The only reason I'm leaving two stars is because I don't fully understand what happened. I placed an order for curbside pick up, and about an hour later my order was canceled. I called petco to which they told me they didn't have it in stock. In disbelief, my boyfriend and I went physically into the store and what we ordered was just sitting there on the shelf, fully stocked. We asked to talk to the manager, which he told us he was sorry for the inconvenience and offered us a discount. Once we went to the register, the manager was nowhere to be found. The cashier was hesitant to give us the discount even after I had shown the canceled order. There was a big miscommunication between workers and it was very inconvenient. I'm really upset because I have recently stopped doing curbside pick up for this exact reason- even though it is the safest option right now. As a customer I feel that my issue was overlooked as not important and I was hoping even if that manager was busy, another manager would be able to help. It seemed that there was no other manager even available at that time. I truly hope this location improves upon its customer service because in the past it has been a great store. read more

The only reason I torture myself by going in there is because sometimes I can't wait for my cat litter to be delivered from CHEWY'S...so I unfortunately have to go into that dump of a store to get the litter..9 times out of 10 they don't EVER EVER have it! I've been to a Zoo with a smaller selection of animals than this Petco. The only thing they're missing area dogs and cats unless it's a designated adoption day. My kids love going here! It takes forever to get out though because they want to look at every animal and critter. The staff is fairly knowledgeable especially for a big chain like this. I wanted grooming scissors and ear cleanse for my dog. I saw that they had curbside pickup for both items I wanted so I just went to the location assuming that they had the items available. When I got there, I didn't see either items on the shelves. I went to the cashier to inquire about the items. Her answer, sometimes the website is wrong. I asked, so you can't help me find the items? No, we don't have it. I also wanted to check on grooming prices but couldn't because there was only one person in grooming and he was working on a dog and therefore, not answering the phone nor helping anyone waiting at the counter. BEWARE!!!! DO NOT take your dog here for grooming ever!!!!! Wow!!!! Unbelievable! I should've known when it took them half an hour and still they didn't know how I wanted them to cut my dog's hair!!! They literally just ended up buzzing my dog's hair but managed to scam me into all these extra charges like facial $5, dematting $7 (they left a huge matting in my dog's ear that I found when I got home that needed to be cut), conditioner $8, etc. Her tear drops were still there after "facial" which they said cleans it out then at pick up they change it and say you have to do it each time for it to work!?? Oh and let's not forget that there was a large flea on her, too! So, she had 0 fleas when she went but came back with flea that went unnoticed, too, by them, since they had advised me that if we see fleas we'll be applying a flea medication on her and charge you for it. Unbelievable, right??? Groomer name: Melissa! Obnoxious and clueless attitude. She was groomed once before and charged only $60 and they did the same exact thing and a way better job with her face- no tear drops; all cleaned up! Here she was charged $84. They were also rude, unprofessional, uncaring, and incompassionate. Additionally, they have you sign your dog's life away with all kinds of ridiculous consents like we'll have to take your dog to the hospital if accidental things happen like severe bleeding! What!??? Finally, my dog has been napping ever since the grooming with severe non-stop diarrhea which she's never had before (all night)!!!!! Suggestion: FIRE your staff and replace them with decent, caring, loving, and compassionate people!!!!! Will never be back or recommend to anyone!!! It's been days after and my dog still won't stop trembling. Who knows what was done to her. This did not happen with her previous groomer which was elsewhere. She was so happy and did not shake once when brought home nor did any of the other things mentioned above occur! Omg, I was just brushing my dog's ears and found another mat under her other ear that this groomer missed again! You would think that after I took her back the first time she missed the matting in one ear that she would've checked to make sure no more mattings anywhere but of course she did not bother!!! Just spoke to their store manager lady and instead of apologizing for her employee's behavior and the fact that they don't clean their kennels since my dog had non-stop diarrhea for 24 hours following her grooming service with them, starts arguing with me and telling me everything is my fault lol! The diarrhea is too since I failed to call them right away as well as the matting because "I should be brushing my dog's hair every 15 minutes." These were the "manager's" exact words; can't make this up folks. DO NOT take your dog here or go here for anything. Dirty, disgusting place with dirty, disgusting, and rude employees and staff. I brought my dog to the Grooming counter here to get her nails clipped. I'm standing there and can see the groomers through the window, there's a male groomer and he's in there with no mask on... I'm thinking... okay.... and I mentioned to the grooming receptionist that maybe he could put his mask on. She said nothing and ignored me. Then I saw the groomer put his hands in his mouth, to bite his nails I think, and he continued doing his thing and picked up a dog to start working on him. Then he slid his mask up but still not covering his nose. I said to the woman at the counter, "maybe he could wash his hands cause he put them in his mouth".... again silence. I said to her... "I mean, I really don't want my dog picking up Covid." She began telling me that dogs can't get Covid....Then she even told me there's a dog vaccine (we know there isn't) i ignored all of it. I told her that I just wanted him to wash his hands before touching my dog. She huffed and puffed and walked into the grooming room to talk to him. I watched her standing there taking to him, My guess is she was just complaining about me, because she came back out and he still had not washed his hands or moved his mask up onto his face, he just kept on grooming. I told her that I wasn't feeling very comfortable with this and she pointed to a bottle of hand sanitizer and told me I could sanitize my hands after He was done with her nails. I told her again, "i just want him to wash his hands".... And then, the kicker, she said "well, we can refuse service if that makes you feel better"....... I grabbed the woman's name, Linda, walked out, picked up my phone and called corporate right there in the parking lot. The operator couldn't believe what I was telling her. I couldn't believe that I even had this happen at all. this was terrifying. Part of me actually thought in my head, it will be fine, it's just a nail trim, I don't wanna have to go to another place and deal with this... and then I thought.... no. I'm outta here. Absolutely not. Not everywhere has problems. Not every petco is bad. But what I just dealt with should never happen. And I sure as heck should never be told about an imaginary dog vaccine.... read more

