This review is for the Petsmart store. It's bright, spacious and with a big parking lot. This is one of the bigger Petsmart I've seen. Amazingly Customer Service & Quality Pet Care at the hotel//daycare!! The hotel staff is the best, and treat my baby as one of theirs. You can watch from the surveillance video to see how they are interacting and playing with the other pet friends. I always get a full report from the staff when picking up Tiger! I stopped by PetSmart in Mountain View just a few minutes before closing on Saturday night because I urgently needed a tick remover for my puppy. I had already called Petco, and they didn't carry the tool, so this was my last option. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by Tori, who immediately made the experience exceptional. Even though it was right before closing, she went above and beyond to help me quickly find exactly what I needed. She was knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely cared about helping both me and my puppy. Customer service like this is rare, especially at the end of a long day, and it really stood out. Terrible customer service. There were sale tags all over the shelf where I grabbed my cat food that clearly said "Buy 10, Get 2 Free." When I got to the register, the discount didn't apply. The supervisor didn't believe me and made me walk all the way back to the aisle to show him. I did -- and he STILL refused to honor the sale. He claimed the deal was only for the smaller cans, even though the shelf was covered with tags in front of the exact product I grabbed. It wasn't like there was one misplaced sign somewhere -- there were multiple labels across the entire row, making it completely reasonable to think the promotion applied to those cans. At that point I was so frustrated and upset that I just paid and left. I really wish I had taken pictures. Super disappointing experience and horrible way to treat customers. read more

PetSmart Hotel in MountainView CA is not good, nor is it a safe place for your dog. I just picked up my dog after two days, a few hours earlier than planned. I changed my flight to get back home quicker. They took him to the vet hospital because he had a huge hotspot during his stay. He'll be OK but when I picked him up and this is the second time he stayed there, he was dehydrated and panting, like crazy -- tongue hanging way out of his mouth; he jumped up and down when I took him home to get water but ran to the bathroom first before I got them inside, his new ecollar soaked in drool and sweat. I paid for extra play time extra attention extra treats, and they ignored him. A new little hotspot formed on day 2 and he started scratching, probably by late morning he had a gigantic gash under his chin which necessitated the need to take him to the vet hospital. $600 hospital bill and PetSmart wouldn't accommodate or take responsibility for any of it. I paid full price $150 a day for two days daycare at PetSmart and my dog was just sprinting to get out of that place. Despite my request for some accommodation, anything really, they gave nothing to accept any responsibility. At first originally on the phone when they told me about it, they said it might've happened at his grooming salon appointment (nail clipping), which actually they actually never facilitated. I went to PetSmart because I was looking for a hamster, but all of them were hiding inside their little houses, so I couldn't see a single one. I waited for quite a while, but none of them came out, so I called a staff member to ask if they could show me the hamsters. Normally, in this kind of situation, an employee would come over, unlock the enclosure, gently lift the house, and let customers see which hamsters are available. I understand that I can't touch them, but at least I should be able to look at them before deciding. It's common sense when you adopt an animal, you should see what it looks like first. But at this location, the staff member came and said they couldn't show me the hamsters unless I was going to buy one. I asked, "Then how am I supposed to know which hamster I'm buying?" and the staff just said, "You can look with your eyes," which made absolutely no sense. That's ridiculous. Even when I buy fruit, I can look at it and choose the one I want, but they expect me to buy a hamster first and only then be allowed to see it. What kind of logic is that? I ended up just leaving the store. It was frustrating and honestly not even worth arguing about. read more

