I have gone to the Pet Club on Snell for many years and have recommended it because of the its prices. It's like a Marshalls for pet food/pet supplies. Come here first then get what they don't have somewhere else. It often has (or beats) Amazon prices. It's a little scruffy looking at this location and it may not have everything you're looking for but it's okay. Feels local. I recognize the people who work here. Pet the Upper Hand I can't believe I've been shopping here at Pet Club (PC) for over seven years now and still haven't written them a review. Well here goes: The Good: *This place is HUGE! Probably one of the biggest pet stores in the area and it's literally wall-to-wall stuff--a lot of other pet stores are big but they're full of nonsense. This is just straight stuff. Kinda reminds me of the Costco for animals. If you want it then they most-likely got it. *I really only come here for two things: they have the best price on Everclean® cat litter which is by-far the best litter on the market. Currently they're selling it for $14/25lb box but other stores sell it for +$20/25lb box. #notanad *Food prices are terrific and less expensive than Amazon and/or the big box stores--but you might be able to save money by using Amazon's subscribe-&-save program. Do your homework. *They host a lot of local animal rescue organizations adoption fairs. You can also make/purchase food donations at the register to help out local charities. *They host a VIP Pet Clinic every Sat 1-2:30 p.m. which a good, inexpensive way to get your cat/dog their shots. The Meh: *PC doesn't have a whole lot of employees (Probably how they keep prices low) so finding someone to help can be nearly impossible. The Ugly: *The fish tanks aren't always the cleanest around... =X TLDR: PC is a local chain of pet stores with eleven locations throughout the Bay Area that sells pet stuff for a really good price. I love to go to pet stores to see the animals with my daughter and so we went straight to the fish to the left of the store and the tanks were filthy. I'm not a fish expert but I'm pretty sure the tank should not be brown, I get they have a lot of tanks and they probably just haven't gotten the cleaned yet but these were disgusting to the point you couldn't even see the fish behind the glass. Because of that we walked more towards the back on the left following the fish tanks. We realized in the back left they had mice and rats. Now rats don't gross me out in fact I think they could make a cool first pet but what we saw were tanks upon tanks of rats some grown adults and some BABIES. There were full grown hefty rats along with palm size rats and then babies the size of my pinky in one cage. But that's not even the worst part, I saw 4-5 rats of all sizes fighting and jumping on one another trying to get at something. At first I thought it was food but when I looked closer THEY WERE EATING EACH OTHER! A full grown rat tackled a palm size rat and they both were tug-of-war a newborn rat like a meal. Solid prices, I really appreciate the pet clinic on Saturdays. Associates are nice, if a little bored being there, but great people nonetheless. However, the store always smells funky and has been getting increasingly stinkier each time I come back for 5 years. If management is reading this review, please learn how to de-stink the store. The good: I like that they carry a lot of brands of cat/dog food that you cannot find at Target, Pet Smart or Pet Smart. The selection is great and included brands I've never seen before. I was able to get some cat grass here for $3 that my cat loves. They also have many discounts at around 10-20% off. There is plenty of parking here. The plaza looks older and isn't very busy. I saw some cute cat trees here that I've never seen at other pet stores (including a very cute flower petal one). They also have a pretty big refrigerator section for fresher/cold pet foods. The bad: The bathroom was out of order (very bad for my pregnant bladder). The cashier also said there was a dog/cat sale section in the back right corner but I went there and didn't see it. I dropped in today to pick up some dog food and the store wasn't too busy on a Saturday. I was looking in the aisles and one of the staff members asked if I needed any help. I was just about to make my selection so I told him I didn't need any help. During check out, I saw the same staff member again and he was super nice and helpful. I just moved here and was super excited to see a pet store nearby. Nope, entered with a n95 respirator and was still so overwhelmed by the smell of PURE PISS that I had to leave. I have been to a lot of pet stores across the bay area and this was probably the worst one I have ever been to. I think they violate many health codes and would be shut down upon any inspection. When you first walk in you will be overwhelmed with the smell of urine. The floors are completely stained and dirty. The fish area smells terrible and is unkempt with boxes of trash laying around. Half the tanks are empty or taped over with cardboard. There are piles of random trash and products scattered about the store. Customer service wasn't particularly friendly. Upon exit I asked the cashier which was the way to the exit and she confirmed the direction i was pointing in. The door did not work so I said ,"excuse me, this door isn't opening" and she replied "yeah it doesn't work" which would have been very useful information when I asked where the exit was lol i guess if you know what you want to buy and it's cheaper than other places then it'd make sense to come here. We drove a couple miles down blossom hill to petsmart and it was a much cleaner and more pleasant experience. read more

