This review is specifically for PetsHotel. We had gotten quite a few quotes for boarding our 2 Boston Terriers at places all around South Bay. PetsHotel as the least expensive and we stored it in the back of our mind as a back up kennel, (incorrectly) assuming the more expensive kennels provided better care since they cost more. For a couple years we boarded and took to doggy day care at a super fancy place farther away near work that was almost twice the cost of PetsHotel. We were happy with them, but there came a time when we needed to board last minute, so we tried out PetsHotel! First time boarding here was unremarkable. We picked up the pups and they seemed happy and clean but that's to be expected, right? Over 6 months later we needed to bring them here again and to my surprise the manger remembered my male dog as soon s he walked in!: "Oh, this is the one who SNORES!" This tells me a few things: 1. She's been here for that long. I know it's hard with "entry level" or retail jobs, but I hate when there's a bunch of turn over because you never know why it's happening, so I love when I see familiar faces because you know there must be a good reason they stay. 2. There is staff at the kennel over night. 3. She cared enough to remember my little dog! We were pretty much sold on PetsHotel from that moment on. They offer discounts if you room your pets together and if you groom on the last day you're there, and are super accommodating with all the weird nuances of your pets personality. For example, I knew my older dog hated doggy day camp, but we decided to try it with a group and if it didn't work they would do semi private just the two of them and if that didn't work they would just all him out and do walks. Also, last week - days before leaving for a week long trip for Thanksgiving - my older dog injured his back last minute and PetsHotel understandably couldn't take him, but they gave me recommendations for vet kennels in the area and it saved me a bunch of time and stress trying to figure out a solution at the last minute. So, moral of the story is don't knock it til you try it. They treat our pets better than any other kennel we've been to and I would highly recommend PetsHotel! read more

*This review go towards the pet hotel* Never have I used Petsmart boarding/daycare, thought I would give this a try. Since my dog isn't neutered, the reception desk told me he would be in his own 4x4 area with 30 min play time with an employee. And wouldn't be able to play with the other dogs. ( please note his stay was for 1 night) Worried and stressed that leaving him here would be a mistake, well it sure was. Days later he developed kennel cough, although he was vaccinated. I know this is a common thing, but because I've boarded him at his "usual" place which is Pets Hotel (they were fully booked, why i chose petsmart) located in Sunnyvale- he has never EVER developed anything. I had booked an appointment since almost two months ago for my two puppies grooming. They somehow forgot to schedule one of them, ok any thing you can do to fix your own mistake??? Yes, give me attitude and refuse to do anything. On that point I was like ok lets just groom the one you scheduled. While the process they asked for the rabies vaccine card. I provided it, Crystal, the manager rolled her eyes and asked for something that state the exact expiration date. I have been going to this store for four years now, and I had never heard such a thing like this. The puppy is only 6 months old ,she could see it in the card ( needless to say rabies is good for one year) but she still refused to accept it, and did not even give me 10 minutes to ask my husband to bring the card that she wanted from home, and my surprise canceled the whole appointment. MS Crystal remember, you get your paychecks coming from customers like me, whats up with all of that eye rolling, attitude and disrespect which you gave me? To the store manager, do you even interview your employee to know if they know what customer service is? Is disrespecting the customer is part of your store business???? This one start is mainly because of Reanna. (From grooming) We have been here many times for my dog and she had always been getting the right haircut but last time she got it "not as good as it should be". When I came in this morning for new haircut for her, I was "greet" by Reanna and when I tried to explain the last "not good hair cut" picture she didnt even let me finish and start saying well we should do this and that, and I have to tell her" can you let me finish explaining and look at the pictures? She keeps giving me attitud insead of saying at least I am sorry. Maybe this or maybe that. She acted like she didnt care or if it wasnt their fault and it was mine. Grooming services only: I've come here for 45 years to get my cocker spaniel groomed. All has been god or decent until the last month. I e had two appts cancelled at the very last minute via email with no apologies or accommodations to get her in prioritizing her for the cancellation. I finally spoke to Amber a Mgr there who apologized and was able to get me an appt within a 5 day window after the 2nd cancellation. However she said she'd give a "significant discount" for my troubles. She transferred me to the salon and never called me back to follow up on the discount. I called the day of the appt to ask and she was not available so the MGR on duty ca e a 20% discount which equates to $11. I explained that was not at all a significant t discount and cancelled and rebooked with the closer, more convenient Petco. I feel that after 5 years of loyalty and patience a minimum 30% discount and priority booking is not too much to expect. read more

