The day of 3/17/24 was my first visit ever to a Petco store. When we first walked in of course we were greeted, and was offered help by an associate but we informed her that we were just looking around. My family and I ended up purchasing a Guinea Pig. The girl that helped us was Brook she was actually a cashier. She was great, nice, friendly, professional. There was another lady Nicole that also came to handle the paper work and relayed some information to us in regards to the Guinea Pig and if we were to have multiples what we could expect. She also informed us about the return policy and had told us that any Petco location could accept the Guinea Pig as long as they have space for it. Our experience that day was great. We actually ended up purchasing another Guinea Pig at a different store (after) that very same day which we ended up with three total. At the end of the night my husband and I decided that we only wanted two (I will exclude my reasons) Now fast forward to the next day, I thought my morning of returning the Guinea Pig was going to be a breeze. I stopped at the nearest location (Waikele Petco) and the associate working told me that they cannot accept the return because they don't have any habitat for it and that the store I purchased it from should have told me that. So I thanked her and left. I went to another location (Pearl City) and the associate there had also told me that the Guinea Pig would have to be returned to the store it was purchased from, the KAPOLEI store should have told me that and that the KAPOLEI store has a history of misleading their customers. So yes, I began to get annoyed because I had my four little children with me as well. So off we went to the KAPOLEI store and at first I was glad to see the same associate NICOLE working at the register. Let me tell you she was not too friendly that morning and I am going to guess it was because I came to do a return. I told her how we ended up buying another Guinea Pig after we left their store and that we decided to keep two instead of three Piggies. She tells me "well yeah, with all your little troopers (kids), you don't need anymore babies." She was not friendly AT ALL during the return process, even after telling her thank you, she didn't bother to say anything back to me. I mean she could have at least put a fake smile on her grumpy face. I hope she does not hold a position there (supervisor, manager) because she is FRICKEN TERRIBLE. Short hand on cashier. Other thing cashier need to know is that when you short hand on cashier, you need to CUT DOWN on talking to customers too long. Your talking keep customers waiting in line longer. Customers we don't have time to stand there and what you talking to other customers while you ring them up. You can ask someone to help customers on the side and keep the line moving faster. I come in and want to buy some fish and why is the employee always asking how many fish I want to buy when they not even catch the first one I want. Just do your job and go get the fish and customer and tell you after you finish catch the first one. Instead of asking how many. read more

Petco is my go-to place for my dog's needs. I went there yesterday to get some treats for him and also to get some help with a Petco account issue. I was lucky enough to get Elijah to help me. He listened patiently to my problem, read the paperwork I had brought with me, and called the main office to straighten things out. He was so kind, friendly, and took so much time to sort it all out for me. The store was extremely busy but he helped me without making me feel rushed and went the extra mile so I got the result I needed. Elijah is a credit to Petco and will keep me coming back to the store. Now if Petco would stock more dog treats with a low k-cal number (2 to 5 kcal each) I will be a very happy dog mom with a happy dog (who needs to keep his treat protein down as he has kidney problems). Glad Petco liked my review.....sad they didn't mention my issue of them not carrying low k-cal treats. Makes me feel they aren't really listening to a customer's needs. read more

GROOMING! You know what, I am so sorry this took me so long to write! But let me tell you. I love Nikki and Nicole! They both cut my dog Bailey's hair and idk why but they always gets it absolutely perfect. Sometimes I have to get Bailey an ASAP appt so I'll do a same day walk in but no one gets it like they do. Today I had an appt booked (cut and bath) with Nikki and Rayy helped me upgrade to the new package with the upgraded shampoo and nail buffing. Bailey looks and feels so soft and smells so nice. Her face is trimmed and she got a cute little lion tail! I can't thank these women enough for taking care of Bailey and going beyond to give us an excellent experience each time I see them ! read more

