So I write this review specifically for "Monica" she groomed my Chorkie "Teddy" yesterday & she was at the location in Milpitas, but was told she was just filling in that day and she usually works at the one on coleman. Monica did a wonderful job not only that, my pups came out looking happy. They did everything we asked with no problems. It did take 3 hours witch was no problem because I have 2 dogs. 2.5 stars - 1 star for grooming services and 4 stars for the store I've gotten my maltese poodle groomed here a few times and can say that sometimes they do a good job and other times she just looks ridiculous. I really dislike that even though I make a scheduled appointment for her, they keep her in a kennel until they can get around to her. I'd rather just keep her with me and walk around the store than have her stressed out in a kennel with other barking dogs! I'm one of those paranoid parents who stays during the *entire* three hour grooming session to keep an eye on my pooch and to see how they're treating the other dogs who are getting groomed. Some of the groomers are better than others - it's important to find one that you like and then schedule your appointments with them. (I've had awful groomers who take more than 3 hours, can't seem to figure out how to put a bow in her ears, and spray disgusting smelling perfume on her). My dog is always stressed out after leaving PetSmart and I've decided to have her independently groomed than to put here through the agony of PetSmart grooming even though it's much cheaper ($50). I've also made purchases at this PetSmart and have been satisfied. Juan helped me pick out the perfect rawhide for Sophie (a pigs ear, who would've guessed?) and she loves 'em. Bottom line, I'll be coming back to PetSmart for my pet supplies but won't be returning for the grooming services here. read more

I got my first puppy today and I immediately went to PetSmart to buy him a couple things especially a toy since he flew from Ohio to California. He wasn't willing to walk so I carried him out every where. He's a a cute Pomsky which took a lot of people's attention as we shopped around. I took him to get his first toy. It wasn't easy finding the right one. I had to put a bunch of toys in a pile and I let him pick one. The sales associates were nice. As I checked out, one of the employees gave my puppy a treat and played with him as I checked out and signed up for a rewards card since I'll be going there more often now! My little chi stayed at the key hotel for 2. Ugh Tun August, and she came home with a nasty Nasty cough. Had to take her to the vet and get her medicated. Them, in September I left her for 4 night, she came home with a nasty cough again after being treated for it a month before. Vet recommended me to avoid This pet hotel. I mean, my pup had all he vaccines, and even the dog influenza vaccine... yet, she's getting g sick! Seems like petsmart is not doing a good job cleaning after the pups. I have no complaints about this place. It's a coo spot. I was surprised cuz they have a lot more stuff than the other petco's n Petsmart's that I usually go to. Here they have doggy day care, grooming, training, Banfield and even a pet adoption area. The doggy day care spot looked like a nice place to leave your dog. All the dogs there looked really friendly. There was a worker there who was playing with all of them. They seemed to really like him. If I had a dog and wanted him to socialize during the day while I was at work I would bring him here. read more