I would give this location ZERO stars if I could! My husband and I relocated from the East Bay and are extremely familiar with the Doggie Day Camp process. (We have been taking our pup to Day Camp for 8 months consistently because it gives me time to run errands and he LOVES to play!) But sadly, this location has the WORST customer service skills I've ever experienced! I called in the morning to see if I could drop my dog off for about two hours for Day Camp. I was told by Amanda that they were full. Sure, not a problem I get that they can be busy. So my friend and I did our errands and decided to check out this location since it was new to me. We went in the back, and 3 people saw us, and NO ONE greeted us! They were extremely rude and just looked at us and turned away. Then I saw that they only had one room open and there were about 6 dogs (both large and small) for day camp. So I was quickly confused why I was told they were full. I asked to speak to Amanda and no one was really helpful. I told the person there what happened and she could tell I was upset and ended up rolling her eyes at me. Seriously, she rolled her eyes! Then one of the managers (whose name isn't on their name tag, just says "manager") walked up to the cash register. Didn't acknowledge me. Didn't ask if I needed help. NOTHING. So I asked him if he was the manager and he said, "Yes I am one of them." So I preceded to let him know what happened and he didn't bother to help me! He just said he would get Amanda when she was available! NO HELP WHAT SO EVER! What kind of manager are you? USELESS! Didn't ask to help the situation or explain to me the reasoning. Amanda FINALLY walks back to the Day Camp and explains to me that after lunch they would be full... I called around 9:30am and wanted to bring him in from 10-12... Well they weren't full at the time, but they would be full after lunch. They could've taken him when I asked, but they didn't! Her explanation made ZERO sense, and I have officially lost ALL respect for this location. It just goes to show you customer service is dying! Thank goodness the Dublin location is AMAZING! Wish we didn't live so far away from there now :( Bottom line, I will NEVER take my sweet boy here. They do not deserve any service. Take your dog elsewhere! read more

All 3 stars have to do with the services they provide and their customer service. First, they have all kinds of puppy/dog training classes for dogs of all ages. They are actually priced pretty nicely for the amount of classes that you get. The teacher, for the class, is really nice and knows what she is doing when it comes to training the dogs. (It's amazing how they listen to whatever she has to say immediately! Haha) When asking questions, to the staff, they have always been helpful and usually have a nice smile while talking to them. They lost 2 stars because of their prices. Their items (With the exception of 'Clearance Items') are quite high. With as many pet shops, that are in the area, you would think it would be a little easier on the good ole pocket book. Finally, a Petsmart with Banfield and Petshotel close to home in South SJ, but right off the bat, I need to dock 1 star for the crappy parking situation from being in a Costco plaza across from a Red Lobster where people will park far and wide for their delicious cheddar biscuits. As to the actual Petsmart store itself, it's been great thus far, and moreso after I tried out the Petshotel Doggie Day Camp for my 1 year-old Schnauzer/Jack Russell little buddy. I was worried to death leaving him with strangers for the first time, but the first 15 minutes of watching him interact with the other dogs in the Day Camp, they were quick to make sure things didn't get out of order, especially with my buddy who tends to get chippy with dogs he gets fixated on by drawing his attention away. Seven hours later, I picked up my exhausted little buddy who by the looks of him still being tired a day later, had an awesome time. I'm looking forward to boarding him later this summer with this Petshotel. read more

