When checking out I asked the young lady if she had done the grooming and she said no and didn't know who did. I wanted to be sure to ask for them again. I also asked if my dog had done well because she can be a tad anxious. And all I got was an I don't know. I asked if the groomer was available and again I don't know. Also, I booked my appointment on line. Just the basic grooming. When I checked in they printed off a paper and flipped it over for me to sign. I flipped to the front and there were $30 in add ons I did not request! I'm glad I flipped it over. So be careful what you sign!! read more

This review is mainly for grooming. We have 2 dogs, pit and blue heeler. They are particular. Not necessarily nice with other dogs and very whiny. We have brought them in a few times for flea treatments, normal baths, and basic grooming like nails. Eric has assisted us almost every time and I really need to give him a shout out and say he's amazing! If you bring up a special detail you are concerned about he will be sure to assist! The store is always clean and the staff has always been polite and sweet. They talk with our dogs all the time. I would highly recommend, we live in Kyle and do not enjoy that location. We drive all the way to Brodie Lane so the dogs will be more comfortable. They still hate the baths and can't wait to leave but the staff seem to be very patient with them and very sweet. read more

They sold me a sick and dying hamster that was this way because of their disgusting and inhumane conditions for the animals. You can get a refund by bringing the hamster back but he will just get thrown in the dumpster, and he deserves so much more. Shame on Petco. I will never buy another animal from this company. She said "I did not know what I was talking about and that the plan I claimed I was on STOPPED 3 years ago!" On 11/23/24- After scheduling a service that was included in my monthly plan, I was told that their VOIP system was down and that there was no way they could access my account information and as a result, would have to pay for the services out of pocket. I then asked to speak to a manager to see if we can figure out together how to work around this issue. I did not want to pay for a service that was FREE in my monthly payments. Maria Goldman, then came out with an ATTITUDE. She claimed that my program that I was talking about has not been available for over 3 years now. I shared with her that I have been a member for years and know along with her staff.. that told her before we met..."that I was part of the old program." She continued to argue with me and state that I did not know what I was talking about. I have been Vital Care member since 04/23/2019. I did pet training 8 years ago that was worth 5 stars. That was then I went in today to get a SINGLE dew claw trimmed. I said not the others. I'd gladly pay full price for the one. They could have bent down and snipped it. Nope. Woman takes the dog and does EVERY claw after I specifically said only the one claw. I wasn't going to make a huge stink as it was done but obviously I didn't tip. Place has go to hell once Roy left. I use to work there and had to quit in October (2024) due to the new manager being extremely rude. Fast forward to today (June 30 2025) I put in a curbside pick up order due to my dog having fleas and I need to treat them. I get a notification that it was canceled. I decided to call some old friends and asked if they could go around the store to see if the items were there and to my surprise they're all there except one item. So I call the store and who answered the phone... the extremely rude manager "what do you want" first why are you answering the phone like that. I proceeded to ask why I was cancelled and she said rudely "call the 800 number" so I did and they said "none of the items are at the store." Today we went to pick up some cat food and the ferret cage was disgusting, their was no litter box for them so poop everywhere and their kibble was sitting in their poop. The staff at petco really exceeded my expectations, and I had such a wonderful experience that I felt the need to share. I have been searching for a new Conure bird, which I never thought I would buy from a pet store. I went in for dog food, and left with the most precious baby boy. He was so loved by the staff, and you could tell that they truly cared that he went to a good home. The manager, Roy, not only cares for his animals, but he is fantastic at customer service and also treats his employees very well. This bird is so tame, all bc of the love he received while in their care. I am so happy with my purchase, and had a wonderful experience with Petco. I came in a couple weeks ago to buy and check the prices of food for my dog. I looked online and the prices are significantly cheaper, granted you spend more than a certain amount of money or sign up for autoship. I was not impressed after ordering online. I was able to get these dog chews for his arthritis but unfortunately I couldn't cancel right away. They were unable to process my cancellation one minute after I realized I ordered the wrong weight and instructed me to return it at the store. They were able to price match me which I thought was very nice. I believe her name was Karis - who definitely deserves a kudos. She was the only person there doing checkouts and returns however, a very rude (andd transphobic) customer was in the store at the same time as me. She's having to go back and forth between me and the other customer who was being very demanding. The employee was still very attentive to me and provided excellent customer service but very no intervention from management with the difficult customer. The price I paid online for this particular product was $15+ more in the store. I had a good customer service representative experience. But I probably would not recommend shopping inside the store if you need a particular food or product. The little snack Dog Bar for treats was reasonably priced and you can buy them by the pound, wish I thought was cool because most places charge you individually. $$$ Easy to find Plenty of parking They offer CBD and hemp for animal anxiety They do have tons of choices for dogs and cats. Basically anything you need, you can find at the store. I was