I brought Odin back after a couple of years due to me moving. It seems Odin still remembered his last visit because he happily walked in and seemed very excited to be there. He was taken to the back where he happily walked along the groomer. Upon pick up Odin was a brand new dog! He was nice and white, soft and smelled amazing. Prior to his grooming he was shedding a lot. I paid for the super plus package so he can get the shedding service. I noticed the difference right away. I really like that now they give report cards after service! It made me feel good that the groomer Nayeli, wrote a cute little note on how sweet Odin was since Odin often gets mistaken to be "aggressive" just for his looks which has made it hard to find a groomer in the city I moved to. Once I took him home, Odin was feeling great. I think he also must have realized how stunning he looked. He really felt like a king. Thank you Nayeli! You made his day! read more

As a first time dog owner, I was really nervous to get my puppy groomed. His hair is hard to describe (he is a mixed breed) and I was not sure how he would react to having a puppy bath. Making an appointment over the phone was quick and easy. Parking was also easy to find. When I arrived I was greeted by Elaina who was also my dog's groomer. She was informative, friendly, and calmed my nerves right away once I saw my dog wagging his tail when he met her. She provided me a lot of positive feedback about his experience when I picked him up and I was very happy with the results. Brought him in a second time for a full body trim and although Elaina cut his hair shorter than I requested (she admitted before I noticed), the hair is growing back nicely. I understand accidents happen and appreciated her telling me right away. The fact that my puppy is comfortable with her is more important to me, so we will definitely be back again soon! read more

I took my 2yr old shorthaired boxer mix to Tully Rd SJ Petco Sat morning for a shampoo and brushing to deshed. I was told if she got difficult they would stop and call me. I was told it would take approximately 2 21/2 hrs. I waited and after an hour went back in to check and was told she was struggling and almost strangled herself pulling on leash and her tongue was turning blue! Why would they wait to release her?! They had her in back drying. I told them I wanted her NOW. When I got home I see her neck and chin have raw marks as if they possibly used a comb with blade, the bottom of her chin has cuts and her back leg has a cut.. I will never take her back!!!! Im honestly super upset. So I bring my dog in for the grooming services. They tell me it takes 3 hrs and they would call me. Once i get there to pick up my dog her hair looks horrible. They literally cut her hair so bad my dog was traumatized. She had patches of long hair and short hair. Her neck was cut up so bad!! I dont even know what they did to her. I seriously think that the groomer "neil" or "neo" was not experienced and she had the audacity to tell me that those type of dogs shouldn't have their hair cut. Grooming review:::: my father took my German Shepard/ Belgium Malinois to get groomed abs it was roughly around $85 or so and I father was not happy with the services. He said they didn't clean him well enough. He was still kinda dirty and he preferred not to take him back. My dog is pretty big for being 6months and I mean we were in no rush to get him back we prefer him clean than have him back right away. Holy Moly. So I am a fish keeper. Awhile back when I came here to restock my tank, they're selections of fish were pretty good and the tanks were kept quite clean, was even able to get a chance to talk to the worker that manned the area and he sounded like he cared for the quality of the fish and how the tanks condition was in. (quite some time back, almost a year) Now, fast forward to what it was last week when I dropped by. Man, I was blown away at how bad things has got. I'd say 90% of the tanks were riddled with algea, blacked out tanks for who knows what and there were alot of dead fish in the tanks! I seriously felt bad for all of the fish that they had in stock, made me want to actually want to just rescue them but I can't jeopardize my own stocks at home. Who knows what possible illness would arise from being in the condition they were in. Just sad. read more

I have gone to this Petco location for almost 5 years. After COVID they got what seems like a lot of new staff members. I have had bad experiences with one specific younger girl cashier, her name starts with an N. Just rude, snarky, and not very friendly. My issues with this Petco location is with the grooming department. I used to love this groomer named Lacey that worked there but she no long does. The groomer you SHOULDN'T ever go to is Michael. He also refused to groom my maltipoo when my mom dropped her off because her rabies was experienced. When it didn't expire for another 2 months. When my mom brought it up to a supervisor he was wasn't apologetic he just took my dog and groomed her. I remember calling to book an appointment couple months late and he was the one that answered. I said specifically any groomer by Michael and he told me yes your groomer is someone else. (He told me a name of a girl but I can't think of it) I show up that day and he groomed my dog instead. He also cut my dog on the lower back and tried to hide it from me. Sloppy work, I can always tell when a groomer was nice to my dog because they come home happy. Maybe it was cause i called her right when it was open but i didnt like the unfriendly guidance while she was adding me to the booking appointments. Update: I went to the appointment today @230 and it took them till 6:00pm for both of my dogs to be done. (Approximately 5hrs) the bill for both dogs is 110$ but when I call ahead of time and ask them about the price for my dogs. It didnt match to the bill that was given today. False information was given to me. I give props to Elainla for keeping my dogs clean and nails trim but other than that hair trimming needs work for my shepard dog. read more