Which his hair cut came out exactly how i wanted it. My dog is happy even after the grooming, when i went to the other groomer he was not as happy as when I picked him up today. And to me thats all that matters. I dont care if ny interaction was great. I care how you (petco staff) and my dog interact with eachother. Im glad that i didnt have to worry about that. Grooming went WAY down hill within the past year. Nicole was amazing and so were all the girls that worked with her. But ever since she left, some haole lady with big glasses was horribly rude and didn't care about dogs at all. Every time I came in I saw her yelling at the dogs and being so rough with them. Her name was Heather I believe. And now she's gone and so are all the amazing groomers from before. What happened to everyone!? Shows a lot of a reflection on Petco and their management being that so many people left. So so sad. read more

I've been here a couple of times to get my Kiba groomed and have always been happy with the outcome. Today I was most happy and impressed when They brought her out! Made an appointment with NICOLE B to get my 7 month old Goldendoodle a haircut on a Friday. 1.5 hours in, HEATHER M calls and says that my puppy is being "mean"; saying that she "tried to bite someone" and is attacking the blow dryer. My Goldendoodle would NEVER try to bite someone, EVER. She's a happy, goofy puppy who belongs to two young girls; she chases leaves, thinks it's her job to kiss everyone she meets and gets so excited when she meets someone new that she shishis. I highly DOUBT she tried to bite someone, but must admit that she may attack a blow dryer...I bet that was really funny. I apologize over and over, and HEATHER says "don't be sorry!! This happens ALL the time. We're really busy today, it's super loud, and she's probably just excited". She says she's completed the bath, could try and finish the haircut, but would hate for her to leave with half a haircut. Heather was nice enough to not charge me (although I did insist she did) since she was unable to complete the service. She offers to reschedule for another day-perhaps a Tuesday or Wednesday, when it's slower and quieter (evidently, Fridays and the days leading up to holidays are extra busy for the groomers) and they can try again. I apologize a hundred more times, tip her, and make an appointment for the following Tuesday. Tuesday comes along and the GENERAL MANAGER calls a few hours before our appointment and says "RILEY A heard about your dog trying to bite the last groomer, and doesn't feel comfortable working with her. And I can't force the groomers to do something they're not comfortable doing, so I'm going to have to cancel your appointment. BUT, HEATHER, the head groomer, who works tomorrow, will be MORE than happy to try, and will be expecting your call". I'm bummed, because 4 days have passed since the first appointment, and I wish that RILEY had said sooner that he doesn't want to DO HIS JOB, and I would've rescheduled with someone else or gone elsewhere in that time. I also don't appreciate NICOLE being super dramatic and talking crap about my dog; exaggerating her experience and painting her as a crazy hyena that almost ripped her throat out. (Side note: We end up cutting our puppy's bangs that night ourselves by placing a cookie on the ground and telling her to "leave it". She stared at the cookie, we cut her hair, and now she has eyeballs. It was NOT hard. I don't know what NICOLE was doing with her-probably something sketch that she didn't appreciate. They say dogs can sense evil.) The next day, I call to make an appointment with HEATHER, am told she's busy, so she'll call me back. Four hours later, still no call, so I call again. She says "I was just going to call you. I was just told that I can't groom your dog because she tried to bite someone, but I can refer you to someone else". I say "really? You're not allowed to groom her?" And she says "No. I was just told I can't". REALLY?? I ask to speak with the manager. CJ comes on the phone and says that it's their policy to refer all dogs who have been aggressive to outside grooming companies. I ask him if this is a new policy which just started-because the things the GM and Heather have said makes me think that it is. He says no, that it's always been their policy. Then WHY, please tell me WHY I was 1. Comforted by HEATHER, told that this happens all the time, and that we could try again on a slower day? 2. Told by the GM that her employee RILEY was believing whatever CRAZY, EXAGGERATED story drama ass NICOLE was telling and unwilling to do his job, but would reschedule our appointment? And 3. Lied to for a THIRD time, again by HEATHER, saying that she was literally "just told" that she can't groom my puppy? I tell CJ that our puppy has been groomed AND had her nails trimmed at Petco before, with NO problems. I say that even HEATHER admitted that that Friday was crazy and loud, and that all dogs have their bad days. So my dog has one bad day with evil NICOLE and is now black listed like some sort of criminal? The only positive in this entire thing was CJ. He took my concerns seriously and promised to investigate what happened; that he would speak with all involved and make sure it doesn't happen again. He said that I should've been told that Friday that my puppy would need to be referred out instead of being lied to over and over by his incompetent groomers and GM. He's a fantastic manager who actually cares and does his job really well, and I do feel bad that he had to deal with me and apologize for his shitty employees who obviously DON'T give a SHIT about DOGS or their humans. So, if you want to be insulted, LIED to, waste your time, have someone dick around with you for weeks, and made to feel like shit, then the Kapolei Petco is the place for you. But may I please suggest saving yourself the stress and anger and going to see Merissa at Grooming in Paradise? read more

