Let me tell you about the two worst veterinary experiences I've ever had ~ both at this Vetco/Petco location. My first visit was for my 13-week-old kitten's "free" first wellness visit (be warned: it is not actually free). When I arrived, the receptionist told me my kitten could roam around the exam room while we waited for the veterinarian. A few minutes later, the doctor came in and, after a tense interaction, abruptly told me that it was recommended that cats not roam freely in the room. I was completely taken aback. I would have gladly kept my kitten in her carrier had anyone told me that. Instead, I received conflicting information from their own staff and felt like I was being reprimanded for following instructions I had just been given. The appointment itself was disappointing. Rather than receiving meaningful guidance as a first-time kitten owner, the visit largely consisted of being pitched their membership program and having a topical flea and tick treatment applied. I left feeling like I had learned almost nothing about my kitten's health. Fast forward four days, and my kitten began experiencing blood in her stool. Naturally, I was concerned. Parasites such as Giardia and Coccidia are common in young kittens, so I immediately contacted Vetco and requested a full fecal panel. Because this location is roughly 40 minutes from my home, I specifically asked whether I could bring in a fresh stool sample first and return with my kitten if necessary. I was told that would be fine. I drove all the way back with the sample and explained the situation to both the front desk staff and the technician. The employee I dealt with (a younger woman with monotone voice/expression, curly dark hair + glasses) was the same person who had assisted me during my first visit. Both times, she was incredibly short, dismissive, and rude. I made it very clear that I wanted a complete fecal workup, including testing for Giardia and Coccidia. I was told they would run a "fecal panel". Nobody told me additional tests were needed, nobody explained there were separate parasite screenings available, and nobody gave me the option to purchase additional testing. The next day, I called for results and was told the sample was negative for parasites. Wanting clarification, I specifically asked whether Giardia and Coccidia had been tested. The answer was no. When I asked why, given that I had repeatedly requested a full panel, I was told those were separate tests. That information would have been extremely useful while I was standing in the clinic with the sample in hand. I would have happily paid for every recommended test at that time. Instead, multiple staff members failed to communicate critical information, resulting in wasted time, additional stress, and no real answers regarding my kitten's condition. The common theme throughout both visits was poor communication, lack of attention to detail, and an overwhelming focus on selling memberships rather than providing quality veterinary care. These were my first two visits to Vetco, and they will absolutely be my last. As a pet owner, I expect clear communication, competent guidance, and staff who genuinely care about helping animals. I brought my dog here for grooming for the first time. The price was less than many other pet groomers in the area. I had to bring in my dogs rabies vaccine and they took her in right away when I showed up for my appointment. The service was friendly and I received a text when she was ready in 2.5 hours. It was a smooth process and my dog looked very cute after her haircut. I would definitely recommend. read more

Review only for vetco services! If you know what shots you need to get then this may be a viable option as that's what I did as well. We have our own local vet and got our annual check up & know what shots we needed did about 80% at our local vet and 20% here at vetco. I must say service is probably nonexistent here as the workers there do not give you any info. When we first got our rabies - no warnings, just did the shot and that's it. The second visit was to get the bordo & the vet mentioned there is 4weeks needed for a bordo booster... so when we came back for the bordo booster another vet said it's not needed. It actually covers for a whole year so essentially we wasted an hour of our time just to come back... Overall do not recommend vetco... read more

We were debating for a couple of years whether to get a pet stroller for our dog. At some point in a few years he's gonna have walking issues and we decided to get the pet stroller to help ease him on the longer walks. Petco in Teterboro always has what we need. A few things we can find is available when we don't have time to wait from ordering online. Petco staff is helpful, walking around and the cashiers. The pet stroller has been great so far. Just the right size for a medium size dog. When you can close the cover, still breathable for your pet. It comes with a cups holder attached and a bottom basket (both not pictured, we detached it until we need it). This was the only pet stroller available in the store. Great purchase knowing we will be using often for the longer walks to take care of errands. Our dog is comfortable in it too which is important. Came to this Petco to return something. Stood at the registers for about 5 minutes before an employee approached the counter. There was an employee, a woman with dark brown hair, sitting at the counter of the grooming section that was near the cashier counters, but do you think she called anyone for me??? No, she didn't, but she did acknowledge me. She was wearing a Petco grooming cape, so as a representative of the store, she should have called someone for me the moment I approached the cashier. In any event, a bunch of lazy people. As dead as this location is, they should do themselves a favor and close this location. It would teach the lazy employees a lesson. This is all a reflection of the customer service Petco provides. Too bad I have to give one star; zero stars would have been more appropriate. read more