HEAR ME out as someone in medical field relying on doggy care this is not the place for dogs who are active and love to play! Communication to book doggycare is absolutely awful at this location. I've been with petsmart for however long with no issues for both dogs, all of a sudden I was "optout" from txt msgs and emails blah blah blah somehow blame game always falls on a customer. Pretty common.. Girl on the phone got a pretty strong personality for a manager. She talks to you like you would hear someone talking like that on the street. No compassion or sense to what customer is trying to share AND when asking questions she ignores them and talks what isn't even being asked. She will try to talk over you. For first time booking, I was definitely not on ease not knowing how my dog is doing. Like dropping off baby to daycare, first day is never easy. New environment! Whoever you are booking through, should not mean anything for communication piece. If store and booking center works together. "We have other 40 dogs or more to care for it would be hard to give updates individually" Why do you have to make a statement on that? I never asked, I simply asked for a link to see my dog on the camera and his interaction. Every pet deserves equal love and care. So yeah her personality rubbed me off the wrong way, if I wasn't sick I would probably have a lot to say to her. You need a proper training how to handle calls. "I can't hear you, you are bumbling" During a pick up time I was told he had a rough day pretty nervous, sad and they couldn't complete the grooming because he was nervous and he attempted to bite, but he was let back with other dogs and did fine? Ok! I had this dog since 10 weeks old and never had this issue with no grooming service at petsmart, so to hear this, makes me think there is a lot more going than what I am being told. And maybe if you knew it was too much for him, you call the owners! Owners should be updated immediately. If you knew he was nervous for first time, what is being done to these dogs to make them feel at ease? Why are you offering different sessions with dogs and more interaction. I'm sure he was not the only dog ever being at the dog camp first timer and also why didn't you call me to pick him up if it was that bad of an experience for him! Instead of being there 8-4pm apparently miserable. You wouldn't let a baby cry all day at daycare without doing something about it, to make it a FUN experience for them!! Staff here seems to brush concerns despite that I did advise he was abused and it's his first time at the doggy camp. He goes to his groomer for 6 hours and has never received bad days or attempt to bite staff. Right after I picked him up and took him for a bath, nail trim with 0 ISSUE! Never have I heard, see his emotions get to this level. And i literally was telling everyone about this experience today and I was told "that's so not your dog" LOOKING AT THE CAMERA there is no interaction with these dogs! No toys like playroom should have to kill their boredom.. Not enough water bowls for that MANY DOGS. He was so thirsty after pick up, I could see on the camera no one ever points to the bowl for them to drink! How are you not going to have toys for the dogs but you as an employee also look bored. A playroom for dogs is a dedicated, safe indoor space filled with enrichment activities (toys, puzzles, agility items) to provide mental stimulation and physical exercise, preventing boredom and destructive behaviors, especially when owners can't supervise, offering fun for both solo play and interactive games, and can range from a simple corner with crates to an entire room with specialized flooring and climate control. How I see on the camera no one of these dogs got that! It's an empty room where you can see dogs bored! Don't try to tell me otherwise. My dog gets regular grooming. I well take care of my dogs needs and wouldn't bring him there to be traumatized for 8 hours! THEY didn't even return stuff we provided for him, such as supplements worth $60 with his food! I didn't know we had to ask for personal belongings to be returned during a pick up. He is a pretty active dog loves to swim, play and interact with our other dog at home! Environment and staff not showing interest to keep them busy is what bothered me. I HATE to admit but associates at this location working with these pets need proper training or you are in a wrong career if you can't handle dogs. Everyone I told so far about my experience today has mentioned to file a complaint. $34 is not worth to see my dog sad and miserable, let alone grooming! Booking grooming and playtime has nothing to do with how you should treat animals. It looks like to me you guys are understaffed and taking it out on the dogs! I brought my 5 lb Maltese here on August 9th for grooming. Normally, I go to another location, but since this one is closer, I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. From the start, I dealt with Fran, who was extremely unfriendly and repeatedly cut me off while I was asking about services. She mentioned that other groomers had written notes that my dog "wiggles" on the table--as if that isn't expected with a dog. Her tone and attitude were rude, and when I pointed it out, she ignored me completely. I left my dog despite feeling uneasy, but three hours later, when I called to check on him, I was told he'd be ready in 10 minutes. When I arrived, I was shocked to hear they hadn't been able to groom him "because he wiggles." So, after three hours, all they had done was bathe him, trim his backside, and charge me over $50. Nobody called to update me or explain. To make matters worse, a couple of days later I noticed they had shaved around his private area, and it was bleeding. Now I understand why he may have been "wiggling"--he was probably in pain. The only positive part of the visit was Christina, the store manager, who was professional and addressed my concerns respectfully. I appreciate her, but I will never be bringing my dog back to this location for grooming. read more

