I never write bad reviews because I understand that everyone has bad days but today I'm seeing red. Two days ago i went to the store at 4p to the nails trimmed on one of our dogs but was told they were too busy and come back another day. Today I tried calling ahead of time but was left on hold for way too long so I drove out for another try. This time I was told they are closing early because they had a slow day. Even after explaining that this was my second attempt in 2 days, the answer was still NO. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? You're closing 2 hours early and you're too lazy to take a 5 minute nail trim? I got 2 guinea pigs, and both of them are supposed to be boys, but one of them was a woman and they had three babies. They lied to us.

I took my dog here to get his rabies, the whole process was unorganized. People were taken before me even though there was clearly a line. The vet giving the vaccine was harsh and rude. I was helping get my dog into the area because he is an anxious mess as she harshly and rudely looked at me and said well you can't be in here. Never again will I go to Warwick Petco! read more

I brought my two cats here to get their rabies vaccinations. If you need to get your pets vaccinated- I do NOT recommend bringing them here. They were only able to do one of my cats, because the other one of my cats freaked out and tried to run. (I'm not overly upset about this, I get that they weren't going to try to vaccinate her after her bolting, they just put her back in the carrier and gave her to me) BUT - the employees were very rude to me and short when talking to me. I get it was a stressful situation, but they treated me like it was my fault and were mean when talking to me. ALSO- the cat that they were able to vaccinate, they didn't even explain the care and vaccines they were giving her. I went for a rabies shot- should've been $30-40... I spent $114! Look, I'm willing to get my cats the care they need so I don't care if there is care that they think I should do for them. I would've said yes anyways- but take a moment to explain what you're doing to my cat!!! I didn't say anything at the time because there was a huge line of people there with their pets and everything felt very rushed. Save yourself time and heartache- go to an official vet office. The people at this place do not have good attitudes when dealing with people. It felt like a complete waste of time trying to get my cats in their carriers and all the way there for all of that to happen. Just glad they at least got one cat done. read more

Second time I had a bad experience here I brang my dog spent $74 plus a tip and my dogs sanitary area wasnt groomed I brang him back a hour later to have it fixed he had him in with a 70 flea collar was not on him they tell me he never had it on when they groomed him he did I never take it off and if you forgot to clean and cut his sanitary area I wouldn't take their word for it and I had to bring him back a hour later and they didn't cut the fur in his mouth and the last bad experience I had visit they didn't cut around his paws very dissatisfied will not bring him back again , very unprofessional I complained and I told them I would not be coming back and now today they text me and said he bit one of them this is the first time I heard about it what 5 days later he's never bitten anyone in his life , never again smh read more

They are terrible. They scheduled me for 2:30 to have my dog groomed. I arrived at 2:30 waited in line until 2:40, then they said they were too busy Ans because I was late they wouldn't take my dog. After I mentioned that I was waiting in line for all that time. They changed their tune and said he was booked at 2, not 2:30. It's just not true. I booked the appointment and scheduled it my calendar. I repeated it before I got off of the phone to make sure we had the correct time. They gave me trouble when I was booking and again now. The First Lady had a missing front tooth giving me a fish that was literally swimming sideways and then proceeded to swear at me when I said it looks like it's going to die when I look at it. The second trip I was denied a sale for frog food and when I asked for another goldfish after the first one had passed the "manager" told me that she felt uncomfortable because the half dead fish passed. Recently relocated to this Petco and this is my favorite one so far. We've tried 4 other locations and this one was the most polite and welcoming. I have never had a problem when we come to buy items or groom our maltipoo. We have always had exceptional service around the entire store. Athena loves coming here and getting to meet everyone. Yeah the store's a little smelly, a little dirty but let's be honest, every single pet store is like that, especially in ones where you can bring your precious friend around the store so freely. Extra Extra! Order online on your account and go pick-up in store. You save a little $$ off of your purchase and it saves time if you're in a hurry. If you're really weird like we are, you can look around the store and shop on your phone. Then, you can chill at the other stores until Petco emails you that your items are ready! read more

