Petra is one of my go-to restaurants when looking for a delicious and fulfilling Mediterranean meal in Seattle. The food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced considering the healthy portions. The lentil soup that comes with each main dish is excellent - filled with flavors of cumin and lemon. You could go carb-less here but I don't recommend it because the rice is just that good! We tried different kabobs, the kofta skewers were a little tough but nicely flavored. My favorite was the lamb kabob and the beef kabob. The sampler appetizer is also a great choice which comes with some of the best yogurt I've ever had. Just be ready for garlic! Ambiance is comfortable and traditionally decorated. With the expansion of the restaurant it's a great place to come with the entire family or other groups. Belly dancing on Saturday nights adds some fun to the evening. Servers are nice and patient even when the restaurant is packed! read more

The food here was great! I love that each entree came with either a soup or salad. My friends and I all got the soup and it was definitely the right choice. We ordered the Beef Shawarma, the Garlic Lemon Chicken, and the Petra Spice Chicken. Out of the three, I would definitely come back for the Spice Chicken. The chicken was nice and tender and I loved how flavorful the rice was. I think the spice was a great balance to the rice since it is very lemon-y. I know the garlic lemon chicken is a very popular choice here but I found the chicken to be very dry. The Beef Shawarma was also good but I felt like there was just too much going on in terms of flavor. This would be a great dish if you like intense flavors. I have to say though, this would be a great choice if you're hungry because compared to the other two dishes, the portion size was huge. read more

Our team ordered appetizers (pita & hummus, falafel and spanakopita) from Petra for catering of a team event. A day before the event, I had to call in to add baklava for dessert and they were very accommodating considering the request was less than 24 hours of notice. The delivery arrived on time and was very well-packaged. We brought the food to Magnolia Park and they kept warm and fresh. Everyone enjoyed the food and only the pita & hummus had leftovers in the end. (I guess Seattle-ites are health-conscious?) Petra was one of our random finds on Yelp, so we went by for dinner. They were a little bit busy, but we were seated immediately. We ended up getting the Taste of Africa entrée with soup and the Petra fries. The soup came out first, and everything else came out together after, as requested. I really enjoyed the soup. It had lentils & spices, and had a thicker consistency. The flavors were definitely unique. The Taste of Africa entrée was really big and could easily be shared between two people. It came with two thin breasts of chicken and sautéed veggies atop rice. The chicken and veggies had a distinct flavor and tasted great. My favorite part of the dish was definitely the rice. It was soft & fluffy, and very well seasoned. I'd just get a plate of that next time. The fries were also really good. They were the thin-cut kind, and were topped with garlic ketchup and feta cheese. We ate those so fast because they were so tasty! I'd definitely recommend them to start off the meal. Our waiter was good for the fist part of our meal. He came back to check on us and make sure we didn't need anything else. He completely disappeared later, so we had to wait quite a while to get our check. I used to live in Seattle, a few blocks away from Petra (before I started Yelping!)... Had an opportunity to stop by for dinner during my most recent trip and wow... DELICIOUS! If you are a fan of middle eastern / mediterranean spots -- I strongly, strongly suggest Petra. The space is humble and reminds you of a family home. I always start off with either a hummus or baba ganoush. These are paired with pita triangles... PERFECTLY SOFT! For mains, I often times order the Lamb/Chicken Ouzi. You'll see the chicken one in the attached picture. The proportion of ingredients here is so well done. The amount of pine nuts make it so each bite gives you that rewarding crunch, but not overly so. The sauces are generously doused atop, but never too aggressively. The meat is plentiful and ALWAYS ridiculously juicy. Petra for the win! read more

