petco is not my favorite place in the world. it isnt that clean and i always have the impression that it is messy and disorganized. maybe its because the sale bins in the front. a lot of times, maybe 5 times out of 10, i bought treats from here, they are infested with insects. i wouldnt say its all petcos fault. partly due to the manufacturer of course. but who knows. today i brought back dog food that my dog refused to eat. after vomitting for 6 days from it, i finally decided to bag the rest up and take it back. i was expecting some serious issues but the manager helping me was super gracious and friendly. i mean i had brought him dog food in a plastic bag and he went out of his way to look it up. in the end he gave me exchange credit and i got new food and my dog was happy. so im happy. read more

I just couldn't heed the warnings. Dog nail trims for $10, how could I resist? Maybe other Petco's are okay, but the grooming "salon" here was just plain bad. The girl who answered the phone had an attitude from the get. I could tell she's used to being on the defense. I wonder why. When I walk into the grooming salon waiting room, there is no one there to see me. All I can hear are the groomers in the back thinking no one can hear them talking loudly about petty gossip and cussing up a storm. I end up having to ask one of the sales associates to page them. The groomer's peak their heads out, clearly irritated that they've been interrupted and the attitude I got on the phone is here to greet me in person. Anyway, I do the whole killing her with kindness and she finally softens up. She takes my 19 lb. dog onto the grooming station, struggles like hell with him, I don't blame her, that's why I took him here, but she's complaining the whole time how difficult he is, how I should take him to a vet to be sedated, etc. He poops on the table out of nervousness, she looks at me, "He pooped." Lol, it's pretty funny now that I think about it. She's telling me as if my dog has now inconvenienced her beyond what she's paid to deal with. Anyway, she's able to barely cut the nails on his back feet, with about 3 or 4 bleeds. Yes, she cut 3 or 4 of them way too short. She clearly did not give a crap (although my dog did). She says the bleeding is normal but that she can't continue. She doesn't charge, but dismisses me and my dog. Here's the thing, outside of this Petco, there is a "Trained Groomers Wanted" sign. Meaning, the crappy ass groomers that are still there aren't going anywhere. They're desperate and I think these stupid young girls know it. Don't take your dog here. Really. Now onto writing a very good review for Westborough Pet Hospital. Who was able to finish cutting my dogs nails without sedating him, and without complaining to me. read more

I must say that my Petco experience has been great, especially in the dog grooming department. I've taken my dog, Papi, a Labradoodle to get his grooming needs there. Lisa is amazing as she has this knack with animals. Lisa reminds me to brush Papi so he will not get matted and messy. It's the little things that make a big difference. St. Francis of Assisi would be proud of her. And the other grooming staff member, Diane, is pleasant and very helpful. Papi is taken care of well there and I highly recommend it! read more

Petco, Pearl city, HI probably one of the worst if not the worst dog grooming services around. Groomers have attitudes. i will never go there ever! i got sick n cancelled my appointment with Jin . When i called to re-reschedule my dogs' appointment, Jin wasnt there so I made an appointment with a girl named Jo. Unfortunately I had to cancel that too due to work. When i called to book a grooming appointment, i asked for Jin, she was in. so i waited for her to come talk to me over the phone. She hung up. When i tried to call back, the phone just kept ringing. I called much later and I was told Jin would call me later as she was busy then. She didnt call back. I called another day to book an appt and spoke to a girl named Helen. When I gave my name and my dogs names, she uttered an "oh" and her tone changed. So I asked to talk to her supervisor and she rudely replied, i dont have a supervisor, I have a manager. I said i wanted to talk to her, and the phone just kept ringing for a long time. They need a lesson in customer service big time! read more

4 stars is for the GROOMING SALON: After a traumatizing experience over at the Serramonte Petco, I hesitantly took my maltese shih tzu Rufus to the Tanforan Petco, thanks to EurJean C.'s comforting review. Three awesome grooms later, I can confidently recommend Lisa, as can the other shih tzu owners who have complimented Rufus's haircuts. He's come out clean with a perfect puppy cut with rounded paws and face each time, and I can't even begin to imagine how she cut it so well since he hates it when I even brush him. This Petco actually calls you when your dog is done too, something that many other places neglect to do even when they say they will. One thing that I do wish for (but don't expect) them to do is let the pets out for a potty break. Rufus is potty-trained but more often than not he ends up peeing inside the store as soon as I return because he's been cooped up in there for most of the day. As for the rest of the store, it's a typical Petco. I prefer to get dog food over at Pet Express in Daly City. read more