Came here yesterday with my brother to check it out since my aunt recommended this place. When I first arrived it wasn't hard to find parking since its a big parking lot. Walking in there's a scale where you can weigh your puppy-dog which I like. Walked aisle through aisle the first 3-4 aisles were 70% empty. The leash asile barely had any leashes and collar. The fish tanks seems filthy and hasn't been maintained. Poor fishies! The register girl also seemed like she hated her job at first, but after breaking the ice and talking to her she wasn't rude or unprofessional. (Mind you- cashiers/clerks are human being too. They're like customers who have feelings & things they go through. Not just customers. Sometimes us customers just needs to break the ice instead of giving them back the same look/demeanor.) I was actually comparing the prices here since some said it was cheaper. It's actually 50/50. Some prices are jacked and some prices are ~$7 less the most. *When you come here and is here for the more affordable items of yours be sure to price check on your phone* They have a selection of dog beds, but 2/20 (20 estimated #) beds they have is super thin. If your fur baby were to lay on it- it would go flat real quick. There is no support. I felt every single one as I was looking for a more padded orthopedic bed for my fur baby. I have been shopping here for years, so they must be doing something right. The place is huge, has ample parking, and pre-covid, was well stocked. The supply chain shows signs of (FINALLY!) becoming restored, so goods are becoming more ample. As far as prices, Pet Club is usually able to beat Petco and PetSmart. Pet supplies (especially toys!) are notoriously overpriced industry wide. You just KNOW that $4.99 catnip stuffed mouse costs like, 2 cents per ton to manufacture. PC tho, seems a little bit less egregious in their pricing. Fish: I gave up on trying to keep tropical fish. Once in awhile tho, I will walk thru PC's section. It is an island of "Sad." The aisles are laid out kinda wAcKy in a few places. It's like: Cat/Dog Cat Dog Cat Make up your mind! Don't know whether to meow or bark! (Just kidding tho - t'ain't no big thing). Finally....the employees. Funny thing. Most of the female employees are fine to great. A couple of the dudes tho... I think need to find a donor list for a personality transplant! I love getting my live feed here for reptiles. The staff is usually very friendly. Hours are always correct and the prices are cheap! Went to get a dog crate for my new puppy. The crates were stained with a sticky yellow substance which I assume was animal pee because of the smell. There were also small droplets of poop on them and dirty smear marks all over them. It was completely disgusting and I left immediately after seeing this. A literal health hazard and this establishment would fail an inspection badly. read more

this is a warning to your pets I bought food from here and it had a few holes with tape on it when I was in the store to perches it I didn't see the tap at first but when I got home I noticed that it had a few taped whole when I went and looked closely it looked like rat holes cover up so l went to the store again to try and return it but when I got there I noticed how there was rat poop everywhere and it smelled horrible then trying to find an employee to help me l walked around the alíes i found some rat trap just laying around then I saw the back room and it was full of just dead rats on what it looked like glue traps it was a horrible experience please don't bring your animals here or feed the food from there a lot of rats carry diseases that can be in those tape bags so please be careful read more

They have real pretty pet quality feeder rats. $4.99. If I had known and seen this rat I would not have bought it as a feeder rat. Next time I'm going to be sure it's a frozen rat that was humanly euthanized. Hopefully there won't be a next time because this snake has to go. Not ok. read more

