Spoiled does not explain how I continue to shop and shower my furry baby with such magical treasures. She absolutely has me trained and this was one of those occasions that I knew she was out of those special treats she has to have. So what do I do? Of course I buy them for her! For if not then she shows me that sad face. But when I bring her special treats home she does this special dance all over the house for hours and rewards me in dog speak. Just her way of saying thank you. This is the first time that I have visited this Petco and the layout is similar to their many other locations. I made my way to the back of the store where the signs indicate the dog aisles of the store are located. The selection of dog treats is excellent here with many wonderful choices. They even had the particular brand of treats that my puppy has to have. While I was shopping for the dogs many needs decided to buy her dry food here too! Why not? While everyone in the family is eating healthier these days I have switched the type of dry dog food to ensure she only eats grain free food. In fact with her eating healthier keeps her coat sleek and oh so soft. So it's grain free all the way for her. The brand that I bought and continue to buy for her is Blue Buffalo. They even had it on sale so who could go wrong there. Now to the register, the cashier was very pleasant and had one customer ahead of me at the time. He was very wonderful at making eye contact with his current guest and making small talk during the sale. At my turn the cashier continued the wonderful service to me. I enjoy a little refreshing shop talk while they ring up the purchases it makes it not feel so awkward. No awkwardness here, and after the swipe of the Visa it was off to home to greet the puppy with her treats! read more

Terrible customer service. I called and got a quote for vaccinations. I wanted the first appointment of the day, so I waited an extra week. I got there at 8 am... the Dr. strolls in around 8:25. The quote was approx. $110, then they said $185 when I got there... after waiting a week for the appt. and then again when we arrived. We left without the shots... never to return. We took our elderly kitty this week to the Vet Hospital and he received the most wonderful care. The Doctor called me each day while we waited for test results to check in on our cat. The price was affordable and we were able to get an appointment right away. read more

I took my Chihuahua into Petco on E. Serene for his monthly grooming and when I went to pick him up, there was a group of groomers around him and I was informed he somehow caught his foot in the crate and tore a nail. I looked and seen a little blood, but kept extremely calm. We took him to the emergency vet clinic where they sedated him, cut the nail out and bandaged it. Petco payed for then initial treatment, however to have the bandage removed and toe checked cost me over $100. I complained to the supervisor and was told that further treatment will also be covered. So bottom line (as of now) I am out of over $100 and have to watch my poor baby limp around on pain meds and antibiotics, all for a monthly grooming. I must admit the staff did seem like they did what they could, but from what i understand this could have been avoided. Now i'm just praying there are no infections or further complications. I dropped my golden retriever off to get groomed and 1 hour and half got a call from them saying that they could not bathe him. I have never had this happen before being that I have him groomed at bone appetite. They shaved him but looked liked a lawn mower cut him. Will never ever recommend or bring him back there even if there was no charge. read more

If you have a dog that sheds a lot I HIGHLY recommended taking them to get a bath/shed release package at the groomers. I take my husky and she LOVES it, as soon as we pull up she starts running around the back seat. They are always so nice and Amy does an amazing job!! Went to this store last night to by several fish for my fish tank, I have owned a aquarium for many years, I asked a sales person to help me Purchase several fish, She the begin to Grill me on questions on how big my fish tank was and how many fish per gallon and that I safely keep in my tank, I then told her that I wanted two very small fish of one kind and one another fish of another kind, She then told me that I had to by two of each because the one of the fish would be lonely, I told her I wasn't to concerned about the fishes feelings She then told me that she would sell me the fish , I then complained to the manager , The manager told me that that is the company policy, With that said, I will no longer be shopping at Petco, I will be shopping at a Mom and Pop store, When a large store tries to tell me how to feel about fish Feelings I will take my business some where else. read more