I booked a half-day daycare for my dog through your website so he wouldn't get bored at home on a rainy day. The booking was from 4 PM to 8 PM. Everything seemed fine until I arrived to drop off my dog. I saw a tiny room, and since there were no other dogs there, I asked the receptionist if there would be other dogs because I had booked group daycare so my dog could play with others. She told me that the main play area wasn't that room but another room in the back, which closes at 5 PM. After that, my dog would be placed in a tiny crate to wait until 8 PM! What is this? I bring my dog there so he can have fun, not to be locked in a crate. This was never mentioned during the booking process. I read through your entire website, and there's no mention of this anywhere. What if I hadn't asked the receptionist where my dog would be staying? Would I have found out only after coming back at 8 PM to see my dog locked in a tiny crate for three hours? Why isn't this information clearly provided at any point during the reservation process? Why does your system allow a reservation from 4 PM to 8 PM for a group activity when the group play area closes at 5 PM? This is unacceptable. I planned my entire day around this booking, and in the end, I didn't leave my dog there, of course. If he's going to be stuck in a tiny crate, he might as well wait at home. Additionally, I initially booked from 4 PM to 7 PM and later called your customer service to extend it to 8 PM. Not once was this mentioned to me. This is blatant negligence, laziness, and borderline fraud. Do you think I would willingly want my dog locked in a crate, left alone as if abandoned? How could this crucial detail only come up because I asked by chance, and why is it not disclosed during the booking process? If I had left my dog there and found him locked in a crate when I returned, I would have sued you. This level of carelessness and disregard is outrageous. When I told this to the receptionist, she said, "You didn't call us to ask." Why on earth would I need to call her? I made an online reservation; why isn't this information listed there? Now you'll probably send me some obscure link to a hidden "9-to-5" note buried in your website. Spare me. This is utterly unacceptable. read more

I've visited quite a few pet shops and PetSmart stores. This is definitely one of the better stores that I've frequented. The staff is always so professional, courteous and friendly. We've purchased exotic pets (like guinea pigs) as well as supplies for a Golden Greek tortoise as well as our aquarium needs. They have always been top notch. The selection is great (and they match competitors' online prices too). The store includes veterinary services (through Banfield) as well as grooming services (appointment and walk-ins), PetsHotel, as well as training and Doggie Day Camp. It really is a one-stop shop. We've used the grooming service for our puppy. Julie, Sally and the others are just amazing! They are patient and wonderfully caring for your pet. The provide a brilliant wealth of information too. Parking is great here. The store has a very large lot with plenty of spaces. The store is very convenient for our home in Palo Alto too. read more

Been brining my 33 pets to this PetsHotel for years without a problem. Then out of nowhere they accuse me of not paying a bill from a year ago which wasn't true as you can't pick up your pet without paying. I voiced my concern saying I have brought them here at 10 times since then and said it's impossible for that to be accurate. They don't provide any documentation just say I owe something that already paid for last year. She became very rude.....I will never go back there. Plenty of better places to take my pets. read more