Amazing staff, reasonable prices, & absolutely anything & everything you could need as first-time pet owners. Dogs & cats? Low-cost vaccinations, food & supplies for your fur babies. Bunbies, birds, fish, reptiles? Almost literally every companion animal is able to be cared for with their affordable & high quality products! I definitely recommend doing your research before stocking up on your supplies, though. Dogs/cats: research your food products. The cheap food that comes in bulk are great for the feral cats outside that find their nutritional needs elsewhere & also don't survive half as long as the domestic kitties, anyways...but some of the ingredients that are found in those foods can cause cancer, kidney/dental diseases, & general health issues. Sand can be safe for adult reptiles, but not recommend for babies as it may cause impaction in their bellies... you won't know when they're sick until it's too late. Live rodents? Perfect if you're nursing a wild snake/large lizard back to health & monitoring the process or killing/injuring the poor animal before feeding. If you've read this far, you're already better than half of the pet parents I met while working at Petco & Andy's Pet Shop. Often times people don't want to do their own research, & that hurts your new addition to the family. You can never be too thorough when it comes to providing for another living being! That's the only reason I rate them a 4/5 stars is because they stock the unhealthy products that sell faster because of the unbeatable prices. You know what is the only thing that beats those prices? I've been shopping at Pet Club since they were located in Mountain View and only accepted cash or check. It's a long drive for me to the Snell location, but well worth it when I had 8 cats to feed. Their prices and selection are excellent, IF and WHEN the shelves are stocked. I went on a Monday and shelves were empty. I asked about it and was told they restock on Tuesdays. So next time I went on a Tuesday afternoon. I always see the same guy (manager?) working there, and he was stocking shelves. There were palates all over the place, but I didn't see the type of food I usually buy in a case. I hung out in the store for awhile and picked up a few items, but was hoping to leave with a lot more than I got. Would you drive 35 miles round trip to save $25 on pet food? How about $15? $10? Since Pet Club closed in Mountain View in April, it's a 44 mile round trip to Pet Club San Mateo, or a 37 mile round trip to Pet Club Blossom Hill San Jose, from my home in central Sunnyvale. A lot of retired people like the wife and I have pets. Marty, our cat of 14 years passed away last month. But we still have Stan, a very large 17 lb white cat. Stan is like my wife -won't eat the same food two meals in a row. Cat needs training and wife needs training! My late mother in law the last 10 years of her life could not drive a car, so had to walk or take a bus to shop for her pet food. The Safeway and Petco stores within walking distance of my house sell the 5.5 oz canned Friskies Buffet for $0.65 and $0.61 respectively. If you can drive long distances, Pet Club sells it for 4 or $1.69 or $ 0.43 a can, maximum 48 cans. If you have no car you are SOL as taking a bus from Sunnyvale is out of the question to these stores. I go to the www.petclubstores.com web site and click on this weeks advertisement, which changes every Wednesday. I cut out a coupon, the 3 ounce $0.53 Fancy Feast, maximum 24 cans. I check the San Jose Mercury News, for two more coupons that don't appear in the web site. One coupon is buy $30 worth of non sale products and get a $5 credit on your purchase for customers from Sunnyvale, Mountain View, or Palo Alto. The other coupon is get two 5.5 ounces cans of cat food free with purchase of cat food. Don't subscribe to the newspaper? Well, you can always go to your public library and cut out the coupons from the library copy of the newspaper -if somebody like me hasn't already done it. Do it discretely, when nobody is looking, as the Sunnyvale pokey is right next to the library! Every three months I have to restring my tennis racquet, driving from Sunnyvale into San Jose, so I combine this trip with going to Pet Club in Blossom Hill. The tennis racquet restringing takes 2 hours, so I go next door to get a hair cut, before using my coupons at Pet Club 10 miles away. The Pet Club in Blossom Hill is the same format as the one in Mountain View and San Mateo, spacious and clean, with canned and bagged pet food stored on shelves like in a warehouse. 1:30pm Wednesday, nobody here but us retired folks. I check out the in store advertisement deal: buy 36 cans of cat food and receive a 2 lb bag of Fussy Cat dry food free. Deals like this are not advertised in newspapers nor on the internet. My cat loves Fussy Cat, but it is a very high calorie, 406 kcal per cup, dry food, compared to the Royal Canin Light , 291 kcal per cup. I buy the 14 lbs Royal Canin Light for $44, using the $5 out of town gas credit coupon from the Mercury News, in addition to the 48 cans of Friskies Buffet at 4 for $1.69. And I get two cans of cat food for free with the other newspaper coupon. Just like going to ARCO gas stations: cash or debt card only -no credit cards. Compared to Safeway, I save roughly 20 cents per can for 72 cans total, plus 2 cans free, plus the $5 gas credit, along with the free $6 2 lb Fussy Cat, or a grand total of $27 saved. I check out the Pet smart web site, and they have Friskies on sale for $0.48 a can, and Fancy Feast for $0.58 a can, so the savings here would be only $17 saved. In one trip, my tennis racquet strings get clipped, my hair gets clipped, Pet Club ads get clipped, but my wallet does not get clipped! 74 cans of cat food, one 2 lb bag, one 14 lb bag. We use this place to buy our dog food. We can't find it at very many places but Pet Club always has it in stock. Store is organized pretty well and their prices are very comparable if not better. I noticed that their fish department is not kept up as well as it should be (I used to work in the business). The "sleeping" fish should be scooped right away and the tanks are not cleaned as often as they should. I no longer buy fish so not a big deal to me. Overall a great pet store! My family and friends no long shop with Petco or Petsmart following the horror stories of animal abuse, pet discrimination (pit bulls), etc. Usually we go to feed stores because they offer a lot for bunnies at a good price and they're usually smaller brands that are made with better ingredients, but they closed early today so we made a stop a pet club. We've been here in the past and liked it as well, but today we realized it's a pretty good store. Luckily they have a wide range of products for all kinds of animals and at great prices. We're pleasantly surprised by all the great deals they offered such as; buy one get one free, 10%-50% off, and small donations packages. We were sold on the inexpensive and lovely option of being able to purchase a small care package for shelter animals! We will probably continue to shop at feed stores because of the large options for bunnies, but Pet Club will always be a great back up! read more

It has choices here for different type of pets, also the price is fair umlike patco stores where in business but it is really only about earning money. The weekly doctor on site, and adoption events are a plus. This shop is near my mom's house, so is a good spot to pick up sundries for my dogs when I visit. During my most recent visit, I had a new puppy in tow that was apparently having trouble generalizing the concept of potty training to mom's house ... so off to Pet Club. It is a huge shop, generally well-stocked with all sorts of national brands of foods, toys, treats, and most importantly in this case, enzymatic cleaners and puppy pads. It does feel a bit like a warehouse, but prices are good. We should be well-stocked for the duration of our visit. read more
