Honestly, one of the best breakfasts I've had in a hot minute. Our server was absolutely stunning! I never caught her name but it was a gal with black hair with blonde ends and glasses, she deserves all the credit in the world for putting up with our party of 7. The food was fantastic! Just one note about the traditional milkshake I got here. I had about 25 mins. to kill on a BART - Caltrain transfer. I informed the waitress of this and promptly the waitress retrieved a milkshake for me. Slightly pricey at $3.95, it was worth the milk and sugar. Food is so good we came here for a brunch . I got Swedish pancakes an egg and sausage for about 12.00 the pancakes were delicious. My son enjoyed the French toast and he liked it also. People are friendly and coffee was hot. Will be back soon. read more

Peter's reminds me of that one non-chain place when you're on a road trip and your other choices are Denny's, McD's or Taco Bell. It's basically one step above the others, and doesn't rise to the high level of, say, Pea Soup Andersen's. (But what else does?) Peter's is the place you go to when you're on your way home from a bar or club at 2am and can't stomach the idea of Denny's. Unfortunately, that's pretty much what everyone else is thinking, too. There was a wait for a table when we were there late on a Saturday night. The food was hot and OK and came out quickly. Our omelettes were absolutely ginormous. Prices are very reasonable. This place is very cute. Welcoming wait staff who are eager to serve. A great selection of your traditional diner foods plus a little extra. And very fast service. Their strawberry milkshake is delicious. Right amount of creaminess, a touch of sweetness, and you can actually taste strawberries. Their fries are well seasoned, not too salty, and the right balance of crispness on the outside and softness in the middle. I also had their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, and it was decent. It probably could've used a little more gooey cheese to top it off. The main problem I had with the place was the arrangement of the tables. I sat in a booth with my boyfriend, and there was this one-sided booth that was pointing right at us. It was a little awkward eating there with an entire family staring at you while waiting for their food. Other than the "unique" feng shui of the tables, I think I like this place. =) read more

This is my goto place for breakfast when I am in the area. I have dining with Peter when he was a small shop on another street. Getting bigger definitely lowered the quality but breakfast still rocks. A little over priced but how else you going to pay for the bigger rent. Came here from breakfast today and I loved it. I had eggs with home made spicy sausage. $8 bucks I think. homefrieds & toast. I would return here again for breakfast but also for lunch or dinner. Just plain good food. We didn't wait and nobody moved us along even though there were people waiting. Not bad for a Sunday morning. This place is historic to Millbrae and definitely a land mark. Does not look too attractive outside but definitely worth going into. Great lighting inside and corner view of outside . I used to come here all the time as a kid and after 10 years coming back to my home town it was awesome coming back. I recognized the owner and few of the servers . Great food and coffee. Had the eggs, bacon and sausage and it was spot on. A carafe if coffee is placed in front of you and you fill up your old school brown ceramic mug. This place is very traditional American diner and is what made me love going to diners still today. The city of Millbrae has changed over the years with new buildings and chain restaurants but it is great that places like this remain and still stand. read more