I just witnessed being in the line at the cashier a girl having issues with her debit card and they're doing everything possible to make sure that they try to help her which is good, BUT the guy gives her advice to do credit so if you're doing credit on a debit card, you better check the ID there's a lot of fraud going on a lot lately and for them to just go and try to help this girl out because she doesn't know the pin number or she's having issues with her bank account. I asked Jacob the guy who open the bathroom ! I was like well you know Jacob I hope you check her ID for doing credit and his answer was like why does that bother you i told him ! I do not recommend the grooming services. I was about to drop off my dog and they said it would take 4 hours. Why would they have me scheduled at the time they did then? This review is for the Petco Grooming Services. I came here to bring in my Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix for a haircut. I called one day before and set up the appointment time at 12:30PM on a Sunday. When I arrived with my dog, I was greeted by a female groomer who seemed unexperienced with grooming. I showed her a photo of my dog (after he got a haircut from a different place) for her to see the length that I wanted it to be cut - and she said she couldn't tell from the photo how short his hair would be. After that I settled it with showing her on the digram which one she should try to do and told her to trim his tail, and ears as well. She said the time to be 3 hours for pickup. After waiting 4 hours, I called in and asked where my dog was and if he was ready for pick up. She answered the phone and postponed it by 1 more hour because my dog had peed and pooed himself and she had not even started his haircut yet because she had to wash him again!! *STILL, thanks for the update...(sarcastic tone)*. Anyways, she seemed to be really inexperienced and nonchalant about the whole situation... When I got my dog back, I saw that his tail wasn't even groomed and she did a very bad job on his head. It literally looked like she only shaved down his body.... Honestly not worth the bad service and 5 hour wait. I gotta tell ya', only come to this place if you REALLY love your pet. The prices are OUTRAGEOUS! If you want to buy dog food or cat food. STICK TO COSTCO! As for me personally, I love visiting pet shops to see all the colorful, tropical fish and the little cute dwarf hamsters running amuck on their wheels. It's amusing to coo at the parrot who talks back at you. However, I get disappointed eighty percent of the time because they HARDLY restock on the dwarf hamsters! Also, they keep their poor chinchilla in such a cramped space! Overall, Petco is below average for their unreasonable prices and for the way they treat their poor chinchillas! read more

1 STAR FOR THE GROOMING SERVICES My dog is banned from this Petco because of his "anxiety". I've brought him to Pet smart at the Plant and other groomers and yes they did say he got anxious but it was manageable. There are records at the other Petco saying he was being a good boy. I think the female groomer (I think her name is Alma?) here needs to be trained better. Her vibe when we first went in was already super low like she hated her job. Went there today to buy fish. The employee was helping someone before, if you are a fish person you understand that takes time . So I patiently wait , the pet on employee was passing in front and going around me to get fish for the other person. When he was done another person walks up and he immediately began to help that person !!! I could not believe it !! Reviewing based on aquatic section of the store: Simply, the shelves are pretty bare and have a poor selection. Many boxes are torn open and disorganized. Fish tanks are mostly filthy!!! So many of them have thick algae scum on the glass and haven't been scrubbed in ages. Most of them are empty tanks anyways, probably because they are inhospitable to any living creatures. Also the selection and number of fish per tank is disappointing though there are a few unique options in species. More sick betta than I've seen in awhile despite how few they carry. Most of their live plants are browning or have rotted. Was going to buy fish from here but seeing the conditions totally scared me away. Was going to buy supplies but there's hardly anything available anyways! read more

We took our Bichon to get her groomed at Petco groomers. We gave the groomers very very accurate details on what we wanted and how we wanted our Bichon to have her hair trimmed like a Bichon Frise should be done. We even showed pictures of what she should look like for reference. We picked up our Bichon and she was botched so bad so looked like a poodle on crack and then to add insult to injury they said our dog is a Maltese not a Bichon I'm like really so you go do her hair like a Maltese just because that's what you think or assume Petco employees. My dog was the runt of the puppies and she a small Bichon Frise and I have papers for her with campion bloodline. I wouldn't recommend this place at all so disappointed and now we have to wait for my dogs hair to grow out so she can get her hair fixed.if I could give them a -1 star I would read more

