Extremely upsetting, I purchased a bag of Simply Nourished chicken and brown rice. I noticed my dogs did not really want to eat it however still ate it! when I went to serve my third dog I noticed dead moths with live maggots!!!! When I called the store I was told sometimes this can happen, not a big deal !!!! It may not be a big deal to you but to me it is ! I'm sorry if the bag was expired why is it still on the shelves to sell ??! This is really upsetting the fact the manager had really nothing to say is another thing, maybe she should not be in that position or working there !!!! Worst customer service out of all the pet stores near Chino / Chino Hills. There was a time when I called to ask if they had a certain type of fish and the answer was immediately no and they hanged up. Another time I asked if they had hamsters up for adoption, as ridiculous as this might sound it DOES exist in Petco and Petsmart when people return their hamsters back. They place the hamsters in the back and people are able to adopt them free of charge which is my preferred way of adopting hamsters since local shelters near my area don't have hamsters up for adoption. However, when I called and asked him he had this disbelief and rude tone in his voice and said he'd check. 3 SECONDS LATER he says no we don't. He obviously didn't bother checking and was extremely rude about this whole call like I was wasting his time. Ridiculous. The only good thing about this Petsmart is that they have good products to sell with a fair price. However, if possible, stick to Kahoots pet store at Chino Hills. I love this Petsmart! The employees are extremely helpful, and most know what they're talking about. You don't always find that at the chain pet stores. Their new treats program is awesome as well! I've saved quite a bit of money by using it, and you can play games on the petsmart app to win even more coupons and savings! They are always having great sales, and every time I go in there there's tons of items on clearance. I've found many small animal toys and chews for under $1! This petsmart is my favorite in the area. Plus, their crickets are significantly cheaper than petco! Go to the one at diamond bar instead. I took my babe to get a bath and brush at 4pm ( 15/03/2017) and they called me around 8:15 pm to pick her up. They took more than 4 hours to give her "bath&brush"???? This is really ridiculous. When I came to pick her up, I realized that her face still looked really dirty ( like did you really wash her !!!!) I told the staff to re-wash her again and they did . However, I didn't check it clearly after that, because they were closing soon. ( it was 8:45pm at that time ) When I got home I checked her again and found out that they DID NOT do their job. I always go to this place whenever I need something for my aquarium and just today I went there to buy something for my cichlids . They marked the item buy one regular price and the nxt will be 1/2 price. So when I already paying I notice that they charged me with out the discount. This store supplies all of my pets needs just as any other petsmart or petco could. This store has horrible customer service, along with a poor friendly attitude. Just recently adopted a red nose pitbull puppy, only 9 weeks old. First exam and second exam at this petsmart banfield was horrible. Regardless of size or age, animals should be treated correctly and not abused. They smacked my dog and was jerking her around and yelling at her. Understand as a puppy or kitten their picked up by the skin on their neck but after a certain age, about 8 weeks animals should be properly picked up and carried correctly. " How would you like it if someone picked you up by your skin on your neck?" As animals grow and gain weight being handled like that hurts them. Recently, my puppy had a bit of a slip and fall down 3 stairs and was whining and limping, so right away took her to the banfield hospital and I waited 2 hours before they would even see her on top of an hour just to get an X-ray exam done. They said she wasn't of concern as it was only 3 steps and she looked fine. I'm sorry, but all animals in need of care or not right away are always of concern. After hours of waiting and it was time to pay, the front desk assistant was rude and said give me your card so I can make sure it goes through, before giving me my puppy back on top of them trying to charge me for medicine for her and that I never recieved. Long story short, this banfield should not be in service and the rating earned was 1 star. This business and location will never see, handle or have my business with my puppy or additional family and friend animals again. read more

