My wife and I stopped by Cafe Valer on a Sunday morning and were thoroughly impressed. The menu is extensive, the service is fast and friendly, and the entire space--inside and out--is spotless and well-kept. We grabbed a table on the patio under the umbrellas. Portions are generous and the food is outstanding. My wife ordered the Chipotle Breakfast Avocado Panini with a Raw Sugar Caramel Shaken Iced Oat Milk Latte, and I had the Steak & Egg Burrito with a Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Everything was packed with flavor. We were too full to try dessert, but that just gives us an excuse to return :D This is easily my new go-to lunch spot whenever I'm in the West Covina area. Severely overrated, omg. Wife and I came in for a sandwich and boy was this place underwhelming. First red flag we noticed is that they use Lavazza machines for their coffee drinks. Lavazza might as well be the sugary gimmicks Starbucks can pull off on their best days. You're paying for the name, not the quality of your drinks. Next red flag was the counters behind the 'baristas.' They were stocked with buckets of sugary ingredients like some store bought cookie butter stacked on top of some other store bought 'dubai' butter. That seemed a bit unsanitary and, frankly, kinda sloppy. Last red flag were the sad, sauce-soaked paninis we got. In fact, they were probably the worst paninis we've ever had. Our chicken chipotle avocado panini was drenched in what clearly tasted like store-bought chipotle sauce and the chicken just tasted like reheated chopped breasts (I mean I wouldn't blame them, they're a cafe, not a kitchen.) The mango habanero panini was even worse in that it was more drenched in what also tasted like store-bought habanero sauce, making the panini a dripping mess. But the choice of using what tasted like candied dried mango slices in the sandwich was awful. The flavors just did not marry and it's likely because this is what happens when you have a great idea, but use crap and cheap ingredients to craft something. Maybe they are better known for some other dishes, but the fact that they use store-bought sauces on their sandwiches is pretty tacky. Overall, this place is all hype and no heart. Just a steady flow of clout-chasing customers akin to those that frequent Starbucks as part of a lifestyle. Don't fall for the hype. It's okay to not like something that the masses do. read more

Just wanted to see what this cafe was about with all the rave reviews... We were coming in from Vegas and this was our stop. Cute cafe with lots of brunch options and drinks. Service was excellent which is why they get the stars but the food was MEH. My husband got the grilled garlic pesto panini...he was not fan of the red peppers...it didn't really have the pesto and he didn't like the red peppers... I think you don't need the peppers for this to be honest. Also he said he couldn't taste garlic. I was looking forward to my spicy chicken Cesar wrap but it was not good. The chicken was more loaded on one side, the avocado on the other side and I couldn't even taste the Cesar dressing...the lettuce was taking over the whole wrap. I felt cheated on my chicken. It was super busy when I got there. The line was literally to the door and stayed like that the whole time, plus there were tons of takeout orders being called out. There's an entrance from inside the mall and another from outside, which is convenient. Because of how packed it was, the place felt very crammed, and there honestly weren't many indoor seats available. They did have some outdoor seating though. They also have a huge variety of drinks and pastries/food, which I liked. I didn't really interact with the staff much since everyone was clearly hustling. I got the triple shot iced Americano and let me tell you... it was STRONG in the best way. Wow this place really lives up to the hype. My friend said it was good and I remember seeing it on TikTok. Despite how busy it was the drink was deliciously made. We got the salted banana drink and the vanilla bean ice latte with strawberry cold foam and both were gasss. The triple shot americano with espresso cold foam was good but not my cup of coffee haha, if you like strong coffee then I recommend it. I tried café valet on a random tuesday due to all the hype and wanted to see what it was all about. I have always passed by this spot in the mall however it never caught my attention enough to try. Even on a weekday it was still jam packed with a line almost out the door. The cafe is tiny with barely any space to move and with most of the seating being outside. As soon as it was my turn to order, I was told food would be a 30-45 minute wait. I decided to stick to out since I was already there. I had the blackberry tea, a slice of chocolate cake, and the "viral" chicken Caesar wrap. The tea was delicious and a pretty big size for