This review is for the grooming salon not the store. Today's experience was laughably bad. We had an appointment and after waiting for over half an hour for our groomer to show up (without an apology) we were told that my dog couldn't be groomed because he was on thyroid medication. This confused me because he has always been on that medication. They have had his records for years and never asked about it and now suddenly they decide to enforce this unknown policy after keeping us waiting for so long? Maybe something to start asking upfront? It's for the best, I would much rather support my local neighborhood groomer and am sorry I strayed in desperation. Lesson learned. read more

I only come here to pick up my online orders and this place sucks to visit every time. They never have enough staff in the front to charge out the lines quickly. They just let the phone stay on hold forever as the announcer continues to announce over the speakers. They also take forever to pull online orders that are in stock. This particular branch is such a disppointment. First time I went there 3 weeks ago, to buy some fish, since they have a lot more in stock than my local mini petco. The guy wouldn't help saying that they need a water sample first of my tank before selling me fish and started lecturing me about pets like I was a 5 year old. Without even asking about parameters or any info, he ended up giving me what I wanted when I explained that this was my first time ever to hear about this condition for buying fish. A week later I went there at 6 pm on a friday, the store was closed with a piece of paper on the door saying that they were closed for the day and will reopen the next day. I went there again last week, when it clearly online said that they have extended holiday hours. Guess what? They were closed with a paper on the door saying their hours are 11am-5:30pm M-S which is too much of an inconvenience. I honestly don't know what's wrong with them!!! read more

I'm done buying fish here. It seems like they're just not healthy and far too many die. Then, even though they have a 30-day return policy, they always make a big deal out of the return. I wrote to corporate the last time I had a problem like this, there was no response....they clearly don't care. Today, we took one of our latest 3 goldfish back. We walked back to the fish department and while waiting for the employee, we started looking at the tank for a replacement fish. But lo and behold nearly the entire tank of goldfish was dead. They have some nerve bickering with me over 1 goldfish when nearly all of theirs was dead. Further, he told me I had to bring a sample of water separate from the dead fish. But it doesn't say that anywhere on the receipt and it doesn't say that in their return policy online. He then points to a sign on the wall and I tell him that we don't have that sign at our house...it does no good to post it in the store if people can't see it before returning a dead fish. Then when I looked closer, even that sign doesn't say that you have to bring a water sample separate from the dead fish. Cannot say ENOUGH good things about this PetCo!! Specifically, JP and Claris in Aquatics! I'm a baby beginner to freshwater aquariums and the (sometimes frustrating) learning curve that comes with that territory. I've had some successes, some casualties () but altogether, a BEAUTIFUL habitat for my fish friends! And I couldn't have done ANY of it without JP and his expertise! He's exchanged fish for me to find the right fit, he's given me great advice on water parameter upkeep and has been extremely sympathetic and patient when I've inevitably brought in my fish who sadly didn't make it. Everyone, I mean EVERYONE, from the cashiers to management to aquatics... have been the sweetest most accommodating people I've encountered in customer service. First time at this store, early Saturday evening. Unable to find the items from 2 different brands (usually stocked at other branches ive been to), i asked the young girl, buzy un-packing boxes, who directed but already knew they were out of that brand. After pucjung up the 1 item/brand they did have, proceeded to cash register/cue. 2people serving & 4people in line. 10mins later several more people & 1less cashier(?) the multi-colored haired cashier had a young man standing nearby, but he didn't seem to know where he was supposed to be (?) 10-15 people in cue later, some young girl hogging 1 cashier's attention, w/no condideration for the growing cue behind her, made me ask out loud, "Is there no other cashier available?" Few mins later, 2 appeared out of nowhere (1 was the young girl stacking shelves), & finally the young man was asked to 'open a cash register'. Conclusion: Get a new Manager at this branch & 'Train' the staff to serve the paying customers quickly, trying to get items for waiting/hungry pets, on their way home! read more

