You know, the employees here seem to really love their job. Very friendly staff and they're always there walking around the aisles assisting whoever needs help. This is my PetSmart of choice to buy food for my dogs even though they hardly have sales for that. My dog stayed for 2 nights at the pet hotel and we've been traumatized from this experience. I know that my dog gets a bit anxious to new surroundings, but I have never seen him behave the way he did when i picked him. When the worker finally brought him out, i thought my dog would be happy to see someone familiar like other visits to the vet or grooming services, but he was very stressed out. When i was waiting for him, i took a peek inside the facility through the window and it was disturbing. Imagine a warehouse with several rows of 4x4 cubes where dogs were just sitting there looking sad. I think the dog pound had better spaces than this place. After walking out of the store, he proceeded to urinate as soon as possible as if he hadn't gone in several hours. When i loaded him into the car, he was frantic the entire time the entire ride home. From my understanding, he was telling me that his experience was absolutely horrible at all and to never do such a thing again. When i got home, he drank water as if he's never had any before. He's normally afraid of the hose, but not that day. He waited for me to refill his bowls and proceeded to drink immediately. I thought it was over with, but he has been constipated and suffering from diarrhea for the last 36 hours since he's been home. I feel like i let him down by trusting this place with the well-being of our beloved pet. But i will listen to the non-verbal signals he's been giving and will not return to this location. Never did i think that a major brand like Petsmart would allow such apparent neglect/trauma to occur. Please do not roll the dice on this place, your pet will definitely thank you for it. read more

PetSmart is a one stop shop for our fur babies and it has been for years! They go to Banfield for their medical needs and stay at the PetsHotel when we go on a trip. When we go in to purchase things, it's mainly for fish and things for our tanks. They have a wide selection of fish to choose from. All fish and other aquatic creatures are labeled as either beginner, intermediate or advanced levels in terms of care, which is extremely helpful. They do carry more specialty items for pets that I wouldn't be able to find at Target or Walmart. There are some live pets for sale such as several types of birds and reptiles. It's also fun to watch the dogs through the large glass wall window at Doggie Day Camp! read more

There really should be an option for zero stars. The hotel at this location doesn't even deserve a 1 star rating. I was debating writing a review because I don't want to be a Karen but people need to read this so here it goes: I boarded my two elderly dogs over Thanksgiving weekend. When I got there the line was out the door and not a single employee to be found anywhere. Finally an employee strolled up the counter with absolutely no sense of urgency. They proceeded to stand behind the counter, not acknowledge a single person in line and play on their personal cell phone. Finally someone in line said something to the employee. The employee looked up and said "oh I don't know how to check dogs in the computer yet." Then right back to their cell phone. They didn't even bother to call for help. Everyone in line is visibly upset. 10 mins later another employee walks up behind the desk, doesn't acknowledge a single customer waiting in line and starts to chat it up with the first employee behind the desk. A couple minutes later finally an employee that can actually do their job starts to check in dogs. But the line is actually getting longer because there's only 1 employee checking dogs in. The employee checking dogs in calls for help several times but nobody comes to help. Finally the "Manager" comes up and has an immediate attitude. Someone asked to speak to the Manager. That's when the "Manager" really turned on her self entitled down right ignorant attitude. She proceeded to belittle and degrade the woman that she was speaking with. Other customers in line came to the woman's rescue. The "Manager" then informed everyone (I say everyone because she was so loud Walmart and Home Depot probably heard her) that we aren't the only people trying to check their dogs in and we should've come when it wasn't so busy. I asked her why nobody knows how to perform their job and if they don't then as the manager she needs to fill in where she needs to. If looks could kill I s wouldn't drop dead on the spot. She told me "she was busy with another dog in the hotel. Come to find out the dog she was busy with was her own dog. So she didn't care about the customers that pay to bird their dogs. She was too busy catering to her own dog in the back. I have no idea how she is the Manager of the entire hotel. She had the worst attitude I've ever encountered at any type of store. Not to mention she doesn't train her employees on the job duties. And the cherry on top is my dogs came back absolutely disgusting smelling and filthy. They must have missed bath time because the "Manager" was too busy with her personal dogs bath or something. My experience was infuriating. I will NEVER board my dogs at the Brea location EVER again. As a young child excited over all the cool options Natalia was nice enough to put some fish back she had already bagged up for us. This Petsmart is located next door to Home Depot. There is a pet hotel and a Banfield at this location. My husband and I, along with our little girl dog, stopped by this location this afternoon looking for a new padded crate. Nothing wrong with the one we already have, we are just looking for a padded crate with wheels so that it is easier to transport her, especially when we fly (carrying luggage and her in her little crate does make for a challenge. Would be nice to just roll her instead and still be able to have the padded crate fit under the seat in the plane). Unfortunately this particular location was slim in the products available for travel appropriate padded crates. So we left empty handed on this visit. Overall, we had an A-okay experience, thus my 3 star rating. I do want to mention that currently at the store, there were some costumes placed on clearance (great for those thinking about dressing up their dog and/ or cat... if the cat will let you, lol.... for next year). read more

