I brought my dog Churro to the PetSmart grooming salon in Chino Hills on March 6, 2026 for an upgraded grooming package that cost $54. I checked him in around 10:24 AM and received a call at 10:53 AM saying he was already ready, which immediately seemed unusually fast. When I picked him up and checked him in my car, he still had visible dirt on his stomach and clearly had not received a proper bath. I brought him back inside and spoke with Kate and Ella who were very kind and apologetic. They looked at him and acknowledged that he likely did not receive a full bath and explained that he had been anxious during the appointment. My issue is that I was told by the groomer Alexis that the full service was completed when it was not. When a manager named Amber came out, she was extremely dismissive and immediately said PetSmart does not give refunds based on "experience" without listening to the fact that the service itself was incomplete. I was not even asking for a full refund. I simply did not think it was fair to pay for an upgraded service my dog did not receive. Churro has been coming to this PetSmart location for almost six years since he first received his vaccinations here. After being treated this way and seeing my dog rushed through a service that was clearly not completed, I will unfortunately not be returning. Very disappointing experience. read more

This was our puppy's first grooming appt here. Bryanna and Yvette were so understanding and thorough with our first time puppy parent grooming questions. They let us know exactly how he was during his appt and what he needs improvement on. He's a very energetic breed (German shepherd, Australian shepherd, border collie mix) and even though grooming isn't his favorite, they were still so nice about it. Even the things he needs improvement on were still spoken about positively. We didn't have the best experience at another groomer so we were nervous about this one BUT they exceeded our expectations! Was hesitant at first, due to the not so great reviews on here but then I thought how people were quicker to complain online and leave scathing reviews. So we went ahead and booked a bath & brush for our big sheepie girl on the same day. Groomer Angela did a good job. Pup is free of all that beige, sandy brown stains from a day of playing outside, all clean and white. I let her know ahead of time that our pup wasn't a fan of the dryer on her face. She even put little blue bows on our pup's head - like pigtails, which I thought was a nice touch. Avoid this PetsMart in this dying shopping center and go to the Petco down the street instead. I placed and paid for an online order for some treats for our 15 yo cat that we're sadly putting down Today at noon. I received an email response saying the order was ready for pickup so I headed over, not even thinking about store hours, just that my order is ready. Upon arrival at 9:15 AM on Sunday I discovered that the store was closed, but the Grooming Section was open. A nice lady from the Grooming Section came to the door to greet me, at which time I explained my situation and she said she can't help because she works in the Grooming Section but she'll go speak with the Store Manager. She came back to the door where I was waiting and told me that the Manager won't help me, knowing full well after picking up other online orders from this store that my small already paid for item was sitting inside a shopping cart no less than 10' inside the store where I stood. I'll exclusively be shopping at Petco, Kahoots, and if necessary Chewy from now on, and I will not be picking up my online order from this PetsMart, I will not be returning to this PetsMart or any other PetsMart again; yes I recognize I write this in an emotional state. Took our dog to training classes here...both Beginner and Intermediate with Hannah. Hannah was a great instructor, and overall really liked the class programs. We saw improvement with our dog and learned what to practice at home with him. Hannah was also super helpful troubleshooting how to address specific behaviors. read more

They always have my pet food and my treats (well my dog's treats), and any accessories I have needed. They are stocked as well with Advantage/Advantix or Frontline for fleas. But the main reason I come here is for the dog grooming :) I have been working with Kileigh for the past 6-8 months or so, ever since she transferred to this store. She is very attentive to my dog and always does a great job on getting her knots out, grooming her, and always informing me of things she finds such as little moles, or matted areas, or even flaky areas that might cause itching. Today, she treated Coco with some oatmeal shampoo, brushed her teeth, got her all nice and pretty, and even helped me find a new leash for her. She is outstanding and i highly recommend her as a groomer. They have a pet hospital (Banfield) as well inside the store just in case anything does go wrong with your animal, so you kinda have some safety there as well! read more