I'm really disappointed. Went here with my pup. Was going through the clearance clothes for him, and found something I liked. Well it wasn't marked down and I wanted to make sure it was on clearance so I knew what the price was either way. Well I was told to wait cause the guy was busy which is fine. While looking further in the bin and at dog collars, I guess my dog peed. Which again is fine cause I always clean up after my dog. A store associate came up to me while walking by and just states "the dog clean up area is over there" and just points. Now my fiancé and I are distracted so we didn't see where she said it was or where the lady came from. Now when I called to speak to someone about how the associate went about it I found out she's a manger. I'm disappointed, I left the store and didn't buy anything. ​ I visited Petco on Bald Hill Road in Warwick yesterday and was very disappointed . The bird cages were not clean at all nor were the birds . Tail feathers were jagged and dirty . The salesperson could not give me a good history of the birds indicating that she wasn't sure which of documentation went with which bird. She did not know that a hand fed baby bird is preferred and reported the birds recieved very little interaction at all with the staff outside of feeding. The water dishes were filthy, there were no bird baths and she reported they did not mist the birds either. The toys were dirty and limited to one per cage. She did not know what food brand the birds received yet stated the birds needed to be gradually transitioned to a new food when purchased. She was curt, abrupt and rude. When I requested the store manager, I received no greeting, only a statement that the birds were not for sale because they were not healthy. The manager was rude, dirty in her appearance, disheveled actually, which reflected the condition of the entire store. I was greatly disappointed but glad to leave, though concerned about the birds. Sorry to have to leave this kind of review, however, it must be made known to the owner. read more

I went in to have my dog's nails trimmed, this takes about 10 minutes to do. So in the past I have had no issues with being turned away due to lack of staffing, dog adoptions taking place, or being at capacity in the groomers but this was different. Today I went in and the woman behind the groomers counter advised me that I now need an appointment due to COVID, this is news to me. I pleaded with her, telling her the difficulties I have had getting down there in the first place, she says there is no way she can assist, her next appointment will be there any minute. My poor pup needs it worse than normal due to COVID in the first place and for those of you who have dogs, you know you cannot take them anywhere, you need the rabies paperwork which I don't have on hand, it's on file at Petco. 10 yrs plus - I have been coming here buying all my pet toys, pet food, and grooming - never again. I waited to see when her next appointment got there and she could have done two dogs in that time, so either she is the worst pet groomer on the planet or was just lazy. The entire time I was in the store she just sat there, doing nothing, making eye contact with me as I looked into the empty grooming area. This employee lacked compassion, empathy, and common sense. She obviously does not care about animals given her cold demeanor and the way she brushed me off and stared me down while I waited in the store. Not sure how the appointment protects anyone, I still walked into the tiny grooming area, spent 5-10 mins discussing the situation with this useless employee. I would suggest this policy be reevaluated and would also suggest they communicate these changes to all of their regular customers instead of turning them away. Or maybe they squeeze them in when they can? Even on Yelp- it says "in person visits" with no comment for appointment only. read more

I purchased a ball python for my daughter a few weeks ago and shorty realized the snake was invested with mites , not the greatest strat to our reptile journey!!! Knowing there was mites in its enclosure at the store it proves that other snakes have them too. The snake was also very malnourished and quite skinny.. he wouldn't eat or interact with us. I feel my daughters love for reptiles has decreased with this experience. Buying this snake caused us lots of extra money and time and was very unhealthy to begin with. I suggest when buying a reptile to buy it from trusted breeders or stores like 401 reptiles!!! read more

Horrible just plain horrible . Anyone who is buying a pet is because they appreciate animals , and see them as family so they should want them in the best condition EVER so don't go here. Walking into this Petco I was mortified to the smell of this place I KNOW it's a pet store but it shouldn't smell like a dead body. Unless you wear a mask I recommend not coming here. I have 3 pets so buying stuff for them all the time is a must so I was going into here to get a few things . I had such a horrible experience the staff Is great don't get me wrong but this place is traumatizing ! Me and my fiancé were looking at the lizards ( I have a bearded dragon) , anyways I had to have been like an inch from my fiancé when I saw something jump out the cage onto the floor I freaked out it was a HUGE cricket. Now answer this for me how did a huge cricket manage to get out the cage when the lizard was almost just as small. So basically that lizard could get out just as easy as the cricket. And this is what gets me and I will be writing to someone of higher power of this. ALL the animals cages , and I mean EVERY species cages looked so sad. No food , no attention are given to these animals you can tell by how aggressive they were. For example bearded dragon babies are not supposed to eat LARGE meal worms or large pieces of lettuce and this is what was going on here . I was taught this because I have one and the worms heads are supposed to be cut off because babies can't digest. So as I watched a dragon swallow a worm I saw the worm move in his stomach now remember what I said being that small they can't digest it and that means the worms can stay inside the belly and eat the actual dragon from inside out. Now let me tell you about the Parrot ! I also have a bird too. The parrot and all bird cages were mortifying , they had no food , and the toys that were for them were on the bottom of the cage how is that of use to them? They also looked so scared and vicious at the same time. I swear the only thing good about this place was the customer service the lady who helped me was great. But going in there and seeing that only the rats there live great I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone not even a homeless person looking to buy a fish. Stay away from this place . read more