I came here to get my dog's nails trimmed and anal glands expressed and were told it would take 45 minutes. There was 3 workers when we got there and 2 of them weren't doing anything and left shortly. We waited and there was no one in the grooming room. I had to go tell someone in the front twice to get someone. When we finally got someone in the front, the groomer told us it would only take 5-10 minutes. I don't understand why I had to wait over an hour l, when it was going to only take that 10 minutes 2 workers weren't doing anything. read more

6/24/2019 - Seriously.....Do not board your dog at the Petsmart Hotel. 2 days after an overnite stay, my dog ends up at the emergency vet with a respiratory infection. She was up to date on vaccinations, yet developed what my vet says is kennel cough, that led to breathing distress. She has not been anywhere near other dogs other than her stay at petsmart. Cost me almost $1000 in vet bills for an overnite stay. Never again !! read more

I usually shop at Petco but came to Petsmart because the item was only sold there. I tried getting salmon oil for my dog. Online it says 8oz is available at the store and there is also the option to order it online and pick it up. So I go to the store and when I got there they only had 16oz. I asked one of the workers if they had the 8oz and showed her how the website says it's available. Guess what she says? She says that they don't and how sometimes the website is wrong and how they do that due to theft or something. I mean I understand websites can be inaccurate but theft? Maybe I heard wrong but I'm pretty sure I didn't. In my mind I thought what about all the people that order this item online and comes in to the store to pick it up? What then? It doesn't make sense but I didn't bother to argue. If she didn't know, she could have asked the manager. But nope had to make up something. I just wish workers would be more honest. I rather have them say they are not sure than say some random stuff. Note: I called another Petsmart and the 8oz was in the cat section which I'm sure would be the same for this location but the worker didn't know this, and again had to make up something...I don't know why they just can't put both sizes in the dog and cat section so that it is easier for customers. My BRT (Black Russian Terrier) needs to be bathed and groomed on very tight intervals. I tried so many different places, one of the people couldn't do a proper cut, others refused to do. Athena from Petsmart took my Piper in and has been taking care of her every other week for over 2 years. My dog loves going in there and when she come out, she looks perfect... Epic fail. Out of 3 services booked only 1 was provided at pickup. We booked our 3 dogs for daycamp and needed to have nails trimmed and our largest dog bathed. We asked that they do nails first thing because we would likely be picking up our dogs early. We dropped at 8am and picked up at 2pm. When we got there, none of the dogs had their nails trimmed, and our large dog was not bathed. We'd also spent $300 on training which we began a month prior so they would be ready for this day too! Petsmart you so dropped the ball. This review is scathing because this isn't typical for your business to treat customers with so much disregard. Hopefully this will be the wakeup call that you are damaging your business reputation and customers with a choice will go elsewhere. read more

As the saying goes, once is enough, two is too much, and I'm not that stupid to do it on the third time. Anyway, the first time I brought my baby here, he stayed for 3 nights. I brought the holiday package thinking that I when we checked out, I will have a holiday photo of him. Unfortunately, I don't. The picture that they took is just my baby standing by the hallway not even looking at the camera. I let it go. As they refunded it to me. When we checked out, he was running to us, jumping on us. I thought that time is that my baby just missed us that much and he was so excited to see us. As we checking out, my husband brought our dog out and I stayed to asked how he was during those stays. The lady said, he did a great job. Theh even mentioned that before we came in, he just peed and pooped. But to my surprise, my husband told me that as soon as their out, he peed as if he's holding it for a long time. And he also pooped twice. Like what! As we enter our car, he's just quiet and very sleepy. He doesn't bark or anything. So we thought maybe he's just tired. But to my surprise, he tried to bark and he doesn't have a voice. My husband said maybe he's barking all night that he was there. But why? why is he barking? At home, he barks when he need to pee or poo. He barks when he's hungry, and he barks when he feel hot. read more