Sent my poodle mix to get trimmed up with specific instructions: "Trim and tidy up fur - we like her maltese face cut, just need to make it look less unruly" - Some how from this, Bailey came back with a bizarre haircut. Her legs were completely buzzed down but her trunk, tail, and top of her head were left fluffy, unruly, and uneven with scraggly strands. She now has a narrow snout trim with a poodle afro top and fluff along her head down to her back... then becomes shaved legs. I even sent 2 separate pictures of other dogs for the face trim style. I know the hair will grow back but she looks ridiculous compared to previous times she was groomed. I won't be taking her back to this PetSmart for a grooming. The only thing that looks awesome is that her nails are well trimmed. The staff was nice. I'm just not pleased with the outcome of my dogs haircut. DO NOT COME HERE FOR GROOMING OR TEETH BRUSHING!!! I bring my dog to do the walk-in teeth brushing. The whole process was less than 5 mins and they told me they finished and my dog was doing well. BUT when I checked it, there was a black thing just on my dog's teeth! When I questioned them, they said it may be a teeth problem which needed to be seen by the vet. When I first heard that, I feel a little bit unbelievable because my dog was not one year old yet. How does he have teeth problem, a black hole or what? So when I went back to my car, I wiped his teeth and the black thing was off easily. So what kind of work they did? Just spray some breath refresher that's it? Is that called teeth cleaning? So I decided to go back and ask for refund. They told me they just do the basic teeth brushing like we brush our teeth every day. I questioned them if you did it well why the black thing was not off when you guys brushed it? They said they were not doing DEEP cleaning and they told me to go to vet to do the deep cleaning. WTF?! I was not asking for a deep cleaning like removing the yellow stain on their teeth and I don't think the vet needs to do this SIMPLE thing! THIS IS YOU GUYS' JOBS!! Are you telling your customers that you may still find something on their teeth or no difference at all after we do the teeth cleaning? Then why you guys have this service in your store and make $12 less than 5 mins work? STOP FINDING EXCUSES FOR YOUR UNPROFESSIONAL WORK! Another PetSmart, this one in southern California. The benefit of this location is it somehow feels much more spacious- the ceiling seems cleaner than other locations and there is less of a "pet food" smell overall. However, the reason for unfortunately taking off a star is the customer service seems to be lacking. We spent an inordinate amount of time waiting for an employee to assist us, even though they had been alerted. Eventually we just gave up and left. We realize the pandemic makes this a difficult time for everyone, but we did go during a relatively empty time- there were only perhaps 3 or so people in line at the most at the cashier, but there was no one it seemed in the store assisting customers, which is especially relevant in the aquarium section. This may have been because we visited in the after-lunch, 1pm time period, so perhaps the employees were out to lunch. Unfortunately, we hope there would have been more overlap in their lunch schedules so that we would be able to be assisted. The redeeming factor of this PetSmart compared to others is how clean and tidy the aisles are! We enjoyed walking among the various shelves of items that have been neatly-organized, with clearly marked aisles. The parking lot was also very spacious- without any trees though, so be warned if you're parking here on a hot day! The best spots are toward the entrance, with a Costco and UPS store right next door in case you need to pick up any groceries or mail out any packages! read more

However this sharpie-Holic made it her personal problem to be as unhelpful as possible. When I commented that their policy was lacking and didn't make sense she had to make it worse by saying "I'm doing you a favor to override and sell you 2 cans already that's very fair." What a stupid comment to make when you're already choosing to be difficult. I left and went to one of the other stores she suggested. Had a wonderful chat with the employee at the register who never asked for anything to be signed off by Banfield and handled sale of the bag I needed again already prescribed with prescription in hand and she was able to do it no questions asked. I used to like this place because the selection is a lot bigger than other local pet stores but the staff here are really mean and judgemental (with the exception of this one guy who seems to be the only kind worker in the whole store). Long story short but they never told consumers there was a recall on a