Had gotten a fish and it died within 12 hours. Had nothing to do with my water seeing how my other fish were thriving in the tank. I called and spoke to a man that guaranteed a refund. I forgot to catch his name and called back 15 minutes later. A women picked up and would not tell me the name of the associate and asked what it was about and proceeded to tell me she wouldn't do anything about it. Their associates need to learn policies before telling customers they can receive a refund. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAD A FISH DIE WITHIN 12 HOURS OF PURCHASING. I have had nothing but the best experiences here! We had taken our dog here two years ago, when we adopted him, for training. When we inquired about the classes, Shayne immediately greeted us, and explained how the training is accomplished, and then started to interact with our dog. She made done helpful suggestions as to which class (he was an older puppy) would be best. Two years later, we went back with a rescue puppy, and our lab. We discussed the girls if what we were looking for (the puppy was learning bad behavior from her older bother), and helped us by doing a class with both of them to learn (and relearn) the behaviors we want them to express. Shayne is always excited to see the dogs, and they definitely respond very well to her training. read more

went in 2 weeks ago to look at fish w my 2 yr old son. i took note of the selection and came back a week later (monday morning march 13) with a betta in mind. we found the fish but as i went to pick a container up a squirrelly young lady approached me saying things and asking questions abruptly. im a stay at home father and i work full time at night. my spare time is extremely limited and im severely exhausted. it would seem she doubted my ability to care for 1 fish because i didn't answer her questions accurately/ fast enough. before i knew it she was holding multiple things and insinuating i wont be leaving with a fish without also purchasing all additional products as well. if i had gotten a moment to speak id have explained that after our purchasing of the betta fish and temporary tank, i was buying all necessary products(from amazon) with information i get (from google). i dont have time to split hairs with someone playing gatekeeper for beta fish. condescendingly saying "bYyYyEeE sORrY bUdDy" to my son multiple times as i left the store without a fish, is why i downloaded yelp, to leave this review. private business can refuse anyone, i get that, but your employee made that visit feel like gamestop being run by an adolescent car salesman. never going back. read more

Petco survives I guess by having a decent selection in one place. It definitely isn't their prices! Some of the highest I've found in the area - even the sales aren't that good. You do get bonus reward coupons, etc. But by the time you've overspent in the first place, those rewards aren't worth all that much. On a positive note, the cashier at the Quaker Lane location is very friendly and fun to chat with. But, I tend to go to Petco mostly as a last resort if I'm right in the area. read more

So I ended up here after the other Petco in Cranston didn't have a few things that I needed. I returned to this store because an employee named Marcus was very kind and informative the last time I was in here. He wasn't in today but I did get what I was looking for and got a few new fish that I've been trying to purchase for a while! A freshwater leopard puffer fish!!! It really made my day, even though the fish jumped out of the girls little tank she puts them in after she catches them... twice.... he seems ok but I will keep an eye on him. Overall, she was kind and informative, but she just seemed a little nervous, especially after the fish took a few spills. When we checked out, a wonderful woman by the name of Diane took care of us. She was absolutely the sweetest lady and made my kids smile and laugh the whole time I was at the register! She had a love for dragons and my 9 year old son thought that was just the coolest! She also told them some great facts about birds while I cashed out and then gave them treats in a little bag for their dog They didn't want to leave! KARLAH IS THE GROOMER I MEASURE ALL OTHER GROOMERS AGAINST. After nearly a year as an "outdoor" dog, Blue's coat was radically different: wolfy, coarse, and ultra dense. I didn't hesitate to reach out to this Petco after we got back to the area. (Why fix what ain't broken, right?) Asking for Karlah specifically, we had to wait a few days to get in. She was worth the wait. -- Blue's winter undercoat was so thick, a white cloud of choky fur would erupt every time you pet him. After grooming: no more mess. -- His coat was so coarse, it was threatening to turned matted before the winter was over. After grooming: no more knots/matting. -- His "outdoor" coat was fully functional -- but too coarse to pet easily. After grooming: his coat was SILKY to the touch! Add on top of that a great scent and cute bandana, and you've got a real ladykiller on your hands. :D Add on top of THAT the lowest price I've EVER paid for grooming -- and a groomer who genuinely cares for each of her furry little charges -- and I am genuinely sorry to leave her behind. I was looking for a leash advertised online, it was on sale and in stock in the Warwick location store. I couldn't find it so I asked the cashier, the only associate I saw, who just said she didn't know, it should be over there, she really didn't know. I thought she would either help me look or page someone to assist me. I already looked where she was pointing. I look one more time, went to leave frustrated thinking I won't go to this location again. I'll order online. When I was walking out I saw another associate, Ashley, and asked her. She was returning from her break. I felt horrible catching her before she was even clocked in, but she reassured me it was fine. Assisted me to finding what I was looking for, it wasn't the exact thing but close enough, and she priced matched it for me, in the store it didn't have the sale price. Anyways she saved a sale and a customer. She was friendly and helpful. Turned my frustration completely around. I had placed an order online you picked up in the store and for some reason it didn't go through on their end and they wouldn't honor the coupon code in the store!!! Definitely unhappy with that customer service and wouldn't recommend them! When someone is purchasing an expensive bag of dog food and can't honor the 10% discount that they should have gotten if they purchase it online and picked up in the store seems a little ridiculous to me but that's fine I will bring my business out there after this!!! read more