Staff was really nice and accommodating when I woke up late for my dogs appointment so that was awesome. They ask for 3 hours to make sure there's plenty of time for all the services. I paid extrra tO buzz him down as much as possible cuz it's getting warm again and he's shedding bad. They asked me if they should trim the tale as well and I said yes but it wasn't cut. They shaved up to his head and it looks a little funny but I'm ok with it. The nails were cut but noT filed down so he's been scratching me with them.i don't know what happened in the chest area but hE's got a sliver about 3 inches long where it was shaved down more than the rest. He came out happy lookiNg like a young pup and smelling good so it was not bad. I'll try them one more time in the future and wilL update. Oh, if your appointment is before store hours, there is a signn to the right to ring the doorbell, the doorbell is on the side of the metal frame, I didn't see it right away but I i don't think it workss tto be honEst. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THE FIRST TIME PET OWNER!!!! Came into this store not knowing where to start after getting a new puppy. The staff was super helpful giving us the expertise A to Z, we felt almost bad that they just totally went above and beyond giving us every advice first time puppy owner could get. The store staff walked me through every dog section of the Petco and we were geared up as very equipped furever home for this little fur baby. In matter of minutes, we got vaccination, nail grooming, crates, puppy foods (free!), other puppy supplies (half off!), and appropriate chew toys this fur baby could ever have. I could not be more happier. I did not expect this at all and would be looking forward to going back their again with my new furbaby! read more

Petco located at Kapolei Commons. It is a mighty big pet store where an individual can adopt a cat, get their dogs groomed, buy pet food, pet toys, pet clothes, as well as other pet accessories. As I was killing time and browsing around at the pet store I noticed a lot of cute doggy clothing. Too bad they were a bit too big for my mom's little chihuahua. I had no idea that dogs can have their own backpacks. That's kind of cool especially if a person is taking their dog out for long walks. While I was looking at all the different colors of collars and leashes for the four legged animals...a customer comes in with his golden retriever. Such a nice and friendly dog...also somewhat hyper. Lol. The dog was pretty much walking his owner. I continued to browse around and noticed there was still one more cat ready to be adopted. I already have enough stray cats coming into my yard...I don't need to add another cat. I walked around the store some more and seen all the fish aquariums, the love birds or parakeets, the turtles, the rabbits, and even mice. I didn't know people can keep mice as pets. Very interesting. If I do ever need to get a gift for my mom's little chihuahua at least I know I can come to Petco for a chew toy, a leash, a collar, or maybe doggy clothes. read more

Booked a grooming appointment a week in advance for 12:15 on Saturday. We get there at 12 anticipating a line, which there was. The groomer attempted to be transparent and said they were busy so what usually take 3 hours might take 4. Ok. Well, we drove to a sit down lunch in Waikele, donated blood and got back at 3:45 to check on our pup. He had just gotten done bathing and the groomer was brushing him. So 3 and a half hours later he had gotten a bath? He had a knot behind 1 ear. Check on him at 4:45. Then we're told he had an accident and went to the bathroom on the table so he had to be bathed again. First off, we ensured he was relieved of his #1 AND #2 BEFORE we left for his appointment and secondly, this is now 4 hours later! He didn't come out of there until 5:45! This is unacceptable! My dog is traumatized! read more

I took my rescue dog in for standard care. The groomer said she would try to lip her to make her look better. She was hit by a car so her legs are shaved, but shes a long haired dog. I said she could give it a try. When I cam to pick up my dog most of the hair had been clipped short (she has sheep dog hair). She looks worst than when I took her in. In addition, she did not clip between her paw pads. I get that my dog is a special case, but I was charged full price for a face clipping. I will still use the standard bath package, but I will just clip my dog myself in the future. Even if I screw it up I saved myself $60! read more