the price. Had a great sandwich today! When I walked in, the place was packed with hungry customers. I ordered a ham and cheese on toasted sourdough sandwich. They brought it out to me quicker than expected, as I waited outside on their nice little patio with red umbrellas. The sandwich was packed full with ham and sharp cheddar cheese. I had a good experience at Cafe Valer (West Covina). I ordered the Honey Vanilla Latte ($6.75 - Large - 20oz - hot). Its caffeine is uplifting, resilient, and soft. The taste is smooth, comparable to foamy hot cocoa. It's a hot, lightly-sweetened, & tasty coffee. I arrived at Cafe Valer (West Covina) on Friday (around 9AM - opening time). Parking is easy since this storefront faces the West Covina Mall Parking Structure. Staff is professional, hard working, and welcoming. Staff (receipt says Rosalva) answered all my questions. In addition, Rosalva quickly assisted when I noticed a problem. The Honey Vanilla Latte was being charged 25 cents more in the system; the default register price did not match the posted menu. Thankfully, Rosalva tactfully fixed the issue and expressed thanks for the observation. Another male staff member even offered more apologies and offered a quarter which was a kind gesture. To my immense surprise, Cafe Valer (West Covina) is very popular. Since 9AM, a non-stop flow of customers kept arriving. I observed police officers, nurses, mall employees, families, and couples pour into this small business. Cafe Valer (West Covina) gave the immediate impression of a local community hotspot. Staff is also alert. After one table had dropped small bits of trash on the floor, Staff quickly appeared with a broom to clean. Despite the many customers, Staff stayed focused and diligent. When ready, Staff calls the customer's name for "drink pick up." My drink took four minutes and 13 seconds. Good pace. As mentioned, I enjoyed the Honey Vanilla Latte ($6.75 - Large - 20oz - hot). This coffee is not bitter nor overly sweet. Its top is fluffy while its liquid is smooth and hot. It's a pleasant soft coffee roast flavor with an aftertaste of honey. Although its caffeine is not potent, there's a gentle, welcomed amount. Concerning ambiance, Cafe Valer (West Covina) is old, but it's clean. Its appearance is a hybrid between a hospital cafeteria and Grandma's cafe. The interior is small. There's about four small glass tables inside, but they're worn-down with age. There's a couple more tables outside. The floors are very clean, and the interior is well-ventilated. Cafe Valer (West Covina) lacks electrical outlets. After searching, I found only one electrical outlet on the outside patio near a table with cobwebs. This small business also gets Free Wifi Internet from the West Covina Mall (aka: Plaza West Covina). This small business has no restroom, and the music is very loud. Powerful, booming Christmas music echoed throughout this location. If I were to nitpick, it's also strange how there's a big analog clock that doesn't show the correct time too. Overall, I had a good experience at Cafe Valer (West Covina). It's definitely a welcoming atmosphere where people can loudly chat or order-and-leave. Decided to give this place a try because of TikTok and it didn't disappoint! The cafe is inside the mall but there's an outdoor entrance. I ordered the Spicy Caesar Wrap on a spinach tortilla. I asked the worker for a side of caesar dressing and they were more than happy to give me one. I would say I definitely needed the dressing and wouldn't be able to just eat it as is. I've been to Cafe Valer a few times now and it's always good. Conveniently located right by an entrance to the West Covina mall, this is a great place to go for lunch or a quick coffee right after your shopping trip. The interior isn't very big and they're always super busy, so sitting outside might be preferable. I love that they have several options for vegetarians, and they have a big beautiful pastry case that you can't help but stare at as you wonder which sugary concoction you'll delight yourself with . Their coffee is consistently good and they usually have seasonal flavors. Today I tried an iced hazelnut white mocha and it was really good. Also shoutout to the guy on espresso bar today, he had my drink ready before I even got to the register to pay for it. My friend and I also recently tried their vanilla bean latte and a seasonal banana latte they have, both being really good. I've had both their vegetarian panini and their black bean hummus avocado wrap and they're both great choices. Today I also tried their white chocolate raspberry cheesecake and it was perfect. Man, I really wish someone had put me onto this hot chicken spot sooner because I've been missing out. This was easily one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had in a long time. I forgot my laptop at one of my meetings the previous