I went here because my little pup needed a good grooming. She was shedding like a mofo so I needed that to stop. Upon entering, the groomers are to the right of the store. Honestly, the whole vibe is old and run down but the people working there are more than kind. Book an appointment ahead of time and make sure your pup (I don't know, do people groom their cats? Silly me I know but really, I can't be the only one thinking that...) has its rabies shot done. You will need to bring in a certificate stating. I paid about $40 for wash and ferminator for her hair. Teeth brushing and I forgot the other was additional $15 but I declined as I do it myself but when I picked her up I noticed it was done on her report free of charge. They kept their word saying the whole bath will take 3-4 hours. When the third hour marked they called me on cue. She was so clean and the loose hairs were gone, I can have her in the home now for a little while. 4 stars for the extra love and a happy pup~ read more

GROOMING REVIEW. Do not bring your dog here! I brought my puppy here on Sunday and let them know my requests in terms of how I wanted the haircut. I was NOT heard. My dogs eye lashes were cut and her hair was cut extremely short that it caused her to have irritation in her rear. Upon bringing my puppy home, she started shaking her head a lot. I took her to the vet and they told me she has an ear infection!!!! My puppy was perfectly fine prior to taking her to get groomed. Not only did I pay for a crappy haircut, I had to pay for my puppy's medications. Now she's at home with an irritated rear and ear infection. Yay. read more

This review regards their grooming services. I have a two year old Maine Coon mix (cat) who had never been groomed before aside from getting nail trims and furminated at home by me, so I knew this first professional grooming experience would be stressful for Sox. Liz took care of him yesterday and gave him such love and care. As soon as he came out of his carrier she gave him a big hug and some reassuring pets. What I loved was how communicative they were with me. They straight up told me he didn't like the dryer at all so he was going to be pretty wet (something they had already warned me about). Which I appreciated so much. Once I took him home and he was all dry he recovered from his little field trip very quickly and has never felt this soft. I've been to many Petsmarts and although this is the closest one to my house, I try as much as I can not to go here unless I really, really, REALLY need something for my dog and even if I do need something, I prefer to drive 10 minutes more to another one. I started going here because of the proximity and because I was taking my new pup to training classes here. Yes, this location has the basics you need but there are times that some of products are missing from the shelves. Also, for whatever reason, every time I go there (which isn't as much as the others locations mind you), there is always a few buckets placed around the store to catch the water leaks from the ceiling. I first saw this in 2010 up to 2013. Its 2014 and I haven't seen any buckets so far so hopefully they finally made the repairs? Maybe it's slow or there is a downtime when i do go there but there are always two or more workers standing around not doing anything and just talking to each other. Now to be fair again, let's say they are discussing "work" but I still wonder why I always see this each time I visit. The big thing for me is that the cashiers are always frowning or unhappy. There have been a few times they after I pay, the cashier waits for me to leave while I wait for them to place my 4 pound package of dog food in a bag (which can still fit in a plastic bag btw). I could understand if they asked me first "would you like a bag?" and I said "no" but they have never asked and I always have to ASK them to please bag the food/ items....and they reluctantly do....with a frown. I've been to the other Petsmarts (Chino, Industry, West Covina, Brea) and the workers there are much more customer service oriented. I don't see workers just standing around gossiping to each other or when you walk by they just look at you and don't say anything. Makes you wonder where's the supervisor or the manager during those times. Lets be honest, people may not like there jobs but at least make an effort to make it a pleasant experience to shop there. I guess that's why I rather drive an extra few miles away. The customer service experience does help a business stay in business. I'll give this place 3 stars because it does have the products my dog needs in a crunch. read more