2019.03-24/1655: Our favorite location in the valley! Everyone in this store is extremely nice and knowledgeable. We were there to pick up some dog food and treats. The customer service here is amazing. Everyone is so wonderfully nice! We had some register issues because it froze and Angie (I'm hoping this is her name!) was so awesome to conversate with while we waited. I accidentally threw out my receipt but I think her name is Angie(she's a new employee and I accidentally threw away the receipt; I have time-stamped this draft and that's exactly when we visited. We were her last customers), who was fantastic! She had a wonderful attitude and smile. Unfortunately the register froze and had issues. She had to call Chris who helped fix the issue. While we waited, they were both a pleasure to deal with! They made it a pleasure to shop there so please commend them for displaying an excellent demeanor and hospitality! Oof - where does one even begin. First off - came in Wednesday around 12:30 - Kathy was a nightmare. Extremely rude, dismissive, & no help. Called for crickets which they said they had a lot of. Came in and she snapped at my friend and I saying we can only have 20 of them. Meanwhile she comes back with 40 in a bag and extremely not happy about it. Came back in today and all the employees are just dumb dumbs & rude. Sitting on their crickets like it's gold. If I come in expecting a certain amount of crickets AND YOU CONFIRM OVER THE PHONE THAT YOU HAVE THAT AMOUNT; I expect to get that amount. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!!! Christian the grooming stylist totally butchered my 6 month old Goldendoodle today. I gave him specifics on what I wanted for my puppy, which was a "LIGHT" trim around her eyes that's it! I even showed him pictures! This man cut most of her hair off and now she looks a total mess! DONT EVER LEAVE THE STORE WITHOUT CHECKING YOUR RECEIPT. This store is notorious for overcharging for food. most people don't ask for the receipt and don't bother checking to see if the order was rang up improperly. I got charged $35 yesterday for 2 ($9 and $12) bags of dried rat and hamster food and they try to stand there and argue with me about it for 5 minutes telling me that was the price of the bag. This has happened to me so many times at this particular store I've lost count. Store policies are not nice and they handicap the groomers. They banned our tiny Chihuahua because they were afraid he would bite them! They lost our vaccine records for 4 dogs. Phone appointments are ignored. You can't book an appointment on line unless you want a full service combo. Service packages are limited to high price combos, not individual services like nail clipping. They can't trim just the dog's face. They want to shave off your long-haired dog coat, instead of scissors trimming to preserve the dog's looks. Other groomers listen to what you need! Plus they are cheaper, better, & nicer, with 5 star ratings. read more