My dog and I take Puppy Level 1 classes with Sherrill (trainer) and we love it! The class is 1 hour long for 6 weeks and there may be up to 6 puppies in the class. The trainings are based on positive reinforcements and require the owners to continue training at home, daily. The skills are scaffolded and increase in difficulty as the weeks progress. They also give articles and other printed readings regarding behavior, effective training, and other general information that cannot be covered during class. Sherrill is amazing! Her experience, knowledge, and natural affinity with dogs is very evident. Her teaching style is calm and relaxed and the pups respond really well with her. She is able to differentiate and cater to the individual needs of each dog and graciously answers the many questions we have as puppy owners. I highly recommend taking classes here. We are already signed up for Puppy Level 2! read more

Just returned from PetCo Kapolei! I took Lola in for grooming with Miss Nicole, her favorite stylist! She looks and smells so beautiful now, she was so worn out from getting gorgeous she almost slept on the way home! Everyone was nice there, always asking if we found what we were looking for. (Yelp 2018 Challenge 9/100) I love the staff here first and foremost. For some reason whenever I come, we always happen upon this clerk that jokes around and makes us laugh and really makes the shopping experience fun. Weird thing is, I actually never come in here to shop for my pets! I come to look at the dog-toy section... because Petco is the ONLY store I can ever find ice-cream themed plushies! My best friend loves ice cream so for the past few occasions, I've been coming here to buy her different dog toys lol. Let me tell you, their selection does not disappoint! These are real quality ice cream toys I tell you. They even squeak! :-P I have, however, been around the rest of the store and have always found it to be clean and well-stocked. I always go and say hi to the kitties and am so glad Petco only hosts adoptions from shelters and not breeders. Anyway, if you're looking for quality food for your pets, I'd say this is the place to go. Of course if you really like ice cream themed things, come check out the dog toys. Took my puppy for her first grooming today and I was absolutely pleased! I was so happy with the service Alyssa provided. They were able to squeeze me in on last minute notice. Took about 3 hours for them to groom as well as do a de-shedding. When I got there to pick her up she looked so cute! They even put cute ribbons in her hairAlso, got some great information from Taylor (the dog trainer) on classes that they provide! Great experience! read more

This review is for their grooming department. We've been bringing our pup Koba in here on and off for the past year or so. We have had a few incidents where they had forgotten to clip nails, clean ears or left matts BUT every time we let them know, they immediately resolve it for us. We even received a free grooming for our past visit because he did not seem to have received the de-shed brushing that we usually pay additional for. I'm glad that they really care about making their customers happy. Shout out to Tip for sending Koba out looking better than ever,so fresh and clean! KAPOLEI PETCO STORE ONLY: PET GROOMING I normally don't like leaving a bad remark but this one I felt I needed to address. My reason for a bad remark on kapolei Petco groomers department? On Oct 14,2022 I had my dogs appt scheduled online for 10:30am. I haven't brought my dogs in for grooming at Petco for a long time. Once i booked online, Petco sends text reminders to confirm and remind you about your appt and what is needed prior to coming in. So the day came and as I went into the store 10-15 mins earlier, I stood at the grooming desk to check in and normally they would always greet you and your dog with a warm friendly welcome, no not this time, I was faced with one of the groomers named (Helen) who was on the computer. Made eye contact but Still No hello, no smile just eyes on computer. She didn't ask me for anything yet, I just thought ok I'll let her know I'm here. Told her my dogs name and appt time which was 10:30am, she said I'll be with you in a minute. Ok So I had to wait still for another 5-10 by then my dog pooped on the rug by the entrance, I had to clean it up while customers come in and out of the store. still no word from the groomer by the computer, I asked her for cleaning supplies, she points to where it's located then ask her where's the spray to wipe down, she goes in back, gets the spray bottle puts it on the counter and went back to her computer. Finally after cleaning my dogs mess, she then finally speaks to me and ask how old is my dog - when was his last grooming there - where's his vaccinations at the same time still no friendly smile, no hello, no greeting my dog, etc. then she ask to see my dogs vaccination recordz Gave it to her than she says to me that my dog hasn't done a physical for 3 yrs that she comes back and says she can't groom him. Didn't know we needed that too. I don't know if she was saying that cause I told her my dog is a senior dog, he has some anxiety and she may need help with trimming around his mouth and nose cause my dog doesn't like being touch there, then she comes out and says she can't groom my dog. I was shocked so I grabbed the paper back from her and walked out without saying anything. I've seen other groomers do it with patience and love and they got it done. This was an urgent one and my other groomers next appt wasn't till another 2 wks, Petco Kapolei was the only one had openings. I wasted my time going there for nothing which they could've told me prior to my coming that full physical exams need to be updated also besides vaccination. This was my worst experience ever encounter at Petco. I've never had to experience this for as long as I've been shopping and grooming my dogs or even going there. Just be aware! Petco has a new policy before they can groom. Vaccination and physical exam need to be current and up to date. Never had that to provide at any other groomers except maybe vaccination. Made a report to Human Resources office. So unfriendly this person is, so unhappy she looks, and no love for pets, very unprofessional I should say. read more