The parking during that time of day (early Saturday afternoon) was not a problem though in the same plaza as Food 4 Less, Jollibee, and a few other eateries and coffee shops. The products appear to be stocked and organized, well-lit store. Cons: no shopping carts, there was nobody at the front/register; we could have walked out w/ our gigantic bag of dog food and more if we wanted to. This review is only for MITZY C in the GROOMING Dept. She was awesome! I have a 2 year old Chihuahua mix who doesn't like getting her nails trimmed. We came here before and our girl needed 3 employees to hold her down and we were charged an extra handling fee. Not with Mitzy!, She did the trimming all by herself. My dog Belle got her nails did here! I think she enjoyed it... she got the full treatment for $20. It wasn't bad considering it was the first time she got her nails professionally trimmed. They were like claws!! $10 for a nail trim and an additional $10 if you would like her paws and elbows waxed and nail polish. Service was great but the wait time was about an hour but it felt even longer because wth am I suppose to do in a pet store in in that plaza? That's my only complaint. Overall, very satisfied! She'll come back again but maybe we can skip the polish and wax because the wax itself is $10 and would be longer lasting. read more

Wish I could rate them ZERO stars. I called in advance to the store so that I didn't have to drive 20+mins out of my way. The first sign of bad service was when it took 5mins to pic k up the phone. The second was when they said they had what I was looking for and LAUGHED when I asked if they could set it aside for me because according to them the item I was looking for doesn't sell that fast. So, I drive there trying to beat traffic only to get there and the item I'm looking for ISN'T THERE! They never had any in stock. The person I had talked to was either too busy or lazy to check and LIED to me that it was. They couldn't have been busy because when i got there, there where 2 other people restocking shelves. Came here earlier in the day to buy the dogs a few toys (which the American bull dog has already demolished) and as I walked in I was already greeted with "Hello, how are you doing today?" and proceeded to browse more until I ran into the manager. He came upon me and asked me if I was finding everything alright and he showed me the clearance toys. I then asked him if there were any other toys besides clearance and he walked me towards the the aisle which included them. Friendly staff members. But the -1 Star was because I was waiting near the register for about 3 minutes by myself and while I was waiting there was a 3rd employee who was organizing the toys up front and didn't bother to help me. After I made couple eye contacts and smiled at her; she then approached me and asked if I was ready and I nodded my head and give a response of "Yes, I've been waiting." Overall, this Petco is clean and organized. There are cute guinea pigs as well. Usually there's some type of scent to Petco that I usually can smell, but this store I couldn't smell that particular scent. Came in with our new puppy for a shopping trip. The store was clean and quiet which made shopping so much more enjoyable. It was a Friday night too. We definitely loved their clearance section. They have fun toys for your pet for under $5. A great overall selection of everything. When checking out the lady said let me get you a coupon. But then said that they ran out. Thought nothing of it. That experience would be 3.5 stars. Our purchase was over $150 when we walked out and she was very pleasant, not sure if it was just the day and time or if she lacked that much personality or didn't want to be there. I received an email coupon for $5 and came back on Monday. Walking in with my puppy on the leash I was instantly greeted by Lyndsay. My puppy liked her so much she twiddled. Lyndsay told me not to worry about it she would clean it up and she give my puppy a treat. Then Rc came up to us and asked if my puppy was a "Cane Corso" which is rare because they are called Italian mastiffs by the everyday person. But always are asked if its a blue nose pit. Cane Corso is the correct AKC breed. He had a worth of knowledge and experience. Turns out he is the head of the dog training there. My puppy will be easily 100pounds and isn't full grown till 3 years old. Which makes proper handling and training to walk my dog was important to me. He took his time explaining the difference from the different brands and design. He made sure the harness was the correct fit and showed me how to correctly use it. Upon check out there was a little confusion on the $5 coupon I was emailed. Lyndsay was very patient and listened to me. That's when she told me about the puppy package coupon book. Great booklet and I saved 20% off my total purchase. They also price match items which saved me another $5. Thank you Lyndsay for your awesome customer service. The store manger Nannette came over after I paid to make sure everything was ok because of the $5 coupon confusion. Her customer service skills and Managing approach were very accommodating and showed she cares about her employees and the customers satisfaction. These 3 employees literally changed my 3 star experience into a 5 star review! I was back again today with a new $5 coupon and another price match situation. Once again Nannette was there and delivered excellent customer service! With all these coupons and rewards I will be back again. The store is 15 minutes from my house but worth the drive. I asked him for help with a dog item, but he did the opposite of helping me. Not only that but he noticed that there was a long line at the register when he walked by to grab something, but he simply walked away without opening a second register. Finally, a customer in line had the courage to tell him if he can open a second register. Also, I don't think it's appropriate to have baggy pants while you're working.
