Originally we came to the store hoping to get my dog groomed. After learning that we needed to have her rabies vaccination paper with us (not previously mentioned when we had called) we browsed the store for a bit. My boyfriend had picked up a medium sized bag of dry food and a case of wet food for our dog while she and I looked at toys etc. We were making our way to the registers when an employee stopped us and grabbed the bag of food from my boyfriend saying there was a hole in it. We were apologetic and confused when he then started repeating "I'm asking you to leave the store." It was humiliating and completely unfounded. It's not like my boyfriend was trying to conceal a huge bag and case of food. So we left the store and went on to Petco where we spent $48 on food and made the appointment for our dog's grooming. read more

I have taken my dog here since she was a puppy, she is now 1 yr and 8 moths. Every time she had a new appointment it kept getting worse and worse, and I just kept giving the place chance after chance thinking that if I just selected a new groomer things will get better but no, on her last appt she got bad burns to the point she had a hard time peeing. Her front right paw was also hurting her and she now no longer lets me trim any of her nails. So I have decided to write and review to alert new customers to be careful when you bring your pet to this PetSmart, I would pay attention to your pets behavior after and before the appt and listen to your pet, don't make the same mistake I did and wait until your pet is hurt. Some signs my pet would show right at the entrance shivering, whining, fast breathing, fast heart beat After groomers, she would have bad anxiety, very sad and would not like to play or eat, almost looked depressed. I am now looking for a new groomer I can fully trust. I have attached a picture of one of the wounds on her groin. The groomer that did this was named Isabel, I don't mean any harm but I just don't want this to happen to someone else's pet and that's why after a long thought process I decided to write a review. read more

I bring my senior cat in for grooming (Lion Cut) because she's getting older & can't groom herself see she used to so she gets bad mats in her fur. They always do such a great job & I know she doesn't make it easy for them. She looks adorable with her little fur boots & Poofy face. I took my dog to get groomed for the first time. I had an appointment at 11AM. The communication was very poor with the staff there. 2 hours later, I came back to pick up my dog and he was still locked in the cage with a very loud vacuum going on in the background. The lady told me to come back in 1 hour, I told her that we are not going to be continuing this. She walked away without saying a word. The male working there apologized. The nails were already clipped but way to close to the nerve and was cut very pouring, still having sharp edges. I will not be coming back to this place. If you care for your dog, I would not recommend this place. It was more of a prison. read more

Don't bring your animals here to get groomed. We brought our cat to get groomed and mentioned we wanted a lion cut. They totally messed up and still charged us the full price. When we brought her home and inspected her more you could totally tell they did a horrible job. We called back and talked to the manager and they said they never got to finish her because she was not happy(which they never told us they didn't finish when we picked her up!). They refused to take her back to be finished or even give a discount. We payed FULL price for this horrible groom. Don't come here! Telling everyone I know to never come here. This has to be the worst place my dogs have been to. I spoke with the groomer on what I wanted but my 4lb 15 yr old Yorkie with no teeth (I rescued her that way) got just the opposite. No summer cuts and no lion cut around her face. It was September and we're not in California anymore. She ended up a mess! The groomer shaved all the hair off one of her back legs. On top of it all, she still smelled. My poor baby looked like she was in a fight and lost. My other dog is 22lbs 6yr old rescue. He came out looking like he had been a fight and lost too. I don't even think their nails were trimmed and filed which I paid extra for. I think they over booked cause were had to wait 30 minutes until someone could check us in and the whole time waiting a Bernese Mountain dog was screaming while getting a haircut. It gave me a headache and my poor dog were shaking in fear. I wish I would have left then. I left and ran errands but after 3 hours I got worried and went straight back to see what we going on. I groomer had left and didn't call me to come pick up my dogs. The next day I called and spoke to the manager and got my money back. The so-called groomer was not qualified and poorly trained. No one supervised her or checked her work. What a nightmare, I will never go back. I BET SHE IS STILL WORKING THERE TOO. read more