This review is in regards to the adoptions that occur at this location through Muttshack Pet Adoptions. BE CAREFUL! It's interesting that they always have desired breeds of puppies for adoption. They pride themselves with working with low income communities, but I'm not sure how legitimate this adoption agency is. I got a two month old puppy from them recently who was supposedly dewormed. However, after taking her to two different vets (the first vet was awful, but the adoption agency has a contract with a particular clinic they want you to use after getting your puppy), we found she had multiple parasites: tapeworms and roundworms. They had been in her system for weeks, which means she had it before we picked her up from the agency. Also, don't take your puppy to the vet they recommend even if the free first visit is alluring. I understand the purpose of the adoption agency and I commend them in their efforts to get puppies forever homes. Just make sure you do your research and ask a ton of questions on the day you adopt your puppy. read more

Have been taking my dogs to Petco Grooming in Burbank for 20 years. Recently, they blocked by account and told me that 2 out of my 3 dogs cannot be serviced there, because I had complained in the past. I have never complained, once I asked if they can dry my puppy before I take him, since he was still wet and another time I had asked if they can trim a little more around the eyes. I have been in contact with Headquarters on multiple occasions, but to no avail. It appears PETCO Customer service does not exist and they don't care at all about their customers! Christian the grooming stylist did a horrible job on my doodles haircut. I specifically said to cut the body hair only. And he ruined her tail, and ears. Also didn't do a good job on the body hair. Had a very strange experience with someone who I think was a manager at this location. I've been buying Hills K/D at this Petco for about 7 months now, usually going in every other week. Then today the lady ringing me up said my Vetco prescription was no good because it said "Hills Renal Diet" instead of Hills K/D. I don't know why my vet decided to write renal instead of K/D, and Vetco just copied what my vet wrote, but I guess my vet was assuming any retailer who sells Hills would know K/D is their renal food. In the end, the lady agreed to sell me a few cans but said I would need to get a new prescription that says K/D before I could buy any more. 7 months and no one ever mentioned it. I think I finally have a good reason to just buy from Chewy.com. I certainly won't miss seeing all the sad animals in cages at Petco. read more

I went here yesterday and had an awful experience. I could not find a product I had bought here previously (on line it also said it was in stock), so I searched every aisle looking for an employee to no avail. I needed a few other items and figured when I went to purchase them I could ask the cashier where I might find the item I had been looking for. When I went up to the cashier I asked him if he knew where I could find the item. He replied with, "do you have a Petco Pals Reward #?" I asked once again about the product. He then said he was working the register and could not help me. He said again "do you have a Petco Pals Reward #? I said I do but would like to know how I would find this product and he said, "what is the number?' I figured my efforts were futile in finding this product and gave him my number. I did once again ask about the product and he told me to find someone on the floor. I told him I had tried that but could not find anyone, and he said" well, that's too bad" He rang up my purchase and called for next in line. This was so rude! Therefore, I will not be going back to Petco in the future. I will instead shop at Pet Smart in person (even though it is further away from me) and on line at Amazon, Chewy and Pet Smart but never again at Petco. read more

