Absolutely ridiculous experience. The cashier refused to sell my mom a betta fish and immediately started lecturing her instead of respectfully explaining the store's policy. She even told my mom that she "needed to do more research," which was incredibly condescending. The irony is these bettas are sitting in tiny plastic cups at the store, yet somehow she felt the need to judge and embarrass a paying customer. If that's PetSmart's policy, fine--but train your employees to explain it professionally instead of talking down to people. We'll definitely never be coming back! read more

She was extremely knowledgeable on the hamsters and luckily she informed us that the cage we picked out wasn't really suitable for the specific hamster we settled on. We were excited about taking the puppy up to Petsmart becoming a member of their vet care program and also becoming part of their grooming but after how horrible the vet and the vets office was, I will never spend another dollar in Petsmart they took somebody that was going to spend $$82 a month on vet care and $80-$120 a month in pet grooming along with all the other items that would've been purchased for my puppy. So this PetSmart is my regular stop for pup supplies and nail trims because - dun dun dun - it is so darn close to home and they carry the small breed Wellness dog food that I buy. The groomers are polite and get us signed in quickly when we stop for a visit, but we've left with nails trimmed nice and neat and nails that aren't much shorter than they were to start with. I never want to ask someone to trim shorter than they are comfortable with... Just a bummer that a lackluster job cost the same as one well done. I have not scheduled any other grooming services or boarded my pups here. If my pups didn't run and hide under the sofa when I pull the nail trimmers, I would do that at home myself, too. read more

I don't have a pet, but as a favor for a friend, I brought her dog here for a little TLC (grooming) at the PetSmart Salon. The appointment was scheduled last minute - same day, within the hour (by my friend) and they were able to take me without any issues. My friend sent a photo of how she wanted her dog to look, and they were able to use it as a reference. I'm really glad they honored the Yelp check-in offer...you just never know with businesses these days! I went ahead and loved my neighbor as myself, checked in and got $5 off her bill too which was sweet! For a little under $70, "Lyla" (my friend's dog) received the works - grooming, wash, conditioning, and nail cutting/grinding. The staff was very friendly and listened to my ridiculous rambling with interest (ha!). They did upsell, but the additional service (due to matted hair) were needed, and they weren't at all pushy. April has a lot of patience with dogs and their owners and she's a nice person to be around. My rescue dog Hazel is a challenge. When it's opened (per the store's request), one would think it's common knowledge to shut it after placing the order in there. Well stocked immaculately clean new store. I am hoping it remains this way. Staff here is informed and cares about the animals and the customers. If they cannot answer a question they will find someone who will. If you need help locating or lifting something finding an employee to assist is simple and easy. They will even help take heavy and large items out to your car if need be. They have partnered with Montgomery County Animal Shelter and Abandoned Animal Rescue to do pet adoptions and have some adorable well cared for cats {that really need a good loving *responsible* home!!!} in store all the time. read more