This was my first time here. Service was super fast. They took my order and before I knew it,i was being served. The mushroom swiss burger I ordered was perfect. It was juicy and flavorful. Last Friday, the Caltrain had major delays and I was starving. I heard the train was to come in 15 minutes and really wanted something to eat, so I decided to quickly explore around the station. Luckily, there was life around the station and I decided to try my luck at this cafe literally right across the tracks, hoping to get a quick tasty meal to go. The lady at the front desk was just the sweetest. She knew I wanted a quick meal and assured me the food would come in less than 10 minutes, but it came in about 5. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with a side of potato salad. She gave me a side of ranch on the house after ordering. It was such a nice gesture. The way my meal was prepared, the staff's warmth, understanding and friendliness made my night, especially since I wasn't having the best day and was dead tired and hungry. Came in on a Sunday morning. 3 people total. Pro: -restaurant seems clean -server greeted us -server gave us enough time to look at the menu -server is friendly and polite -foods came out quick -the only plate that is hot and tasty was the Loco Moco -open late Con: -2 persons' foods are warm/cold -hair on the plate (eww!!) -server's hand touched the hashbrown when she was putting the plate down (enough said...) -hash brown and omelette were not crispy at all (omelette literally overcooked/burnt, and looks like home-cooked ugly scrambled eggs! Hashbrown tastes like mashed potato, saggy, mushy...in other words, presentation and quality of foods are bad. I can cook the same things at home, and I'm very bad at cooking.) -The pancake's presentation doesn't look good either (light yellow colored pancakes, anyone?$ Taste is okay. -1 person finished the water before foods arrived. The cup is emptied, no one brothers to refill it, or come and ask if everything is fine, until at the end. Bottomline, Customer's service is friendly, but not very attentive. 2 out of 3 plates are tasteless/colorless/cold. 1 plate is delicious. Food came out fast. As for us, we probably wouldn't come back, unless absolutely necessary. Since this is a local restaurant, we'd probably choose this over Denny's or IHOP. Otherwise, we'd prefer Millbrae Pancake House instead, only down side is they open until afternoon only. read more

When I'm looking for brunch I judge a place by their pancakes. Good pancakes are a sign of a good diner and Peter's got 'em. We usually go to Nini's but they were packed so we swung by Christie's and they were packed as well. I think Stack's is very mediocre and the last time I went to Millbrae House of Pancakes the service was awful. My wife and I have been meaning to try Peter's for a while because it's never full but never empty and close by. For a diner this place was great, the pancakes were fluffy, the hash browns lightly browned, crisp on the top and the sausage was greasy and delicious. My wife's scrambled eggs looked nice as well.The coffee was good and strangely the ice water didn't taste like it was dredged up from the dish water like some places. We have a 2-year old so the brisk service was to our liking and when we got there we were seated immediately with 3 other families in the vicinity and crayons with paper ready for coloring. We'll definitely be going back. Nini's has our heart but it's not every day we're up early enough to get there before the line starts. read more

After my family spent the night at Grandma's house in Burlingame, the ones who stayed throughout the day got to go to breakfast for free. I looked on yelp for a bit but I decided to let my grandma choose since she never really goes out to eat. She suggested this place, she's been here a few times with her buddies. This is a throwback diner that is actually a real diner style not some modernized pretend-diner. My party of two was interested in a not so large breakfast ahead of an early afternoon SFO flight and this place definitely delivered. We ended up splitting the omelette (DELICIOUS) which included hashbrowns (DELICIOUS) and two smaller size pancakes (DELICIOUS). I think they use real potatoes for the hash browns but sad to say they use frozen blueberries for their pancakes. And I'll just say the coffee is.... coffee. The service was fast and the booths were comfy. In traditional diner style it wasn't some kind of fancy gourmet breakfast, the food was greasy, the price was awesome, and the atmosphere was divey- authentic! We needed to kill some time and feed our daughter before picking up her sister from a flight, and yelp led us to Peter's Cafe. Only minutes from SFO, the location was super convenient. Don't let the outside appearance fool you, the food was great and the service was too. A little odd in the decor department, but charming (in a weird way). They have a HUGE menu with way too much to choose from. After considering everything under the sun, I ended up with an avocado cheeseburger that was sinfully good. The fries were great, right amount of crisp and good seasoning, and the ranch dressing... Awesome. I'm a big ranch snob and hate most bottled varieties (they taste like plastic to me), but whatever they use for their ranch is fantastic. Why did I need ranch? To dip my burger and fries in of course... The service was good, the kids menu had just enough choices, and the hostess was kind enough to give me the keys to the locked 'extra' bathroom to take my still-potty-training toddler (twice). This is a true diner, and my only note would be that it didn't look super sparkly clean. It wasn't filthy and I had no qualms about eating what I was served, but it could have used a good wipe down. Then again, it's a diner... What did I expect? We will certainly go back the next time we are around SFO. read more