We recently purchased a bearded dragon here. I just called and told the lady that answered that our baby wasn't eating and instead of saying she had no clue what she was talking about. She should have asked an associate with better knowledge. Not say it's time for a Vet visit! $&@"ing stupid response, from someone without any knowledge of the subject. Know your limitations and ask for help from your partners if you can't help a customer. Not just PUNT! Pass the buck or whatever! Sammy you get a 1 star!!! If I could put 0stars I would. The experience I had at this petco was literally horrible. I've visited this pet o multiple times and every time I've been greeted with negativity and a condescending attitude. Their customer service is aweful and they definitely don't put giving the animals a good home first. If you're able I would recommend going to ANY other location than this one. If I could give no stars, I would! I called to set up a grooming appt for my dog for this Sunday. Keep in mind, I live out of the state. I spoke to a girl (forgot her name) and I had asked how much it would be. She said it would be $55 plus a $5 material fee. I asked what is a material fee. She said it's like the shampoo and tax. I asked, well what is the $55 for if you are adding a material fee? She really couldn't clarify my question so she kept putting me on hold while I was asking her questions and her manager in the grooming dept named Amy got on the phone with an attitude and rude af. I asked her about the material fee since I've never heard of that before and the girl before didn't know the difference between "taxes and materials". Amy, said the material fee was for shampoo and trimmers. Then I asked what is the $55 I'm paying for then? Isn't the "material fee" included in the price? She literally was talking over me and yelling and I literally asked her to shut up so I can finish on what I am saying, then the bitch said in a rude condescending way, "speak then". I asked her what the $55 is for then since I'm paying for the groom and bath...and again she cut me off and I couldn't finish and was talking over me and yelling and not listening, then she had the audacity to tell me that I can't come to that petco to get my dog groomed and she pretty much was trying to 86 me and I told her FU B and hung up. I called back to talk to the store manager, Amy's boss and complaint. I forgot what the store manager name was but I know it started with a "J". Lol but she clarified my question and apologized for her rude Karen like employee. The store manager was very nice, listened to my concern and said she would have a discussion with Amy. How about you fire AMY! Amy is lucky I don't live in Vegas cause I would have drove down there and really gave her a piece of my mind to her face. Don't take your dog to this grooming salon. I took my recent rescue today for his first haircut. He is a yorkie-poo and I wanted him shaved off so he could regrow a nice curly coat. The staff who worked on him barely did anything. His face wasn't touched, ears were trimmed a tiny bit, inside his ears weren't touched, nails weren't trimmed or grinded at all, tail and his belly were untouched. I was still charged 56 dollars even though nothing I asked was done. I brought him to petsmart couple days ago for a nail grind and they were able to do it. The staff at petco just told me that he was a lot of work and screamed. I trimmed his facial hair 2 times since I got him a week ago with no problem, so why couldn't they? They warned me that they wouldn't force anything on animals so they won't be traumatized, but charging me for a full groom just sounds too ridiculous. I asked for short hair, and they did not do it because he's too skinny and his bones would be visible. But I asked for it so I could grow a nice coat back. It's just unbelievable. They told me to bring him in next month so they could keep working on him. They even pushed an upgrade that would cost 78 dollars after I said "no" 3 times. This is just for someone named Sammy. I come here often and usually the employees are great. This time I came for crickets and the Sammy lady was just ridiculously rude for some reason? She pages someone else to get them without saying anything to me and turned her back to me immediately. I asked if they would be at the register or....? She looked at me, didn't say anything and turned away again and muttered under her breath... "what?" "Yeah!" She said with attitude. I tried to ask for help with fish too because I wanted to buy a couple snails, but I couldn't get one word out before she actually yelled "I TOLD YOU THEYLL BE UP FRONT". Once upon a time, I had 2 chihuahuas, 2 cats, 5 chickens and a baby pot bellied pig - at the same time. Well, thank God I was more than willing to let my ex have them because they are EXPENSIVE on the upkeep and chain you to your house, should you want to go on vacation. I"m definitely not a pet person after that life experience. That said, I never understood why my mom was so hip on getting fish for my younger brother and sister. They're not a low maintenance pet, at least ours aren't! Well, after a long time, Chompy, one of our male betas died, and the females had died about a month or two ago, so my mom wanted to go get more fish. She isn't as crazy about the pet shop by Trader Joe's (it smells) so we were off to Petsmart yesterday (1/1/12) to buy some more female betas and sucker fish. I wasn't impressed with their dog section (but I never am, I like the boutique stuff that drives prices of ownership through the roof.) but their fish section is fine enough. I always like to go check out the lizards and frogs when I'm there. If you have simple fish, this place is fine, but don't expect anything fancy. The staff is really nice, friendly and helpful which is always a plus! read more

I, like the dozens of other reviews i have read on here, had an issue with the "manager" Sammi, along with her co-manager, Sam. I went in to buy a crested gecko. I was standing by the reptiles for about 5 minutes when I went up to one of the employees, which was Sam and said "When you get a chance can I please look at the geckos?" To which she replied, "Uh sure. Give me a minute." I then went back to the geckos and waited for about 10 minutes when no one showed up to help. I went up to male worker and said "Hi, can i please have someone help me with the geckos?" To which he replied, "Oh did she forget about you?" That's when I was met by the blonde female, Sammi. IMMEDIATELY i was met with an attitude from her. I asked if i could see the geckos and very rudely she said, "I can force them to the front but I'm not taking them out for you." I then said "oh this one doesn't have a tail!" And very rudely yet again she said, "yeah. That's why we have a sign that says we're not perfect." Then she asked me if i have everything that i need to purchase the gecko. I said, "Yeah! I have my ID and everything, is there anything more that i need?" And with EXTREME attitude she replied, "NO. I mean do you have a set up for the reptile. It's our job here to educate people on the reptiles they're buying from us." I explained to her that I have everything that I need and asked her not to speak so harshly and rudely to me. After continuing to question me, she stormed off and told me to get out of the store and that she was refusing to sell me to me. I have video evidence of how both her and Sam were treating me. In the video Sammi says "now you're instigating me to start a fight with you. I'm bigger than you, and older than you, and probably have kids your age." I am 25 years old and certainly did not appreciate being belittled by a customer service employee. In the video, Sammi also states "apparently i have mental illness!" To her co-manger Sam, Insinuating that I had said anything of that nature. Sam also refused to sell by me because she was "uncomfortable" With the situation. I tried explaining to her that i was uncomfortable with how I was being treated and how the employees of this store can act with complete unprofessionalism. I told both of the women that I am more than willing to be educated on the care of geckos without an attitude. They told me that crested geckos are not for beginners, even though there's a sign plastered on the tanks saying great for beginners. She as well continued to question me and refused my sale. I have contacted corporate and am absolutely mortified and disgusted with how these two women treat their customers. read more

