I'm guessing they have super fast service for the hospital staffs next door. I ordered the biscuit egg sandwich and a lavender latte. I'm a big meat eater and I don't consider egg as meat so I was hoping I could add ham or bacon to my sandwich but I was wrong!!! Everything tasted so good together! I'm here once again at petit cafe, and once again a 5 star experience. I ordered a cappuccino this time with oat milk and i gotta say, still by far my favorite place for coffee when i'm in oakland. It's perfectly made with just the right temperature and taste. when i think of a cappuccino, this is what i think of. I also ordered an almond croissant and it's great. the powdered sugar on top was such a great addition that really enhanced the flavor. on top of the great coffee and pastry, the service is always top tier. I had an appt with my Dr and had some time to kill. Found this cute little place via Yelp so had to let everyone know the previews have been spot on. The employees were super friendly and engaging I love me some pickled onions and had the bagel plate. Very tasty! They also have a really nice assortment of more unusual espresso drinks like rose cardamom, lavender and vanilla bean matcha. I chose dark chocolate chili and it did not disappoint. Love the spice! Petit Cafe had a rough start two years ago and had to close during the pandemic. Cute spot for the workmanlike hospital district known as Pill Hill. Petit Cafe can be found at the top of the historic hill. I'll start with the coffee since it's a café. Absolutely delicious. Four dollars for a cup so it's not cheap, but really tasty. Ritual, I think. But what really blew me away last time I went was the food. I had an extremely delicious breakfast biscuit with egg. It was topped by a nice onion relish. Soft egg and a smashed, well-spread avocado. Excellent biscuit. Total winner. I'm very curious to try to lunch sometime. Nice, clean space. Always nice folks behind the counter. There's a long counter with stools along the window and a couple of tables in the back. Sometimes there are two or three tables outside. Whether you work near here or are just coming through for an appointment, it's a cut above your average coffee spot. Check it out! read more

I came here today during my lunch break. I was originally going to order a latte, but I decided to order the Sandman (mushroom coffee) after seeing a little sign promoting it. Payment: heads up, this is a card only establishment. Meaning, they don't take cash! Which is a little different. Service: It did take a decent amount of time to make the coffee, but it was delicious. I didn't get anything to eat, so I'm unable to rate the food at this time. I came across the petit cafe' by looking for an impressive bagel that would satisfy my cravings for a lox bagel (without the lox), I was so pleased to find Petit Cafe' only 5 minutes from my new workplace. There's both indoor and sunny outdoor seating with the friendliest staff and customers. I wanted to get a hot caffeine-free drink and their cloud-Hued matcha latte did not disappoint! Feels like a cafe, but not overwhelming. My wife is undergoing weekly treatments nearby, and this is the perfect stop to spend an hour before going to pick her up. This used to be my favorite coffee place, but the new staff has ruined this for me. They operate at a snail pace and have no sense of urgency or hustle when working. Also about 80% of the time I've gone they have messed up my coffee/food order. I love the coffee, and the food is good, however the new staff need A LOT more training. It's unfortunate because this place has such potential but the new staff changes has unfortunately caused me and my fellow classmates to think negatively of this spot now. Got to try this little cafe on one of the rare weekdays I'm home in East Bay during business hours. Really enjoyed the experience here. The drinks were so well crafted and the pastries are Firebrand. Didn't get to try the food yet, but it's definitely on my list! Heard the chef/cook talking about how he made the mushrooms and it was clear the amount of care and passion that goes into the food here. The employees were courteous and helpful (one saw me looking for water cups and brought some out without my having to actually ask). Their menu is a lot of fun, with items like a latte made with chaga and CBD infused soda. All of the food is vegetarian (and much of it is vegan). The inside is small but well designed/tastefully decorated. It feels cozy without feeling stuffy, and the plants are real! The speakers actually have nice bass (though if you sit in the back, the music can be a bit loud, since the speaker is there). -1 star for the internet not working on a regular basis. I only wish this place was open later/on weekends. read more

The drinks are decent (Ritual beans) and with nice variety, but the prices are pretty expensive. I paid $7 for a small lactose-free latte (smallest of 3 sizes), and then the tip options they have set up with Square are $1/$2/$3. It's on par with some other Bay Area coffee shops, but more expensive than good places like Modern Coffee. Now that Oaklandia Cafe has migrated, it's a fine choice if you work or are a patient here and need a bite/drink close by. But if you have a few more minutes, I would recommend that you walk a few blocks further for a better coffee quality to price ratio. I didn't eat here, but they have a spread of cafe food items: a good selection of baked goods behind the glass, plus typical easy small-kitchen fare like sandwiches, toasts and breakfast items. I couldn't find any napkins when I looked around - neither in front of the barista, nor at the water station, nor at any of the tables. They serve drinks in paper cups without the cap on, making them prone to spillage, so it would make sense to have them available. The cafe is small, as per the name. The customer area basically one long corridor, and the rest is the kitchen. There are small tables outside. There didn't seem to be a bathroom accessible to customers in the space. Because of the compact space, it can get loud when the machines are running. I had to shout my simple order several times for the cashier to hear me. I did see someone taking a call inside, though. There's WiFi. I wouldn't camp out here too long due to the small space, but it's perfectly fine for 30-60 minutes of laptopping, as long as the glare through the windows isn't too strong, or reading. The hours are limited - they shut up shop early on business days, and they're totally closed on weekends. read more

When you first walk in there a qr code posted saying you can order through there. So I take a seat, place my order for here, which it did ask, and wait.... and wait... while watching people who came in after me get their food. Seriously, my wife has some complicated dental problems and while she is down the street at the dental office, I am enjoying a delicious cup of coffee and a sandwich at the Petit Cafe. Yesterday, I had the barbecued prtabello mushroom sandwich. Heavenly! The mushrooms were prepared in a BBQ sauce and placed on a French batard with a nice slaw . The sandwich was served with greens covered with a tasty dressing. I've had this sandwich twice and I also had the one with Fontana cheese and pesto. Both are excellent. We came in for a quick lunch and loved the French-style classic grilled cheese sandwich, which came with a side of micro greens. The single espresso was perfectly prepared and presented. Its taste was not fully to my liking, but that's almost certainly the fault of the beans--while everyone around town seems to love Red Bay coffee, somehow I never have. The staff were friendly and charming. They checked our vaccine QR codes with a smile. This was definitely a five-star experience. We plan to return for breakfast very soon. read more