Ordered takeout during COVID-19. I got the Ouzi with Gyro meat ($21), Hummus ($3), and Diamond Baklava ($6). Hummus was AMAZING. Never had hummus like that before. It is a must try. The Baklava was also really delicious and went well with the rest of the meal. The Ouzi with Gyro meat was great. I've never had it before and I was impressed. The meat pairs well with the rice, and the rice also has ground meat mixed in. It's not too heavy either so its easy to just keep going until its all gone. The food is definitely of high quality and they seem to have a very unique menu. I want to come back and try some of the other dishes. Wow, I definitely have been missing out. This is the best Greek/Mediterranean food I have ever tasted! I visit Seattle at least 3-4 times a year, and I can't believe I have never been here. I can imagine the restaurants in Greece tasting exactly like the plates served at Petra because the food was superb :) I usually care a great deal about the atmosphere, service and the interior of the restaurants. So even though this place was pretty empty (went in around 5-6pm), service was pretty okay and the interior was not so pretty.... I still give it 5 stars!! We got the Petra Gyro Salad and Garlic Lemon Chicken. Both were so delicious!! Best tzatziki sauce and pita bread. The chicken was so tender and juicy with perfect flavors! The portions are big so it's great to share and try different plates. Don't take my word for it, you have to try it yourself! I don't want to hype it up too much, but really, I dream about this place.. hahaha. I've been obsessed with Greek food and sadly no Greek restaurants in Dallas beats Petra. As a avid fan of Mediterranean food and a newcomer to Seattle, I was very excited to try out this restaurant. I personally am a huge fan of restaurants that are honest with their costumers, and once my order was properly delivered, my meal quickly came to me. It was their delicious Combo Kabob (Chicken, Lamb, Kefta/Beef). With an appetizer in the form of hummus and pita. Their hummus was very delicious with a wonderful lemony taste. The main course was accompanied by a salad or soup (your choice). The salad was delicious and a nice palate cleanser before the main course. Lastly, the restaurant was decorated and had a relaxed atmosphere. While the music was quite high tempo which made my partner and I feel a bit rushed when eating. But the choice of music made more sense when a belly dancer was introduced as entertainment for the night. The belly dancer was very upbeat and impressive to watch. And it was especially pleasant to watch her interact with a young child of a family sitting nearby. If I was given the choice, I would happily return. read more

This place is an institution in Belltown and whenever I come here (mainly to go) or even for catering the food tastes fantatic. My favorite thing here is the garlic chicken, i'm the type of girl who doesn't think too much garlic is a bad thing, it has a hint of lemon and the rice it comes with is super flavorful. Can't go wrong with pita and hummus as well. I'd sad the falafel can be a bit dry but just cover it in tzatziki sauce and hummus and you're good to go. Service is great as well. Was very tempted to go back to Lola's but decided to try something new, and Petra's was super highly rated, with good reason it seems. Great staff. Attentive. Nice atmosphere. Authentic touches. As with most Mediterranean places, I had to try the Mezeh plate even though I knew I wouldn't finish it. Best way to judge a restaurant like this. Everything was awesome. Hummus was good, above average, but didn't blow my socks off. The babagnoush however was out of this world. Great balance of flavored and spice. The puta bread was so perfect, it was tough to resist having another and another. Then came the main, a perfectly sized side salad with this lovely dressing. Ate it all. I ordered the garlic chicken on a bed of saffron rice. It took all my willpower to not eat everything on the plate. Perfectly cooked to juicy but done. The spice again was just awesome. Absolutely recommend if your in the neighborhood. I had the mint oregano tea with the meal which was a great pairing with everything. I wish I could take home what I didn't finish, but I'm. Cute spot in Belltown. When we got there, the tables were pretty open. We were greeted right away and sat at a spot near the window. We ordered the Zahar (cauliflower dish) and lentil soup. The lentil soup was perfect for the weather. The Zahar came with freshly made/warm pita! And it was so delicious. The seasoning and the sauce on top was absolutely amazing. For the main course we ordered the chicken shawarma and it was also delicious. It wasn't the same flavors we are use to for shawarma but these were so good! Petra has really great tasting Mediterranean food! I ordered the hummus for an appetizer and it was pretty good. It was a little acidic/ overly spiced but the texture was good and overall tasted yummy! I wish it came with more pita because two isn't really enough. For entrees, I ordered the chicken shwarma plate and my boyfriend got the taste of africa plate. They were pretty similar dishes and they both tasted great! You get a TON of food (it'll probably last us two - three good sized meals). The entrees were also pretty heavily spiced but they tasted delicious!! The food was slightly different than other mediterranean places I've been to which was really nice. Our meals came with a bunch of grilled veggies too which was a good surprise. While visiting Seattle we wanted to find a good Mediterranean meal. We walked to Petra Bistro, We made a reservation over the phone and glad we did it filled up while we were there. Tip: they have a happy hour that ends at 6pm so go a little early and start with appetizers! The food was delicious, tons of items on the menu. And from where we were sitting we could see the stream of food delivery pick ups that was constant! The locals must love the place. The service was very nice. Our waiter was Marco who was very attentive to our table and had a great personality and paid attention to every detail. Great employee! It's not a fancy place, it has a casual atmosphere and it's more about getting great food and a great price. Everything tasted fresh and the olives were to die for. Not sure where they got them but they are not the regular restaurant variety. Obviously a picky chef who knows his/her stuff! Next time we visit Seattle we will be back! Enjoy! read more