This place is the worst.  They barely have any medication in stock.  The worst is the grooming department.  They cherry pick and will reschedule you as much as they want.  I had an appointment for my dog to be groomed and yet when i got there they said we had rescheduled him for next week.   Come next week, 40 minutes before my appointment, they rescheduled me again for later that day at 2pm.  Between 11am and 2pm they rescheduled me again for the next day.  Screw them.  Take my money somewhere elsewhere.. read more

Yes, the facility is clean and up-to-date with stocked items, but noticing the animals in the little environment they have to stay, breaks my heart. I'm a pet lover and I believe that they should improve the space they use for having animals adopted or kept for sale. Overall, doing my own shopping... they do have the items I need and are speedy with the cash register. I have encountered good low priced and high quality brand items. Using my Free PETCO membership card, I do get discounts sent to my house... informing me of the promotions they have and the money I could be saving with the coupons they provide me. This is one of the nicest, cleanest, Pet Co stores I've ever been to. They have a large selection of all the usual pet food and dog beds and toys. They also sell parakeets. The sales people all seem very friendly and helpful. This Pet Co gets a four star review for the cleanliness and attractiveness of the store, attentive staff and variety of product available for purchase. It gets FIVE STARS for the pet adoptions hosted by Mutt Shack every weekend. Mutt Shack focuses on small dogs. They have a small room filled with baby cribs so you can see the dogs, pick them up, and interact with them. I get all chocked up when dogs are saved from euthanasia and given new homes, so I think this Pet Co should get some love for helping out the doggies, don't you? read more

I went in here today to get supplies and necessities for the new puppy that I'm getting. Most of the items I had no problem locating, but I needed pee pads for my new pup. I asked one of the employees which was the best quality pee pads that they sold. I didn't want to pay for the crappy kind. She navigated me to the ones that are Petco brand and another off brand that compared in similarity. I wish I could remember her name, but she was really friendly and complimented me on my Breaking Bad T-Shirt I had. The store is very spacious and clean. The employees I had interaction with were all friendly and willing to help out. I used my Petco loyalty card which helped me save some money when I checked out. Another thing I liked was that there was plenty of parking out front. If it's one thing I hate, it's having to park far. Review for Petco Burbank Grooming. Worst experience ever. My grooming appointment was canceled twice, to begin with. Morning of the appointment was told the groomer called out again but the groomer that was there - Hazel - said she could take my mom's dog but wait time would be 2.5 to maybe even 4 hours. Showed pictures of what my mom wanted and as we left, my mom was upset because her and her dog are very attached and the groomer noticed how upset my mother was. When we went to pick her up, Angel did not look anything like what my mom wanted. Haircut is uneven, her ears are uneven, looks like she wasn't even bathed properly as it looks like she still has food around her mouth and dirt around her paws. Hazel explained that Angel was apparently very difficult to work with and was going to refer her out of every Petco location which seems unreasonable since we now have doubts as to how Angel was treated. We have taken her to another Petco location and she has been groomed by other groomers and not once did we ever receive any complaints regarding her behavior and she was always groomed the way my mom asked. Please avoid this location and groomer if you can - this experience definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. No idea how to comfort owners or approach owners or even communicate appropriately. Dear Petco Corporate, We have taken our dog to puppy playtime religiously for months and it has been a wonderful experience for her. The dog trainer here Eddie is awesome and most of the dog owners are very attentive. Eddie fosters a real sense of community. Also as a result of spending so much time at the store my wife and I have spent hundreds of dollars on classes, treats and supplies for our pup. It was disappointing to learn of the new puppy playtime rules that go into effect this week. We will no longer be able to take our 7 month old puppy to the class and will consequently be spending less time and $ at this store. If something is working why change it? I'm very disappointed from the service I bought the product 10 gallon fishtanks on April 11 2020 when there was no regulation of no return policy products were defective I try to return them back on April 18 2020 the response to me was we don't except returns when I wasn't informed at the time of purchases. General manager told me that we came up with no return policy on April 10 of 2020 but when I called the corporate office they told me the policy was active from 15th of April Their excuse was COVID-19 but it still don't make sense because Manager told me they can replace the defective product but no return or I can leave the product with them which I did and wait till they let me know when they can return my money Can someone explain me how is this legit ? Petco should investigate where Muttshack gets all their puppies. My story: Be careful, and do not trust this animal "rescue". We adopted a beautiful 3 months puppy and sadly he passed a month after. We contacted the team at Muttshack when we found out our puppy was sick to get some more specific information for the veterinary and was never able to speak with them or received an email back from a member of the team. After the fact, I have seen several comments from other people advising about not adopting from them.