On the 8th, I would have given this Petco a 4 because of the awesome customer service by Diego. So I decided to come back on the 9th and have my dog's nails clipped. I come in and the lady at the cash register was rude, about my dog not having his rabies shot (he's 4.5 mos. old!) then I go to the grooming and the girl gives me attitude. Rude rude rude. She says, "breed: chihuawa ( I said actually, chiwee (chihuaha/dashund) She clips his nails, and I get him back and their even sharper than before. I was credited the $10 but I never want to go back to this location again. The Petco near SF State is great and so is Petfood Express in Alameda. No more San Bruno Petco. Diego left a great impression on me and the next day I had the opposite experience with the other staff. read more

I took my young dog here for grooming and nail trimming. It was his second trip here. This is the only place that trims his nails by grinding them down, not just clipping them. They are shorter and smoother when finished. It costs $5.00 more, but, worth it. His bath, hair trim, toothbrushing, and ear cleaning, made him look and smell great. read more

If you don't have a PALS card make sure you sign up for one and save some $$$! I would recommend comparing prices with Pet Club because their prices are sometimes better. Petco also has great all-natural products for dogs as well. read more

I have taken my Maltipoo Amber here for grooming every three months since I've had her (about three years now). She, as I'm sure most animals are, is terrified of getting groomed. Yesterday, I took her for her appointment and got the same package that I have gotten her every time we go. They told me four hours maximum which is normal but never have they used the entire four hours. About three and a half hours later, I called to check if she would be done soon and the person on the phone said that it had not been four hours and that the person working on my pet was "on break" and he couldn't check how far along her progress was. A hour later, now we are at 4 and 1/2 hours, I call again. At this point I am thoroughly annoyed with the fact that they have not only gone over the time they quoted, but were unapologetic about it. During this phone call they said that the person working on my pet was still working and needed half an hour to finish. My response: "Okay, I'll be there in half an hour, I hope she's done by then." Petco's Response: *Hangs up phone* At this point I have already made the decision to NEVER use this location's grooming service again, but what happens next sealed the deal for this review... I get there half an hour later as they said she'd be done at that time and to my surprise, she is still being worked on. Of course when my dog notices I am there she starts to struggle and give the groomer a hard time so I step outside and browse the store.....for 45min. I should mention that the staff at the Petco store were very polite, helpful, and kind, I give credit where credit is due. But after killing 45 minutes in the store, I re-enter the grooming station, STILL NOT DONE. This time the groomer is struggling to get bows on my dog which I tell her is not necessary. Then she attempts to try to paint my dog's nails, which I also tell her is not necessary, as I am trying to get out of there to carry on my evening plans. So, not only did they take almost TWO HOURS over the time they quoted me, but I did not get all of the services I requested, AND I was treated rudely, AND to top it all off, they charged me $87 for a Half assed job! I have NEVER paid this much for her grooming and got all of the same service I normally get. The groomer and manager were completely unresponsive to my feedback and did not take ANY accountability for the fact that they were wrong! I will never return to this location and will tell anyone who asks about this location what horrific service they provide. SORRY FOR THE ESSAY BUT I HAD TO VENT. read more

Went there twice to shop for fish. Ed is super helpful both at the cashier, aquarium, or any department he may be. I can tell there's a strong sense of teamwork among the staff as they make customers feel welcomed, paid attention to, and helped. Mike at the aquarium department, you can tell, has a passion for fish care. He's quite the expert and gives generous advice on fish care and the science behind it. One star off for pricing on fish care items though, they almost double the price of the same item in Amazon. Would come back here again for excellent customer service and staff's genuine concern for the well being of their fish. Thank you, Petco! read more

It's Petco, pretty standard. It's super close to my house and sells pet things. I have a dog and a chinchilla so I'm here pretty regularly. The prices are standard, sometimes I'll buy the dog food at Target which is also in this mall, depends on what else I need to get. I've brought the mutt in here for grooming as well. I've had a mixed experience. The first time I went, everything was fine, they seemed to take a while, but nothing major. They did call to tell me he had fleas, and did a special wash for that, which cost more, so I'm glad they called first to check. The second time was pretty bad though. I called to make an appointment about a week ahead of time. The morning of the appointment, I get a call saying that they need to reschedule because the groomer didn't come in. I was really annoyed, but figured what can they do about it, so I rescheduled while still on the phone for the next day. When I finally brought the furball in, they tell me that they'll call when he's done, but it should be 2 hours. I went about my day waiting for the call.... 3 hours later I call them to check, they said they need another hour. An hour later and no call, so I call again, they said 1 more hour. When I ask why it's taking so much longer then they told me it would, I don't get a very concrete answer, and no apology. Besides the fact that I'm stuck not leaving a 10 minute radius for the better part of the day, this bothered me because I would prefer to have the pup either with me or in the freedom of his house rather than some random cage at the groomers all day. Anyways, I finally picked him up and all was fine. I'm just pretty turned off by their customer service. read more

