Finally tried this restaurant! Inside was very dark and intimate. Great date night! We tried the prime rib egg rolls (sooooo good)!! The sauce is a soy au jus! Also tried the prime rib, my husband said it was the best he's ever had! It has a rosemary crust. Super juicy and flavorful, not all fat! I had the filet with mushrooms and garlic butter. Wish the steak and mushrooms had a bit more flavor but the presentation was beautiful! I had two drinks - ladies night (with gin) and strawberry fields (with vodka). Both very good! we also had the corn casserole (a bit of a kick!) for dessert we had their seasonal bread pudding which was banana fosters!!!! Not pictured but soooo good! We just left a scrumptious dinner date and we had the best food but our waiter Coy was fantastic. He was attentive without hovering, he made fantastic recommendations, and his quick wit was fantastic. He didn't even flinch when I accidentally renamed his CRUMB scraper . Now back to our food. I had the 3 little fillet medallions, they were perfection. Absolutely delicious. I might have licked the plate clean if we weren't at such a nice place. No but in all seriousness, both my other half and I have commented how delicious our meals were. He's excited to have steak, mashed potatoes and asparagus left for lunch tomorrow! He will savor the flavor again!! To top off the night Coy had the little old lady in the back make us two scrumptious cookie dough truffles. They literally melted in your mouth. My family and I visited Peterson's tonight to check out their Devour Indy menu -- they had four great appetizer choices (we actually each got a different one, so that was great to see them all!), as well as several entree and dessert options. The bread with the cheddar butter was absolutely delicious, and so warm! It melted the butter perfectly. Between the four of us, we got the Caesar salad, crab cake, lobster bisque, and egg roll as starters -- everyone was really happy. The crab cake was delicious! Then we came together and the four of us all ordered the filet mignon...and none of us were disappointed. Each steak was cooked perfectly and had a wonderful flavor. It was served with carrots, potatoes, and broccolini, all wonderful. A few of us also added a scallop (it was difficult to decide between the entree of filet or scallops!) and it was great to have a little variety to the meal. Great flavor as well! For dessert, we tried the brownie and the creme brûlée. So good! The meal was excellent from start to finish -- especially since they brought out chocolate truffles to finish out the meal. Our server, Kevin, took such great care of us. He made sure our waters were full, cleared the table throughout the meal, and made sure that our courses came out with the perfect amount of time between them (since we ordered everything at one time in the beginning). All the employees seemed to work as a team, checking in on us, greeting us as we walked through the restaurant, and making themselves available if anything were needed. I have been all over the world in my 42 years on this earth and I must say that my time Indiana has although so far been short my experience at Peterson's restaurant has been one of the best dining experiences of my entire life. Absolutely everything about this meal from food to the service was top notch. Coming from Los Angeles where people constantly rate restaurants with good ratings that are terrible I'm always apprehensive especially about eating in a new place. I was worried I was going to have to be eating Chick-fil-A and chipotle the entire time I'm here for concerts but alas I found the steakhouse in spoiled myself as evening and had one of the top five mils of my entire life. A pleasant and agreeable dining experience. It's unlikely you'll be disappointed with Peterson's. They have a superb menu and the Chefs excel continually. There is no 'pop' to Peterson's though. Not like you find at other fine dining establishments (Prime 47, Carmel, for example). The staff just doesn't seem excited. I do not mean to suggest the atmosphere is melancholy. No, not at all. While I've worked five minutes from this restaurant for almost eight years now, I've never been inclined to visit until last night. I previewed the Northside Nights menu and was curious to try the 'Tickle Me Tito's', their specialty cocktail for the event, in celebration of a friend's divorce. The bartenders were friendly and greeted us right away, asking if we'd ever been in, then offered a taste of the cocktail before we decided to go for it. We enjoyed our drinks, not too sweet, but far from my usual Dirty Martini. I was pleasantly surprised when we were offered blue cheese stuff olives as we switched over on round two. Realizing we'd hit the floor fast if we didn't munch on something, we requested menus. The prix fixe menu for the event offered several really good options, but we weren't hungry for a 3-4 course meal. Nothing on the dinner menu caught my eye, but the Specials on the bar appetizer menu certainly did. $1 dollar oysters on the 1/2 shell?? Of course we ordered a dozen. They were perfect; served with cocktail sauce & horseradish, a delicate wine sauce, a lemon and Red Hot in case you needed a kick. We were also offered fresh baked bread and crackers. The lighting and decor was very nice at Petersons. The noise level was louder than desired. They have a nice dining room and also a bar area. My wife got the wedge, redfish, and cheese cake. I got the lobster bisque, filet medallions, and bread pudding. Overall the food was pretty basic. For what we paid I thought I was going to be wowed. Her fish was excellent but my filet medallions had two totally different tastes. One was dry and the other was juicy. The service was fantastic and the wine list was wonderful. Not only is this swanky restaurant famous for their