DO NOT GO HERE! This place is a scam, went to get my dog groomed and they overcharged me by adding the spa treatment when I didn't even ask for it , next the most important is they cut my dog with there clippers and my dog was in pain for 1 whole week . Also place was a mess , front desk lady was soooo rude . (Heavier set woman) next the groomer Alicia who groomed my dog basically did nothing my dog came back the same. When my dog got back home she had nightmares for a whole week :( people tell me not to go here but I didn't listen. I will be talking with petco management. My boyfriend and I adopted our corgi/rat terrier mix from a rescue in February. Milo couldn't follow any commands, peed on everything, door dashed, and peed when excited. We got quoted at $800 to train milo through "sit means sit." Which is insane. So we decided to try Petco training. Luckily we got paired up with trainer Jesssica. She is beyond amazing. At $120 for six 1-hr sessions... She's moved mountains with milo. He can do a dozen tricks and is an overall more well behaved at home. Its fun for me and me boyfriend too to spend time together with our pup. Seriously... Sign up for training. She will change your dog for the better. I will recommend Jessica to anyone! read more

I normally only go out of my way to review chains when their either really awesome or really terrible...unfortunately, this is one of the terrible reviews. I have never been a fan of the Petco chain to begin with, but this place really solidified my distaste. First, I once walked into this store and saw loose mice running around, dead fish, and bugs everywhere. I tweeted the company on Twitter, and shortly received a phone call from the western region manager. He made excuses for everything, and even said the mice had found their way into the store after the "recent flooding." Um, what? How did mice, that look just like the ones you sell, manage to make their way into the store? Furthermore, how did they manage to live in your store for days without being seen by an associate? And when was the last time Las Vegas had floods serious enough to wash animals into storefronts? I waited a few months after this incident before I decided to try them out again. This location offers grooming, and I was in desperate need to get my dogs groomed as their fur was long and it was starting to get hot outside. I brought the dogs in for our 12:30 appointment at about ~12:15 and was forced to stand around with them until ~12:45. I knew being early meant I would have to wait, but having to wait for 30 minutes (with all the loud sounds and other dogs in the tiny waiting room) was a nightmare. I was then told they would be ready by about 2:30, which was perfect for me since I had plans later in the day. However, 2:30 rolled around and I did not hear from Petco. Then 3:00 came around, and I still heard nothing. At 3:30, I finally decided to head down there, and found that only one of my dogs had been taken care of. I then had to stand there for about 30 minutes while my other dog was brought out and shaved. It was not until then that they told me the total cost would be over $100 - even after I waited all day for them to be done, and was not given an update once! Petsmart has never charged me this much, and is always on top of their salon. I am not sure if this place was just overbooked for the day, or the staff is not good at communicating - by the time I arrived, there was only one woman who was working her hardest to take care of everything before they closed for the day. Despite being optimistic, and giving them a second change, I will not be returning here, and I advise pet owners to look for other grooming options before coming here. read more

Terrible service. I always end up going to the blue diamond location because no one helps me in the fish department. Most of the fish were dying on Tuesday, May 13. The fish were all sinking to the bottom. I try to only buy plants from this location and I can't even get that from this place. I live down the street from this location but refuse to come back. Horrible place. Went in there today with my nephew because he loves seeing the cats. I came across a Savannah monitor! Wth. No. 1. that cage was WAAAAAY too small for the savannah. 2. There was not enough soil/sand for it to be active! 3. The temperature required for a monitor was way off. And it did not have a basking area. It was so sad to see that little baby suffer. I do not recommend going to that Petco at all. Everything is also way too pricey. Poor animals. Clearly they don't know anything about reptiles. (I'm a reptile lover.) they should just stick to their furry and water friends. Disgusting place. Going again tomorrow to file a compliant. read more

Well first of all im very upset that i even have to give 1 star to this store and their employees.. i have been a long time customer with Petco (over 8 years) .. and i spend an average of $150- $200/month of Nutro dog food and occasionally toys for my 4 dogs .. I've never felt like such an inconvience like i did tonight at Petco on serene/eastern .. While walking up to the store, there was a blonde lady in a yellow shirt standing at the doors (in between them) but with the doors almost completely shut, with just enough space for her to stand there.. i walk up to the door that she's "guarding" and she asks "do you already know what you're buying? " .. i was immediately thrown off but i responded . man in a black pollo tshirt behind her said "WE LET YOU IN" with an attitude and raised voice .. and again i stated "yea after you harrassed me" .. i then asked .. "ok so just to confirm, its just THIS location that closes their doors to customers 15minutes before they close right?" .. no one replied, i obviously was bothering them .. then i grabbed my nutro and started to walk out at 6:51pm (time on my reciept) .. the doors to the store were CLOSED and that same blonde hair lady in the yellow shirt had to PUSH the doors open to let me out at 6:51 when this location closes at 7pm .. (pull video footage to see for yourself) I obviously was ruining their after work plans and my business was an inconvenience to them ... i definitely will be changing all my future pet purchases to another competitor and will make sure all my friends and family do the same .. i would hate for a friend or family member to feel what i felt tonight .. ive never felt more disrepected or unwelcomed in my life.. I have cancelled my Petco Repeat Delivery services of over $100 each month.. I do not recommend this store or this company to anyone who loves or cares about their pets !!!! read more