We had a slightly emergency situation of needing to see a Dr. for two dogs rescued from an unhealthy situation. The Vetco staff in Teterboro welcomed us, squeezed us in and Dr. Beeber was wonderful. We appreciated the warm welcome and will be coming back again. Thanks team in Teteboro. read more

So we had a grooming appointment and while on the way there we were text that our appointment was cancelled. So they rescheduled us with a manager. I said 2 things. Do not cut her face square and do not cut her lashes. I was showing a couple pictures of her when her face is cut correctly. I was rushed because "the big boss" was apparently there. The manager said "ok ok I understand. How about you just trust me?" I said of course however do not make her square!! I must have said it 5x at least. Well upon pickup she tells me she was matted and had to charge me extra. Ok, I don't truly care about that. So I tip her and then out comes my dog. I said "oh Harley you smell so good. Your so clean" I just don't want an altercation whatsoever. I had my 11 year old with me and we both just kept looking at each other. It's almost as is she heard me say "please make her square!" I have no idea but my cute little baby is not cute whatsoever and she is completely square!! I wish I saw her before I tipped! I couldn't get out of there quick enough. We will NEVER be back and I will post pictures as well as a review on facebook groups and anywhere else anyone may listen so they NEVER bring their dog there! No I don't want the manager to call me. She is who did this awful cut in my baby!!! Also she claimed my dog didn't like being groomed and got nasty. Makes me wonder what she did to her as she has been getting groomed every 8 weeks for 2 years. We loved the place we went to, we just can't afford to drive an hour and a half from home. We took our old lady Roxy for a mini spa day. We where greeted by a friendly staff. But most importantly our groomer, Adrain. You can tell he is an animal lover by the way our Roxy was excited when she meet him. She hasn't been to the groomers in awhile. We let Adrain know our concerns and he was very comforting. He treated her so kind, we stayed and watched through the window. He talked to her, and was even able to do her nails with Roxy pulling away. I would definitely recommend Adrain to anyone who is considering going to this Petco location. Definitely can't wait to bring her back. read more

This review is for Vetco Clinic. I brought my dog in for his vaccinations and all seemed well until it came time for his shots. The Veterinarian, Dr. Ashraf Shehab, has terrible bed side manners. He was frustrated with how he couldn't seem to use their app in the iPad so he flung the iPad to the side before telling us to carry our dog to the table for vaccinations. He was abrasive to begin with, forcing a dropper into my dog's mouth by grabbing his head forcibly. We let it be because we didn't think it was a big deal until it was time for heart worm test. That's when his assistant, David S., came to restrain our dog so the veterinarian can withdraw blood for the heartworm test. Without giving any specific instructions, they went on with the test and my dog shrieked. David then shouts, "Yo would one of you come talk to your dog?" like we should have known what to do. Every clinic has its protocol and I don't think shouting at the owners for "help" was called for. We didn't want to be in his way and wasn't sure how he needed to be helped. To make things more confusing, the veterinarian told us to "Turn around!" which we interpreted as look away and don't get in the way. Some clinics don't want the owners there and handle simple vaccinations themselves because they have been doing this professionally. Nothing about this experience looked professional to us. It turns out that they popped a vein and had to wipe a lot of blood from the table because they couldn't hold our dog firmly. I don't think one can expect dogs to stay still when needles are involved, ESPECIALLY when they are handled the way the veterinarian and the assistant were handling them. Afterwards, the assistant then angrily puts our dog on the ground and walks of and gives us a slip to pay for the services. Our dog's leg is now swollen. We will never bring our dog back for this type of care. I'm trying to be understanding of the staff and how they might be overworked / understaffed but this was very badly handled. I'm sure mishaps happen but they sure made us feel like their mistakes were on us. Horrible experience. read more