This place has friendly service most of the time, but not this time! I am still in consideration if I should come back here ever again! I got a 49ers Jersey as a gift for my one of my pups. But it was too small so I wanted to exchange it, but I didn't have a receipt. I mean, it's just an even swap, which most stores would do. I came here a few times before to try to do an even exchange, but they would never have the size that I was looking for. Even the one located on Curtner, so I waited. Every time I came though, I walked up to the cashier and explain to them what happened. I told them that I need to make an exchange for this jersey. I got it as a gift and I don't have a receipt and every time, they would tell me, "Yeah, go right on ahead..." I would ask if they wanted me to leave the jersey with them and they would tell me no. So friendly at the time, but unfortunately I encountered the most unpleasant employee ever at Petsmart. This time, I went in to check to see if they had it. Since they did, I asked the person I was with to go and grab it from the car as I am waiting in line. There were a few people ahead and so finally when it was our turn, the cashier (ANNA) is super rude and unfriendly. She basically gave me the "I don't care if you are the customer, you are in the wrong here" kind of attitude. She asked for the receipt, and I said, I didn't have one. She said, "Ok next time, you leave it at the front. You don't take it with you." So since she was so rude, i brought up the fact that I came here before and one of the employees said it was fine, just take it with me. So she had the audacity to say "That's when you have a receipt," with the most attitude ever. So i said, "Um no, actually, i came and told them my situation and that I DID NOT have a receipt and they told me to go right on ahead..." Then she said, "Well I don't know who that is, but that's not the policy here so next time, leave it here." HOW RUDE IS THAT!? The price wasn't scanning and she called for the manager. He is super nice and friendly and helped me every time i needed something (Plus one star for that!). He just told her, "whats the big deal? do an even swap" So we got that done. I'm grateful that we found someone in our neighborhood to exchange dog-sitting duties with, because I really don't think they took very good care of my dog at Petsmart. The first time we boarded him, we were going to be out of the country for a week with no way of calling to check in on him. We requested that he receive an hour of playtime every day, and a treat every other day. When I picked him up, the bill seemed awful cheap considering those "extras" we had ordered. It turned out that the staff had completely ignored our instructions, and gave him ONE treat and ONE hour of playtime the entire week. They basically left our dog in a cage the whole time. The manger refused to speak with us, and their only concession for their screwup and complete disregard for our instructions was to offer us a free "Bizzy Bundle" for our dog's troubles. This is what, a $7 service?!? We boarded our dog a second time out of desperation (every other kennel in the city was booked) and our poor dog was a pooping machine for 3 days afterwards. I don't think they had bothered to walk him once the whole time. My dog was freaking out and shrieking when I arrived to pick him up. Obviously he couldn't wait to get the hell out of there and go home. What did the staff do? They grabbed him and tried to give him hugs and kisses (claiming they had to "check him out" one last time) while he desperately tried to break free and run over to me. It was clear to anyone with half a brain that my dog was thinking, "F**k you, I'm outta here! You really have no idea what they're doing with your pet when you leave. And if your dog does nothing but poop constantly after he's stayed there a few days, obviously he wasn't given the opportunity to take care of business while he was there. Their refusal to follow even the most basic instructions should be a big red flag. I'm just grateful that my dog didn't require a special diet or medication - I can only imagine what they might (or might not!) have done. read more

I'm quite impressed with what looks to be petsmart's newest batch of hired groomers. While my dog is very low maintenance when it comes to grooming, it's still nice to have a good groomer who cares about making your pet feel special. Christopher A. was awesome today. He even included a little detailed pawgress report (something I've gotten seldom in the past) and commented on her good behavior on my way out. I wish I had cash on me so I could have tipped him! Chris was very friendly and immediately tended to my dog. Petsmart really needs to fix their online booking system, since Chris didn't have my dog in his books when I came in this morning (even though I booked an appt online prior to coming in). Nonetheless I'm super grateful he squeezed my dog, Tea in this morning. It was Tea's last bath as a San Jose resident since we are moving today. They charged me an extra $20 without telling me because one of their groomers was too lazy to hold my maltipoo to give her a bath and cut her hair. Originally my boyfriend was also going to put his dog here but we decided to take her (my bf's dog) with us last minute. This pets boarding facility placed my parents dogs under my bf's name. When they called to confirm, we asked them to change the error. When we checked our dogs in we asked them AGAIN to change their contact on record. However, they never did! 2 nights in, someone send our 13 year old golden retriever to the vet without our knowledge. They thought our dog had issues, but he was perfectly normal. They tried calling my boyfriend because their system was STILL incorrect. When we found out through him (since he was overseas there was a delay.) it was too late. Our 4 night pet hotel bill turned into a $1000 vet bill for the overnight stay. That is absolutely ridiculous. When we told them the dog is perfectly fine they didn't even try to pick him back up from the vet. If you want to pay thousands of dollars for your doggie's vacation, take them to petshotel! read more

