DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE FOR GROOMING A few years ago, I used to get my dog groomed here, and they did a decent job. Today I took him and I was told it would take a while. Okay, I understand, it'd been a while for grooming for him, and he has a double coat of very thick hair. I was told they were short-staffed and that there would only be one groomer there to work on him, so it would take several hours. About 15-20 minutes in, I was called to come pick him up. The girl stated he wouldn't stand on the table for her. He's a 135 pound, 10 year old dog. She said he was choking himself and his tongue was turning purple. WHAT??? So I raced back there to pick him up, and she had shaved his back legs and his stomach TO THE SKIN. This is a double coated dog. You don't shave them to the skin, you shave them to about 1/2 inch or so. He looks so pathetic. I was too livid to speak to the manager at that time. I could not believe when I got home and saw the damage. I should have known when I first got there and Carla asked me to bring him back tomorrow morning (when I assume she wouldn't be working). I said no because I have other things set for tomorrow and it's an ordeal to get him in and out of the SUV. Never again. Carla just didn't want to deal with it. This is a very gentle dog, he does not fuss, and I've never had a groomer not be able to handle him before. I've never had one start the job and refuse to finish it. She just didn't want to do it. Period. UPDATE: Talked to the current manager who wasn't there this afternoon, and she is going to investigate. I told her I have pictures, if I can get an email to send them. Pup is crying a little tonight, which is unusual, like he's hurting somewhere. UPDATE 2: Well, the manager did call back, and told me she'd watched the videos and I'd agreed for him to be shaved if there were mats. I said, yes, I sure did, but I expect a qualified groomer to know that with a double-coated, long haired dog, shave means 1 inch from the skin, not down to the skin. That is what shaving should have been done. They didn't offer to fix it, didn't offer a discount to go to another Petco to get it fixed, and when she said that my phone number and the dog weren't in their system, was that the Petco I'd been to before, it felt like she was calling me a liar. I told her so. So she told me that there is a mobile grooming service at some Petcos, and gave me a number to call. That place was in Denton and doesn't service this area, of course. So they gave me the number of the Petco on 380 in McKinney to see if their mobile service could help. Ashley was very nice, and she will be here on Saturday to try to correct this issue as much as she can. So update 3 coming soon. At least Ashley sounds very competent and seems to know how to work with large, older dogs. UPDATE 3: No luck from the mobile van either. I can't figure this out. This dog has never had anyone have problems giving him a haircut before, so is it just Petco? We'll be going back to our regular groomers in November with a regularly scheduled appointment since they're now so busy. Will not be darkening Petco's door again. Petsmart will be getting all our business from now on. I'll drive farther and pass our local Petco for our food, etc. Very unsatisfactory experience all the way around. But just to let them know, you do not cut a double coated dog's fur less than 1 inch long. It affects their ability to regulate their temperature. I'm going to Amazon now to buy some clippers and will trim him up so he at least looks decent myself since the others don't seem to be capable.

This is what happens when you take your pet to this location.

I'm new to the area and i decided to have my doodle groomed by Preston. Once i dropped Him off he wasn't there for the initial consultation so i had to discuss what i wanted with someone else hoping she would relay the messages. I scheduled his appointment at 10am not thinking it would take over 3-4 hours. It never took more than 2 hours to have him groomed. I called at 12:30 to check the status and they said another hour and a half. I had to be at work by 2 so that wasn't going to work. Once i called back to see if it was any way to have him done sooner i was put on hold to speak with his upmost ignorant groomer Preston. He was beyond sarcastic i could hear the attitude in his tone when i expressed my concerns regarding time. He said i can come pick him up now. I asked if he was done and he replied "NOPE" As far as customer service i see why he only works with dogs. I was extremely upset once i arrived his hair was taken way too short which is not what i asked for and turn he Preston cut my dog with the clippers. He has a few good gashes which by the way has never happened!! He needs major coaching and another training on grooming this is completely unacceptable.

I hope that this review helps another dog owner. I had a more than bad experience at the Vetco in Frisco. I brought my dog in to be treated due to a scab that had developed on her ear. The vet techs were very nice and took her to the back room for the vet to exam her ear. I repeat, exam her ear! At that point, I had never met the vet. When the actual vet brought my sweet dog back to me, he explained that he had cut the top of her ear. He also explained that we really don't need that part of the ear and that she would now be without the top part of her ear forever. He offered a pain medicine for any discomfort. I am furious right now!!! How does a doctor cut on a dog without the permission of the owner and bring the dog back to the owner as if this procedure was authorized? I never authorized this or any other procedure. My dog was there for an examination only. How do you go from an examination to being cut on without the owner knowing? I have so much more to add, but I'll stop here. OMG! This vet has to be crazy to do something like this to an animal or a pet family. PLEASE avoid this location!!!