Nice store--plenty of variety, clean. But oh no....go to checkout-- where have all the cashiers gone? Usually one poor soul plodding away on the register trying to get through the backlog of customers. Generally while three to four other staff members walk past and glance at the registers.... "Gulp there are people lined up there, I'd better look the other way and walk past faster. please don't look over at me and ask me to cashier, please don't..... whew, made it through" Yes, nice enough place to shop but the checkout experience makes me want to well,check out.... read more

I've been coming here for several years, and I'm sad to say, that the new employees and people they're putting in "management" positions seem to lack "management" training or skills. If you have more than one pet, then I would think twice before coming here. The people they are employing here seem to really dislike their job, let alone having to do it. Each time i come in here to buy food for my pets I am gawked at, harassed, talked about, and feel uncomfortable due to the comments the employees make about the size of my purchases. Their employees "Brennan" and "Nate" seem to really dislike having to do their job if it means they can't run their mouth and make sly comments about my purchase size. Let alone make comments about their other employees to customers if said employee isn't doing their job "fast" enough. They make an uncomfortable environment to shop in for customers, and an uncomfortable environment for their employees that they talk poorly about. Talking to their other "management" seems to change nothing besides making them^^ more passive. I will be taking this to the corporate level next, I've had enough of the unnecessary comments and dialogue from these workers. Scan the food, bag the food, do your job you get PAID to do, and stop running your mouth about other people. Don't like it? Find another job. Because I won't be finding another store to shop at. read more

I have taken my pet here for a few years. I had always been happy with my groomer. Taylor seemed to do a good job but most importantly my dog liked her. I went to drop my dog off for an appointment and waited about 25 minutes in line to get to check-in. Taylor our groomer, wasn't there yet. I was early for my appointment but the 25-minute wait was challenging. Suda ( my dog) was shaking and letting me know she really didn't want me to leave her. Its always tough to separate as she sees me as her protector ( she is only 14 lbs) Finally, I get to check-in and the worker at the counter tells me I am early and she has a customer who is late and in line behind me that she wants to help first. She is completely oblivious to the fact that My dog is struggling with the potential separation. I say that I am next and I just want to check in on my pet, I explained that I have other personal appointments and cannot wait. she said to me yes you have an appointment, and it's not for another 30 minutes so you can wait. My response was to cancel that appointment then, I am not leaving my Suda with someone like you. The two items that puzzle me is that she could not work on the pet she was so rushed to check in anyway because she was the only person to check customers in, so what good would it have done to check in the guy who arrive 15 minutes after I did in first. She was so focused on catering to her client that she ruined a client for Taylor our groomer. Well, I hope she shared her tip with Taylor for costing her a long-standing client. with the disrespectful way she treated me I can only imagine how she treats the pets. I wasn't going to take that chance. I have been a six-year customer but no more would I shop or do business with this store or pet mart period. I recommend you find an owner-operator groomer and not Petsmart. at least they are invested in your pet care. Ron H read more

I scheduled online for a grooming for my small/mid sized thin flat coat dog, Jackson. He's a breeze to bathe, but really I hate getting every towel wet, sticky wet dog hair everywhere, house smelling like wet dog. Plus, a basic bathing there handles the anal glands, too. It was mid afternoon, and the online booking tool showed me appointments available later the same day! I made the first available appointment, and shortly after receiving confirmation via email, received a phone call from Alana who said she was actually free then if I would like to bring him in earlier. At drop off, I explained that being kinda high strung, he's sometimes wary of new people. She took her time to approach him sat on the floor with him, and just really loved on him. She was very good with reading doggie body language. She took him in back, and just over an hour later, she called to say he was ready. We picked up a happy, clean, dry, and sweet smelling pup. And for a nice modest price. Great job! read more