*Grooming review* I was nervous for my baby's first groom bc but he came out happy as ever! Alyssa was very helpful in helping us get bentley in, as we had weren't aware that they take appointments, she took us in right there & that was awesome bc it was a busy Saturday. 3 hours later here's our baby. All nice and clean and looked better than I imagine. I also like that they seem to actually care about the well being of your pet - he didn't seem anxious or had a bad experience with any part of the process which is important to his growing sociability. *if your dog has sensitive skin you're allowed to bring your own shampoo & conditioner but you have to bring verification that it's vet approved* read more

I am very sad and upset to be writing this review as my rating is not based on the grooming staff that we've had the pleasure of having take care of our 3 babies in the almost 4 consecutive years in the past...but is a rating for the grooming staff and management that is currently there now. The last grooming appointment we had was just in July and now all of a sudden a whole new staff is there and I am sorry to say that I have never felt so discriminated against and hurt for my baby who they refused service for essentially because he is an elder dog. A little background...I have 3 babies...I have a 15 y/o male shepard/chow mix, 12 y/o female daschund/terrier mix, and an 8 y/o male chocolate lab. Since moving back home about 4 years ago we have been religiously going to this store for grooming services and never once had any negative remarks about the staff there until today. My 15 y/o is considered an elder dog because of his age of course and about a year ago as he was being seen for a cut the groomer felt that something was wrong with him because he was salivating a little too much so they took him to the vet while he was there. The vet said that nothing was wrong with him and that everything was normal (***keep this story in mind because it is an important part in the timeline***). Fast forward to today, my 3 babies were scheduled for their usual grooming and my 15 y/o is the only one needing a cut per usual. When I got there they asked me when he was last seen by the vet and I said the last time was when you all took him. Mind you...I have NEVER been asked this in my 4 years of bringing him to this store until today. It was as if they never had my 3 babies in the system at all because they were asking for weights of the dogs and everything and I'm like why only know. After I told them that he was last seen when they took him the groomer flat out said with him being an elder dog i don't feel comfortable taking care of him today. The groomer continued to give me the spill about we have so many things in our back room that may stress your dog out and we just want to make sure he is comfortable. Again I reiterated, this is not his first rodeo here. He has been here time and time again with no issues. The groomer kept saying that the previous staff did not follow proper protocol and should have asked these questions at every visit. Well, at least the previous staff was way more courteous and friendly and exercised better customer service than the staff today did. So of course I asked to speak to a manager and the manager asked the same questions and I told the manager the same things and I still get refused service for my 15 y/o who needs the service the most because of his hair growth. My other 2 go there just for the grooming and not a cut. After I literally went off on this manager and questioned this manager's take on the discrimination of my elder dog, he agreed to at least service my other 2 babies who have not been seen by a vet within the last year unlike my elder dog. I was so livid and hurt for my baby because he was being discriminated against because he is an elder dog. At first I agreed to that and tried to see it as them just doing their job. Then the district manager approaches me and apologizes for the hassle of having to come all this way for essentially nothing, which was very nice. But then, the comment was made that the Waikele store has a self-wash area there where I can wash him myself and I was like washing him is not the problem...I'm here essentially to get his hair cut as they look down to see just how long my baby's hair really is. That was the turning point for me. So I just pulled my one baby they already checked in as my husband who was outside the whole time with the other babies told me to not trust them anymore. They discriminated against my baby because he's an elder dog essentially!!! So sad!!! Every visit, we spend damn near $300 for my 3 babies plus we tip each of their groomers very well. But unfortunately, after today's events, never again will this store get a penny out of us. We were good, loyal, long-time paying customers...never again. read more