I take my pup to Petco grooming regularly. Brianna is my go to groomer. She is great about squeezing my dog in for last minute appointments. Had a great experience with Brianna in the grooming department. She was very knowledgeable, seemed very kind and sweet to our Irish Setter (who left with his tail wagging, instead of between his legs like it was at the last groomer he went to!) and seemed very meticulous. She found 2 ticks on my dog and dropped what she was doing and went to get tweezers to remove them. The pricing was great, almost 1/2 of what I had been charged previously at a private groomer and he came home smelling lovely, well groomed and trimmed and his ears were cleaned better than I have ever seen. I had brought my pup in for a walk-in service and loved it there! So I decided to book a grooming appointment which was a wash, nails trimmed, ears, and brush out. The only thing that was extra from the walk-in service was the wash so I figured it would take about a half hour, so I scheduled an appointment online. I showed up and they tell me it'll be a couple of hours! Why would be walk-in service be 15 mins but to add a wash it's a couple of hours?! Ok so I got over that and figured things to do with my 6 year old for 2 hours. Then I picked my pup, we get in the car and we start driving home. My 6 year old starts yelling in the backseat that she has poop all over her leg and that there is some on the seat! So I have to pull the car over and clean everyone up from the poop. When I got home I went into my room to change for bed and the dog jumped up on the bed and got poop on my bed! I thought I had cleaned her all up but apparently not. Needless to say my first experience of getting my dog groomed at Petco did not go well! I also called the store to let them know what happened and I was told they would leave a message for the grooming manager, and someone would call me back the next day but I never heard from anyone. I will not be bringing my pup back there for a grooming service again! read more

Sold me coral with Aiptasia. Infested my tank and killed my Clownfish. Pistol shrimp died when I removed the live rock to clear them. Didn't know it was inside. Everyone at this store is so nice and helpful. I bring my dog to their play group (many days/times to choose from AND free!)... They know my dog and me by name and always come to say hi. Everyone really seems to love their job. They are a bit expensive like the other post says but they give out free samples and I've gotten a lot of coupons from them--even at the cash register without asking. Their dog trainer, Katie, is great! So helpful and really knows her stuff. Love this place and so does my dog! read more

I have been bringing my dog to Petco grooming for 8 years or so. I have never had a problem and they have done a good job until today. Today when I went in they asked if the dog is on meds. He recently started meds for liver issues related to taking rimadyl. So they say they can't groom a dog that is on medication. That is so absurd. Obviously if the dog weren't well enough to be groomed I wouldn't have brought him. Most dogs are on some sort of medication. To say any medication could put the dog at risk during the grooming process shows a lack of knowledge on the part of Petco. read more

The cat food our cats like is only available in the pet store, not the grocery stores, so I have a choice between PetSmart and Petco. Both have a rewards program. PetSmart has lower prices and lore locations. Petco is not providing good competition for them. Recently, I had a $5 off on $25 or more and stopped by a Petco on my lunch hour. There was one cashier who asked the customer if she would like to join the rewards program. It takes too long to complete the form while other wait. The man behind me was just as perturbed but he actually left before I did when another cashier eventually showed up and the cashier who assisted me failed to use the coupon and didn't know how to fix it. It doesn't help either when it takes the supervisor quite some time to fix it. No one was apologetic; I don't mean you have to profusely apologize, but also, the demeanor was very nonchalant. There was no sense of urgency when I made it clear this was my lunch period and I did not want to be late back to work. To make things worse, the supervisor commented smugly, "Everyone has to be new sometime." Really? That's your excuse for the poor service?!?!? Now I know where to shop - I'm going to PetSmart. read more