Excellent! First time at a vet - new cat owner. Heather, Clarisa, and the tech whose name starts with a "J" (sorry) were exceptional. So kind and patient and made the experience comfortable for me and my cat. I got a guinea pig from this location and two days later I noticed it had a giant tumor and I just went into the store to talk to the "animal leader" I got attitude even though I was flustered because my guinea pig that I just bought who has a baby is dying. They refused to help him and I will listen to my mom by Not going to Petco ever again. She was so rude to me for no reason while I had my guinea pig not breathing in the car because I didn't have a paper receipt but I had everything else including the emailed one. Petco groomers in Burbank are a nightmare. I took my dog in for a nail trim and they wouldn't service my dog because of a message on their system saying y dog had a neck problem. My dog has no problem. They claimed they had a document from the vet and the name of the disease my dog had which was not true. My dog is perfectly healthy and Petco will no longer service my dog because of this supposed condition he has. I spoke to the manager and she was very rude and took Liz, the groomers side. Liz is a liar and a terrible person. She was so rude to us and I will never step back inside of a petco again! I don't care if I have to drive 6 miles to pet smart. Came in today with my dog after taking her to the vet to get updated on all her shots inquiring about getting her groomed up. Spent about an hour there talking with groomers and shopping and walking Dixie around. Found a lot more tha. What i originally came in for and they had some great deals happening. It's been awhile since i was there as they completely renovated the store. Then it was time to check her in to the groomers. I wanted to get her hair trimmed. But considering she's an Australian Shepherd with a double coat i was talked out of it. For now. They gave me several different options and prices. Told me since we were walk ins that it would be approx 4 hours. My dog is terrified of water for some reasons. Baths. Sprinklers. Which is funny because when she was smaller she had her own plastic pool that she loved. ‍ I warned the groomers as well. And they don't offer any sort of sedation or will not take a dog who has been sedated which is fine by me. I don't give my dog stuff like that anyway. So a few hours passed and i get a phone call. Not exactly the phone call you want to hear. Seems i was prepared for the worst by the manager and i headed straight to Petco to pick up my dog. I think it's safe to say there's a possibility for something to go wrong when you are dealing with groomers and dogs. And every knows that or should know that are risks that can occur. So the manager Will called me up and explained that Dixie's ear has been cut. Not a big deal wasn't bad but he wanted to meet me at the Vet next door. I was freaked out, I'm not gonna lie. He was so kind and genuine when i met him there. We met with the Vet to go over treatment options. Yes. She suffered a small cut. Not enough to get stitches. In fact she had healed up by the time I got there that was was barely a need to do anything but to be safe we opted to put a little glue just so on our many walks it won't reopen or get infected. There was no need for antibiotics. Will stayed the whole time with us and is going to be there for our follow up appointment in a few days just to make sure everything is ok. I'm not writing this post to say anything negative about my experience with Petco, the groomers or the management. I'm writing this post to commend what a fantastic job and effort that Will put in, making sure we were all ok and his concerns. He / they took care of everything and made sure that Dixie was ok and she was / is. Happy as can be and super clean and groomed nicely and smells so good! I will go back again. Probably more so now than ever. And i do recommend the groomers. I know i would not have gotten this attention from a smaller mom and pop company. So thank you Will for the excellent customer service. And thank you for everything that you did for us. I hope you get recognized for being so awesome at your job! And just so everyone knows. Today was my first visit to this Petco with my furbabies to the Vetco Clinic they have scheduled on Saturday from 4p.m.-6p.m. and it was a delight. We went to have two of my furbabies get the K9 flu vaccine and the other to have its other canine 5-1 vaccines, healthy puppy done and microchipped. The veterinarian Dr.Velo and his assistant were very friendly and patient when administering the vaccines. I would definitely recommend using Vetco Clinic. Check their website for hours and location of operations found on the Petco website. This is a great service that Petco for offers. It's convenient and allows me to keep my babies healthy. I'm sorry, this is not how someone should handle a customer in their store. I noticed her getting mouthy to another customer while we were checking out. A customer was asking her a question and after conversing for a second she said, "ya, I just told you that." What is this lady's deal?! We didn't even bother getting anything in addition to the cat food we already had. We were asking about a $140 collar, and decided to go somewhere else that would happily answer our questions. Horrible service I had to book my appointment 2 weeks in advance, then I get a call the morning of my appointment saying that they had to cancel because the groomer called off so they scheduled me the following week with a 30% discount, so now we are at 3 weeks of waiting for my dog to get groomed. Finally the day of I am the first person there I drop my dog off two hours later I go to pick him up and I get the opposite of what i asked for my dogs back was practically bald and he had random patches of long hair left all over his body then i go to pay and the cashier tries to argue with me about the 30% that was clearly stated on paper i got from the groomer. the male veterinarian didn't really examine my dog properly, he said she needed x-rays to find out the problem. he laugh a couple of times while I was trying to explain how I thought my dog got injured. In a few words he said that the problem was probably arthritis as my dog is a senior dog. I took her to a different clinic in which they found out she strained her iliopsoas muscle right away. When the I entered the store the groomer gave me attitude and said, "We can't take you if you're 15 min late. I marked you as no show the moment you walked in." (Wow). I mentioned I called and she again rudely asked who I spoke to and then went in the back room "to check." She came back and reluctantly said ok and asked if he's had a haircut before. Now that I don't work near there and have the lovely Studio City option just a few blocks from home, I don't see how I ever tolerated this retail chain of torture. They claimed to have no records of her ever getting vaccinations done the past year or so even though we have. This already proved that they were disorganized, and then they refused this simple service because they had no records on file of these vaccinations. We spent 30 mins arguing about this, only to find out that in order for the nail trim to be done, our dog needed a full health exam first which would bring us to more than $50. By the way, the grooming was being done by several young girls who looked to be only in high school. Definitely didn't look vet tech trained. Went over to Dr. Sharp in North Hollywood instead, and received excellent service by their staff. read more

The thing I really love about Petco is that they always have plenty of cashiers....oh wait that is not this place....this place sucks on that one. One of the things that really piss me off is when I go in to buy food for my dog and have to wait in one line because they are too cheap to hire enough help. Then to top it off the cashier also answers the calls that come into the store. So you(me in this case) take the time to drive over there, get out, go in the store, find what you want, wait in the long line and then have to be delayed because some lazy jerk wants to know if they have something in stock.