For they second time, my dog grooming appointment did not exist. I was furious. My wife and I personally went. Not the store last Saturday and made the second appointment. When I went today with the necessary paperwork requested by them, the clerk said I did not have an appointment! And they were booked for the day. She implied that I had not made an appointment or it would have been there. Her remarks were laying blame on me and my wife. She infuriated me. What do I have to do to get an appointment there? Of course, there was no Manager there. It was all typical corporate I could care less, it's only a job crap I received. What a joke. I will never buy another thing from that store or schedule another appointment with their groomers until I receive satisfaction for my time (I waited the entire day for this 3:00 appt), trip there and back, and another high blood pressure attack. Their schedule system or employees or whatever is a total failure. I will spend my money elsewhere where I'll be treated well and suggest others do the same. I thought we were taking my doggy to get groomed, not scared for life! My little JT went in for only a grooming without any cuttting to be done. But like in soo many other situations, people do not pay attention to their job and so the saga began. We pick the little guy up and whata ya know, they cut him and he now has a small boo boo, the start to a never ending story that all began with a day at Petco. I will not bore you with the rest of the story cause he is on the getting better track now, but all of this could have been prevented if the job was done correctly in the first place. I went to this location of Petco for the first time last week. I had to go there because it's the only place that sells the liners for the litter house I have for my cats. In any case, the store itself is a normal Petco, but the cashier that waited on me was ridiculous. It took him 5 minutes to count 68 cents in order to give me change. I would expect that someone who works at a cash register would be able to make change, but I was disappointed to find out that was not the case here. I hope it was an isolated incident because I will be needing to go back. read more

Although service can be a bit on the slower side, I have to give it up for the Tanforan Petco. They were one of the better Petcos I've been to. Jasmine, an employee at the grooming center, is by far the best person we have ever had take care of our Mr. Sprinkles. He was so nervous going in for the first time and afterwards, each time we take him, he gets so excited walking in the door. She is so caring and wonderful with him. He spent so much time with my 3 year old and I making recommendations for our first fish tank. I believe he is studying to be a vet. He sure is knowledgeable! I've been to PETCO in Colma and the service was much more professional towards the customer as well as treating my dog more sensitively than the PETCO at San Bruno. Service was despicable. 4-5 hour wait for grooming even though I had scheduled an appointment? When I walked in, they looked frazzled and short-handed. They also mis-managed my dog - put her in a kennel after she was done and found her later wet because the upper kennel was leaking water. !? What type of facilities do they have? AND they lost my doctor prescribed shampoo. They also gave me a hard time putting ear medicine on my cocker...this is typical ear medicine for a droopy-ear breed. The Colma location never had a problem with putting medicine on my dog. I've never had such experience at Colma. I will never go back to San Bruno again. Just looked at my receipt and realized they overcharged me!! read more

Adrianna was super polite and did a fantastic job grooming my pup! She was very helpful and kind. My dog really liked her and she was very detailed with her work. She even made me aware of the extra discounts for the first time grooming! The only negatives were the timing was a bit longer than expected about 3 hours, and the store was a little smelly. Four stars only because it's hard to find anybody to help you, but once you do, they are SUPER helpful. The store manager helped me once (can't remember his name, unfortunately) and he is awesome - super sweet, listens to everything you're concerned about, and helps you make an informed decision. Perfect customer service. The rest of the staff are very willing to help, but you will most likely have to wait a few minutes - not a big deal, it just seems odd because part of the time it's not due to helping another customer, you'll have to wait because they're reorganizing or putting stock out. Struck me as funny that when you do find one (and it is difficult, I had customs approach me asking for help not knowing I didn't work there), they're a bit overwhelmed with store functions. Overall, it's worth the wait - they're super sweet and helpful, even though a lot of the customers I've seen in there can be really rude. read more

I took my Schnauzer for a bath and haircut, terrible! after pay they gave me my dog smelling like strawberry(wich is good), but thats it... the hair was a mess, looks the same but with some holes on his hair, i dont really think they even gave him a shower, the hair was the same... really bas service, they dont know what are they doing. read more

This is Princess Mimi's favorite place! She prances through the automatic doors and heads straight to the...cat food! Go figure. I can usually steer her back to the doggie area with a quick trip by the birds and mice. She eventually selects something from the rawhide bar and chomps happily for the rest of the visit. Staff is always helpful, sweet, and dispenses cookies, unprompted. read more

I typically go here to refill my cat's liter as well buy her some treats. The employees are very helpful. I haven't had any issues. I purchased an item, litter box liners which was too small. I was able to return the item and get the right size item I needed for my cat's liter box. The staff comes up to me to ask if I need help and when I need the help, the staff is very responsive. Since it is by Sears and part of the mall, the parking can get full very quickly. Again another place I have to go there when they first open in order to get a good parking spot. I don't mind walking but the liter is heavy to carry when I park far away. read more

I recommend this location for whatever you need.
