So this PetSmart is my regular stop for pup supplies and nail trims because - dun dun dun - it is so darn close to home and they carry the small breed Wellness dog food that I buy. The groomers are polite and get us signed in quickly when we stop for a visit, but we've left with nails trimmed nice and neat and nails that aren't much shorter than they were to start with. I never want to ask someone to trim shorter than they are comfortable with... Just a bummer that a lackluster job cost the same as one well done. I have not scheduled any other grooming services or boarded my pups here. If my pups didn't run and hide under the sofa when I pull the nail trimmers, I would do that at home myself, too.

Staff did know what time the store closed. Is is 7pm, 6pm or 6:30pm? Updated sign needed.

I usually never have an issue bringing my dogs here for grooming, which is why this experience was…read moreso disappointing. I picked up my dogs on Friday, and when I finally got a closer look at my fluffy corgi, I noticed she looked almost like my standard corgi. A significant amount of her fur had been cut from her butt, legs, and mane area. Normally, when I drop my dogs off, staff ask what type of grooming or cut I want. This time, no one asked, so I assumed they would follow the usual grooming notes they keep on file for my dogs. I was rushing to pick them up before closing and had to get back on the highway, so I didn't notice the haircut until I reached my destination. The before-and-after difference was very noticeable, and not only did I notice it, but several other people commented on how short her fur had been cut. What upset me most was the lack of communication. No one contacted me to confirm cutting off that much hair, and I didn't receive a call or text before the grooming was done. When I called and asked who groomed her, the manager told me it was the same groomer who usually works on my dogs and said she didn't know why the cut was done this way. At the same time, she mentioned seeing my dog on the grooming table and noticing she wasn't fixed yet and had already gone to daycare without anyone realizing--again, without any confirmation or communication with me. I've been a loyal customer and consistently leave 20% or higher tips because I appreciate good service. Unfortunately, this situation didn't feel like it was handled with genuine accountability or concern for what happened. I'm very disappointed with this experience. I trusted that my dogs' grooming history and preferences would be followed or, at the very least, confirmed with me beforehand. Sadly, this experience makes me feel like I may need to find another place for grooming.

Our first experience speaks volumes: We moved from out of state, and were in a short term rental that didn't allow dogs. Along the way, our GSD Knight developed a problem attitude around being kenneled, which resulted in him getting asked to leave a couple of boarding places, which was super distressing. Forest Shadows was recommended by a friend who warned me they had a couple low online reviews at the time, but she personally attested to how great they were with her 2 nippy dogs. Since I trusted her and we needed help, we reached out, discussed his behaviors, and enrolled him in the Board & Train 2 week program which worked perfectly with our timeline. It was a GOD-SEND. Long story short: Knight came back to us super happy and way better trained. The staff communicated specific adjustments to help his kennel issues, monitored situations when our dog didn't respond well, adjusted accordingly, and more importantly expressed they "weren't going to give up on him and were willing to keep trying." I literally cried when they told me that. What really exemplifies Forest Shadow's amazing staff is our experience moving out of the US during the global pandemic. After we sold our home, we boarded Knight, we flew to the UK, and relied on Forest Shadows to work with our Pet Relocation team so he could join us overseas. The relocation process got delayed a few times, and he ended up boarding with Forest Shadows for just over 2 months. During this trying time, they were patient, flexible, willing to assist, and sympathetic to our changing circumstances. I was so grateful we didn't have to stress about our dog! All the staff delivered great customer service: front desk Ms. Terri helped me understand the best combination of services, both Ms. Rachaels facilitated our visits, Mr. Terry was great at doggy day care, and Trainer Terry even did a refresh training. In particular, Ms. Laurie and Mr. Michael were our angels, as they worked with me and the pet travel company, kept me posted regarding food, medicine, and treat needs, and helped me problem solve issues like getting him transported for health checks, and even finding a USDA approved Vet. We are truly grateful that Forest Shadows never gave up on our vocal uber-energetic GSD, and they were absolutely instrumental in helping us move our furkid overseas so he could be home with us. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND them and can attest to their level of commitment.

Approximately 10 seconds after my initial search, it was very obvious that Scott was the easy decision. He's been collecting reviews for years and virtually all of them are 5-stars. It was a virtual guarantee that we would be happy if we called Scott. So we called Scott. Yes, these services are not cheap. But you get what you pay for and what you pay for here is a human being who speaks dog. Owning a puppy can be the source of unlimited stress, but you can really minimize that stress when you have someone like Scott to help you learn how to tackle all of the issues that pop up along the journey. And honestly, you plan to have a puppy in your life for many years - getting good behavior for potentially a decade+ is not money you are going to regret spending. We purchased the middle-tier package which consisted of 5 visits (4 in home and 1 at a park) + the opportunity to reach out to him whenever we have any future issues and need a bonus session or just some help. Scott came to our house for visit #1, and I will never forget how hard I laughed when he *immediately* transformed our girl from a cracked out puppy to a completely submissive and obedient dog after a simple, two-step action. And his method is never to hurt your dog - this is all done by just mimicking the behavior of an older dog who is teaching a puppy how to behave. Each visit resulted in better and better behavior. As of this writing, our puppy is 5 months old, but we have greatly accelerated her emotional intelligent, far behind her actual age. Our last visit was at a big park that had a dog park and a playground. There were a bunch of kids playing on the playground and they wanted to come say hello and pet our dog. Of course, I forgot all of *my* training and was failing to control her from jumping and being crazy. Scott patiently watched me messing up, and eventually, calmly walked over, took the leash, did his two step command, and just like the first day: POOF, it was like an exorcism. Suddenly, she was calm and submissive, allowing the toddlers to pet her without anymore lunatic behavior. The group of parents literally ooh'd and ahh'd at this marvel. I'm so glad others were able to witness his magic. And I'm so glad Scott was one of our first calls after we brought Birdie into our lives. I highly recommend you do the same.