Took my dog for a regular grooming appointment 12/23/2023. He had a couple of matted areas which I told the groomer about in hopes that she would remove them.. The groomer called Izzy S. instead shaved my dog almost bold. She completely removed all of his hair. Not once did she call me and inform me if I was okay with that decision.. She shaved his private parts so much that now its also irritated. Shame on Petco for hiring such careless staff. I trusted this person with my dog in hopes that she would have done a good job but that was not the case. The customer service in Tereboro grooming has horrible. Izzy S. didn't even hand me my dog personally instead some other lady gives me my dog and tells me to Brush Brush Brush after I complained. I will never step a foot in Petco again and use their grooming services. They just lost a customer and I will make sure all of my dog friends hear about this and spread the word. I had a grooming appointment for my dog, specifically a nail trimming as his nails are long. When we got there, Adrian T. refused to groom my dog because he is on Prozac. Adrian started arguing with my boyfriend, who is a licensed psychiatrist and aware of the effects of Prozac. Adrian started making false claims that Prozac lowers the heart rate which is not a full factual claim. Mind you our dog has been groomed at another Petco before and did not have any issues. The Petco policy does not state anything about being discrimnatory against mental health and I would give this place a 0 if I could. Adrian was so unprofessional and I 200% recommend not using this Petco if you want a positive experience for your dog. I can't believe this Petco has a discriminatory policy against pets and their mental health. It is shameful and disgusting. If you want to pursue such a policy, than you should make a note on your website or make a phone call prior to someone showing up for their appointment. read more

Some of your fish tanks are way too crowded. Any experienced fish owner knows a goldfish needs 20 gallons per fish. Your goldfish tank doesn't even have plants or rocks. You wouldn't recommend a customer put this many fish in a tank without any plants or rocks, so why do u do it? They're fighting for space and are depressed from being in a plain tank and barely and room to swim. They need a natural environment while they're in the store. Also, in the past your koi were in terrible conditions. Horrible lesions and wounds. The staff didn't know what to do about it. Now I always see their koi tank empty because they obviously don't know how to care for these fish. I'm glad it's always empty now. They don't deserve to carry the fish if they can't care for them properly. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE. The people who work here do not care for your pet and are weird. My dog is medium size, short-hair, only there for a bath and the special Halloween package. His appointment was at 1:45 pm, I came 10 mins early and it was a pleasant exchange. I waited in my car thinking it would only be 2 hours, 3 maximum.. around 4 pm I still didn't receive a call that my dog was done. Didn't think too much of it. I went in and started window shopping..waited patiently for a call. 5 pm rolled around and still nothing.. I could hear my dog barking several times as I walked past the groomers office. I walked up to the office and waited at an empty desk for about 15 mins..no one was there, I even answered some questions from customers. I decided to call them to see if anyone would pick up, nothing. Called again.. no one was home., only heard a call for groomers on the loud speaker. It had been 4 HOURS now. Walked to the cash register and talked to this very disinterested person and asked if anyone was available at the grooming station, and she looked at me like I had 2 heads. She called over someone who finally looked like they can solve my issue and I followed him to the groomers station and waited for him to come out. He came out with my dog wearing nothing but those thin blue collars they put them in when they first take them inside. I asked where his harness was and he ran back inside. He came back with the harness on my dog and I asked if he even got the $28 Halloween package I would have paid extra for, he ran back in to ask. He said yes, and I asked where is his Halloween neck scarf and all that stuff was... it was just a mess. The groomer finally came out with the neck scarf and a spritz. When she tried to put the neck scarf on, my dog reacted and barked very loud at her. I took the scarf from her and put it on myself. I was very, very fed up. My bill was already printed but she took the Halloween package off AS SHE SHOULD. My dog did not receive the treatment I was going to pay for and I am not one to be confrontational, but the fact she took it off happily just goes to show she did not give my dog the "Halloween package" that this place offers. Very disappointed and I will never be visiting again. I should have learned my lesson the last time I was here and got almost the same exact service. TERRIBLE. read more