I had the worse customer service and grooming experience ever today! My yorkie got groomed here today he came out looking like a schnauzer. Do not and I repeat do not bring your dog to see April at petco on serene/eastern. She got very defensive and mouthy when I asked her why she cut my dog the way she did. Today while waiting in line to check out we witnessed a man being extremely rude to an employee because Petco doesn't have a military discount. She was very patient and even ended up giving him a 10% discount just to try to appease him and get him out of the store. He was yelling and threatening to get her fired because he knows some higher up that always gives him a military discount. I'm sure the guy he knows gives him his discount but doesn't inform him that Petco doesn't have a military discount and not to expect it from other employees. I felt really bad for the girl waiting on him I could tell she was uncomfortable and just wanted out of the situation. She handled her self very well considering the circumstances and she has always been very polite and courteous when we come in. This petco has the worst grooming department in the state. It's ran and operated by a bunch of disrespectful young people who have no idea what customer service is. They change appointments multiple times then cancel an hour before. They have no regard for people's schedules and just push clients around like pieces on a game board. I just recently moved to Vegas and the Petco on blue diamond was the closest to me. After taking my two dogs here a couple times, the grooming department was kinda rude and I wasn't pleased with the service. I have two dogs a malti shi and a Havanese. I decided to try a different Petco, I was honestly going to give up the whole Petco experience and take my business elsewhere. I called the Petco on Serene and was pleasantly surprised with how friendly the staff was when I called. They were able to get me in immediately. When I arrived Austi was the lady who greeted me and did consultation. She was so thorough with a great personality and my dogs loved her. I felt a lot more comfortable here. When they were done I had a friend of mine pick them up for me and called to notify them it would be someone else picking them up. Austi gave me a run down of both dogs what she did and how well behaved they were. Austi, she is so sweet and you can tell has a love and passion for animals that I never felt going to other store location. To sum it up I will only take my dogs here from now on and they look so cute. Thanks Austi and team for making it such a great experience. You and your staff are awesome!!!! read more

SUPER helpful. I came in with my dog looking for a life jacket and they were great. Let us try a few on, and the cashier even paged the groomer because he knew her dogs used life jackets and thought her opinion would matter. The groomer stopped everything to help my dog and I try on a few sizes. She also offered up a few tips. The cashier then pointed us to a section of toys he thought my dog would like based on what she was sniffing. We walked out very, very happy with the level of customer service. They could not have been more helpful or accommodating. We'll definitely make this our local store from now on. read more

I go to this Petco all the time and every time I have an interaction with Sammi (I usually only see her in the mornings) it has been awful. I have great interactions with everyone else and absolutely adore the Vet staff. However, Sammi truly just makes you feel belittled and uncomfortable. I had gone in to get some items to help treat swim bladder for one of my moms goldfish. I had done research and tried to make sure I was not missing anything. I approached Sammi while she was filling water bottles for some of the animals and she was immediately hostile. I explained the situation and even had my mom on facetime so we could show her goldfish if needed. Sammi stated "I don't know about fish, this isn't my department, but whatever you looked up is probably right so listen to that". I could tell she saw me as an inconvenience so I was immediately uncomfortable. While explaining to me that she knows "nothing" about fish, I had shown our goldfish which then lead into her scolding me and my mom. She stated "we clearly don't have a big enough tank (we have him in a smaller tank now for quarantine just incase), we don't keep them at the right temperature (we hadn't even had a chance to say what temperature the tank is), we dont clean enough as he has "ammonia burn NOT swim bladder". I also looked up the two possibilities and compared and my moms goldfish has the symptoms of swim bladder not ammonia burn. She also stated "goldfish can't get swim bladder, only betta fish can" which I am confused about cause I never saw anything that stated that and when I followed up with another employee they informed me that all fish can get it. I was very uncomfortable with how she kept belittling my mom and I yet repeatedly stated she didn't know anything about fish. I put back my items and eventually left as I wasn't comfortable buying something just yet when she clearly wanted me to feel incompetent. read more

Lots of choices for everything. Its good for evaluating stuff like gates and creates. With snakes and dogs and fish I like being able to go to one place and get what I need. Even though prices seem higher some of the speciality stores are higher. They do dog training here and I even think you can get your dog trained as a service dog from this petco, not sure about the other ones. All in all it's a good dog store which they keep clean but the service could step it up a bit. read more