The Chino Hills Petsmart is RIDICULOUS! Try to avoid this location, if possible. They have the worst customer service BY FAR, and the managment is a joke. I made the mistake of contacting corporate about the many issues I've had with this store. After, i was contacted by one of the managers, Amber, who wanted to know everything-this was a little awkward since i wanted my complaint to stay anonymous, but she was easy to speak to and seemed to genuinely care. The next morning i recieved ANOTHER call from the other manager Fred, stay away from this guy. I told him i couldn't talk and that i had already spoken to Amber, but he was certain that Amber did call me even though i told him several times that she did. I didn't want to talk to him, but he wouldn't let me off the phone. He said he saw his name on the complaint and wanted to know why, and he kept asking why why why. I kept saying that i had to go, but he persisted on asking questions- "when did it happen?" It was all very uncomfortable, and this is exactly how he acts in store. I've used this PetSmart for the past 9 years. They workers and managers have alway been helpful, friendly, knowledgable and caring. They always have time to greet me and my dog. The manager is often out in the store with the employees setting an example. The groomers at this PetSmart have almost always been great. They listen to what I tell them I want and have made sure to make notes about what is important to remember about grooming my dog. I've been through a few groomers over the past 9 years. The person grooming my dog has changed mostly because the groomer has moved out of the area and no longer work there. Stephanie is the one that usually takes care of my dog. She always does a great job. She always notes if there are any issues (flees, ticks, hot spots, etc) that she finds and has always been on time, even for the early morning appointments. read more

This is where hubby and I go to get the birds some goods. Service is okay. Not overly friendly and not underly unfriendly. =| Here's my most memorable experience at this place: One day I went in just to look at the birds with no intention to buy. They had this one green cheek conure that I kept looking at. It went closer to the edge of the cage. I nervously stuck my fingers in between the bars in fear of getting bitten and the bird gently tilted its head towards my fingertips to receive a massage on the head. It was so cute and it ruffled its feathers and couldn't get enough of the massage! Then these dumb kids (teenagers) came along. And since I'm nice I showed them how to gently touch the bird since they were so curious. Then they showed their dad and then they stayed there forever so I never ever had another chance to interact with it again. I went back the next day and the bird was gone. =( read more

Download the app they said to receive curbside delivery. So downloaded the app and waited for the order to be ready for pickup. 2:45 minutes later, the order was still not ready did pickup. I called to pick it up and asked them if they could just have the order pulled so I could just load it when I got there. There was no customers in line and I saw 5 people working, but no one was able to pull the orders. Why do they say that they have order fulfillment when they really don't. What a waste of time. The groomer did a nice job on the trim but is horrible in customer service: 1. Told me she could have the dog groomed by 2pm for her vet appointment. 2. Didn't have the 2.8lb dog groomed until almost 4pm - this caused us to be almost 2 hours for the vet appointment (after driving over an hour to get there, then have to stay in the city from 11:45am - almost 6pm) 3. Used the excuse that it was "Saturday, so there are a lot of dogs" - instead of being professional and scheduling appropriately. 4. The groomer didn't care that they misrepresented themselves. 5. In the future, I'll use the mobile groomers; they charge the same but come to your house at a specific pre-arranged time. read more

I took my puppy Maltese to get groomed here and I asked over the phone what the cost would be. The service I got was a haircut and bath. I was quoted no more than $45 dollars if the dog has some hair matting and $32.00 if the dog didn't. When I went to pick her up they had added an additional 7 dollars for matting coming out to $52.00 dollars and they weren't able to give my dog the hair cut I wanted. They said my dog didn't like the groomer touching her face. So not only did I not get what I wanted I was charged extra 7 dollars. I normally go to the PetSmart in City of Industry who would have charged me the $45.00 regardless of the matting. I guess I will be going back, This is the second time I tried this PetSmart grooming in Chino Hills. Never again. read more

This last time she was soooo stressed they took her to the vet next door. She was perfectly fine , they overreact, they are incompetent when it comes to helping dogs through an appointment, and they are clearly NOT loving and soothing with dogs. Don't go there. TIP: Save a little money by having a weekday appointment ($3 cheaper vs. weekends) 3.5 Stars for Banfield Vet Hospital ---------- 5 stars for Dr. Niu, 5 stars for the vet techs, 1 star for the crazy long wait you usually have to endure. Dr. Niu is friendly and so easy to talk to, it's like talking to a friend. The only criticism I have is that the wait can get ridiculously long, especially if you come on the weekends or after work. The wait is long even if you have an appointment. It takes long before seeing the vet. It takes long to check out and pay... Just waits all around TIP: If you can, try to avoid picking up your pet or having appointments around 4-6pm weekdays, especially Friday after work. Weekends are bad too. If you do, expect to wait at least 45 min. 3 Stars for Store ---------- Overall neat and tidy, shelves are organized, and aisles are wide and clean. There is even a poop station in the parking lot so your dog can do its business outside. Too bad my dog likes to poop IN their store :] read more