I have been coming here for years, especially once they became more price friendly! The employees are always pleasant and kind. My issue is with product stock. They are consistently running out of items and still don't see most replaced within a week or two. Unfortunately since my pets are picky eaters, I have been forced to order my products online. We took our pomeranian to the groomer. We had been going here for years, but lately it seems to have gone downhill. The 2 times previous to this trip we were assigned a new groomer who, despite being a nice person, did a poor job of cutting our dogs hair and didnt grind his nails as requested. The next time, we were given the same groomer. Same results. There's no reason to trim our dog when we get him home after paying $80 for grooming. This last (and I do mean last) time, we specifically requested a specific groomer who has been working here for many years and always comments on our dog when we bring him in. The girl who answered the phone and made our appointment was magically the one who ended up doing the grooming in spite of our specific request for a different groomer. The excuse was "that person must have been busy and must have moved your dog to a different person". I feel the truth is the person who scheduled the appointment needed to do more dogs to make a little more money or to stack her numbers. Either way, when spending $70 or more and having been regular customers for years we should get who we request. Needless to say, we wont be going back, and I cant recommend this grooming service in good faith any longer. I also noticed that the majority of favorable reviews are a few years old. Maybe someone needs to wake up management. read more

Like all Petsmart locations, this place is VERY animal friendly (everyone brings their dog). The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. They offer a wide variety of supplies--so its easy to find what you're looking for at a price you're willing to pay. What sets this place apart from other pet supply stores is the that fact that they are SO pet-friendly and that they are paired with a local non-profit adoption center (Friends of Felines) and you can adopt cats on-location. read more

Take my dog in ever few mouth for a nail cutting and a bath. Ever once and a while I will have her hair cut. When they are don't with her she looks wonderful. They do such a great job with my dog. The price is really good compared to other groomers. read more

Stopped in today to buy a few fish for our freshwater aquarium ... virtually every tank in the store had dead fish. If that was not bad enough, I was unable to find any truly knowledgeable staff. This will be the last time I look for fish at this store. read more

Don't bother asking anyone questions hear. Both staff members I talked to seemed like it was the hardest thing in the world to answer questions about food. Just moved here and will gladly be giving up on PetSmart after years of great service and help from the location in my last town. Such a let down. But time to support local!! read more

This review is for the grooming department. We dropped our Doberman , off to be groomed on a moments notice. We were really please at the price for a large dog, $26.00. GREAT deal. Normally larger dogs are much, much more. We received a phone call when he was ready to be picked up and let them know we would be a little bit as it was quicker than we thought and were out running errands. When we arrived the staff was petting Rosco and being so nice to him. We could tell they genuinely loved him. I think we have found our new groomers. read more

We were very impressed at how helpful they were. We called to get our cat in with urinary track problems. They were totally booked up but took the time to call Eugene to try and get him in. They were also booked. We are in Newport and everyone here was booked also. They finally said to bring him in and they would get him checked. They were kind, sympathetic, helpful and all around wonderful to work with. After several hours of doing tests, the vet came to talk to us. She was thorough and answered every question, many before we asked. Today he's on meds and already doing better. We would recommend them to anyone and were very happy with the service. Not a huge fan, but it's a place to buy pet stuff. They are a little pricey. especially when it comes to food. I would rather go to Walmart for the same bag of food and about five dollars cheaper. They do have a variety of equipment and leashes. Basically all pet stores are expensive, which sucks cause I like to buy my pets things. Overall, this is a good PetSmart. They had a much better selection than other pet stores in Salem. I went there at 9:30 this morning, and received immediate and top service. I went to buy fish and ended up with a couple of extra things because variety is so hard to find in Salem. The fish tanks were ALL amazingly clean. As the gal was getting my fish, she found one little one that just wasn't right, so she pulled it into an insolation bucket right away for observation. My only complaint is PetSmart in general is notorious for having snails in their tanks, which are a nightmare if you get them in a home tank. Fortunately, these tanks weren't crowded in snails so it was easy to avoid catching one. read more

Overall, a decent pet store. Nice and open layout. Prices are high, but selection is good. Nice cat adoption viewing area. Usually more than 1 cashier available when checking out, which is nice. Location is a bit scary, being next to scarier Walmart. But overall, worth the trip! read more

Staffs nice enough, but I will never buy fish from them again. On two separate occasions, I have bought diseased fish from them. I'm not sure who their breeder is, but the fish are chalk full of Ich and who knows what else. I partially blame myself for not quarantining the fish for longer, but it's simply unacceptable. Hey Petsmart, if you have a batch of fish which are dying off by the dozens DON'T SELL THEM UNTIL TREATED! I have been coming here for years and spent thousands at this location.
