Visited the not-so-lovely PetSmart location because I was running some errands around Naperville and Aurora area, so I figured I would make a return, which, per the policy that I see online as well as on the back of the receipt, can be made at any PetSmart location with a receipt, which I had. They could also confirm by looking up via phone number connected to the PetSmart membership. I was told by manager Amy Gunderman that I had to make the return back at the original purchase store....odd. I have returned exchange-purchased items at different locations in the past, as a matter of fact, within the last 2 weeks, so why would no other store not have this issue or problem... oh, got poor customer service. I took my Bichon to this groomers for a few years. At first things were good. He had a great cut, was happy. Then everything started going downhill. He started getting very anxious whenever I brought him to the groomers here. He whimper and cry. When I picked him up, he would be shaking, had nicks and cuts on his skin. They traumatized him because he would no longer let us brush his fur! Then they decided to refuse him. He was no longer allowed to be groomed at this Petsmart due to his aggressive behavior! I had an appointment to get my dog groomed. I have had gone to PetSmart for a long time. I walked in with my dog a few minutes before the appointment was supposed to start, to be told that the girl I had originally booked with, was not in, and the employee that was going to groom my dog instead had called in sick. My appointment was at 12:30. A person would think they would have called me to reschedule, instead of waiting till I walked in. This post is for Jenny. Who was the the first groomer to bathe either of black German Shepherds. Normally give them a bath every other week. So both of their first baths with her was at between 5-6 months. Now my girl Shepherd is sassy and the person at the vet could only trim two toes before Maple gave her a nip and they said they couldn't do it. Jenny NOT ONLY CUT HER NAILS BUT PAINTED THEM TOO! And maple was happy as could be when I picked her up. Mason has been to two groomers(like I said Jenny was the first) mason left VERY HAPPY. The second person who groomed him(not at PetSmart, at a vets office, like traumatized him, he came out upset and mad at me. I will not trust any groomer with my dogs besides Jenny. Refused to sell us $0.20 feeder fish whose soul purpise is to be fed to other bigger fish because our tank is too small and it would be unsafe for the fish. Nevermind the fact there were about 50 or more of these fish being kept in a tank smaller than ours. Way to go social justice warrior pet smart employee! Took photos of the state of the fish tanks, dead fish, bodies decayed because it was just so sad. An empty tank with just the head of a fish. The tanks were gross. I am an avid fish lover and was looking to buy fish for a new tank. No thank you, just terrible. Empty boxes for crickets all over the floor by the station at the fish tanks, no one around. The service was terrible, no one spoke to guests walking in. No one asked if I found everything ok. No one asked if I needed help. The petcare associate had carts blocking the aisle and I had to move it while he just stood there, he spoke no words no sorry let me move that or anything. I am so unimpressed with this location, the worst I've been to in the area. I prefer shopping at Two Bostons, the staff is friendly and the store is clean and the stuff I can't find there I will go elsewhere than this petsmart. The staff in pet hotel were chit chatty with each other and didn't say a word to any guest, associates chit chatting by Banfield. Just yikes, for all the services offered here it's just sad. Please do not take your dog for grooming to this location. I just attempted to bring my dog for the first grooming to this store and immediately regretted the decision and left (with my dog). The place was a total disaster, I mean a mess. Unsanitary. My first warning flag. Second, while holding my dog I slipped off the collar they had put on so I could quickly take off the body collar I had on and was yelled at by the customer care person trying to check us in. It was so rude and unnecessary that I was definitely done at that point. FYI I observed them dragging one dog by the collar and improperly carrying another. Both dogs looked in pain. I did tell the store manager before I left. She was just as rude and argumentative so that was unhelpful. Won't be back into that store. I will never take my dog to PetSmart ever again especially the one in Naperville on route 59 and 111th. We pick my dog up to discover a dog bite. Took her to the Vet which was confirmed. Talked to manager of the Pet hotel. She was very invasive and beating around the bush. So we ask her to review the tape and she said she would and get back to us. Two weeks passed she never reach out to us. So we called to set appointment for our dog to discover she documented her to be isolated from other dogs. She never informed us that this was done. My dog stayed there for 4 days no contact with other dogs and only 15 minutes intervals of of interaction by herself. I addressed this with the lady on staff. She said management was not there will be there in a couple days. We came back