I had the worst grooming experience here! I brought my dog in and not only did they argue with me about how I can get my dog groomed, but when they proceeded to do the "only cut they could do", it was total shit (pardon my French). Debbie or Donna or whatever was the lady that did my dogs cut, and she gave him a crooked unibrow (he's a Bichon Frise so he has curly hair that they should brush out), lots of uneven divets on the top of his head, a nappy tail that they SHAVED down, doused him in perfume even though I told them it irritates his skin, and WORST OF ALL she broke this skin in THREE places, one of which was as long as my little finger and twice as wide, and it was oozing and infected by the time I picked him up FOUR AND A HALF hours later! My dog is a rescue and was horribly beaten and kept in a small cage by his previous owners and therefore has some serious fears and issues. At the Vacaville petsmart up north, they absolutely loved him and he loved them as well. They always took care of him, and he never had problems there. However, when I picked him up from this petsmart, he not only jumped out of the receptionists arms frantically, he also jumped out of mine and BOLTED to the door. He couldn't get away from them fast enough. I don't know what they did with him, but he was absolutely terrified, and he hadn't calmed down by the time we got home. They are terrible groomers; there is no reason he should have been so badly injured by their grooming tools. It's almost like she was drunk when she groomed him! There is no excuse for their horrible job taking care of my dog, and they were so rude! I had only heard terrible things about them, I don't even know why I brought him here. I went back the next day since it was after 8 when they called, and I got my money back. I would never leave my dog on their hands again, who knows what goes one behind closed doors. If you care about your dog's health and mental state while they get groomed, don't take them here! read more

This is by far my favorite PetSmart, mostly because of the friendliness of the employees and how helpful they are. I can always count on being treated like a valued customer and getting excellent customer service. Whether I'm coming in for dog food, fish food, fish aquarium accessories or even new fish I always find what I need and am pleased with what I paid. Prices are great and the selection is too. Sometimes I will even just walk through the store for something relaxing to do. It's amazing what looking at fish swim around, or watching puppies play can do for a person I love this store! This review is for the grooming department only, worst grooming experience ever. Took my dog there to be groomed and showed them a picture of what I wanted him to have. When I picked him up he looked a mess!! First off, he looked nothing like the picture I had showed them, he was choppy all over and his ears were super choppy. Second, he still had dirt on his paws showing that they did not even bath him well! Second to this, they charged me an extra 14 dollars and said that he was hard to control and had a few tangles. My dog has been to groomers every 6 weeks since I have had him and I have only heard wonderful things about him, never once that he was hard to handle. Second, he had no tangles what so ever on him that needed" additional brushing " I spoke to the manager who offered me a refund and when I checked my bank only the extra 14 had been refunded not the whole amount, ended up paying 60 dollars for nothing because I had to take him to get fixed at another groomers. Please never take your animal here to be groomed. They were probably aggressive which is why my dog could not wait to leave. read more

Had the best experience here today! I purchased 3 fiddler crabs from Walmart and was given completely WRONG care instructions. I came to Petsmart looking for help on how to care for them properly. The girl in the fish department was honest with me and told me she didn't know too much about brackish water animals. She said she would do some research and we could learn together. (Best customer service) Well turns out one of the other workers was more knowledgeable but not clocked in yet. She still helped me anyways. There's good and bad. 2.5 stars here. I've had some good experiences and some pretty crappy experiences here. The good - the store is always clean and well stocked - at least for what I need. Now the issue... I think it all boils down to this: If the store isn't that busy, the employees are pretty helpful and friendly. If the store is busy, like it is on during most weekend hours, the staff isn't friendly. In fact, they were pretty rude when I was in on a Saturday. Maybe that's not a big deal for some, but for me I need consistency. I'll stick to the Yorba Linda location. read more

I took my doggy on vacation with me to Disneyland. I didn't want him to be bored or lonely at the hotel while I was having fun, so I decided to leave him at doggy day camp. I called the day before to make a reservation, and they let me know that I could drop him off as early as 7am and pick him up as late as 9pm for only $20. Just make sure that your dog has proof of rabies, distemper and bordetella vaccines. At the end of the stay, he also got a report card letting me know that he was a good dog. If I lived in the area, I would definitely take him back when needed. read more

After a subpar dining experience at Super Juicy Dumpling across the plaza way, my boyfriend and I decided to browse Petsmart's selection of animal species. Aside from the pungent smell of urine (as expected from such a popping animal friendly spot) the store was relatively clean. As we browsed up and down the aisles of the fish tanks, I said to my boyfriend John "why are these fish named after mean things?" and in came a helpful fish connoisseur, Tanaka. He briefly explained the origins of the fish and their wild like tendencies that resulted in their unfortunate names. I would buy a fish from here. If i wanted a fish. But I don't. I hate to say it, but I think I might just have to switch over from the Petco, across the street, to this Petsmart. Why have I never come in here? I have no idea. Although, it might be because parking can be a major PITA in this shopping center. With all the pedestrians and the cars backing out as slow as possible, it requires a lot of patience. Anyway, back to Petsmart. This review is mainly about their selection of dog clothing and accessories. This location has quite a selection of clothing and accessories for dogs! I was pleasantly surprised. The petco across the street usually only has a couple pieces that seem to stick around for months and months. I ended up spending $146 on dog clothes for my Gallagher, but it was totally worth it. Also, the customer service is on par! I was asked almost immediately if I needed any help finding anything (yes, snoopy apparel), and when I approached the checkout area, there was a bit of a line, and the cashier immediately called for back up. This is how it should be done. Overall, I saw so many things that my dog doesn't need, but I can't wait to go back and shop for him some more! Great service at the Pet Hospital. They keep our dogs healthy and well checked. Not too bad with the prices for shots and check ups either.