This place is really discrimating dogs. One time my dog got in a fight with another dog and I need to pay like $100+ for the incident. When asked about the video footage of the accident, they dont want to show you what happened to the dog. They blamed the dog for getting into the fight. Whereas the only person who can stopped the fight simply blamed it happened so fast and couldn't react. This is really wrong. They simply take so many dogs and one person cant watch out for all the dogs. After this incident they banned my dogs. This review is for the PetHotel on Coleman! I was very apprehensive on where to take my 5 month old GSD for her first "sleep over" while I had to attend a funeral in Santa Cruz. I say apprehensive because we have been raising her since she was 8 weeks old and don't want anyone to mistreat her or give her a negative experience while she is away from our care (we are trying to raise a super social/friendly/well-rounded GSD). Anyways, after much debate (and cost comparison), I decided on the PetHotel. It was $33/night for a normal "room" which includes the overnight stay, their food (including a grain-free option), and two walks (on in the AM and one in the PM). I opted to have her in the Doggie Day Care all day the first day as well (it would have been $19 since we were also spending the night but I had a coupon for an entire FREE day). I dropped her off at 8AM and called around dinner time and right before bedtime just to check up on her..they were super sweet on letting me know how she was doing and how she did in daycare with the other pups. I picked her up right before the deadline (which is 12PM) and she was very happy to see me! She licked the staff member goodbye and we were outta there! I went to this location to purchase something I saw online. The price was $24.99. After doing some quick comparison shopping on my phone, I discovered the item I wanted was on sale at Petco.com. I brought the item to the register to ask if PetSmart would do price matching. While they would do it, they would NOT match the online price at PetCo, only in-store price. No way would I go to PetCo to check and come back to PetSmart. Normally, for a dollar or two, I wouldn't make the effort to go to another store, but this was more a huge cost savings. I left PetSmart and drove to PetCo. The price in-store at Petco was the same as PetSmart, but PetCo would match their own online price. Lesson learned here -- skip PetSmart completely and start at PetCo first. While it did take effort on my part to look up the product price online, I got the item for $11.99. This is a review not of the whole store but of the PetsHotel, which is beyond substandard for animals--it's unhealthy. Your dog WILL get kennel cough after going here, even if your dog has had the preventive medication PetsHotel theortetically requires. Your dog will NOT be walked, as it states in the brochure. It will be taken to the small inside play area and forced to urinate and defecate on the floor. Someone will not necessarily clean it up afterwards, so your dog will likely be trotting through some other dog's waste. I have seen this in person and am not making it up. Your stay WILL cost a lot more than you expected, due to the way PetsHotel calculates time. They will find a way to charge you for more days than you actually stay. You WILL go bonkers dealing with staff who obviously doesn't care much about dogs. It's obvious in the way they treat them even though you're standing right there (your dog will behave nervously around these people--take it as an indication of something not being right). I am reporting them to the district attorney who probably won't change anything about the way these cretins operate, but now you know to go somewhere else. We're never going back! read more

We've been bringing Bella here ever since she could leave the house. Our Puppy Class and Intermediate Class Trainer, Juan, was great. Extremely patient and you can tell that he loves animals. It was great that our class sizes were small and that Bella got to know a few other pups pretty well. Juan also recommends quality products without feeling the need to endorse PetsMart products. As for the other services, we did use the PetsHotel one time and she had a bath there that we were pretty happy about. Our advice, book MONTHS in advance if you want to use the PetsHotel during a holiday. They were near booked for the Winter Holidays by September! Food and toys are a bit overpriced as compared to sales at Target but you also are paying for the one-stop-shop convenience. read more

This review is for their grooming department. Please note that if you are 10 minutes late to your appointment, you lose your appointment. However they won't tell you this. They will wait until you show up to tell you, and all they will say is, when do you want to reschedule? I have been coming here for years to get my dog groomed. It was convenient because they are close by and they keep my dog's record so I don't have to show paperwork or describe his haircut each time. I don't get a complicated cut, my dog gets shaved down each time, so they can be relied on for that. Imagine my surprise, after coming here for years, to be told my appointment for my dog was no longer because I was just over 10 minutes late. No one has ever told me about this policy after all these years. They were extremely rude, unhelpful, and unsympathetic. I told the person that I was not informed about this policy and they just said, so when do you want to reschedule? If they had been nicer and explained that this was their policy for years and apologized that this was not told to me, I would be less upset. However, the fact that this did not happen, and their website says nothing about this policy existing, makes me think that this new policy was just made up by the workers. I would not recommend going to petsmart grooming, for their rude staff that don't tell you ahead of time about their made up policies. read more