They have really cleaned up this Petco store! It looks like they have completely rearranged the store's lay out and it flows so much better! It's still not as nice as the Petsmart down the street but it's a huge improvement over what this store used to be! read more

Trainer Jessica is an absolute pro and pleasure to learn from! Our English Bulldog puppy, my daughter and I have been training with Jessica working toward the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Certification. Not only have we all had a blast, but our puppy has learned all of his commands (in a foreign language!) and looks forward to his weekly lessons. He gets sooo excited when we get to the entrance of Petco...it's adorable! Most of all, Jessica has not only done a phenomenal job training our puppy, but she has does an even better job training US! Classes are fun, and it's even more fun to have a well behaved, attentive dog. Thank you, Jessica!! read more

The guy working in the fish ward is unfriendly and unprofessional. Always carries an attitude when asking for help buying fish, as if he is doing you a big favor. When comes to returning fish, even if you do it within 30 days with a receipt, he will give you a hard time trying not to honoring the return policy. The girl working at the same department on the other hand is much more helpful and friendly. So try your luck if you visit this Petco! read more

SAMMY should not have a career at PETCO!!! Went in to purchase a chameleon with my girlfriend and INSTEAD of getting great customer service we were treated with disrespect from the BEGINNING!....SAMMY was acting very aggressive and rude from the initial meet and greet staring us down where we stood by the chameleons she was very skeptical on letting us purchase this chameleon after we refused to buy a $150 set up for it (when I have one at already) which was explained but she then refused to sell the lizard to us....what we ALSO noticed was that she removed the sale sign of 50% off. We then asked for the General Manager and she told us she was, and that we can talk to her assistant....mind I tell you this was all going on during their dog adoption event. We had people and children observing the situation during this unprofessional service show down....it was clear as day that Sammy was trying to hide the sale for her own personal use which to me is unacceptable.....After finally speaking to her "assistant" he even had a look of confusion on why she wasn't allowing us to buy it and he to had no clue on where the on sale tags went that were on the lizards cages...we were EXTREMELY uncomfortable with the looks that Sammy was throwing our way so much to the point where I didn't even want to purchase the other $100 worth of supplies that I needed for my other pets. I recommend to not deal with Sammy and ask for someone else because by the looks of it she's pretty known on here (yelp) for giving poor performance based customer service. Petco please review this employees intentions on why she's working at your establishment and reply to me on what was done to correct this behavior. read more

We went in tonight and there was 4 cats in the very small boxes. I asked the guys who work there if the cats always stay in those boxes or ever get out and they said they always stay until someone adopts them. It's like a very small jail! One had a very raspy voice and was clearly I'll! The other was 13 years old and clearly just wanted space! It's animal cruelty to leave those cats in those small boxes! One cat had some huge puffy thing in its box and couldn't even sit in it! Do something about it! read more

I don't normally leave reviews on yelp but I couldn't resist giving the groomers and staff here 5 stars for their excellent service! My shih tzu puppy (who's normally the biggest sweetheart) has major anxiety when it comes to bath time and getting groomed. I've witness first hand how vicious he can get under stress but his groomers here have never given up on him. If I were ever randomly shopping in the store, the staff would instantly recognize me and ask how my little pup was doing. I'm sad to have recently moved out of the area because I highly doubt I would find groomers that genuinely care about my puppy as much as the staff at this store does! read more

We come here often for food, treats, and supplies. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Everything is always clean and well organized. They always have decent sales. They carry a good variety, and I always find what I came in for. We have not used the grooming or training services, so I cannot rate those, but everything else here is great. read more

I have spent thousands of dollars on treats, supplements, leashes, collars, costumes, toys and food there. Never again. I took my dog to get groomed here today and I was less than impressed with the results. He had a glob of conditioner on his hair still and he didn't smell very good either. The reason I am giving them three stars is because they are reasonable priced (we paid $30) for a cleaning of his teeth, ears and body and a trim of his nails and a brush out. I also really like the staff and how sweet they are with my dog. The other thing I did like was they gave me a report of what they did and how he behaved while he was with them. It is New Year's Eve so they might have been rushed to get home but I think in the future if I'm unhappy I will say something and give them a chance to make it better. read more