I dropped the class in September 2025 & began working weekly with Shawn. Shawn was unfamiliar with the sport BUT she's worked with Shelties & knows the gentleness of my breed. Her method of fear free training & positive reinforcement was exactly what I needed. She provided effective training solutions based on my individual needs to build my confidence. Attended my 1st flyball tournament in March 2026 & was amazing!!! I completed the pattern multiple times with a box loader, spectators, & running against a dog in the other lane. The best part is that I'm not afraid of the game but truly enjoy it now. So many people congratulated Mommy on my improvement. My improvement & joy of the sport is all due to working with Shawn & her dog, Ollie. We're so grateful to Shawn for her dedication & commitment to help her clients put their best paw forward. Shawn is truly an amazing trainer & wonderful to work with. We love her!!!! Monte Galvan

We sent our dog JULY  for their four weeks program and had a wonderful experience with the dog training program. When I attended the initial consultation, I was amazed by how large, clean, and over-the-top the facility was. The talk lasted 30 minutes, and we spoke for almost one 1hour. They were patient, and we explained all our goals, which we wanted our July to be trained on. Tyler worked with July. We received daily "Pupdates" and report cards that included videos, photos, and an overall update on his improvement. I could tell Tyler cared about July as if he was his doggie. We are so proud and thrilled about the progress July has made. TRULY AMAZING! July's confidence built up, and his personality came through by the end of the 4-week board and train program. Our daily routines involved, what we called, "the prisoner exchange," moving one dog inside and the other outside repeatedly so they did not fight. We believed in Leo and William and knew that they could make each other's lives so much richer with the right support and knowledge. When I called Karma for training options, I was told they had the perfect trainer for our situation and that the trainer could come live with us for ten days. Enter - Kai Whitmore - the man, the myth, the legend. I was very hopeful, but skeptical that my pups could get along, however, Kai got to know each of them individually, understood their strengths and weaknesses, and built up their basic skills that would be helpful when they interacted. Within days, Kai had the boys hanging out together in the backyard and the house. Shortly thereafter, they were playing together, napping together, and bonding over their mutual desire to keep our yard cat-free. Now a mere two weeks later, they are co-existing most of the day, though we do give them breaks because it is still so new. Not only did Kai work his magic with the dogs, but he also provided our family the support and confidence we needed to ensure Leo and William's friendship continues to progress and to keep them both continually learning new skills or sharpening old ones. We know within a matter of weeks, we will be living with both dogs on the same schedule and in the same spaces as we have always wanted. Kai believed in the dogs and believed in us. We couldn't have dreamed of a better result. And despite the length of this review, I can't find the words that truly express the gratitude and admiration I have for Kai as both a dog trainer and human being. If you are fortunate enough to meet Kai, or have the benefit of him helping with your dog training, just start thanking him out the gate to get ahead of it.

I will never…read moreuse anyone else, and in my opinion, no one else should either unless you enjoy wasting time, money, and your dog's intellect. As a former public school educator, his philosophy was the only one that made common sense to me in how a dog and frankly, how humans learn. If he is your first call, you don't need to make any other calls. If he is your last call, you'll be kicking yourself for not finding him first. He comes to the house, for 15 minute training sessions first with your dog, then with you. Guess what your homework is, 7 minute practice with your dog twice a day tops. Then, you are going into bookstores, etc. with your dog. I had a 50 lb 6 month Pitbull/Rottweiler/Am Bulldog mix. I could NOT physically walk him anymore. A leaf blows by, a squirrel, a child squeals and wants to pet the puppy...I was yanked off my feet (I am a single, 5 foot female weighing around 110-115) Our world was getting smaller and smaller. Breyers changed our lives in a matter of weeks. So now I get to experience all of life with my dog by my side. And I'll close with this story. I got a call on a Monday at 5pm from my Dad coming back from a UT football game. "In Hillsboro at the split, I fell asleep at the wheel, woke up rolling and the car is totaled and I need you to come get me." Two girlfriends came over, one is a super small Asian woman that's never owned a dog and the other is older and has only owned purse-sized dogs. Within 30 seconds, I taught them how to walk Presley, and I got in my car and booked it down I-35. They could not believe how gentlemanly and well behaved Presley was, he waits until they walk through doorways, they stop, he stops, one even took him on the elevator, and prior to training, he wouldn't let me do that! And they didn't have to know or give any commands, just his name. So if you want a dog that understands how to behave when you have guests visit, when you are out walking, when you wanna pop into a bookstore, and who ignores squirrels, has respect and boundaries, and who can think and problem solve for themselves, hire Breyers. Again, I am a CPA and I put my name to Breyers Lane and his company Breyers' Canine Academy, and he is the only dog trainer I will ever endorse.