able to do my price match and return in under 2 minutes sans the difficulty which was obviously stressing the employee out. One of the employees who was stocking products was able to easily find the dog chews I was looking for, so they know where everything is and that was very helpful. You won't wander around the store looking for one particular product because the employees that were there do know where everything is and offer a wide variety Short staffed No intervention from management was my biggest turn off. Sometimes it's the people. Today, I ran into Roland, a cashier - but much more. I've never seen anyone who enjoyed their work so much and was able to inform me of their membership program. He loves pets treating each dog and cat as if they were individuals. Big dogs are welcome and little yappers are treated equally! Seriously though, I had employees ask me if I needed assistance and the customer experience was top notch. I'm proud to say I bought a new doggie bed and a Soph-Large Dog Specially Reinforced canine pooper scooper that I can't wait to try out for myself. I brought my dog in to VetCo for a physical exam and a vaccine and told the vet tech about a concern with my dogs ear to which she replied they do not have time to look at her ear because this is not a "sick visit". She continued to tell me they don't have time to examine my dogs ear because they double book their appts and my appt is only 15mins and they already have someone waiting. How's that my problem that they double book?? I asked her how that works that I have to pay for a physical exam yet they can't examine my dogs ear to figure out what's wrong. She kept referring to being double booked, no time, and I didn't have a "sick" visit. This seems VERY UNETHICAL for a vet or any medical provider to deny a patient services when there is a known concern. That seems like doing harm by neglecting care, and I'm pretty sure that is in their ethics and codes. I'm very curious as to how they definie a physical exam and what would've happened if the vet noticed the ear on their own and if they still would've denied me services. I will never return to Vetco. Booked an appt a while back for yesterday. They called 10 min before the appt to reschedule telling me they were cancelling all appts because their equipment was overheating. They rescheduled my pup for today at 3. Took him here by 3 pm. When we checked in they said 3-4 hrs ... what?!? But ok if they are that busy, we left him there and went for coffee. Walked back in to check on their progress at 5 pm. They said they were again sending everyone home because it was getting too hot in the room. Really?!? They had my dog in a kennel for 2 hours and didn't groom him? Pretty unbelievable. And when were they going to call me? We just happened to walk back in. I gave them 2 stars because fortunately they bathed him first so he smells much better... but the rest of the $94 worth of services they didn't do (hair cut, nail filed, teeth brushed, etc. ). Had to wait two hours for our dog to be done and they placed him in a kennel to wait for his hair to get combed. Its the 2nd day home and he is not smelling good already. We've had 2 bad experiences w/the Brodie lane Petco grooming dept. Our situation is oddly similar to other reviews. 1. Our pup was there for 4+ hrs and was not groomed. Upon being called that she was done, we picked her up. The store was busy, so we paid & left. Only to realize at home that our dog wasn't washed, nor were her nails trimmed. So, we paid $45.00 for her to sit in a kennel for 4 hrs... We called and spoke to the grooming mgr & there was no explanation to why this happened & NO refund. The mgr said I could bring her back. But, I wasn't available to do so. Later, I spoke to the store GM "Roy" & he said next time ask for him and he'll make sure I get a discount or something... again, NO refund. 2. Fast forward @ 6 months, we took our dog back against my best judgment. Due to other (weather related) reasons, it was hard to get an appt elsewhere. So, I went & tried to request that I don't get the same tech. The grooming mgr Caitlyn (I believe is her name) tried to blame the Westlake store for the previous issue. She continued to deflect any responsibility. I didn't want to argue with her AGAIN, rather I'd try to speak to Roy. But, he was not there. ** Well that was a big mistake. I ended up calling Roy a day later or so as he didn't return my message. Roy didn't let me talk as he continuously interrupted me & I couldn't finish a sentence. His response was to be overly defensive, argue, deflect any responsibility & then he CALLED me "derogatory names". In disbelief, I even asked him "what... ?" Only to have him repeat the name calling. Ron finished the conversation saying, and I quote: "That I could complain up the chain at Petco but nothing - NOTHING - would ever come of it." He continued with "have fun with that! " The funny thing is I called another PetCo GM to explain my situation and ask for the formal complaint process. She immediately knew who I was referring to w/out my mentioning the Brodie store specifically or by using any names. She said, "I'm not at all surprised." ~ So, sir Roy, your reputation precedes you. LOL Moral of the story: If you make a mistake, listen to the customer & then own it. Don't blame another location and then deny, deny, deny. Gaslighting is never a good look! And try honoring the satisfaction guarantee & REFUND the customer. I still haven't been refunded from my 1st visit. My dog was stuffed in a kennel for 4+ hours due to your employees negligence! I got a call 15 min later that she was ready and when I picked her up, they hadn't finished her haircut, they kept her for 4 hours and al they'd done was give her a bath. I usually go to Petsmart for grooming and recommend that instead- im sorry to say, don't come here. I've never had an experience like that and it was just not worth my money or time. Jesse was fantastic -- she took my baby girl Golden Retriever on short notice and was so great about handling her with her special needs when she was really sick and the other Petco wouldn't take her. She only had a couple weeks left to live and my friends had booked me a photo session with Zilker Bark as a gift, so I wanted her to look and feel fresh and beautiful and like a pup again. Jesse saved our day and took such great care with her and she looked so beautiful for her photo shoot -- I treasure those photos to this day and I will never forget how Jesse saved the day for us. read more