This is a really big Petsmart, but it's tough to get service and I think our dog is now scarred from their PetHotel. The Good: They have a pretty fair return policy and a large selection. It's not often that they're out of stock of anything (except for mealworms). The Bad: If you want to get help from anyone, prepare to wait at least 5 -10 minutes for someone to show up. I don't know if they're shortstaffed or what, but it's impossible to get immediate help here. The Ugly: Our dog has been to the PetHotel a few times. She came from a pound, so we figured this wouldn't be too bad for her. However, I have not seen my dog (in the 8 years we've had her) so freaking depressed after coming home from her first experience at the PetHotel. She didn't run, she didn't get excited, she didn't do much of anything. She just slumped for about a week. We assumed she was just really worn out from all that exercise! Well, the next time we took her, the look of pure fear in her eyes was hard to miss. She hated it more than anything I've seen. She knew exactly what was coming. I left her for 5 days and I picked up the same depressed dog afterward. I won't be using their PetHotel again-- not for my baby! read more

I was there over the weekend to get a couple things done for my dog; nails and tails(anal glands expressed) which I was charged for. The only thing they did was clip his nails..my poor baby was traumatised..they made him bleed 4 times and I still had to tell the kid/dude he had missed 4 nails. I will never go back to the grooming area of the store. Half the employees in this area are clueless! So disappointed in the service. We called ahead for info on what we would need for a first visit, we needed our shibas nails trimmed. We were told just a rabies certificate. We arrive to check in for a walk in and the woman says that first timers are required to have a visit with their vet at Banfield. NO THANKS! Banfield is crap and what a racket requiring customers to see their vet.... it took me two years to find my vet and we've been seen by him for nearly 9 years, I'm in no way compelled to subject my dog to an unnecessary stresser with an unfamiliar vet. I took our 5 months old puppy to their Doggy Day Camp 2 times. Both times, she got sick afterwards. The first time, she kept coughing and had nasty phlegm in her throat. The medicine to cure that was $45... The second time (from yesterday), she kept throwing up her food, and could not eat anything because she kept throwing up everything that she ate including water. It just makes me mad because at the other PetSmart locations, she was totally fine... I am writing this review so that other dog owners can stay out of this pethotel. Disappointing. --months later, we tried boarding our dog here again to give another try. When I picked up our dog, she had poo stains all over her tail and butt. They offered to clean it up for us... I was thankful for that because they offered a free shampoo service. However they called me back early because they couldn't do the service due to my dog's whining and stressing. They tried to clean it as much as possible though. (When I was getting out of the store, I saw signs that said groomers needed...). When I was wiping her at home, I realized that they chopped off a HUGE portion of her tail. NEVER EVER COMING BACK AGAIN. Sorry, you guys disappoint us every time. read more

Ah Petsmart. You have my dog food on sale nearly every single time I come here, so YAY for you! This store is fairly big and it's in a decent shopping mall, along with Target, Trader Joes and Subway. I like this one because it carries a lot of the healthier dog foods including the one I use for Auzzy. They just got a new flavor and it was on sale, so we decided to try it. They have a whole aisle dedicated to toys, so we went browsing for a squeaky ball. We found a decent 4 pack for under $5, so we bought it. (later we discovered there's a reason it's under $5... not very sturdy. Auzzy destroyed a ball in less than 10 minutes). :( Customer service is friendly and fast (usually; there are times when they could use an extra cashier). Prices are decent and they are fully stocked. I enjoy coming here with or without my pup. Highly recommended. read more