certain brand of their dog food and when I asked them about it after bringing in the dog food with a weird substance growing in a sealed unexpired bag they gave a lot of attitude about it. Terrible service. I am shocked I know during this time we are all struggling but dog food? I purchased three 22 lb dog food from here which I've never had an issue with service or quality. However this time there was a small rip in one of the bags that was not noticeable until I started driving and it just spilled all over my passenger seat and floor. I called to inform them due to sanitary reasons and so it does not happen to anyone else. The "manager" Amber was extremely pushy, rude and did not make me feel at ease at all. She didn't ask for a Recept number, information or anything all she said is ok, bring it in we can refund you. Scoop up the kibble and throw it in a bag and bring it in. Making an extra trip back and the hassle of cleaning it up. I have kibble all over my passenger seat and floor. I just felt she could of been a little bit more understanding and helpful. I was rushed and hung up on very quick. I don't think I will go back. It's 3:24 in the afternoon I get it places may be busy but this is a very unprofessional way to treat customers who come and spend money on their THREE dogs. I am writing to you to let you know how frustrated I am with a grooming appointment I had scheduled for my dog 3 days ago. Prior to the appointment, I asked the groomers if they had a specific fur pattern that would match my dog's fur, to determine the length that needed to be cut. All of the options that I thought were suitable for my dog were not allowed by the groomers, and they told me that my dog's body had to be shaved due to his "matted" fur. It was Devin W. his "groomer" at 7:15 am 12/17/2021 @ 13001 Peyton Dr. Chino Hills, CA 91709 I was confused and the groomers never bothered to brush my dog's fur. With my dog's "matted" fur, the groomers refused to continue with the appointment unless I took my dog back home just to comb his fur. Nowadays, it is extremely difficult to schedule a grooming appointment and since I was already there at the salon, I decided to push through with it since the groomers had more knowledge than I did. I leave my dog at the grooming salon and return to my home. Thinking that my dog was finished with his grooming appointment, Pet Smart calls me after 3 hours. They gave me a status update stating that they had shaved my dog's face without my consent. I believe that there was no absolute point in calling me just to tell me that my dog's face had been shaved, the groomers should have called me before and asked. Enraged, I rush over to Pet Smart to pick up my dog. I am so mad, and disappointed! I spoke to the store manager and stated my concern about my dog's grooming appointment. The manager told me about their own grooming policies, which I was not aware of beforehand. Through the window, I saw the groomer bring out my dog and I was in absolute shock. My dog had little to no fur left and the groomer had planned to shave my dog even more. This time I spoke to the salon manager and she said that "In your eyes, your dog may not look the best right now but to them, they feel happy and relieved". I was completely appalled. I was crying seeing my dog like a rat! I don't understand why they did that to my dog. If he's matted, it could be the top of his head but not the entire body. He did not even touch my dogs fur. the two guys just looked at my dog and assume he was matted!. Though I am not a groomer, I believe that a groomer's job isn't just to maintain a dog's appearance, rather it is their responsibility to establish trust and to build a relationship with the dog. I feel as if the groomer failed to meet that responsibility. Considering the weather at this time of the year, my dog is now freezing because all of his fur had been shaved off, which is a crucial factor that the groomer did not take into account. After taking my dog home, I realized that his mannerisms have changed. The dog who was once playful and friendly became anxious and terrified. Additionally, my dog developed diarrhea the following day that stemmed from the stress he was under from the grooming appointment. Due to my frustration, the store and salon manager did not charge me for the grooming appointment. However, I believe that not being charged for this subpar service is not enough. I used to be a frequent shopper here for my dog C'thulhu, but after last week, I will NEVER return to this store. It's a shame too because some of these employees are very nice and helpful. The reason I will never return to support this store, however, is the manager Amber. My fiancée and I took our dog into the store to get some socialization training with our behavioral therapist and also spend about $75 worth of food and training supplies and were abruptly thrown out the door by the