We did a buy online pick up in store today. We received an email saying "Thank you. Your order is ready to be picked up. We got to the store. The cashier right away told her co worker to help us and she'll help the customer that just got there behind us. Then the one that was helping us said she couldn't find our order so she asked the cashier for help. Right away, the cashier's face was so cold and made it known to us that she didn't want to help us. She looked at my daughter's phone and said this order is in Ewa and you need to go pick it up there. Then we told her that's our address and here it shows pick up in Kapolei. Then she said there's nothing we can do because your order is not showing. Then I told her but the email clearly stated that our order is ready that's why we drove here. Then my daughter said she'll just buy the stuff then return the ones we ordered online when we come back to pick it up. Cashier said oh no you can't do that. And we said so what happens the our order online now that it doesn't show. Cashier goes there's nothing I can do if it's not showing. So we asked for her manager which was right a few feet away from us (really close). We then started explaining it to her but the cashier insisted on talking about her side and the manager told my daughter that can you please let me listen to my employee. We asked for her so she can help us resolve it but rather she made it seem that we are causing something while clearly we are just asking why the order doesn't show on their end and our email showed for us to pick the order up because it's ready. Yes my daughter's voice started getting a little loud because of frustration but there was no bad words, or any words used to fight them. We just wanted a clarification why the email states for us to pick up our order because it's ready at Kapolei store and in their end our order cannot be seen. That if it's a glitch that she the manager claims it is what is the resolution for customers that drove all way to pick up the order. What they did is call the police on us and told us that she can trespass us in her store. It is very inconvenient for the customer to drive to their store when the email prompted them to do so then find out that the the store doesn't have the order. Why would we waste our time and gas especially with the prices of gas right now if we cannot pick up our online order that showed on our email that's ready? Instead of being understanding the store manager argued with us and said there's nothing she can do if it's the system glitch. read more

Absolutely appalled with Petco - Kapolei "GROOMERS". I called a day ahead for my dog to be scheduled for a bath and having his teeth brushed. Dropped him off on time at 11am. He's not a long-haired dog & his fur dries pretty quickly for a large breed. I was hoping my dog would be done within three hours MAX with drying included. 1pm rolls around and not a peep out of Petco. Worried my fiancé calls them asking them "what's the status of our dog?" The lady simply states "it'll be another hour". I don't understand what took them so long, but I was worried about when they actually started on my dogs services. My fiancé decides to just go there physically on his own to see what's the deal. He asks' them questions and whoever rang up the charges basically brushed him off and if we have a complaint to email or call customer service at the bottom of our receipt. No apologies. No legitimate explanation why they took so long. My fiancé finally puts him in our SUV and he still smelled and if they even brushed his teeth because it didn't look nor smell like it. Their manager wasn't working today. Pretty funny you all would let a store associate run the actual store? They gave us a $10 discount which came out to $95. My poor large dog was kenneled for over an hour with NO ONE bothering to calls us that he was ready to be picked up. What's even funnier is they blatantly lied to my fiancé when he called at 1pm because they told him he has been ready for over an hour!! When asked why they didn't bother calling? There was no explanation. You just decided to leave my dog in a kennel for over an hour knowing we called. I'm utterly disgusted with their services and with all the groomers attitudes that I refuse to have my dog endure that treatment after we spend that kind of money. I rather spend it at an indie groomer than this place and know he's getting the right treatment and my money's worth!! Believe me PETCO groomers, I will be contacting not only "customer support", BUT I will get a hold of your regional boss as well and won't stop until you all quit doing sloppy work and show actual concern and care for your clients (the dogs). $95 wasted.