Maegan has to be the worst cashier ever!! She cannot count. Why would you put someone that can't count on the register?? Shortly before Christmas I was in line while Maegan assisted children and their dad. We were in line a LONG time. The children had obviously been saving money to purchase something. They had a bunch of one dollar bills and lots of coin. Even with a calculator Maegan could NOT count their money. I watched Maegan count that money at least 5 times. This is someone that should NEVER be on a register. Unless Petco does not care if their cash is accurate. Maegan closing her draw at the end of a shift either takes forever or someone else does it. Fast forward to today.... Unbelievably Maegan is still on the register. And she still struggles with cash. She had to count my change about 4 times. And she almost gave me too much. When she mixed denominations she got lost. She had to switch to all the same denomination to give me change. I will be going to Petsmart from now on. Both stores are in the same shopping center and Petsmart does have a better selection. And Petsmart hires cashiers that can count. read more

Where do I start this place completely botched my sons hair cut. I asked for his hair to be cut low and for them to cut between his eyes and cut his tail low and his body cut low and for a bath. I get to Pacs appointment at 8 am and didn't hear anything back for hours so at 11:30 am I called and no one answered. So I drove up there to check on him. The ladies were cutting someone else's dogs hair. I waited for ten minutes and the lady comes out and asked me to give her anther 40 mins because she came in late. May I mind you we were the first people there at 8:00 am. I get a text to pick him up at 12:40 ish and I'm rushing - running from work. I get him pay and go. I get home I noticed he has hair all over the car and it seems like he has had no bath because he's itching and it's red spots all over him and this rash on his tail. HE DID NOT HAVE BEFORE. I call back to back no one answers --- so I go home a cut his tail down which I asked them to do and it's red almost bloody and I thought maybe that was irritating him. But I'm pissed. His hair in his face was not cut down nor the hair on his ears. My dog is usually active and he was quite and not himself. I don't know what MISTi Z did to my baby but she better count her days. I just spent $80 on medication for him and cone because these red patches are all over his skin and he came home with fleas. I called the customer for a refund they claim their going to do an investigation. RUN away from this place I didn't listen to the bad reviews when I should've. My husband dropped our dog off to get groomed this morning, but a couple of hours later I get a call from the groomers saying they can not cut her hair because she is in heat. So I then say to the person "so yall arent able to cut any of her hair?" They then reply "no, because she is heat" I said ok then I will come get her. So I get to the salon and said hi I am here to pick up my dog, they ask for her name, I give it and then they all just stand there looking at each other. Like none of the workers wanted to go get my dog from the back. In my head I am like, ok, that's strange, why isnt anyone going to get my dog. These two girls stared at each other for like a minute to try and see who would go get my dog and I couldnt figure out why, unitl they brought her out. THEY BUTCHERED My DOGS HAIR! I looked at the workers and I was like yall shaved my dog halfway and then stopped?!!! Look at her, she looks crazy. They should have just finished the job, because they were half way done. I was even more upset because the girl on the phone told me they did not cut ANY of her hair because they couldnt! Well she clearly lied cause my dog looks like she got into a fight with a lion. Also, it would be nice if one of the questions asked while checking in your pet is are they in heat to avoid situations like this. But instead yall want to ask questions about flea and ticks and shots, how about you add in are they in heat to the mix. I am very disappointed in the service we received today. None of the workers apologized, none of them asked me if I wanted to reschedule, as a matter of a fact no one said a word because they new what they had done. I have taken my Doberman Pinscher to the grooming department at Petco to get her nails trimmed and ears cleaned multiple times at this location. Most recently I dropped off my dog to get bathed and cleaned as well as an ear cleaning. Her ears are cropped so I make sure she gets a good cleaning to avoid infection. I noticed she was having issues and crying a bit but couldn't tell why until I pet her ear and she yelped hysterically yesterday me touching the outside of her ear. I was concerned so I took her to the vet the very next day. When I came back they asked me if she had been groomed recently so I replied yes and the vet said there had been a major ear infection on both sides. They had to sedate her because she would not stop crying from pain and said bacteria was forming from water that was left in her ears without being fully dried. After a $400 vet bill and 14 worth of antibiotics and ear drops I must say I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with Petco's grooming policy. Unfortunately I had the displeasure of visiting the store again. I came in to purchase bones which I placed in a clear bag and tied on the top just to make it easier to carry. The bag is see-through when you can easily count how many are in the bag however Carol tells me "it doesn't look like you've got eight and I'm going to open the bag". I was taken aback by her rude demeanor and she proceeded to open the bag sticker hand in fiddle around and say indeed I had not picked up eight bones but 9! I'm sure you can imagine at this point her condescending tone as if I was trying to steal a bone :/ so I tell her take out all the bones let's count them on the counter, she was wrong they were eight bones as I originally stated.