I had an extremely concerning experience boarding my dog at PetsHotel Mountain View from Feb 2-5. What began as a routine boarding turned into a nightmare: 1. My dog was transferred from Mountain View to San Carlos location. Upon pickup at San Carlos, my dog was unable to walk normally and was crying in pain (behavior I'd never seen before). The staff member at pickup acknowledged seeing this condition. 3. After taking my dog to urgent care, the veterinarian indicated the injury could have been caused by an accident at the facility. PetSmart staff later mentioned that my dog had been standing on her back legs attempting to open a door while at the Mountain View PetsHotel - an incident that likely caused her injury. Most concerning is that no one at the facility notified me about this potentially dangerous behavior when it happened, nor did they monitor my dog afterward for signs of injury. 4. When I contacted the Mountain View PetsHotel Leader, Emily Hamilton, about this: - She refused to show any documentation or camera footage of my dog's stay - She showed no concern for my dog's health condition - She merely claimed "the dog was good at their facility" without providing any evidence - She took no responsibility for investigating what might have happened 5. They also lost my dog's bed during the transfer between facilities and refused to take responsibility or help return it. Most concerning is their complete lack of accountability and unwillingness to investigate a serious injury that occurred under their care. As a first-time customer, I trusted them with my pet's safety and they failed to: - Monitor my dog properly - Document incidents - Take responsibility when things went wrong - Show basic concern for an injured animal I strongly recommend pet owners consider other boarding options. A facility that won't even investigate when a pet is injured in their care doesn't deserve your business. read more

My cat has gone there many times..staff back in 2018 seemed more friendly, patient and knowledgeable. She received a progress report about how "sweet" and "friendly" she was. When I brought her there back in January, I offered to take my cat out of the cage..the staff person allowed me to do so..nothing was mentioned of any problems other than my shy cat was in the back of her cage. Fast forward four months later..apond arrival, I was informed the my cat and other cats would be left unattended for 7 or 8 hours, that was concerning but I was told that they were monitored with cameras, although no body was actually physically there in an emergency. What if something happened? The whole point of my cat being boarded is so someone could watch her overnight. She is accustomed to being around humans..I could have just left her unattended at home. I was given no progress report only informed that my cat was "agitated" I feel under the circumstance that any would be after being alone for hours in an unfamiliar place with other unfamiliar animals. When it was time to pick her up , a staff member informed me rather rudely that my cat would not be allowed to return because she was hissing and tried to swat at the staff member. I was there, why not let me get my cat to have avoided my senior cat being stressed out? Why not have another more patient, knowledgeable staff member assist or wait a few minutes until my cat calmed down. read more

Came here the other day with my husband to get some dog food for my mom's dog, they had it on sale and in stock which was nice. I was also able to grab a whimzees treat too, I really like that they just sell them out of the package so I can just get the one that I want instead of a whole pack. I noticed they already had Halloween stuff and some costumes up, I thought they were really cute. I can't wait to dress my cats up for Halloween, and yes I intend to be that pet parent lol The staff here is always very nice, and able to answer any questions we may have. It looks like they did take the glass doors off of the entryway to the pet hotel, I'm not sure if that's because of Covid or some other reason though. They do still have you wear masks, but it doesn't look like they really enforce the social distancing as much any more. The day-camp and boarding is absolutely phenomenal! From day one they have always treated my dog Nike like one of their own. He loves going here and always runs through the door to hurry up and get to day-camp with his friends. Every single person who works there has been nothing but great and you can tell Nike feels comfortable with all of them. It was hard to find a daycare with him being a Frenchie so I was relieved when they opened back up! Other places I could tell Nike would dread when we pulled up. But this has never been the case with coming here. They take their time to get to know your pup which is great. Nike even came home knowing a few new tricks! Bonus points for the doggie parties they throw. I think my dog parties more than I do at this point lol. Also I loveeeee the "pawgress reports" he gets after his stays. Grooming service overbooked and rescheduled my dog's haircut for two weeks later. However, when I arrived for the 9:30am new appointment I was told it was a wash only day. They refused to schedule again this week as there is no appointments available. Leaves me in a bad spot as we have a trip next week and I have to find a last minute dog groomer. Just beware when using this grooming service of the unprofessional tactics they employ to put you off and not have to actually make the appointments.
