Petra Mediterranean was a wonderful find in Pacific Grove! The baba was absolutely top notch, and the chicken shish kebab platter was heavenly. The restaurant has a cute, relaxing vibe, and the service was excellent from start to finish. I'll definitely be back!

The best Chicken Gyros Sandwich paired with the best salad dressing out!

This restaurant is tucked in a corner in Pacific Grove, so unless you're looking you might not find it. I happened to be looking specifically for Mediterranean food and most the spots in the area are not great, so decided to give them a try. The interior is clean but a bit dated. Which doesn't matter at all to me, if the food is good. They have REAL chicken gyro. Not chunked, shredded or cubed but actual chicken gyro style slices. The pita bread they serve it on is soft and fresh and their taziki sauce is great. I recommend getting a salad on the side because they have the BEST Greek dressing ever! I get an extra one to put on my gyro lol Service was very good as well. Highly recommend trying them out. I was told that the Patra Cafe in Monterey doesn't have the same owner but it's the same food....never been to that one so not sure how they are.

This place was so amazing! If you have a gluten and dairy allergy they are more than happy to accommodate and help you. The place is quaint and quiet, it's a perfect location for just a relaxing dinner or lunch! The food was amazing

This place is fantastic. Hands down don't miss going here when in town if you like Mediterranean food. Service was great. Ambiance is super cute and authentic. We had Gyro pita and chicken pita. Both were delicious. I loved the seasoning on the meat. The dressing on the salad was great. This place needs to franchise! Chefs kiss!

    Petra Restaurant (Mediterranean Food) Menu

The whole restaurant was very clean and decorated with various ambiguously Mediterranean objects. Service was slow tonight. There was just one server, who was also doubling as greeter/host, for the entire restaurant tonight. He was pleasant and helpful when he was able to attend to us. However, he was rarely able to find time to check on us. The meats and dolma in the Petra Combination Platter were very dry. The rice was good. The tabouli was not very finely chopped like you might find in the Middle East and Mediterranean. The hummus had almost no tahina and was very garbanzo heavy.

This place was amazing! Even though the restaurant appears old and just like someone's house, it's very inviting and so cozy. The food was so good and tasted so fresh. The pita bread tasted homemade and was so soft. Our server was very kind and attentive. This place needs more business!! Ignore the modern and trendy places down the street and come here instead!

Bomb gyros and the tzatziki is deliciously simple. True authentic Mediterranean food; reminds me of my family cooking. Thank you!

Is this the same as the restaurant in Monterey?

The Greek restaurant in Monterey is Epsilon. It is not the same as Petra in Pacific Grove. You may be thinking of Dametra, which has a full restaurant in downtown Carmel, and two fast food spin-offs, one in Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey,…

The man who made our food was making it to Order and he had been running this business for over 40 years! The service was excellent and it felt very personal. The food was absolutely delicious! Everyone in our party completely agree agreed that they loved everything they ate. There were two omnivores, one vegan, and one vegetarian. And the vegan baklava! What an incredibly unique and special treat to find baklava vegan! Absolutely delicious! I'm a huge fan of spanakopita, but I haven't been able to eat it for a long time because I'm the vegan in the group and when I said something about that out loud, he said he would make me a special vegan spanakopita! Right there! Made To Order! This man is amazing. Seating is very limited, so several of the people we saw that came behind us got their food to go. I think most people there need to expect there would be a little bit of a weight and that seating is very limited and it's outdoors. Although the outdoor seating does have covering. All the people in line, waiting for food seem to have no problem waiting for it because they knew it would be worth it. And honestly... Considering the line of people we saw behind us (10-11?) and the fact that there were three ahead of us... no one really had to wait very long at all! It was really impressive how much he could get done by himself. The next time you're in Monterey, California, you definitely need to check out Paprika. I only managed to get one photo of my plate of food because I was too distracted by deliciousness to remember to take photos of anyone else's food. And obviously, by the time I remembered to photograph the baklava.... Several pieces seem to be missing.

We ordered the lamb crate and chicken kabob, and both arrived cold. When we politely brought it to the waiter's attention, instead of apologizing or trying to make it right, he argued with us in front of other customers. He insisted the meat wasn't cold because "they tried it," which was both unprofessional and embarrassing. No customer should be made to feel like they're being called a liar. What made it even worse was his response: "Okay, what would you like us to do, record it coming out?" That level of sarcasm and disrespect was shocking, especially from a restaurant that prides itself on high standards. For a restaurant with Michelin-star recognition, I expected exceptional customer service--not to be treated with disrespect over a legitimate concern. The issue wasn't just the cold food; it was the way we were spoken to and humiliated in front of everyone. Because of this experience, my family and I will not be returning. It's a shame because we've supported this restaurant many times before, but the lack of respect from the staff has completely changed our opinion. I hope management takes customer service more seriously so others don't have the same experience. Absolutely hell! Give this restaurant 0 s

My wife and I came here for a casual dinner the first long day of the seminar in Monterey. We had…read morereservations at a fancy place, But we were both tired and this place was close to our hotel. It's a small place with a Mediterranean color scheme. Their menu includes enough variety where you can find something you like. They serve beer and wine, though I didn't see a menu or price list for them. The guy that takes your order brings the food. He was fine. My wife ordered a bowl of lentil soup and a side of hummus. She really liked the hummus. I tasted it and it was creamy and rich. She didn't have enough pita to finish the hummus, but we got her a to go container to bring the rest back to the fridge in the hotel. She thought the soup was fine. It was a bit under seasoned for her and needed salt and pepper. I had a Greek salad topped with gyro meat. The gyro meat appeared to not be the preformed frozen type. It had pieces of different shapes and thicknesses. The meat was tender. It wasn't as strongly flavored as most gyro I've had. But it tasted good. The tzatziki served with it was mostly yogurt, again a little under seasoned. The salad was ok. There was one sliver of red pepper and one of green, some thick red onion partial slices, a few cherry tomatoes, and some feta. The feta tasted pretty good. The dressing was very vinegar forward with few other seasonings. The lettuce was romaine, and 80% were the ribs with attached leaves. The salad was not a great choice. At more than $20 with gyro, was not worth it. It's not about the money. It just wasn't that good. When I saw the small salad was $11 and was served on a 6" diameter plate, I should have reconsidered my choice. The real reason this gets no more than a 3 is that it was freezing inside. It was about 50 outside and inside. The order/server guy was bundled up. The temperature was not pleasant. So the food was mostly just ok (except the hummus), it was freezing inside, and the service was fine. How is that more than a 3?