Excellent customer service from the grooming department! NO appointments needed for nail clipping/grinding and ear cleaning! Just stop by, have your rabies papers ready (for first time users) and it'll be done in 5-10 min. They even sprayed my pup with breath spray, cake batter flavored body spray, and brushed him. He came out looking like a fresh new pup, no grooming needed. Too awesome for a last minute visit to not rave about it!!!!! read more

Stopped by to grab some feeders but I could not locate a single store associate. I heard over the intercom they requested back up cashier and went up to request service in the aquarium section. You guys may want to consider a help/ service button if you don't regularly have someone in certain sections. The lady that helped me with the feeders was nice. But she double bagged the feeders for the lady in front of me and didn't do the same for me. Thus, I have this really wet bag of feeders. PROBLEMS!!!! Yes, I used to always board my dog here, but i don't think I will anymore. A couple months ago, I sent my dog here for a few days. I was able to pick up my dog a day before previously scheduled. When i picked up my dog, I asked them for the extra bag of dog food that i left for my dog. The staff said they could not find it. After much thinking, I realized how my dog could have been starved for that last day if i chose to pick him up the previously scheduled day! I hope I didn't lose you there. For example: It was scheduled to pick him up on Monday. I went to pick him up on Sunday. There should be an extra bag of dog food! With this risk of my dog starving for a day, i have to say.... The only reason I have 4 stars instead of 5 is because I am waiting until my puppy boards at the PetsHotel to make a real decision on this, but for now - I AM THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED WITH BOTH GARY (store manager) AND APRIL (PetsHotel manager)! I just got a puppy as an early Christmas present and when my fiance brought him in to get the first round of shots for him he asked about boarding him at PetsHotel over the Christmas holiday and he was told just to bring him in on Christmas Eve and "there should be room." I was a little worried about this because I had heard that these places book pretty early. Well, I started to do a little research on Yelp to find some more information and there are some pretty harsh reviews on here, so I was worried. We decided to go down and check it out. When we came in to the PetsHotel we were greeted by a very friendly staff who told us what I figured was the case - the PetsHotel was booked for the holiday and there was a waiting list of over 100 dogs. Obviously we were upset. On our way out were were talking about how disappointed we were that we were given the wrong information from the beginning and now we would probably not have anywhere to board our 4 month old puppy. Gary, the store manager heard us talking as we walked out and he asked if he could help. We told him the situation (it may have helped that out little puppy was looking at him with adorable puppy eyes) and long story short, both he and April were able to make room for our puppy over Christmas. Gary even said he would consider bringing him to his house for Christmas! They were so incredible in a situation in which they did not really need to help us. I have read a few negative comments on here about both Gary and April and I felt compelled to share my positive experience with them. read more

The first time I went to Petmart was very impressed. The manager with short hair seemed very friendly and when I left I felt very comfortable leaving my baby there. Later I picked her up I got a progress report and was very pleased. The last two times I was very disappointed. They forgot to give me her food bowl, It took a long time to find it. my dog urinated ( a puddle) the two times I picked her up. I asked them if they walked her and no one knew. When I dropped her off they assured me she will be walked. The last time I went in they asked if I wanted a progress report and I said yes. When I picked her up didn't have the progress report ready they had wrote her name over another dog's name. I was so pissed off. I really feel they don't do there job. It's all a front. I will never go back there again. I found a great place to do my shopping Pet food Express at Steven Creek. The staff is friendly, extremely knowledgeable about there products. Over the Thanksgiving holiday I boarded my dog at other Petsmart facilities. I used the PetSmart facility in the past at other cities, and continue to have the same experience time after time. Every time I drop off my dog, he seems very happy to go in. After I pick him up (usually a couple of days or even a week) my dog is in a hurry to leave and relieve himself. I have the suspicion, they don't let the dogs out to relieve themselves. His poop is unusually large and his pee stream is very long creating a sizable puddle. I think my dog poor dog is holding it the entire time until I pick him up. I don't know about you, but I sick and tired of having the same experience. I've talk to other friends who used their boarding facility and have had similar experiences. To top it off, they give my this bogus report card about how my dog did. I know they fill the card out before they give you the dog because I can see my dog being walked to the front. It usually takes about 3-5 minutes before he walks through the door. I don't always get the report card, but when I do it's total bull. The always give him good marks and tells me he eats all his food. When I know for a fact, when I'm not at home he will wait I get home before he eats and sleeps. My dog will go for over 48 hours without eating and drinking very little if I'm not around. I'm on the hunt for a new facility to take care of my dog. read more