They called me to raise the price because he was biting them. Well maybe that's because he has burn marks from the clippers in three different places. The following review is for this location's grooming salon, and does not reflect anything else in the store. I brought my two poms to be groomed here, the younger of which had never been clipped before, and I mentioned this several times to the groomer. I also said she gets squirmy & nervous, and was told it wouldn't be a problem. This was my second grooming experience at this location; the first went ok, but it wasn't as impressive as some other locations. After detailing exactly which cuts I want & specifying length while in store, they still managed to get confused & had to call me while I was driving home. (Silly me, I thought a lion cut was pretty standard, no?) Upon picking up my pooches, the lion cut looks good, but the "teddy bear" clip was a hack job. Too short, and several sensitive areas were nicked with the clippers. My dog, the squirmy nervous one, refused to evacuate her bowels for three days following the appointment. Her belly also had a rash, which I suspect was from letting the clippers overheat & still trying to clip her. (I have horses and clip them; when I'm not pregnant I also groom my own dogs) They also had the nerve to suggest they need more daily brushing in their little feedback booklets they now insist on handing out. I'm scheduled to give birth next week; do you really think I'm about to get down on the floor and spend an hour making them look fantastic?! If you are going to nag me, please make it constructive. I was coming to this location for convenience with hopes in finding a new groomer for my cockerspaniel, Delilah. I came here once to get her groomed and was not satisfied because her hair was crooked, choppy and parts not cut. I spoke with one of the managers named Vic and he gave me a refund and told me that he would like me to continue taking my dogs there. Last Sunday, I decided to take Delilah back to get her hair cut. My husband and I decided to drop her off together to make sure we speak with the groomer personally and to make sure that the groomer would understand what we would like done. When we arrived at our appointment, Danielle (receptionist) said that Reyna was not in yet. We decided to wait for her to make sure we would be able to show her pictures of what we would like our dog to look like, have her show us Delilah's mats that would need to be shaved off and tell us what she will have done to our dog. When we picked up Delilah, all of her hair was shaved off except for her ear. I was so upset that I waited a couple of days to call the manager. Finally, I decided to call and explain to them how unhappy I was with her haircut. A manager answered and I explained the situation to him and he transfered me to the salon. Reyna answered and was like, "I heard you have a problem and we need to get this straight." I explained to her how I felt about the cut she gave my dog and she just argued with me about how I told her to shave off all of my dog's hair and that I should find a new groomer. Reyna had poor customer service skills AND she's the salon manager. Please do not put you and your pup through this mess. I am now waiting for Delilah's hair to grow out and definitely looking for a more professional and knowledgeable grooming salon to work with my dogs in the future. I received a call from the Operation Manager, Vic (a different guy from the store manager) and I don't even know why he called. Have been taking both my dogs to the groomers here for years. Never really had a problem, but the last two times I took them in, they came back with INJURIES. The first time was just a bath and they came back with cuts under their arms. The last time they went in for a full grooming, they came back with NICKS UNDER THEIR ARMS, and REALLY BAD CUTS on their private parts and belly!!! They offered a refund, but did not acknowledge the injuries sustained by their negligent practice. They just simply told us we can get a refund if we didn't like the haircut. Ummm..I don't like the fact that my dogs came back cut up and bloody! I could care less if the haircut was "ugly." I emailed Corporate to ask that they either train up or don't allow the person who cut up my dogs to continue working in the grooming area, but I didn't even get a response. So since they do not care to take any action, I'm going to have to call out Deborah Besser and warn everyone to stay away from her and PetSmart for dog grooming services. Beware!!! So the mans parent came into town to help with the big move and butt head had to go into the puppy hotel. I havn't had to deal with many diff pet smarts as usually my puppies go out to a ranch hotel. The store was clean, the staff was courteous, and the best thing was butthead didn't whine all too much. The girl behind the counter seemed to know what she was doing and was knowledgable about beagels and their flight habits. She was also prepared with treats to entice butthead back into his suite. The dogs were not kept in cages but instead kept in glass fronted "suites" which I loved. It was reported that butthead had a good time at the ouppy hotel and there were no additional fees added to his stay. Overall puppy was happy, parents were happy, and we would reccomend this puppy hotel for mid sized and small dogs. read more

Well I've been coming to just this one for my morkie aka Maltese/Yorkshire mix's Grooming needs and let me tell you I am satisfied every time! I work a lot so it's hard to find sometime to take my precious baby to get groomed. She was mostly in crazy nats and tangled fur. The services done were the usual haircut which comes with a shampoo nail trimming ear cleaning and detailed brushing . Everytime I picked her up she looks happy and smells super nice! I never had any issues and my girl was properly taken care of. Also I notice that this one is more clean and sanitized then other petsmart grooming places I enjoy taking my fur baby here and I will continue doing just that. This place is awesome ! read more

