 minutes south. I drive the distance for a experience like that. I made an appointment with Miguel for a bath and groom for my Shih Tzu this past week after having a mobile groomer for the past four years and it was a wonderful experience for me and "OB". He was so thorough and great with him covering the 7 point check and when we left he made some suggestions that we will certainly go with the next groom next month. I was also appreciative of the ability Miguel had to calm a nervous little guy during a grooming that he is usually uncomfortable with.. See you next month!!!! read more

I called to see about having my 2 huskies groomed. We usually get them a summer "buzz" haircut. They have had this cut maybe a dozen or so times. I am a second generation husky owner and did the same with previous pets. We are responsible, loving owners. Their hair has always grown in fine--no problems. we do not leave them outdoors if it is over 80 degrees, which in Austin, is ALOT. So the groomer informs me that the will not do this cut "at this location." Well, you can take your opinion and put it where the sun don't shine. won't be visiting your location and can happily do without your un solicited, rude commentary. You just lost a good customer and I will be vocal. read more

Miguel groomed our old english sheepdog today. Wow, I can really say this was on of the best haircuts of my five year old dog. His caring manner calm our dog down so that he was able to give him a complete groom. The store is brand new. They have a very nice dog wash station for $10 bucks! read more

My pup, Waylon, and I usually end up at the Brodie location since he was in puppy classes with Ken, who is amazing by the way. We came to this location after I failed to plan ahead and get him scheduled for a grooming before his neuter. We were just going to hop in to the $10 self wash, but luckily Tiffany, one of the trainers, was saying hi to Waylon and mentioned they may have an opening. She took us over to Miguel in the grooming dept. who was so kind and thorough. He got us in for a last minute full-service bath/face trim and did an amazing job inspecting Waylon and communicating the services he would receive. When I picked Waylon up, he looked great and smelled like a dream. The staff here are so friendly and you can tell they take pride in their work. read more

I was really impressed by this store and it's personnel. First, I was greeted when I came in, I spoke with the the dog trainer Tiffany who let me watch outside the barrier while she did a private training session with another dog and I was incredibly impressed with her knowledge, competence and ability to work with a difficult dog. When I spoke with her afterwards, she offered me several suggestions in training and equipment which I promptly purchased and have seen immediate positive results with my puppy. I intend to sign up for classes with her. Rob provided very personable and knowledgeable customer service as I was looking for my purchases. I will return to this store based on my interactions with these two individuals. I highly recommend the store and the people. read more

My experience wasn't five star like others. It was Sunday afternoon, about 4:30PM. It was my first time in the store for a self dog wash. I initially went to the register, but while waiting I saw the signage above the grooming area that stated self wash. So I walked over to that area and waited again. When the employee became available, I asked her about doing the self wash. Jo proceeds to tell me I need to go back to the check out counter. I told her the sign above her area said self wash/grooming, and she got short with me and said "well that's just the signage you need to go back to the register". I said okay and then she said " never mind I will ring you up" ( because the cashier had a line still..). Then she proceeds to tell me that I will have to wait to use the self wash because it's been a busy day. There was no one in the area waiting- but I said ok that's fine I will wait the 10 minutes quoted. Then I asked her if the groomers take walk-ins for dog baths. She quickly told me "no we don't and like I said it was busy today and we are about to close" ( not sure what the hours were but I thought the door said 6 and it was currently 4:40....). I told her I wasn't asking for the service, but just for information. After the snippiness, Jo softened and was actually helpful and didn't make me wait 10 minutes to use the wash. She provided tools and towels, and even gave some recommendations on the self wash process. I don't know what happened earlier but I definitely didn't deserve the initial attitude. Thankfully she improved and I was able to go on about my day. read more

I took my pup in here to grab a treat for a road trip and just as we were about to head to the check out, he lifted his leg and made a mark. Another dog walked in the store around the same time and my dog, still being a puppy, got pretty excited and noisy. One of the employees who I had chatted with for a while when we first walked in came over and offered to clean up our mess so we could head to the checkout and I could calm my dog. I didn't catch her name, but her kindness shouldn't go unnoticed! Everyone else I encountered in the store was also incredibly friendly. I wish this was the pet store closest to me. read more

You guys deliberately wasted my time. I called to make an appointment to have my puppy's nails trimmed, and I was told I could just walk in. So I head down to the store and walk in to the grooming check-in counter. After waiting a few minutes for the customer in front of me to check in, a lady asked me if I had proof of rabies vaccination on me. I said no. So she asked me to go home and take a picture of it. I told her I don't think I have it, but that I would email my vet to request a copy. Then she mumbled something with an attitude and walked away. So I left and won't be coming back. read more

Booked an appointment for Christmas Eve for my Husky to get groomed. Wanted To try this this Petco location since it's a quick 5 minute drive from my house. I usually take my boy to Petsmart. After waiting to check my dog in, a pair of rambunctious barking dogs came in who's owners couldn't control them. This made my pup very nervous as I had brought my one year old with us. The dogs were standing behind us in line with their owners restraining them. Finally the lady took all our info and wanted to a 7 point check on Koty. Whatever that is and took him behind the counter. He jumped on the door which is only like 3ft high trying to get back to me. He wanted to protect us. And the groomer began pulling on his leash to control him and he tried to snap at her. Not sinking his teeth in her. She said he didn't bite her but was just warning her. This made the groomer question Kotys aggression. They turned us away and said "oh maybe next time". This really ruined my day and experience at Petco. My dog was just doing his job trying to stay with his family to protect us from the 2 large dogs behind us. We went to petsmart right after! My pup is not aggressive and we use Wag all the time and have had no issues as well as Petsmart grooming! Will be sticking with Petsmart! Thanks anyways! read more