manager known as Amber. She tells us that this type of training competes with their store when A) I was told that this PetSmart doesn't even have an official dog trainer and B) PetSmart does not offer behavioral therapy for dogs. I could understand if we were stepping on their toes, so to speak, but they do not offer the training my dog needs and I thought these stores were dog-friendly. When we left, my fiancée got on the phone with regional manager Angela, who only reiterated that they indeed only care about the bottom line (money) and not making sure their customers are respected and appreciated. She told us that "it was competition for them", but we were not banned from the store. Oh, thank you sooooo much for allowing us to give you our money again, Angela! **strong sarcasm** Clearly I was the one who made the mistake in thinking a corporately-owned, publicly traded company would care about individual customers like me. Absolutely disgusted by the conditions in which Chino Hills PetSmart forces their animals to live. I've posted pictures of today's example. In their hermit crab habitat the water is tainted, and looks like some weird sludge is growing in it, a huge patch of mold is growing around the spoiled food, and what should be healthy, active crabs appear sick and/or dying. The smell was so stomach turning I had to leave the store. This kind of cruelty to animals of any kind should never be tolerated, lest of all in a "pet store". All of the staff here are extremely rude besides a younger girl that works cashier. All of the older employees clearly hate their jobs ESPECIALLY the Pet Care manager who is skinny and wears glasses. He was by far the rudest person here and was making up his own policies on fish returns which differ from Petsmart's official policies. This review is on their service. When my bf's dog was lost, I was able to come here and post a neat little card on their lost/found animals board near the entrance. One of the guys was so friendly, gave me all the necessary items to fill out the card. I felt like I was the mouse from "When You Give A Mouse a Cookie" but he was so friendly and took care of everything! Thank you! A greeter up front was very sympathetic and knew the right words to say to ease our troubles and offer her best wishes and hopes to finding our dog. We came back after our dog was found (so lucky!) and another staff member was so helpful in answering product questions. We also got a new tag here because it had fallen off the dog the day she got lost (be careful NOT to attach your leash to the cheap little ring of the tag, as it can break if your dog is pulling hard/ trying to run away from say, fireworks. ALWAYS attach your leash to the metal ring that comes with the collar!). I generally like Petsmart and always visit to check out their rodents in every location. Just look at my tip with photo. In some instances, pictures are better than words. I came here for a puppy trim as her hair was getting in her eyes. They said they would trim her visor, her face, and clean and pluck her ears. She smelled really nice and was really well brushed. However, her visor had a straight cut that made it look like a bowl cut. The hair on her face was also poorly shaped. My dog gets his grooming done at this Petsmart. I seem to be allergic to the citrus stuff they use on him... The staff is very friendly but they tend to keep him for a longer period... If I could rate a zero I would. I had an appointment for my dog and the grooming salon called to say the groomer didn't show up so they rescheduled me for Saturday at 10am. Fine, no problem. I dropped my dog off and her normal groomers were not there. This store has a high turn over of groomers. Red flag. I could tell the girl checking her in did not want to groom my dog. She said it was a bad day to bring her in because they had a lot of large dogs and if mine got aggressive I would have to pick her up. I should have reminded them that THEY are the ones who rescheduled me to this day and time. My dog has longer hair and they said it would cost me $40 extra dollars to brush her out which has never been quoted to me before. I've been taking her there for 5 years, spent thousands of dollars and never had a problem. I have an 82 pound German Sheppard. She just presented herself as not wanting to groom the dog. Within 20 minutes of leaving, I got a call saying my dog was aggressive and to pick her up. They told me that when she was in her crate, another dog walked by and she barked at it and lunged at the dog. I wish they took video to see their interpretation of aggressive because when I dropped her off, there was another big dog getting trimmed and when my dog walked right by it with no acknowledgement and no problem. Who knows what really went down but I really feel they are not interested in grooming large dogs. I am now going to another groomer, and not Petsmart. read more