Last night I made a appointment to get my dog washed,teeth cleaned , ears cleaned and nails trimmed . I was able to take her at 7am this morning. I had told my husband the wrong place and we were twenty minutes late , and they still took us no problem . Everyone there was soo helpful and nice. I intend on avoiding this Petsmart at all costs. The employees here are unprofessional, rude, and aggressive. Yesterday, my husband and I stopped there to get our bird some food. I opted to stay in the car since it was raining. About 5-10 minutes after my husband leaves I get a phone call from him. He sounded so shocked and upset as he explained what he just went through. My husband walks into the Petsmart, and as soon as he walks in the cashier stops what she's doing and stares at him, then proceeds to talk into her walkie talkie. He continues to walk in, about 5 steps in, a gentleman Petsmart employee pops out of an aisle, stops him in his tracks and asks him "What are you looking for? What do you need? Can I help you?". My husband was a little taken back and says "No thank you", he tries to walk away and the gentleman keeps asking him. As my husband walks away, the gentleman says something under his breath which sounded a lot like "F*cker". My husband turns around to go into the bird food aisle, only to be stopped in his tracks AGAIN, this time by two female Petsmart employees. This time, they were even MORE aggressive, in his face about a foot away, "What do you need sir?" , "What brings you into Petsmart?" "What can we help you with?". They were almost following him around as if they thought he was gonna steal some bird food. After hearing this, I decided to go into the store to see what was going on. I walked into the store, looked at the cashier - and NOTHING. She didn't greet me or talk into her little walkie talkie. I proceed to walk down the aisles - and NOTHING, I passed several employees and not ONE of them asked me if they could help me or even acknowledge that I was there. I finally found my husband who I could tell was shocked. I found an employee, who was way too busy to help me and asked to see the manager. Well she WAS the manager, and was way too busy, she said she'd help me in a little bit. So I waited and finally she returned. I told her about her employees and the way they stalked and harassed my husband. She proceeded to tell me that they were conducting a "training" on customer service. So I asked her "so you are conducting a training right now? On your ACTUAL customers?". She said yes. I said well your employees are aggressive and not at all welcoming or helpful. She "apologized" but claimed they did nothing wrong. Of course I called corporate to complain and have an open case. However, I felt the need to share this on Yelp because, we believe they profiled him - it's just not right to treat people like they did something wrong or that they are not welcome. I have been in MANY Petsmarts in Southern California and I have NEVER had employees seek you out and watch you the way these people did. To begin, if I could give less than a one star review, then I most certainly would for several reasons. First, entering the store at the time I made the appointment for my pet to be groomed proved to be questionable since the doors were less than half opened. I was only invited in by what seemed to be a person carrying storage boxes (he had no uniform or name tag for me to properly identify him). Next, the individual I met to discuss the appointment details seemed, upon sight, to be less than confident with grooming my dog's hair. I told her that the length of my dog's fur was roughly 3 inches long and what I expected to see when I came back was at least an inch trim. In her defense, she stated that the maximum length she could keep the hair was an inch long, and the length she portrayed with a grooming brush seemed to be adequate. But I was horribly mistaken to no fault by mine later on. Continuing, I received a phone call from a Petsmart employee explaining how certain areas of my pet's fur were matted. She tried to give me an option of shortening the length all around to match the areas (the underbelly and butt regions) which would be shaven down. I replied along the lines of "No thanks, I'm fine with my original description." Again, I would be sorely disappointed with their amateur performance. Lastly, when I arrived to pick up my dog, another employee told me, "Because of your dog's age and stress levels during the latter part of the grooming session, we recommend you take her to the vet." I took the advice as a physical health warning for the