I feel like the quality of my experience was very bad for the short amount of time I was here. I took my pup for a nail grooming service and this male groomer was in the back grooming a dog and it started to bark at mine and he smacked it, he also told the dog "you're making me so mad dog" I proceeded to talk to the lady helping me and she was trying to upsale me on a service but then realized I didn't want it because I knew my dog was a little too new (she's a puppy still) to grooming to do well with that service & the male in the back proceeded to say to my husband and I "oh looks like that dog has her parents trained already." I feel like the comments he made were unnecessary, rude & the way he treated the dog he was grooming in the 10 minutes I was there was upsetting. I will NEVER take my dog back even for a nail trim (although the lady that did end up grooming my pup did a fine job) I have also previously had terrible customer service in the actual store. All the employees are lazy, don't want to help you with anything & don't ever go after 8:30, even for a quick trip, they walk by you & remind you every 5 seconds they're closing soon. read more

This location is one of my favorite ones out of them all. For some reason the staff here just doesnt seem as helpful and friendly as some of the other ones. The animals seem to be well take care of but the employees do not really encourage you holding them or asking any questions about them either. I did buy a hamster from there and was satisfied with her but not too pleased with the staff help at that time. read more

To start off I go to petco pretty frequently for fish supplies and stuff for new tanks. One of these times I bought some aquatic wood (to lower my ph) so I got two small pieces. This was my first time buying wood so I wasn't aware of them having to scrub the wood with a brush to clean it of snails and what not. Apparently it was the head of the aquatics department that gave me them! So a few weeks later I found a snail in my tank... most unbought snails are pests and you don't want them in your tank. I have yet to find another one but I'll keep looking. More recently my girlfriend got some plants from the same guy and he took them out placed them right into the bag without washing them or anything. Now my girlfriend has a HUGE snail problem because they're too lazy to get them off much less control them in they're own tank. She got fish the same day and he scooped a whole bunch out of the tank and she only needed three. He starts picking the fish out of the net with HIS HAND!!! I don't know how stupid these people are but touching any fish with your hand takes the slime coat off them which basically allows them to be susceptible to diseases and parasites that their coat would normally keep out. He continues to do that with five different fish then put the three in the bag that she wanted with his hand. So if you don't want snails or fish that could possible get very sick, then don't shop here because the staff and the "head" of the aquatics department are dumbasses and can't open a book or even look up the basics of fish keeping. read more

I am rating this specific PetCo 4 stars due to the amazing service / grooming experience I had for my furbaby on Wednesday. Daniel was outstanding. I stopped in the week prior to pick up some treats for my puppy and thought I would stop into the salon to inquire about grooming. I have a chow chow named Bear who is one years old as of today. Bear has recently gotten neutered and I usually bathe him myself but after him being neutered he needed it to be professionally done. I stopped in to meet Daniel and possibly schedule an appointment. I notified him that Bear is a chow chow and knowing how people usually react when I say that due to the chow chow reputation I watched his reaction and he was very confident that there shouldn't be any problems with getting Bear taken care of. My dog is a good dog and has been through training. I socialize him at dog parks and regular parks so he is around other dog often and people. I just want to put that out there. It's not my dog that I am afraid will not interact well with others, it's others that I am afraid will not know how to properly approach him being that he is a alfa dog. Anyhow, Daniel suggested to bring Bear in so he could meet him and see which grooming package would suit Bear the best. I brought Bear in a few days later and Daniel walked up to him, kneeled down and let Bear get a sense of smell before Daniel went to reach out to Bear. Once Daniel saw that Bear was okay with him he started to rub Bear on the side of the neck, on his chest area and on top of the head. Bear reacted very well to this (as always when someone goes to pet him). Once Daniel started to pick up his paws to pay a look at his nails Bear started to bark which I corrected Bear on and Daniel said no he is fine, he's just talking and we can do that all day. we made an appointment for Wednesday at 8AM. Daniel suggested that I take Bear to the park first so he can get some of his energy out so I did. I took Bear to him after and he again approached Bear properly so he wouldn't get scared and sent me on my way. Bear was left with Daniel for a little over 2 hours and as Daniel said he did an amazing job. I picked my furbaby up smelling good and feeling SUPER soft. I don't want to make my dog sound like a bad dog because he is not at all. He runs freely at the park with no leash and no problem. People love him and he loves people. He plays very well with other dogs and has not gotten into any altercations. But if you know anything about chow chow breeds, they are one owner dogs and Bear can get defensive when he knows someone is trying to "do something" to him. Either it be the vet or a groomer. With alfa dogs, you have to build that relationship with them and even from the first approach it can take some time. They will not just let you take over and be okay with it. I have no problem with Bear when strangers want to pet him or when kids want to play with him. But when someone wants to "do something" to him, he knows and you have to be patient with him and let him know that everything is okay other wise he will panic.