This place is very dirty my puppy is very sick after her grooming, they don't sterilize the equipments and now she has bacteria that can cause death. Please stay away and save your pets. We recently adopted a 5 year old Yorkie, Walter. His first grooming experience did not go well. He was scared and nipped at the groomer. We decided to try Petco in Teterboro. We shop there often and the dogs being groomed always look so relaxed. When we arrived for our appointment, we related our previous grooming experience. Izzy understood and advised that she may not be able to trim around Walter's face if he was very agitated. We handed Walter over to Izzy and he went with her like he knew her for years! I sneaked a peek of him being groomed and he was so calm! Izzy did let us know that Walter did not like the clippers or blow dryer. But other than that, he was a good boy! I should have known better based off of the reviews. I attended what I thought was a dog training for my pup but so happens I accidentally showed up to the wrong location. This was 100% my mistake but the gentleman in charge of conducting the coarse wasn't that pleasant or helpful in anyway. Upon entering along with my teen daughter we waited for the trainer Anthony to show up, when he did he looked and stared at me in which I then greated him rather than him to me as the "customer". His attitude made me happy to know I had the wrong location, I would not feel comfortable having him train my pup. I explained to him that I spoke to a young lady by the name of Ashley who scheduled me for a one on one coarse and he stopped me there and said " she is new and shouldn't be scheduling anything for anyone, don't know why she put you for today" I was beyond confused and asked if maybe I had the wrong location and of he could possibly help me find out in their system? His response "no, sorry I can't help you" . I have to say, I have had my share of people who aren't pleasant in some buisnesses but to have a trainer with this type of attitude is a bit much. I will NEVER recommend this spot for any training for Dog, cats turtle, fish or anything!!! I have to wonder if all the stores are like this, its $25(cheap) should I expect any better? I made an appointment for my dog when I spoke to a woman she said it was ok if the dog has 2nd distemper vaccines sling as he has his rabies certificate so of course I went. I was turned away because the dog didn't have his 3rd distemper vaccine Called the vet to ask him if it's necessary for the dog to have a 3rd distemper to get groomed. Took my dog for her first haircut here and I was pleasantly surprised. We asked for a Mohawk haircut as Halloween is quickly approaching. What we got was so much more... Melanie, my dog's groomer, not only did a fantastic job with her haircut, but went above and beyond. First, she recognized my dog from a local pet store, silver nickel puppies. We watched as she very gently handled our dog and helped her remain calm. The entire process took 3 hours... and, I have to admit, I was a little nervous leaving her there for that long. But when we came back to pick her up, we very quickly realized that she has been in the best hands. Melanie appropriately reported tenderness in my dog's right hip and abdomen, without knowing that she had received injections in those areas earlier in the day at the vet. We appreciated her attentiveness and communicating her observations to us. I hope Petco recognizes how valuable an employee like Melanie is. She is passionate about her work and loving to her clientele! read more

I had a grooming appointment for my Gsp who's 7 months old. After 25 min of driving there, grooming guy said that my puppy s vaccinations are up to date but she has no Bordetella vaccine on her records because it's optional to have it and he said it's up to him to groom my puppy. So he didn't do the work. The thing that I don't understand is this vaccine is not required by the company but actually it's required by grooming person. Plus, i had to go all the way over there to find out and get rejected. Not a good experience if you ask me. I am sad. read more

I was very surprised when I learned from my close friend and neighbor that the manager, Christine had treated her very unfairly for inquiring as to why her dog who has not changed in size suddenly went from a medium sized to a large sized dog for grooming. When she questioned this the manager next time put her down as an extra large sized dog and when my neighbor asked her about it Christine banned her from the store. This is such an outrageous abuse of power and I cannot believe that Petco corporation would allow this. I have never had any problems with the other workers here but the manager clearly has some strange problem with overcharging for grooming and then uses her power to punish the customer for having the intelligence to question her on it. read more