I recently took a sweet almost year old pup off the street in the heat over the weekend and as any person does when finding an animal, they want to make sure they are giving the best care they deserve. We noticed she has very little fleas and some ticks so I called to make an appointment. The 1st go around at this location we were refused service due to her having to be 48 hours on her vaccinations (understandable) came back the next and refused again as the pup has a limp from an injury that is over 2 months old and is currently in vets care on antibiotics. ALL OF THESE WERE COMMUNICATED WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CALL LINE AS WELL WITH THE ACTUAL GROOMERS AND NOT ONCE DID THEY SAY THE DOG NEEDS TO BE CLEARED 48 HOURS AFTER GIVEN VACINATIONS AND NOTHING ABOUT IT BEING A RISK FOR A LIMP FOOT!! Now I would have been more understanding IF I was told on the phone it's a risk to have your pup here! It seemed soon as the word tick and flea bath was mentioned inside, they were quick to rush us out the door refusing service. The chick at the front who was trying to seem like she ran the place was condescending and insensitive to the matter. That really put the icing on the cake of everything else going on with life and what's going on with inflation & gas! If you rescued an animal, just save yourself the trouble and go to a small local pet groomer for your grooming needs. Real Experience! You decide if you would like to pay money here. I asked when I scheduled the appointment for Sunday if they would have time if we did a 3pm appointment for the groomers with ?Debbie/Demi on the phone. She assured me they had enough time no problem because the store closes at 7pm in Sunday. I called 45 mins prior to my appointment to let them know that I had run into traffic and was going to be 20 mins late. The lady that answered the phone said no problem I will let your groomers know you are running late. When I arrived Bria in front of me (never addressing me ...not even a hello as Sasha was checking me in) tells Sasha something inaudible but I gather she was trying to tell her that we were late and another groomer needed to do the cut. Then she said to Sasha she would do it THIS time. Sasha proceeds to check me in. She explains that they can't take me when I'm late but they will do it THIS time. I reminded here I did call in prior. She proceeds to asks me do I want teeth brushing and nail grinding. After the conversation I over heard with her and Bria, I said no thank you since you said I was already late. After doing so and as she was checking my dog...I told her I was late and one leg needed be combed out but I didn't have time since I was already late. I told her I was willing to pay or do it myself since I knew how to get it out. Sasha said it didn't matter that was willing to pay they didn't have time since the were (now) closing at 6pm. I said I understand that it takes extra time but it was something I planned to do but didn't want to be even later. I told her I had schedule today because I was leaving in the morning. I even asked if they could take him first thing. They said no the soonest they could get me back in was the next afternoon. I said it wouldn't work but allowed them to cut my other dog. I told them I would get another groomer to do it and proceeded to make arrangements. They called to let me know at 5:40pm my dog would be ready in 10 minutes and Demi (?) said that she wanted to let me know they "would be closing at six or six-thirty today". Question: Is the service based on what time the groomer wanted to leave since the time was flexible for a franchised store? Question: So does all PetSMart have flexible hours? Question: So is that a viable option to tell an owner you will shave the one leg and blend it in when you want to leave early? Update: Willow Creek Kennel told me their groomers had left for the day and they were full the next day. When I explained what had happened they said hold on. They came back to the phone and said that I could bring my dog in at 8:30 when the bathers get there and the groomers would take us at 9am when they arrived. TOTALLY DIFFERENT Customer experience! The groomer that did cut my Shih Tzu did a good job. So they didn't get zero stars. My husband has also had issues with the management there just trying to buy some prescription dog food. They didn't want to sell him the food because the internal store card had expired which he didn't know it expires since the dogs are on it permanently. All what was required was to go to the onsite vet and have them issue a new internal store card. It's not even a prescription which we get from the vet. Needless to say now we just but from another store. We had issues with grooming before but decided to try again after 2-3 years. Oh well! We tried. read more

Another instance where I wish there was a 0 star option. We dropped our 6 pound super sweet and calm, 2 and half year old Havanese doggie off for his noon appointment. We were told he'd be ready at 3:30 pm--kind of strange they need 3.5 hours--isn't that the purpose of an appointment? Anyways, we left him and were off to run errands. Within an hour, the Petsmart groomer calls to tell us that our dog is "distressed" and they can't finish. Please note, this was maybe his 7th or 8th grooming experience and nobody has ever before complained or failed to finish the job. My husband offered to come and accompany the dog throughout his groom so he would be calm. When we arrived, 10 minutes later, we immediately notice our dog is bleeding--the inexperienced groomer cut him, which certainly explains his "distress". The groomer blamed his teeny bit of matting (he is a Havenese, it happens even though we bathe and brush him weekly/daily), yet somehow this has never been a problem for any other groomer. The Banfield vet gave him some glue for the wound and another groomer offered to finish the job--at her home--for free. NO THANKS. We immediately took him to another groomer based on our vet's recommendation (Forest Shadows Pet Resort)...not only did they fit him in within 10 minutes of our calling, but they completed the job to perfection, NO PROBLEMS, and we picked him up one hour later. They did a wonderful job and we will certainly be back. I wish I could post a picture of how he turned out, because it was beautifully--NO THANKS to the incompetent folk over at PetSmart. I also wish I could post a photo of his wound--it is awful. I'm not sure how we made it out of the store without yelling at someone, but we calmly left and are now drafting this review. I hope we can at least save YOU the time and save your dog the trauma that we dealt with today. read more