steaks, but they have a decadent menu that will make your shiver with antici......pation. My husband booked this restaurant for our anniversary dinner, and we were definitely not disappointed. The decor is elegant, dim-lighting, and booths and tables fill the dining rooms. White linens line the tables with black linen napkins. Wine glasses at the ready to be filled with your choice of tantalizing wines. FYI: Monday is 1/2 off all wine bottles! Our server was extremely polite, friendly and helpful. After suggesting the specials, we decided to start with a salad for me and a French onion soup for him. Both starters were very delicious. For the entree, we both ordered steaks - 8 oz center cut filet for the lady and a 16 oz prime ribeye for the gentleman. It was like cutting into silk, and the meat melted in your mouth like butter. We were in meat lover's heaven! Finally for dessert, I ordered the White Chocolate Crème Brûlée and he got the Triple Chocolate Cake. WARNING!! The cake slice is bigger than your face! You can easily share it with 2-4 people. My hubby took most of his to-go. My crème brûlée was light, crisp and delicious. If you've never experienced a crème brûlée before, I highly recommend it, especially since it is their gluten-free dessert option (minus the biscotti). The staff was attentive and polite and knowledgeable. They use a crumb scraper, which I love. The only reason Peterson's doesn't get 5 stars is for the price of my Oban scotch. $20 a shot is outrageous when the average elsewhere is $9-$12. I was shocked. We visited recently for Devour Indy and were not disappointed. Drinks were delicious and so was the food. My filet was cooked just right , and my husband's chicken was even more tender and juicy than my steak. Appetizer (spring roll) and desserts (creme brûlée and cheesecake) were also tasty. The side of mashed potatoes was just ok, as was the bread. Service was excellent. I would call the atmosphere "vintage" but it adds to the charm of the place. We celebrated our 1st anniversary there, and it is now the most memorable day of the year for us! We had the lobster fingers and prime rib spring rolls. We have had a gift card for a while so we finally got the chance to check this place out. It was phenomenal! The attire isn't too fancy we wore nice tops and dark jeans as did most of the patrons. I sipped on a glass of red wine and my husband got one of their seasonal cocktails. Our server was attentive and paced the meal out well- warm bread, apps, main, and dessert. I normally wouldn't order creme brûlée (because they tend to all taste the same), but I took a chance because it was recommended. I stand corrected, and Peterson's creme brûlée was game changing. My mother and I always go to a nice restaurant the Saturday evening before Christmas. We had not been to Peterson's for several years, probably because of all the other high end dining options that Indianapolis has to offer today. Anyway we thought "hey let's try Peterson's this year". Well all I can say is - we went, we tried, we will not be back. The evening started out on the wrong foot. We asked to change our table to a booth. The hostess was very accommodating and did seat us at a booth; unfortunately my mother was sitting in a hole. The hostess brought a little pillow to sit on but that was not comfortable. Our waiter came and took our drink order. I told him someone else had already taken it. He couldn't find it so he took it again. I wanted a daiquiri on the rocks. He said they are going to make a strawberry daiquiri. I said no just a regular one. The bartender kept saying strawberry. I told them to look it up on-line. They came back with a brown drink in a glass you may put a long-island ice tea in. It was at this point that I said this is going to be bad. We ordered the lobster fingers for an appetizer. They were excellent!! Really the only and best part of the meal. Next came a pretty lame looking wedge salad. Hardly any blue cheese dressing. We split it so it looked that we each got a thin piece of lettuce drenched in balsamic and some nuts. Next came out entrees: 2 - 14 ounce filets. They came on a plate with the most pathetic piece of tomato with breadcrumbs on it that looked like an uncooked piece of mush. The filets were dry - not a drop of juice in them. The au gratin potatoes- they were ok. Not much cheese - basically chunks of potatoes with a little cheese and some bacon on top. No dessert - really no reason to try anything else. The biscotti they gave with the coffee was soft and not flavorful as was the little piece of chocolate candy at the end. This restaurant needs a Gordon Ramsey makeover. The restaurant is passé - from food to decor. The bill was $200 not including tip for old-fashioned mediocre food. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars was because the waiter was very good and the lobster fingers were memorable. I forgot one thing the Bearnaise sauce. Sauce means that it pours. What an amazing experience! It was our anniversary, so we were seated in a booth that was semi-private and not a part of the main dining area. From the moment we arrived, every single staff member wished us a Happy Anniversary! That was pretty nifty. We started with the crab-stuffed shrimp. It was so good. The shrimp were large in size. My only complaint is that there were only three. For an appetizer to share amongst two people, I think four would be a better portion. I then had the French onion soup. Extremely cheesy! It was just about perfect. A very rich and flavorful broth. For my main course, I enjoyed the scallops. I forget what they were atop of (whatever it was, it was tasty). The scallops were cooked to perfection. So tender and juicy. Mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm! For dessert, we finished off with Eli's cheesecake. I LOVE me some Eli's.