Essentially got kicked out because my dog was barking at a mouse in one of the cages . The mouse wasn't even phased by my dog barking at it . Literally the mouse had no reaction in his sound proof cage to my dog barking at it . Some employee on his high horse told me to stop my dog from barking at it . His justification was that the mouse was going to get stressed out . The mouse literally had no reaction to my dog barking . This is a pet shop . What do you expect . I'm sure the manager is going to respond to this review saying the employee was well within his right but seriously it's a mouse who's fate is going to be snake food one day . Please . I had visited this store about 6 months ago and I had a wonderful 5 star experience. I had thought I posted my review but I must have forgotten. The cashier and the manager were very cool and the matched chewy.com prices. I bought 2 cat deluxe soft sided carriers along with a few other things. The stock person was helpful. Our cats love the carriers and overall the shopping experience was great. I have a pet supply shop about 2 miles from our house but I wanted to check out this new Petco Fast foward to my experience this weekend. I'd give negative stars if I could. I was so annoyed that left my cart with $120 of stuff at the register. When I got home I placed an online order with a competitor. I was seriously pissed. When I walked in there was a blond on the register with a long line of people. I did not see any sales or stock people on the floor and met other people also looking for help. I found my items, lugged them into the too small cart. I go to the register and see a line of 5 other people. No one is at the register and no one has seem anyone at the register. I see the same blond.manning the register when I walked in ignoring all of us. Very loudly I announced "Is anyone working the register?" No reaction.) from the blond, she kept walking. I raised my voice even louder shouting "Does anyone work here?" The people in the line tell me they have been waiting a while. People were just walking out of the store. Finally a guy showed up. I asked about the price matching policy and I was told they no longer do that. The policy just changed. I was so disgusted. I thought about asking for the manager and then I remembered how completely deaf and oblivious the staff in this store is so I walk out leaving my stuff with the bunch of abandoned items. I do not usually write reviews but I have to about this experience. I visited vetco at teterboro to get vaccinations for my 6.2 lb dog. I was told, even advised to order from chewy, which would be super easy and less money. Here is where everything goes wrong. Chewy could not find vetco in Teterboro. They even called and were told there is no Vetco at that location. They couldnt get the prescription. They called AGAIN, and were told there was a Vetco there but no one knows who the vets were or how to reach them. No one knew how to get the prescription over. But it gets even worst. The prescription they wrote is for a larger dog, and needs to be corrected. I cannot even order the prescription from the vetco pharmacy because its too strong for her! Then it gets even worse. My dog gets fleas because of all the dalay in getting the right Rx. and I find out at petco for her bath, and they cannot bathe her and give me wet dog to take back home!!! The manager of Petco at the grooming salon gave me an 877 # to call rather than be more proactive in helping me and my now half bathed and wet dog. THEN!!! I call 877 number to call. The supervisor says, I know its not right to ask you to go back, but theres no other way to get the correct prescription unless I return to Teterboro Petco at the end of next week when Vetco are at that location again. THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO REACH ANY VET OR HAVE A FILE THAT ANY ONE CAN AUTHORIZE THE RIGHT MEDS FOR HER! The only way is to wait another week, take time off work, go back to them and get a new Rx!!! They know its unfair, but oh well. Be warned!!!!! GO ANYWHERE ELSE. You cant get worse than this. OH and did I mention after her vaccines, she was super sick for a week and I really wonder if they gave a 10-20 lb vaccine for my 6lb dog!! as they did her follow up Rx!! Please do not go here. I am utterly disgusted with the level of customer service I received from the Grooming Salon at PETCO. A young woman by the name of Melanie(?), was very unkind and insensitive. It began weeks ago when I called and left a message trying to obtain an appointment for my dog (Shih Tzu) who had not been groomed since the beginning of March, for obvious reasons. I was very transparent about his condition, letting her know he has severe matting and I was worried that he could potentially have fleas. She explained it was their policy not to accept animals who may have fleas. I understood. She was very clearly annoyed that I was insistent upon making him an appointment even as a placeholder since it was virtually impossible to get any appointments anywhere in Bergen county within a month. She nonchalantly said "Bring him in on July 16th and I'll see what we can do." I thanked her and quickly set out to make sure he could be seen. To be in compliance with the policy, I made sure he was free of any fleas and was up to date with all his vaccinations (I did this on July 9th, he was seen by his veterinarian and cleared). I anxiously awaited a phone confirmation of his appointment, as this is their standard policy or at least has been for 4 years since taking him to this location. I did not receive any follow up on July 15th so I called early today to confirm his appt time on today, July 16th. I left a message and within 20 mins received a call back saying his appointment was scheduled for 8:15am. This was already after 10am and I had not received a call saying "Hi, Obi has an appt today are you still able to make it?" Nothing. The Groomer was adamant that he could not be seen at any point today and that I had missed my opportunity. I have never in 4 years had to argue with Krystal, who was previously at this location. She would make every effort to see Obi and would keep us abreast on any cancellations when no appointments were immediately available. I am furious. We've waited for weeks for him to be seen and I would never intentionally miss an appointment for him to be properly taken care of. Her attitude was dismissive and she was especially rude. I asked to speak to someone who could handle this escalation and was put on hold indefinitely. I am extremely disappointed with the service received. read more