So, honestly speaking, we haven't purchased anything here. Hubby and I are still trying to prepare ourselves for having a puppy, and we're just trying to flood ourselves with information before we feel we're ready. We were in the area, I noticed the Petsmart, and hubby was cool on having us go in (sometimes he just doesn't want to deal with people). For me, any chance to see a puppy is always worth it! Anyways, we came in, and no awful smells smacked my nose like other ones. Very clean, very sanitary. Didn't see any accidents anywhere, and everything seemed to be organized and situated in every way. They have a salon towards the far back, and they have a pet hotel on the left-side when you first enter. They also have the cat adoption area on the right side. I didn't get any information on the pet hotel, but I know there are extra services you can purchase for your pet, such as special treats or special times for the pup on top of their basic service you purchase. They also had rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas, snakes, lizards, tortoises, and fish for sale, as well as a few types of birds. I'd rather try adopting one from one of the shelters (yes, the animal shelters do hold some more "exotic" pets, especially bunnies, rats, hamsters, snakes, and lizards. Check out the OC Animal Shelter, for example) than purchasing from a store. Anyways, Petsmart is a good place for the hubby and I to brainstorm. For example, if we need to pick up an emergency toy or need a new crate, we can get one from here (they normally close at 8pm or 9pm). And, we're very grateful that their employees have had no issues with us walking around. Some have come up to us, asking if we need any help. Overall, very courteous of the customers. Prices aren't too bad. I'm part of the email newsletter group, so I do get coupons pretty often. Some of their sales are nice, too. read more

Another Disappointment . Petsmart caused my dog extreme anxiety. I took her there for grooming and after 2 hrs of her being there, they called me to tell me she was sick with diarrhea. It seems that after bathing her, they were in the process of grooming her when she pooped all over herself and they had to bathe her again. I told them she had not been sick and was perfectly fine when I dropped her off. When I got her home, she was fine. It was Petsmarts mistreatment that caused her to get sick. read more

My dog Duncan is 10mos old. He has done doggy daycare and has been boarded there several times at the Brea Petsmart Pethotel. I highly recommend leaving your dog there if you need boarding. Bravo to the management team for hiring such a wonderful staff! So kind and loving. They remember Duncan every time I bring him. He gets lots of hugs and kisses. Very reassuring. I've looked into other boarding facilities that have fancy webcams and activities and although Duncan has never stayed there, I didn't get the positive and loving vibe that I get at Petsmart. My Dog Daisy has been going to Doggie Day Camp here for 3+ years, We live far from where I work (38 miles) so we commute together. I really LOVE the staff who work there! I would write down all of their names but please just take my word for it (and I would HATE to leave anyone out because 98% of the team is beyond my expectations.) Josh manager has really worked to listen to the pet parents concerns, even when I called about poor events/experiences that occurred at my local Petsmart doggie day camp (not his or in his district) he was proactive to help me problem solve and find a solution that worked for me. I appreciate the extra attention to customer service, thank you. The Pet Hotel is so great and I trust them to take care of my baby when I go out of town and can't bring her. I drive from Pasadena, drop her off in Brea then drive back to LAX for my flight. They give me progress reports over the phone and have help me with vet needs as well thank goodness for Banfield being there too. The great staff there truly loves animals and appears to has fun at work. I know they treat her like she is their baby. Daisy's Pawgress reports have included Ode to a lazy daisy and her daily activities including her best gal pals she always plays with. Miss Daisy has gained many nicknames from Princess, Sassy, Miss and Lazy Daisy. Frozen Dog ice cream is a favorite for Daisy but she is now on a strict diet so I appreciate everyone who rousts her out of her slumber to get her to play rather than just sleep in "her spot" on the castle. Due to the diet I can't thank everyone enough to telling me how much she eats am and pm to help me prevent over feeding. (PS the dog food it's included in the price.) I love this place and highly recommend it to all my patients and friends for their best friends needs. read more