protection of my pet, but after seeing their poor, tragic attempt at grooming her I knew their caveat truly meant to discourage me from ever returning. This is due to the terrible customer service that I have had to endure on multiple occasions now at this specific location. He's completely uninterested in helping to resolve issues in any way. OK so last February and March I adopted my first two pets all on my own!! A mini schnauzer and a chihuahua terrier mix thank god he looks more terrier than chihuahua haha So ever since I've been going to petsmart for my grooming, vet, and training. I'm most happy with the grooming and training. I try and groom my dogs at home but there r some stuff I can't do like clean the pads of their feet and nail clipping (they won't let me haha). My lil terrier mix bites if u touch his paws and face but the grooms at petsmart r really fantastic w him. HAVE HEATHER groom ur pet she's awesome. There was only one time where I wasnt please w what I saw and it wasn't my dog... Another groomer was grooming a dog when I brought mine in and she was kinda yelling at him to quit moving it was the tone I didn't care for. But other than that I'm happy with their grooming. I went with Melissa for training I liked her a lot. It was successful training sessions with beginners and intermediate however, and this just might be how the class is but I felt that we really didn't LEARN A WHOLE lot of new stuff in the intermediate class. But overall I'm happy my dogs still have stuff to work on, but r much different from when we started. As for the vet ... I'm half satisfied with them. I have the wellness plan but I don't think id get it again I really am still unsure if u really save as much as they say! Also I have not been happy with either flea products they sell... Used the first shield and my dog still had fleas now uses the pill and maybe better but not sold on those products. The staff is pretty good and helpful so can't complain there! All in all been happy at this petsmart. Btw another reason why Heather the groomer is amazing .... I was walking in as her and another coworker were leaving and the girl goes what a cute puppy and Heather goes "oh that's Milo" i was SO impressed bc I don't bring him in ALL the time for grooming just here and there's!! Todays my experience at his location was horrible. I had a simple question regarding koi fish . I wanted to know. What other fish would be able to live along with koi as my daughter was gifted a baby koi. So before i purchased anything I wanted to See what my potions were . so there was a Woman called to help me . I asked her the question as to whattypes of fish could live with koi fish she was rude and unhelpful employee. She proceeded to ask me what type of tank I had and I explained my daughter had just got it and I had a 10 gallon tank kind this is a small fish. She continued to talk of how afullni was and how it was illegal to sell any fish if we did not have a89 gallon tank , yet the Store had like 15 fishes in a small 5 gallon tank what do we call this Horrible condition According to her own words . The point is she was the worst help and actually no help.I will not come back to this store. read more

Visited store on Friday, 7-13-18, in the late afternoon. Look at the reviews, this is only a duplicate of what others have said. I dealt with the Manager (although I thought it must have been an employee, and was going to complain), and she was rude. We took our purchases to an empty cash register that was attended by the Manager. There were 3 people at the other cash register. When we set our purchases on the counter, she told us that we would have to wait as she was pulling customers from the other cash register first. There was no apology, there was no customer waiting line as in other stores who practice this way of serving customers. We then proceeded to the grooming area and asked what age the Senior Discount would honor as my husband and I are both retired and clearly Senior Citizens. The grooming staff didn't know and had to ask her what the age was. She stated it was the "normal, 65 years old" and that it was only on Tuesdays. When I pointed out the sign did not specify that, she told me that the sign also reads "Ask an Associate" which would clarify the requirements. When asking who this person was, I was told she was the Manager. I have since been told that many customers have had the same treatment. We are patrons of the Chino store and couldn't be happier. I will NEVER visit this store again, and hope that PetSmart Corporate will recognize the need to replace this manager. read more
