We came here after a recommendation from a local. It is reservations only but Peter was nice enough to fit us in same day as we called. The wines were all delicious. We did a tasting for $17. A wonderful experience, Ponta (sp?) delightfully poured the wines as we sat on the benches eating our own picnic fare. A nice change after the more formal & fancy Rams Gate. The rose was crisp and refreshing, despite my usual distaste for rose wine. Plus, there's a bocce ball court! read more

While the winery is small, the wine is as "big" as it gets! We visited many wineries on our Sonoma tour and while the larger wineries are impressive with their grounds, staff, cellars, etc., nothing could beat the WINE from Peter Cellars. The Sonoma Valley Cab was my favorite; nothing short of GREATNESS! Peter is a charming guy that knows his wines and he'll be there to tell you all about them, which is not what you get from the larger wineries. Make an appointment...it's worth it! read more

Peter was delightfully British and wonderful. I love that we tasted his wines on his property near beautiful olive trees and grape vines. His loving dog ran around giving kisses to guests that welcomed it. Being able to chat with the guy who actually grew, picked, and made the wine was really spectacular. I'd like to echo all the other Yelpers' reviews of Peter Cellars for it was a refreshing and relaxing wine tasting experience. Peter of the eponymous vineyard greeted a group of six of us, plus two dogs whom he immediately took a liking to and allowed to go off-leash and explore the vineyard. I really cannot emphasize how much my dog enjoyed frolicking in the field and meeting the vineyard dog. Then, Peter took us on a grand exploration of two Pinot Noirs, a Syrah, a Merlot, and then finally a Cab. All of them were delicious and refined to the palette. We ended up purchasing the 2011 Pinot and the 2011 Sonoma Valley Syrah, because they literally took my breath away. Lastly, I have to say that Peter Cellars is the best of Sonoma and Napa. Napa wine tasting is more of the intimate, appointment-only experience, but more of a high brow tasting. Peter Cellars was just that except for any of the Napa conceited attitude. The experience was small and cozy, but with a relaxed attitude. Also, Peter Cellars has a small tasting room and a lovely patio with tables and low and high chairs. It was very laid back with Peter and his apprentice introducing the wines but not with an overbearing experience. I truly believe that Peter Cellars is as good as it gets! read more

This small, family-owned winery was a fun stop during our Sonoma trip last week. Peter does all the tastings himself, and is very knowledgeable, friendly and easy to talk to. Most importantly, his wines are FANTASTIC! The vibe is low-key, and there's a nice, covered outdoor patio where you can enjoy your tastings leisurely. I've been a member of their wine club now for several years. I've not had a bad wine yet and my particular favorite is their cabernet. Quite honestly I think it's underpriced, but don't tell Peter that. We'll just keep that a secret. Peter gave us the tasting himself in the morning and let us stay to eat our picnic with a bottle of wine we bought onsite. Great experience in constraint with the big commercial wineries that push you in and out in 40 minutes. We stayed for 2 hours. Also awesome winery dog who plays fetch! read more

We had read reviews about this winery and wanted to check it out. We loved how down to earth and genuine Peter was. He welcomed us into his back yard where he makes his own wine. We thought it was so impressive that the wine maker poured his own wine. And Peter has the SWEETEST golden retriever Rupert that will keep you company while you try some great wine. read more

Quaint little family operation. The house was a bit tricky to find. They have no signs from the road, so we had to go by mailbox numbers. We caught Peter on his way out at the end if the day (apparently they prefer appointments) but he was nice enough to quickly show us some of his facilities. He didn't have enough time for a tasting, but did recommend another vineyard down the road. I would probably come by again with an appointment if I'm in the area. It seems like a very relaxing place to have a drink. Also I think they have reds only, which isn't a problem for me. read more

This place was so cool. We were greeted as soon as we got out of our car with a sampling of a refreshing Rose. A minute later we were sitting down in the patio while the different wines kept coming from inside the building. This place was hard to find but so worth the 2 U-turns. We stopped by this one man shop during our wine tour. We met the owner/wine maker and tasted some of his wines. Mostly reds. He showed us the wine barrels and gave us a brief lesson. Gorgeous, family-owned vineyard. Small, intimidate setting and friendly owner, who poured for us and gave the details of each wine. Excellent wine, especially the bone dry rose. I visited this small vineyard and was pleasantly surprised about the set up and location. It allows for a comfortable outdoor setting to enjoy the wine. He only makes red wines, which I am actually a white wine kinda gal. But I ended up enjoying his reds so much that I purchased a Syrah! Next time I visit Sonoma I will def visit again. read more

We stopped in San Francisco for two days prior to our trip to Asia to visit some wineries along the way. We book reservations at Peter Cellar's not knowing much about the wines or the place. It was a small friendly family oriented vineyard and Peter was an outstanding host. Peter shared his life story and his passion for wine. We enjoyed visiting and tasting the wines at Peter Cellar's so much that we bought 2 bottles immediately for our trip. Peter Cellar's was our first stop. After touring around Sonoma attending other tastings we decided to go back to Peter Cellars for two more bottles to stuff in our luggage. Glad we did because Peter's wine was outstanding. Now that we have return we will ordering more of wine for our home in Florida. read more

This is the best off-the-grid winery in Sonoma. Right as we walked in Peter came up and introduced himself. We didn't have a reservation but he snuck us in anyway (for which I promised a good Yelp review, here it is Peter!) But it's not just his charm, the wine really lives up to five stars. The tastings are only $5 but the wine was better than some much more expensive tastings I've done in the area. We had to buy a few bottles and I will definitely be back. read more