It seems like I had a rare positive experience with the Grooming Salon here, it may depend on which groomer you get... I haven't thought of bringing my shelter pooches here because initially, it looked like an assembly line kind of place, but upon browsing the store, I was impressed by the grooming of a huge Standard Poodle that I saw. I was browsing for brushes and combs for my pooch, and turned around to see a GIANT white Standard Poodle, groomed by a Hispanic gentleman. I asked for his name (Juan) so that I could request him for my pooch. The Poodle that he groomed was calm, pearly white, and extremely well groomed. We made an appointment requesting Juan for our Maltese/Poodle. Fast forward to today, we brought her in, gave specific instructions, and went on our way. We got a dreaded call an hour later. Juan called us to let us know that our pooch was terrified of the bath and dryer. The poor thing soiled herself because she was so scared! We REALLY appreciate the call and came back to get her right away. We would much rather take her elsewhere then stress her out even more. 4 stars for Juan and the way he handled the situation -1 star for how busy this place is (I'm convinced that the environment is what stressed our doggie out) I think it depends on what groomer you get, when it comes to quality. Juan definitely exceeded my expectations, and would follow him if he worked in a different environment! read more

Mr. Rico doggie gets most of his toys and beds from here! he is a huge fan of the Martha Stewart beds....he has two of the same Martha Stewart beds in different rooms!one for the kitchen to watch cooking and one in the bedroom for sleeping. This location also does a good job of stocking his clothing size and he has lots of fun trying on HOWL-O WEEN costumes too! The doggie day care is always fun to watch and they do a pretty good job keeping the floors free of doggie accidents. Everyone is always nice and helpful here and parking is always a breeze!! read more

I have had my rescue pup Tucker for almost a year, and this was the second time he's ever been groomed. The first time, we went to a different salon and the groomers did a terribly uneven job and wouldn't finish his ears, neck, or face because he was nervous, moving around, and snapping at the clippers. This time I chose to go to Petsmart grooming and I'm so glad I did! I warned the groomers of Tucker's anxiety and they said they would be careful. When I arrived to pick him up, I was amazed! They had done a beautifully even job for his body and had been able to trim his head, neck, ears, and face! They had even been able to clip his toenails, something usually only veterinary techs are able to do with him. Jodie, his groomer, wrote a very sweet note to me saying that she just gave him love, affection, and patience and that he was very calm throughout! Grooming by Brad. He did the overall body trim okay.. if you look from far away. I wanted the front leg featherings to be trimmed all the way, but it wasn't (picture). Nails look okay. Ears are clean. Back teeth are still a little dirty. I was most concerned about the ear fur though because that's where my dog gets the most mats, under the ears. I had to ask him to trim more off the butt and ears at the end. When we got home I flipped up his ears for a closer look. I don't know how to explain it so I'll just post a picture. It looks unfinished/choppy/uneven. I wanted to give 3 stars because he was nice, patient, and worked more on the areas I asked him to with a good attitude, but for $94.. I expected a damn good job, especially the ears. I like Petsmart in general, but I won't be bringing my dog back for the grooming service. read more

Been looking for my Instinct Raw boost whole grain for a few weeks . For some reason its been hard for me to get . Hayward , Fremont , Union City , Milpitas , and The Plant didnt have them in stock for a while . Called the Coleman store and said they were in stock but didnt have the small bags . Joel is the person who helped me and fixed my problem ! Very satisfied with his help and solution to my issue and he was training staff at the same time !