If a zero star were available I would give them that. I dropped my 5 year old healthy calm lab off at 10am. We opted for the express service since he also had a vet appointment. An hour later we received a phone call saying he was too distressed to take the drying treatment so he would dry in a kennel for an hour and the vet would call when she was done. That sounded fine and left us to assume he was washed, ears cleaned and claws clipped. I kept calling all day and he "wasn't ready yet". My suspicions grew so I went up there anyway to retrieve him. It was 6 when he was finally turned over to me, in the EXACT SAME CONDITION I dropped him off in. To add insult to injury, the Banfield nurse told me he was brought over to them because he was "being disruptive" to them in the grooming area! Further more, he had been left in a kennel since 11 am till I came to pick him up. When we dropped him off we stressed to them he had trama from a previous owner and to not lock him up all day without taking him out and keeping him hydrated. My poor dog drank two full dog bowls of water and went out side to do his business for much longer than usual because of these people. All the manager did was stare at the floor like a scolded child and say "Well we don't expect you to pay for anything". In the mean time, I have a right mind to report them and this treatment of my dog to the SPCA because let's face it, if it happened to my dog and apparently according to another review a similar situation happened, than it will happen again. So be warned. Proceed with caution if you still go. The workers are lazy at best and inexperienced to say the least. read more

This has now been the third time I have gotten horrible and now snarky service. Normally once would be enough but this location is just across the street, needless to say I will be making the extra mileage from now on to go to PetCo. First off yesterday I went got an aquarium where the girl was super helpful and I thought Knowledgeable to the point where I even called and left a message complementing her because it was fantastic to finally get good service! Well after setting up the tank and doing everything she told me to I go to get the fish the next day where Logan proceeds to tell me everything I was told was wrong I have to wait at least a month to put fish in and I can't even get the fish I was told I could get and in a condescending tone even telling me my math is off at one point. Not helpful or understanding or offering other solutions, basically no customer service skills. I bought a glow aquarium so it's pointless if I can't get glow fish and I didn't spend over $100 for a beta. I work with people everyday and get cussed out at least once a day during this pandemic, on my one off day it would have been great to have had an employee be nice but I guess he wasn't feeling it. read more

This was my dog's second grooming service. The first was fine and I have no complaints but today when I picked him up they told me he pooped himself in the kennel. I took my dog into this location today to get him shaved and they cut him pretty severely on His bottom. When I came to pick him up they told us that he had a hot spot he had prior to the service from licking. First of all my dog can't even reach the spot where it was and had was not licking anything prior to going in. When they brought it up to me they took us to the in house vet to assure us it was not a big deal and they were clearly already aware of the situation, they cut my dog and lied about it and tried to cover their own selves. It was extremely unprofessional and if it had indeed been a hot spot they should have not shaved over it and made it worse or called for consent to even touch it. This is the Worst service ever for an animal, he is in so much pain and I recommend thinking twice before taking your dog to someone who will treat them with such lack of care and who will not take responsibility for their mistakes. read more

After taking the time to call an exterminator and get our house flea free I got a flea and tick shampoo option with the groomers. After all that i picked off five fleas from him in my truck before I even got back home. I called them to ask for a refund and all I got was being transferred three times to my groomer to tell me that its apart of the package, so a refund was out of the question and they don't really even clean the head. So any fleas that are on the head can reinfest the dog. This was a waste of my time and money and I will not be going back. read more

Maybe because of the fact that they are older reviews and the store has gone through better changes. If you are looking for a diagnoses of your pet beware. We took our 6 year dog in and they were unable to diagnose our dog. They totally missed it after going in twice and letting our dog sit in a cage for hours they could not tell she had congestive heart. Took her to another vet and in 30 mins she told us and explained they missed key signs in blood work. We had been faithful to Banfield for years but it has changed. Go to a regular vet not connected to a pet store. read more