to be confronted with the store manager and a staff member. We felt violated and disrespected. The store manager was not receptive of our concerns. She had her manager run to the back as soon as we got there. This was very unacceptable. Dogs are in a small room together and see no outside. The management is unacceptable. Very bad experience! No PetSmart for us ever! The manager has no people skills and in my opinion is unqualified to lead on be in that position. Buyer Beware!!!! Before you take your dog to get groomed here, make an honest effort to find another groomer. They actually are rude and not helpful. They said our dog has knots in her hair and to take to the vet to get her hair trimmed. We ended up trimming at home with no problem getting the knots out. Over the years, I've taken many of my pets to the Pets hotel for boarding, both cats and dogs. I've never had any issues. I used to have two beagles that couldn't play with other dogs- because one was kind of dog aggressive and would nip at other dogs. I knew that, and didn't by doggy day camp. Recently, I took in my father in law's dog after he passed away. She was a rescue, and a mix for sure. In March when we attended his funeral, she was allowed to attend doggy day camp. Booked a weekend in July and she's no longer allowed to do doggy day camp, because she "has a boxy pit-bull face." Why not evaluate the dogs by their temperament, because this one has been around dogs and humans all her life (the more the merrier). Oh and I get charged more because she's not allowed to play with other dogs, not that I have a choice in group or individual. The more time goes by the angrier I am. I am cancelling the boarding and will not set foot in a Petsmart as long as they discriminate by breed rather then evaluating temperament. read more

Their petsmart fish department is not well educated on how much fish you should have in a tank. This prick/lady wouldn't let me have 2 goldfish in a 30 gallon tank. I have visited numerous websites and pet-stores saying that 20 gallon tanks can hold around 2-3 goldfish if cared for properly, which I do, changing the water once or twice a week. So this lady has the audacity to say, "oh no, you need at least 55 gallon tank for one of these guys as they grow big." And i'm just standing there looking at like 15-20 medium sized fish swimming in what looks like a 50 gallon tank. To add on, this crackhead says, "no one rarely buys these goldfish as they don't have a big enough tank, so they will be here a long time," Like wtf? The fish are probably way more stressed in such a cramped tank composed of like 20 fish, whereas in my tank, they would have much more space. My dog was too "aggressive" for the groomers, they grabbed her by the butt and stomach when we walked in and she was trying to bite them because she was grabbed unexpectedly by her stomach and she was trying to protect herself then she made us leave just because my dog almost bit her! We recently brought our boxer in to this pet hotel for Doggie Daycamp. When we came to pick her up we were told she had a great day. The employee who brought her out to us even reiterated her fun and told us her new friend's names. My husband took one look at our dog and said "What happened to her!!". She had bite marks all over her and was still bleeding from one of them. They replied very casually "O yea, she was attacked". I understand by taking my dog to a daycare to play with other dogs, there are times that accidents like this are going to happen. Here is however why I am upset: 1. We did not receive any sort of notification when our dog was attacked. My husband was home and only left her there to play because he assumed she was happy, safe, and having a great time. If we knew she was hurt, he would have come right away. 2. I believe the employees had a second chance to tell us what happened upon our arrival to pick her up. Instead of saying "we just want to let you know that your dog was attacked today before we bring her out and we have done the following to make sure she is ok...", we were just told what a great day she had. Her "pawgress" report even said "i had a great day and can't wait to come back". I truly believe they were hoping we just didn't notice our dog was hurt. Think again, this dog is our KID, hence we bring her to daycare. 3. My dog needed medical attention and this was not provided right away. Instead they ignored the fact that she was bleeding. My husband had her blood on his hands and shirt, meaning she was noticably bleeding!! 4. They explained that another dog attacked her and they got him off immediately. Her injuries tell a very different story. Either this dog was allowed to attack her for a long period of time or there were multiple dogs that came at her at once. My poor baby was attacked and undoubtably scared (she is usually very submissive meaning if someone were to attack her she probably layed on her back and cried) and no one cared to notice she was hurt or needed attention. The only thing that they did right was cover our medical bills. My dog has been to this location many many times. I have always felt they were average (the rooms are very small and the staff is not consistently the same) but kept bringing my dog here for my own convenience. This is the first incident like this, however it just takes one time for me to never bring her back. If a child daycare handled an incident like this, they would be shut down. They are extremely lucky this didn't end up as something more serious. Our dog was examined at the vet. They shaved her down and cleaned out her wounds. She bled from one of the wounds all night. She is on antibiotics, but should be ok. My advice is if you are going to use a daycare, use a place whose main purpose is that. Petsmart should stay in the business of selling dog food. Caring for animals is a whole different thing. I HIGHLY recommend Doggie Depot in Downers Grove. That is the only place our dog will be going from now on. read more