I asked for a paper receipt and the supervisor said they couldn't give me one but it would be e-mailed -- a day later, it hasn't arrived and I doubt that it will. I am writing this review solely to praise Rachel, one of the managers at this location. I called this morning to ask about Hill's Prescription Diet i/d, the Gastrointestinal one. Usually when you buy the prescription ones, you need a prescription slip. We have one for the t/d (Dental one) but this morning my dog was throwing up a lot. We usually buy the i/d at our vet clinic, but it is kind of far and my mom didn't want to drive out there and leave our dog alone at home. This location is right in front of our house and Rachel was very kind enough to provide us with the i/d cans although I did not have the prescription slip for this specific one. This review is for the pets hotel. The store and banfield themselves have been good to us till this day. I left my dog at full day of day camp, when I picked him up he seemed afraid and in a hurry to run outside. We didnt make it outside the store when he popped a squat to poop. No biggie I suppose, once we stepped outside the store he took the biggest pee, I know my dog. This pee was him holding for at least 8 hours. He filled a big puddle of pee in the middle of the street, he then whimpered and ran to the nearest grass area and pooped again. I did my research and found out that pets hotel does not even take your dog out to pee. They bring them to a hall, indoors and expect them to relieve themselves. What nonsense is that? My dog is house trained to not defecate indoors, and even if he wasnt why would you expect all dogs to relieve themselves indoors?? You have employees take them out, even for a brief minute. Took my puppy in to its 'pet hotel.' I was very nervous about leaving my puppy in daycare as it would be her first time away from her home for an extended period of time. When I checked in with an associate, my presence there was barely acknowledged and she actually seemed annoyed that she had to help us. No hello. No how are you? No nothing. Just a series of rapid fire questions asked of me, all the while failing to maintain ANY level of eye contact. No assurances that my puppy would be ok, nor any information about what I should expect. In fact, she didn't even bother finishing up the paperwork before she left for the back room as I was asked by a different associate later in the day that I had not signed a document they needed for their file. The whole process left me feeling extremely uneasy and definitely not happy. What was probably worse than the pet hotel associate was when I called the store and spoke to the store manager, Josh. This guy was unbelievable. Could not have cared less about what had happened. Appeared to be taking some notes and dismissively said he would talk to the associate. Then, as an afterthought, mumbled 'sorry' about the associate just before hanging up! Another lost business PetSmart! WARNING: NEGLIGENT PET HOTEL!!! We have used this pet hotel a couple times but NEVER AGAIN. They DO NOT keep your animals hydrated, Playing with larger Dogs is out of the question( walk by the play area with large dogs, they are asleep with a worker just sitting there on there phone) and they DO NOT take them out to the bathroom enough!! We always have food and water out for our dog so she never goes without, Here as soon as we get her outside she always has to pee, Bad! And she is extremely thirsty. They tried to claim it was because she was played with and yet she was extremely hyper when we got her. This place is bad and we are going to do what we can to have them reported. read more

Came by PetSmart to get some new puppy supplies but there were so many options that I guess we looked a bit confused. Christina saw us and asked if we needed help then gave us some great recommendations on dog food and the layout of the store by brands. She helped us again at check out and recommended the PetSmart puppy package book with coupons that helped us save a lot of money and even did a price check with their website. I just called to ask if they sell a certain type on animal. I select the reptile/small animal department on the phone tree. It rings twice and someone picks up the phone, waits like 5 seconds, then hangs it up. Really? So I call back and just hit 0. I ask to speak to the manager and the guy says he is the manager (of coarse). I tell him what happened, and he says "I can see both of them right now. There is no possible way it was intentional." Right, because people often answer phones and then hang them up unintentionally after 5 seconds. I said, "Okay, I will call back right now, and you can see if they do it again." So I call the reptile department again, and THE SAME GUY ANSWERS!!! So was it unintentional, or did you just pick up the phone and hang it up and now are trying to cover your own behind? Whatever Petsmart. No one has time for stupid games. Steer clear of this store unless you want to deal with people who are unprofessional, and childish. Horrible customer service. read more