day and it's about 45 minutes from my home area so I decided to work remote at this Cafe after I picked my laptop up. They've got free parking ( West Covina Mall,) Free WiFi, and about a dozen tables in total, from inside & outside. One note I will mention is that the restrooms are about half a mile away into the mall but the staff here gave me reassurance that I can leave my belongings here while I went to the restroom I snagged a seat next to one of the power outlets and shoutout to the main guy there (possibly the owner) making recommendations. I ended up ordering an iced matcha latte with strawberry cream to start off and then later on in the day I ordered 1/2 Garlic Chicken Pesto Panini & 1/2 Mango Habanero Chicken Panini. Iced Matcha latte with strawberry sweet cream 5/5 Their sweetened matcha I has great flavor and the strawberry sweet cream was the perfect touch to add that strawberry flavoring to the whole drink. Surprisingly the drink stayed cold the whole time I was there from 12:30 until about 7 or so. Mango habanero chicken panini 5/5 The mango habanero sauce was the perfect amount of sweet and spicy and the bread they use, PERFECT balance of crunchy & soft, not the type that scrapes the top of your mouth, spice rating 2.5/5 on my heat scale, it also had slices of Jalapeño in it along with cream cheese I believe? I think the 1/2 panini was the perfect amount otherwise it might've been too spicy if I had a whole panini of only mango habanero. Garlic pesto chicken panini 4/5 Don't get me wrong this panini was fire but the garlic overpowered the pesto. I love pesto and I'd 100% order this again. Once again the bread was crunchy, soft, and light. This one had Parmesan sprinkled on top of the bread with bell peppers and onions along with the garlic pesto chicken. 2 Stars - Pretty presentation, but not worth the drive. I drove from West LA to West Covina to finally try Cafe Valer after seeing it hyped up everywhere (especially for their paninis). I went around 1pm -- it was busy but the wait wasn't bad. There was actually a lot of staff on for the amount of business, so service itself wasn't the issue. I really wanted to like this spot. It's cute, food photographs really well, and I could see why people consider it a potential lunch date spot. The aesthetic is definitely there. Unfortunately... the flavor just wasn't. I ordered the steak and mushroom panini, and while it looked great, it was overwhelmingly cheesy. The cheese completely dominated the sandwich, and the steak quality didn't stand out. For something they're supposedly known for, it felt pretty average. It looked better than it tasted. I also ordered a veggie salad that skipped the feta -- which maybe would have helped -- but as served, it was basically mixed greens and nuts tossed together. It came laid out on a piece of brown parchment paper inside a red plastic fry basket. The presentation felt more styled than thoughtfully composed, and flavor-wise it was pretty lackluster. For drinks, we had dragonfruit lemonade and passion fruit (unsweetened), which is fine, but they didn't have honey available to adjust sweetness -- kind of surprising for a café. Some of the desserts looked great, but after the meal didn't really deliver, I decided to skip them. I love supporting local businesses, and I understand the influencer appeal -- it's very photogenic. But if I'm being honest, the food was mid at best. Corey or Cory, the manager, is just an all around understanding person. I ordered from DoorDash recently and there was an item that did not have bacon listed on the description, but when I bit into it I got a mouth full of bacon. I'm Muslim and do not eat pig, so I called him up and he was genuinely apologetic and really went above and beyond. Very respectful and cares about their customers. I just recently found this hidden gem. I came to the mall to return some shoes (if you know me you know I hate the mall) and my bf recommended we try it for brunch. Oh boy was that the best decision! We got the wrong order, it was a panani with like parm cheese on it and an oat milk iced latte and we shared! Let me just say, I wish I had ordered my own damn panani because we downed it so fast! Service was excellent and they made it super easy to order with ease while it being super busy...I love the patio sitting because now we got there on our bikes and sit down in the patio to enjoy some outdoors. I started coming here more often the food taste amazing! The staff and owners are super friendly and answer the 100 questions I throw their way! So many options from healthy eating to desserts! I love it and the taste yum! There's indoor and outdoor seating. It's in the mall and easy access through the mall or from outside Place is super chill and they play some music which I enjoyed! Place gets pretty packed sometimes but definitely worth the wait!! read more