Do not bring your pet in for grooming. I did and my little dog has been walking in pain for the past 5 days. Brought to the vet and was told he shows signs of being forced and most likely has a strained muscle. I called the store and the first time they put me on hold and hung up and the second time I called they said they would look into it and haven't heard anything since. Will not be going back and will tell anyone I can to stay away from there. No wonder there were no other dogs when I came in. read more

I just brought my Pomerania,Simba, there to get groomed for the first time. Parking is awesome. The outside is extremely clean also. The staff was WONDERFUL with him. Friendly staff. Close by home. Usually the store is well stocked with items I am looking to purchase. Took off a star because I find that some items on the website sell for less than at the actual store and you have to spend over $50 for free shipping when ordering online. I took my 7 year old rottie to get groomed and I was amazed! The summertime is when he sheds the most and the recommended de-shedding service along with the regular cleaning was amazing!! You can tell how deep the cleaning was. This was the longest a grooming session has ever lasted him. I totally recommend this Petco. I'm taking him on a second visit this week and expect the same awesome service. read more

Madelyn (Maddy) is by far the best Groomer I have taken my Shih Tzu too. He's 6months old and recently was attacked by another dog in my area. I had explained to her that he maybe a little hesitant in being groomed. She was very gentle with my little Jackson and his trimming came out perfect. I am very comfortable to Maddy taking care of my little fur baby. I will be booking my next appointment very soon with her again. Keep up the Good work Maddy!!! read more

The first grooming went great however, the second one left my dog with anxiety. He now could not wait to leave and was super jumpy especially with anything near his face. When we got home my poor pup was rubbing his butt all over the floor. I had asked for her to not go too low on his undercarriage to avoid itchiness. We also noticed the family jewels had been clipped by the buzzer. Wont be bringing my pup back again. read more

I attempted to call the grooming department 9 times between 9am - 10:15am. No one answered. I finally pressed 3 for general information on my last call and I asked to be transferred to someone on grooming because it was an emergency, my dog got sprayed by a skunk last night, I was then transferred and waited on hold for a few minutes only for someone in the grooming department to hang up on me. I have had my dog groomed there once before and they did a great job, but how are people supposed to make an appointment when no one answers the phone? I have had other negative experiences in the past at this store as well. When I got my dog a year ago a very arrogant condescending petco trainer came over to me and began to lecture me on why I shouldn't be carrying, my 9 week old puppy that was shaking with fear and refused to walk, because it would "humanize" him too much. I have owned dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, snakes, lizards throughout my 30 years alive and I have never heard such arrogance come out of a pet store workers mouth. My staffordshire bull terrier is a rescue and he was terrified of everything when we got him. Not he's over 1 year old and is the most obedient, intelligent, playful, loving family dog I could ask for. This petco needs to be a little more selective in their hiring process. read more