We took our puppy Millie to Petsmart for an overnight and playtime at the pet motel. Here are the details of her stay We took our dog Millie (a 9month old Westie) for a trial run at the Naperville Pet motel at Petsmart on 111th and 59. We wanted to possibly leave her there while on vacation but wanted to do a one night in order to see how she did while we were home. We dropped her off on a Saturday Morning and signed her up for a short play time with the day care dogs. We did not sign up for the whole day because we were not sure how she would do. The cost for one night was $35 and the playtime was an additional $8. We brought her own food and treats but I think they will feed them with their food if you want. Late that afternoon I got a phone call saying that first of all everything was ok.. but when they went to feed her they noticed something that did not look exactly like her food in the bag. I had bagged up her food and included her probiotic pill which is similar in color to her food and about the same size. I was impressed that they were able to notice this. Obviously they were not just dumping food in a bowl and giving it to her as they had to really look to notice that. It was explained that next time I needed to bring in the probiotic in its original container so they could dispense it as that is there policy. Since I had them on the phone I asked how her playtime went and the guy I was talking to told me that she had a great time and they let her stay longer in play time because she was having so much fun. I guess there were a few other Westies there that day and they were all having a ball playing. The next morning we picked her up around 11am. You have to pick up by noon so we got there a bit earlier. They took care of her bill and told me all about her stay. When they brought her out they had obviously brushed her and she had been freshened up with a spray of some sort. She looked like she had had a great time and did not act clingy or anything. They gave me a little write up with her like a report card with a note about how she did with eating, potty, playing and sleeping. She got all good marks. When we got home I checked her over to make sure she was ok after all her playing and there was not so much as a scratch on her. She sure was exhausted from her fun times at the Naperville Pet Hotel. My 2-yo Vizsla (Cyrus) loves going to their Doggy Day Camp (we go once per week). The staff is friendly, upbeat, interactive and affectionate with the animals. Most of them even know him by name! Day Camp is affordable (only $20 from 7 am to 7pm - and you occasionally get a $3 coupon). Whenever we mention 'CAMP', Cyrus' ears perk up and he gets excited to go and play with his friends. This review is being updated for Petsmart grooming services. For $25 (weekend price), my dog was bathed, brushed, had his ears cleaned, nails trimmed and hair cut. They did a great job, my dog is napping on the floor now, so this is beneficial to the dog's health and any peace and quiet you might need at home! They also sent him home with a report on how he behaved. We've only had him a week, so it was so helpful to hear how he interacted with other people and dogs without us around. We were told it would take 3-4 hours for them. I made an appointment that morning, and I didn't understand how grooming could possibly take that long. At first I looked forward to the time I'd have to run errands. But I'm a woman who enjoys hair and make-up, but even a day at the salon doesn't take that long! When I arrived to pick him up, I realized that there's a "holding" area for the dogs. I don't like the idea of my dog having sat in a cage, waiting to be groomed. I'd understand it if I were a walk-in that there would be a wait. For the $25 price, it's totally worth it. And my dog seems totally fine, even if he did have to wait in a cage for a little while. The employees were all really nice to my dog too. Maybe that's why I've been so turned off by the customer service - people work at Petsmart because they like PETS and aren't people persons? I've never been to PetSmart more then I have in the past couple months. I refused to get my kitten declawed, so I'm been going to PetSmart once a month for about 4 months to get Soft Claws or whatever they're called and to have them put on at the groomer's. No joke, every single time I call to make an appointment, they tell me that they don't put soft claws on cats. Every time, I tell them it was done last time and they look up my file and see that it was done before. By them. So today I call because my cat is starting to scratch out the couch.