Pete's a really cool guy and the location doesn't hold the usual pretensions that Stacks usually does. Wait staff was extremely friendly on my last visit and was very accommodating given the time constraints we were under. Ironically we decided to eat at Pete's because Stack's was unnecessarily full. Should you be lucky Pete may actually be on staff when you dine. Pete while the owner is extremely friendly and you can really tell he puts the love behind the service and food he produces. As for the food, I ordered a simple Eggs benedict that was cooked to perfection. You have to be careful with Eggs benedict to ensure that while the outside of the yolk is firm while retaining a waterly consistency. Luckily the cooks at Pete's are skilled enough to do this, which is no easy feat. read more

Oh, Peter's Cafe. I love the decor of the place. The seating is reminiscent of poodle skirts and sock hop days. The food is actually pretty good and the service is not bad either. It's been a while since I was last here so my review may be a little choppy. The first time I came here, I had some patty and eggs breakfast dish. It was decent. The hamburger patty was good and didn't taste like it had come right out of the freezer like I had expected and the eggs were... eggs. Can't really rate eggs too much. Pancakes are pretty good. Boyfriend got an omelet and it was huge. He says it was good. Second time I came here, I had the chicken fried steak. It was average. Nothing special, but not bad. Overall, if you're looking for some place that's not IHOP or Denny's for breakfast, make the trip out to Millbrae for Peter's. read more

I love dive spots to get great grub and I will highlight some of the really cool places I great up with here in Los Angeles in my next book. Too bad this place is not in LA because it would be in my book. We met friends here for breakfast and as soon as we walked in I knew we'd have a great meal. From the first cup of coffee I drank I was pleased. The flavor of the coffee was smooth and fresh. I ordered one of my favorites, Chicken Fried Steak and I was so happy. I wish there was a such thing as seconds. The entire meal was awesome and the service was great. The food here is more thoughtful than you would think. The grilled turkey and cheese for example. The turkey is not that paper thin deli stuff, it's thick slices that they GRILL INDIVIDUALLY" to make it yummier. They serve it with cranberry sauce and it is really satisfying. The potato salad has fresh dill in it. I absolutely love the ambiance and I hope they never "update" their look. Excellent friendly service. Neighborhood folk. Me like. 03/2013 update: Tried entrees and not so good. Some sort of chicken "with wine sauce" and a baked potato. Edible/meh, flavorless sauce.. I decided to try this place since it was so close to my church. I went here with my family. The parking is pretty nice with a lot that can fit a number of cars. The staff was pretty professional and nice. The food was reasonably cheap and the quality of the food was great too. The place is clean and it accommodates those who have a disability too. This place is exactly what you want from a diner- friendly staff (who will remember you when you come back), a variety of food (that they are willing to customize to any level), an odd assortment of decorations and memorabilia, and that homey/community feel you don't get from a big box restaurant. On top of that they always have interesting specials and a fantastic standard menu. Their portions are huge...good thing I have a very good appetite because my omelet came with pancakes too. The pictures were right on the money. I came here again for a late night snack and recieved to the same amazing service as before. Instead of pie, I opted for a cheeseburger with a sprite. The cheeseburger was juicy and filling. It relieved my late night hunger( first world problem) and craving for salt. It wasn't the food that led me to this four star reviews but the service. I was served by the same waitress before. She has to be the nicest person I have met. I learned that her name is Serena. Make sure to ask for her when you go. I learned from Serena that the restaurant has been there for 17 years. After all these years, they haven't changed a thing. I hope that they stay the same in the future. To wrap it all up, Peters is a cute diner with a decent amount of food choices with splendid service. I will most certainly come back if I return to San Francisco:) read more

Made the mistake of ordering a turkey dinner . Ugh processed salty turkey , bland stuffing , bland gravy , old soft corn no rolls so disappointed . Food for thought take care of your regulars at least once a year. Roast turkeys and cook a traditional turkey dinner with tlc. I actually thought about returning the food for a refund but instead I just know not to get a turkey dinner at Peters anymore. I think I'll go find a homeless person it make there day. read more
